Happy Fourth!

I think my daughter is going to come over to swim and cook out, and she will have the grandson along with her. Her husband has to work, and my other daughter is going someplace else.

Last night we went to see the fireworks with my walking buddy and her husband and daughter. We walked about a mile and a half, there and back. I was pleased to have gotten in a good bit of exercise yesterday. Today, they had water aerobics class, so I went. Started the day out right!

Off to get some coffee!

Hi everyone, back from vacation. We had a great time with my GS. He finnaly took to the ocean and got in with his daddy holdoing him. earlier he wouldn't even let the tide touch his feet. He loved the pool and jumped in all the time. Ate out every night and I feel like a stuffed pig. Starting over today even though we will be going to the lake for the weekend and there will be junk and drinks. I am trying to be the best I can be. Going to go to my DD's and walk in the pool today for awhile. I am so limited on what I can do. My back and leg were killing me by Friday. Don't know if I did something or just climing those steps for a week did me in. Calling hte dr today

Toni, glad you enjoyed your company. Hope you can get some rest now. We spent a quiet 4th. Went to dinner and got a salad and mostly stayed inside b/c our dog is scared to death of fireworks.

Ellen, Hope you have a great pool day. That's where I am headed. Glad the chiro helped you feel better.

Heartmom, I think you may be going for Boogie's surgery by now. If so, our prayers are with you,

Crystal, saw where you ate a bag of chips. Been there, done that. Don't beat yourself up over it. Just pick up and go on.

Mercee, hope all is well with you.

Glad to be back home but I sure hated leaving my grandson. They are there for another week. His parents are there with them and they really don't get along with them especially my DD. She has called and texted and she is already having a rough time. At least her best friend is down the road and can visit with them. See you tomorrow.

Hello all. I'm a slug this morning. Going for the slow start but there's not much I need to do today. I need to get my eating in order LOL its been having a blast with the company here and then fourth of July. I'm afraid to get on the scale. Hope I can work up the courage Wed. to get it over with and start back on good eating habits again. We really need to grocery shop. Tonight I'm making taco salad.

Mercee- Glad you had such a good time this week end. I love visiting with my sister.

Solly- What a nice vacation you had. Sorry you're hurting and hope your doctor can do something. We stayed in with the dogs last night too. They're so scared of the fireworks.

Ellen- Hope you had a good fourth with your daughter and Grandson. You're doing so good on your exercise. I love reading your walking and going to water aerobic's.

Crystle- You get to have a break once in awhile and eat a bag of chips when you're at goal. Don't let it throw you off.

Heartmom- Prayers for Boogie. Hope everything is going all right.

Well guess I should look for something to eat. Have a good day and stay cool...

Went grocery shopping today and had lunch at Applebee's. Soup and a salad. Now I'm beat. Kicked back and watching an old movie. Good for the evening.

Urghh, hit the wrong button and lost my post. Haven't been on much this week but then again not many others have either. I haven't felt good with an upset stomach. I haven't been eating much especially no meat. I was at 193 when we got back and today was 187. So I am please with that. Now to keep going.

We are leaving for Barren Lake for the weekend today with 7 more couples. All old friends of my DH that grew up dogether. Can't wait to see everyone.

Today is my grandson's 2nd birthday. I miss him so much. Can't wait until Sunday to see him. We are so thankful to get him and we are truly blessed.

Toni, Glad you enjoyed your company. It's always hard to see them go. Face the scale and get on with it. that's all you can do.

Ellen, hope your pool day was good this week. It is raining hard here today.

Mercee, glad you had a nice visit with your sister. Nothing like old movies and catching up.

Crystle, hope all is well with you.

Got to get showered and finish my cleaning. Have a great weekend. See you Monday.

I made the decision to go low carb for a while. I skipped bread, and rice today. Ate more protein. We shall see how it goes. I walked this morning. Went to lunch at a bbq place with my walking buddy...it was her birthday lunch. I skipped the cornbread and had salad and okra with my pulled pork. I tasted the sauces, but used only about 3 tablespoons of it total. Just did not appeal.

Looks like it will be another busy weekend. sigh. I long for a few weeks of nothing to do!

The garden is really starting to come in. Tonight I fixed okra, and used some of the Indian spinach like Gongura in a chicken curry. It was delicious! We have a few almost ripe tomatoes, and tons of green beans. AND the blueberries are coming in really well now. I love taking my bucket out and filling it up! Can't wait to get some eggplants.

SOLLY: Happy Birthday to your little buddy! Aren't grandkids fun? I look at mine...his five...and I wonder where the time has gone? He is such a joy. Have fun at the lake!

MERCEE: I hope you have a great weekend!

TONI: Hope all is well! Glad you got to shop and stock up...

COUNTRY: Are you still getting garden produce? How about rain?

For some reason I fell asleep in my chair this evening and took a bit of a nap. Think I stayed up to late last night. Made a pot of green beans and new potatoes along with pork chops for dinner. Tomorrow night hubby is taking me out to dinner for my birthday. Sunday is really my birthday and it will be a sad day as my son deploys for Iraq Sunday night. He'll be gone for a year. Hopefully this is his last tour out of the states. But who knows with the army.

Solly- A great big Happy Birthday to your Grandson. Hope you have a good time at the Lake.

Mercee- Hi to you too. Hope you have a good week end.

Ellen- Your garden sounds wonderful. Along with your dinner. I need to buckle down and get eating right again.

Crystle- How are you doing?

Well off to watch a bit more tv before calling it an early night.

Ok, I confess I am bragging here...dinner was boiled chicken (I was too lazy to make anything else...already had boiled some I got on sale at the store) fresh green beans out of the garden, and fresh tomatoes out of the garden. Yum yum! For lunch, I had too many carbs, but it was a BLT on whole wheat. I wanted to have at least one while the tomatoes were fresh and good!

I picked blueberries this evening...got about a quart. I have to fight the birds for them. I am planning on going to a blueberry farm next week and picking a gallon or two.

Tom has about finished the trellis he was making for the 'climbers' in the garden. The Bottle Gourd, and cukes are happily wrapping their tendrils around the ropes and hanging on. I saw two small cukes ...hopefully they will be ready in a few days. There are a few blossoms on the eggplant...but no little fruits forming. Come on Eggplant!

Off to bone the chicken.

So, last night I spent a lot of time online researching low carb and how it relates to diabetes. I am pretty convinced that my best bet to get things under control is a low carb hunter-gatherer approach to diet. Simple foods, no grains, only tree and bush fruits in season, no root veggies. Its not going to be easy. At least Tom likes to eat meat mostly so meals will not be as complicated as when I was eating vegan. I hate to keep changing my diet and trying new things. The vegan worked for a while, then my blood sugar started creeping up again. I will give this diet the same amount of time...six to nine months...and see how I fare. I guess my body likes to be kept guessing? argh.

So for breakfast this morning I had two large patties of sausage, and coffee with half and half. The website I read said coffee was ok, but only with heavy whipping cream. Well! Twist my arm! I need to get some I guess.

If this works, I will be SO happy. I am at wits end. I exercise, eat fairly well, and take a boatload of meds and my sugar levels are STILL too high. Something HAS to work. And I think the ADA and medical community make it worse the way they treat diabetics. They pushed me to use insulin and it did not help one bit...only made me worse! I don't want to die of diabetes complications...

I started eating the sausage for breakfast a week or two ago, and since that time, I have noticed I am no longer starving at 10 am. I am hopeful...

Off to get my day going!

I posted but don'tknow what happened

Hi ladies. back from the lake. Spent the evening with my GS and brought him home with me. We had fun and did some running this morning and go my hair done. It will be a busy week as we are having my grandsons party this Saturday. There is lots to do.

Toni, Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a great day. So sorry to hear that your son is leaving again. As always, prayers for his safety and quick return.

Ellen, I hope the low carb works for you. Right now it is just to hot to eat. The heat index today is 110. It is really a scorcher out there.

Crystal, Hi, hope you are doing well.

Mercee,

Tomorrow is my husbands birthday but we are going to a pizza place with the kids tonight as everyone has something going on the rest of the week. His birthday sort of gets overlooked with the baby's being so close.

About time to go get the baby. I will just take him to the pizza place for his mom to meet up with us since we live across the street from the sitter. I got to the back doctor in the morning just to talk about everything. Have a great evening.

Oh my gosh its been 100 today. The past couple of days have really been a scorcher. Had a nice plate of cold chicken breast, sliced cucumbers and cherry tomatoes from my vine for lunch. Its a sad day today because all I can think of is my son on his way to Iraq. It all doesn't seem fair.

Solly- Thanks for the prayers for Scott. Sounds like the you're having alot of birthday's lately. Enjoy the fun. Have fun with that Grandbaby.

Ellen- I so admire you for trying different ways to be healthy. I just had a friend find out she is diabetic. I feel so bad for her.

Well off I go. We're grilling a pork tenderloin and baby zucchini for dinner.

Default Hello!!

Well, I fell off the wagon BIGTIME for a while there, and was eating nothing but fast food and JUNK. I didn't manage to gain all my weight back (though I was trying my damndest apparently!) I did gain quite a bit of it back. I managed to yank myself up by the bootstraps, and while not eating completely legal at the moment I am doing MUCH better than I was.

I joined a Roller Derby team here and the practices 3 times a week, 2-3 hours at a time is really kicking my bootie!!! I've lost a few pounds but I've actually gained some muscle because I've gone down a pants size without losing many pounds. I'm getting a lot of strength but am battling shin splints so I'm trying to deal with that. I'm having a LOT of fun, though - and I love the group I skate with so it's like a built in support system of sisters! Many of them are very athletic and are helping get me motivated, and some of them struggle with weight issues as well so I'm able to talk to them about mine.

I need to get myself back on track completely - I KNOW it WORKS. I've DONE it myself! I just don't understand why my brain and willpower will sit and complain about being fat and yet I have the darn ANSWER I just don't do it?!?! I guess it doesn't bother me as much as I say it does or I would do what it takes to get it under control!

I hope everyone is doing well... It's 115 degree heat index here so I'm super grateful that I have a desk job! Praying for a rain shower to cool it down a little bit. I sure won't be doing anything outside!

Have a great day!!!
