TurboMammoth: - ugh snow... Yuck! That heavy wet snow could definitely count as lifting! It's definitely a workout!

Crampus: I don't even want to think about bathing suits... At least not for another 20 pounds!

Philana: caffeine is a hard habit to break... I'm weaning myself off now - I used to drink 1/2-3/4 pot of coffee every morning plus multiple diet mountain dews throughout the day... I'm down to 1 cup coffee and 1 diet dew - and sometimes just one or none - but it was tough getting to this point. Just stick with it and you will feel so much better in the end.

Well it was a beautiful sunny warm day (73) here today so I took a run on my lunch - loved every minute of it! My boss (who's my age) is also on a fitness kick so he's somewhat holding me accountable - checking in on my exercise and diet stats- so that's been interesting....

Krampus ~ So tough to find a decent bathing suit. I'm of a more "sporty" build, so I tend to go with Speedo two-pieces. They make a few that don't look too bad. And I had to giggle at your clif bar comment. We have one of those bars sitting in the house right now. Must remind myself that they are ONLY for big, burly mountain-climbing men.

LoveSweet ~ Fun to chat w. a friend and exercise at the same time. Makes the minutes fly by. I watch weight loss type shows when I treadmill, too. I'm a guilty fan of MTV's I Used to be Fat.

Pinkrunner ~ Good luck on that interview!!! Let us know how it goes!!!

Lisa ~ Thanks for the info. I'm trying to work through an Intro to Biostats course on the Johns Hopkins open courseware system now. Are you and the bf long-distance or have you relocated? (And which job was it that made you want to eat the cookie?)

Philana ~ Be patient with yourself while you're dealing with the withdrawal. Coming off excess caffeine can be worse than coming off cocaine, so I've heard. I tend toward the same kind of behavior (good all day, then one slip that leads to an avalanche in the evening). I try to add in yoga or some kind of activity at night that helps combat the boredom and keeps my mind on things that are good for me, rather than the crap that I shouldn't be eating.

JoJoP ~ Kind of in awe of your powers of restraint. And I'm like you with the coffee in the morning. Seems to be about 50/50 in terms of whether it's bad for you or not. I've read that it can actually be beneficial to drink before a workout, but in moderation, of course.

Amy ~ Hello and welcome! Sounds like you're really making strides in the changing behaviors department. Whoa to having your boss check in w. your fitness goals, though. On the one hand, it might be motivational but on the other, it could feel like an invasion of privacy. Tough situation. As I was leaving for lunch one day, my boss (he's 75) was like "Don't eat too much." And I came back and asked "Were you calling me fat or did you just want me to be back on time?" (We have a very congenial relationship.)

Turbo ~ You're so right about any loss being a step in the right direction. I'm trying to remember to be patient and not give up. Am actually really jealous of all your snow. We've had two "storms" this year and they were both a bit disappointing. That reunion w. your friend sounds lovely and for sure you will have earned that fondue!

~~~
Have been making an effort to eat more healthfully (veggies, etc) and keep my cals down to around 1400, as opposed to the 2000+ that I was eating. Scales haven't been the kindest, but am keeping on and not letting the numbers get to me.
So far, the "3 meals, no snacks" plan hasn't been as hard as I thought. I'm telling myself that outside of a meal, food isn't an option.
philana : getting back on track is alwasys hard after slipping up up for a few days... hold on, you can do that!
LoveSweet : Woah, what a workout it must have been to throw up after! I hope you're okay!
ShrinkingAmy : being able to run during your lunch hour is great. And it's always nice to have someone around you to stay accountable!
AlexisTrophic : Oh don't be so jealous about the snow, we had a really crappy winter so far with not so much snow... but Mother Nature seems to hear us lately and is throwing everything she got this week, they're forecasting some kind of snow storm tonight tomorrow.. right when I'm supposed to be on the road yay! LOL And snacking is SO HARD to cut off. I'm impressed by anybody who's able to do it.
Congrats Turbo! Thats super impressive!
Welcome Amy! I sometimes exercise at lunch but it usually ends up being a 2 plus hour lunch since I have to go home and shower! Then I come back with soaking wet hair.
Did Pilates this morning and a 3 mile run....I will be sore tomorrow!
Went to an amazing sushi restaurant last night and did not over do it.
I'm going to try very hard this weekend in Palm Springs to eat healthy and not go overboard.
Thank you all for your support! I went completely overboard yesterday, deciding that while I was off the wagon I'd eat the stuff I'd been missing untill I felt sick and then start clean today.
Which I am pretty sure I am gonna do, after eating so much junk the past few days I am completely ready to get back on track. It cost me like 4-6lbs though. But I am sure mostly waterweight. I ate a lot but I did not eat more than 3500calories above maintenance.
Day 4 of caffeine-free life. I feel a bit more like myself also. I am really comitted this time so I know I won't cave in I am just waiting till the UHG passes.
Just wanted to check in and be accountable. Talk to you girls later!
Yesterday wasn't a low calorie day, but atleast it was a semi-clean calorie day. Today is gonna be a low calorie day. I am seriously gonna try to eat nothing but egg whites and vegetable broth. I need to break through this eating until I explode thing.
I fell off the wagon hard yesterday. I ate a king size candy bar and ice cream right before bed - that was after pizza, pasta and beer earlier. TERRIBLE sugar hangover today and weighed in at 132.5 lb this morning. Ughhhh!!!!!!
Grrr.... Count me in with the "off the wagon" folks... I done fell off, then got run over.
Broke cut-off on Friday. Only ate vegetable soup, but still gained on Saturday.... then had a HUGE food day (we went to Old Country Buffet and I was NOT moderate at all...) and started today out huge, too. Grrr.... Not feeling the greatest, but still being accountable.
I'm up to 134 today T_T After 3 days of binging....yeah, no surprise XD Hopefully clean eating and exercise will remedy that, though!
Hey all!
So I'm joining in, had way too much junk this weekend. Brunch out twice, popcorn and wine on Friday and wings and beer on Saturday!! Not good, I'm also having a mini Oscar party with my mom tonight so that won't be good either!
I did do some heavy weight lifting this morning and I'm hoping to have a really good week food and exercise wise.
... I'm joining the ''I overate'' wagon.
My friend and I had cheeze fondue with a bit of bread and veggies (wasn't super healthy food but we did not overate on that).
But we had alcool. Sooooo much alcool. I don't even want to WI or think about how many calories there was in that.
Tomorrow is a new day... I guess..??!? LOL
