Hi Penguin.

Sorry to say, this thread seems to have lost steam. I'm still eating plant strong and doing well.

Good luck to you. This way of eating is definitely worth it.

Hi all,
As a vegetarian this way of eating has always intrigued me. I have never made the commitment to see it through though. Lent starts tomorrow and this is my lent challenge.Penguin, how is it going for you so far?

Hope everyone is doing ok, no matter how you are eating. Just wanted to post this here to re-inforce that eating less meat is a good thing.

All red meat is bad for you, new study says

Eating red meat — any amount and any type — appears to significantly increase the risk of premature death, according to a long-range study that examined the eating habits and health of more than 110,000 adults for more than 20 years.

-and-

Eating a serving of nuts instead of beef or pork was associated with a 19% lower risk of dying during the study. The team said choosing poultry or whole grains as a substitute was linked with a 14% reduction in mortality risk; low-fat dairy or legumes, 10%; and fish, 7%.

Hi ! I've tried ETL a couple of times and although I've kept with more veggies I haven't broken away from animal products completely. With the weather getting warmer and me wanting to get more active, I think it's a perfect time to revisit this ETL-thing. Would really appreciate some 'teammates' ...

I'm still here! I went about a week before I had some chicken. Funny story, I made a lot of vegan meals at first. Hubby came home from work the first week, looked at the veggie soup I had made and sheepishly asked "when are we going to have meat again?" Poor guy. I think we had different expectations.

I'm trying a lot of new things, some success, some not so much. But overall we are enjoying this 'new to us' way of eating.

Hi! I'm new to this forum, but am almost finished with the 6 weeks on Eat to Live. Love it so far!! I've been following it to a "T" and have lost about 18 lbs, 20 inches and almost 3 pant sizes so far! I am pretty excited to get to the 90/10 part of the diet. Hubby and I are going to go out to eat twice a month, eat what we want and then go back 100% the rest of the month. We have never felt better. I still have about 55 lbs to lose, but I know I'll stay on this eating plan for the rest of my life. The book was life changing for me. My doctor recommended it based on my cholesterol and pre-diabetes. I can't wait to go back to the doctor in two months to find out how much I have improved!

I am thinking about starting ETL. My big reservation is about the protein sources: even though I love beans, I can't seem to cook soy worth a *)*&).

good for you, bbv! inspiring!

Then don't eat soy, or just buy tofu. I haven't had anything soy since I started ETL last summer - it's not required.

Mostly. After i failed the blood protein test when giving plasma, i started eating some eggs/egg whites, and occasional yogurt, & cheese. i was thrilled that my cholesterol test gave the best results in seven years!

Mostly, for me too, after having some negative health issues with a different way of eating. This way is more natural for me and I feel best on it, even if I do have a major fat addiciton.

Just came back to 3fc after very long absence. My vegetarian daughter who has multiple food problems due to interstitial cystitis wants to lose 50 lbs, and I'm at a big plateau after losing 30 lbs in the last year. ETL was featured on Women's World cover with Dr. Oz. It looked like something my daughter could stick to and enjoy. Neither of us likes to cook very much, so we'll need lots of support and info to succeed. So glad you're reviving this thread! Thanks!

I just logged in yesterday and my last log in was in 2005! How time flies. There are so many great books and movies about plant based eating. I do believe it is medicine for your body.
