I hope so Akim! I was 140.X for the third day in a row this morning, so hopefully within the next few weeks I will be out of the 140's.
I've been sick with a cold the past week, so it's probably helping that I have little appetite. :P |
I have a dial scale, but today, it looked like it was so close to being under 140. Fingers crossed! I haven't worked out in the last two days because of being so tired from not being able to sleep at night... and then falling asleep when I'm supposed to be working out!
|
That's awesome Akim!
I'm still sick with a bad cold and dieting isn't really on my mind. I've been drinking lots of sugary drinks (chai, chocolate soymilk) but not eating much else so hopefully I am staying under 1500 and don't gain. I can't believe I've been sick for almost 2 weeks with this. Arrgh. So frustrating!!!i I didn't weigh this morning as the cold medicine seems to be making me retain water (ring is very tight) and while at 140 for 4 days, yesterday I was at 142! I kind of expected it, because I drank an absolute ton of liquids during the day and didn't even have to pee at all. I hate being sick. :( |
wildflower- I hope you feel better soon. It's such a horrible feeling, to be bloated, and on top of that being stuck with a cold is just terrible.
|
Thanks Akim! I'm feeling better but still very stuffed up...can't see myself getting back to the gym for another few days or until next week.
|
So since I've posted, I've changed my gym routine to huff it out on the treadmill for 50 minutes several times this week. Everytime I'm on there I want to just get off and go to the elliptical instead, but I sure don't sweat on the elliptical the way I do on the treadmill. I also just can't stop watching the clock on the treadmill to count down the minutes & seconds before I get off. No amount of music or TV will distract me long enough to stop watching that clock tick down because I want to get off that machine so badly. I didn't have this issue on the elliptical either.
I've also had larygitis for a few days, but that hasn't prevented me from visiting the gym. The scale is showing 142.6 for a few days now, but I'm always so afraid it will creep back up. And now I have a new challenge to break 142.6 because historically this has been my "stuck" number on and off for many years. |
Meh - after a birthday party, a week of eating left over party food, and not being able to run because of ice and snow, I'm back up to 144.6 - poo!!
|
Orthodiva-- i can totally relate to your feelings about running on the treadmill. I also don't sweat as much on the elliptical. This month, I have compromised and I do 30mins on the elliptical, and then i jump on the treadmill for as little as 5 mins, up to whatever I can convince myself to stay on. I think that it is helping me lose weight. Before this, I was just doing the elliptical on the "weight loss" preset program.
This morning I weighed in and the dial was slightly below 140. It stinks not having a digital scale. BUT i'm not going to say I am under 140 until I'm DEFINITELY under 140 by at least 2 lbs. My goal was to get to 135 by the end of the month. I've also restarted my Wellbutrin, so it definitely helps to curb my appetite and prevents me from eating too much. Everyone seems to have a cold! I hope everyone feels better soon! |
I'm still in the 140's....140.8 today. I'm not frustrated, because I know it will fall off. I'll probably start losing at least a few pounds in the next week, because that seems to be my pattern, stall a few weeks, then it comes off at once! I am very excited because today I"m wearing size 8 pants!!! I could button them up a month ago, but they gave me bad muffin top. I'm wearing a tight shirt and there's no muffin top. yay!!! I love that 10's are falling off, but I just barely bought them!
I hope everyone feels better soon, and that I don't get the crud that's been going around!! :) |
Ultimate goal is to get down to 128lbs, but currently I'm 145lbs (estimate.. scale and I are not friends) and I haven't seen the 130s since the summer. Hoping to get some support from the featherweights :)
|
welcome VV!!!
Well 140.2 today...hoping to see 139.x tomorrow. I'm not counting on it, but it's so possible! Now this is motivation, when you're on the brink of the next 10's :) |
Thanks for the welcome pinkflower! Hope you see the 130's tomorrow morning :) And is that Christian Bale in your picture?? He's basically my dream man, so if I'm right then you obviously have great taste like me! haha
|
Thanks, me too!
yup, and hands off, he's my boyfriend lol! ;) Seriously he's so hot!! |
Pink! you are so close! Yippee to NO muffin top! That is SO exciting.
VV- you sound like me! I've been struggling too. What are your methods to losing weight? Are you dieting and exercising or just dieting? So, my dial scale has been consistently over 140. So the one day of it being A LITTLE under that black line was a fluke. I've been so mad about it. However, I've eaten garbage the last two days. But, I've been restricting calories, so even though it's garbage, i've stayed under 1300. :( I hope everyone has a good weekend. |
Hi...Im brand new to the site and I thought this would be a good place for my first post. 140 and over is when I look and feel bad, muffin top and am busting out of my clothes. NOT COOL. I really want to lose ten lbs by february and keep the weight off. Right now I am a little over 140 and would like to below that by Christmas even if it is by one or two lbs.
|
Hi all!
I also just found this thread - strangely, I'm also a vegan grad student! We seem to have a critical mass here. Oh, and I also heart Christian Bale!
I had gotten down to about 138 in September, and kept it there for a month. But then stress and job interviews etc. got to me, and "somehow" my weight is back up in the 140s. I finally accepted it and changed my current weight in my profile. My 'stuck weight' is 143, I have been stuck there for years at times. My happy weight is 135, I feel fittest and happiest there. So, here I go! Why is it so hard to lose weight while training for a marathon? It was mentioned in this thread; I was told that by others and also found it out first-hand. But I'm still not sure why - is it simply eating too much to compensate for calories burned? Or is there more to it? |
Hi everyone!
JayZeeJay--- I read an article that was posted in another thread... It was a link to "Runner's World" and they did a study where they found that women, more than men, ate more during marathon training. In a sense, they were burning all the calories, but after the runs, they would over eat what they actually needed to eat to fuel. I downloaded a new program "Lose it!" for my iPhone. I really like it better than my FitDay. FitDay is great, but I love the fact that this program tells you how many calories you have left in the day, after it takes into account what you've eaten, to reach goal. Zumbachica, I also realized I was way overweight, when I put on my clothes (i'm deployed) when I was home for R&R. I couldn't wear any of my jeans with out major muffin top. I had to wear dresses the entire time because of it. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Hopefully someone here got under 140! |
Welcome everyone new!!!
JayzeeJay - I too am a grad student and while vegetarian for 15 years, trying the vegan thing once again. Fiancee and I have plans to go vegan as of Jan 1, but we eat a lot of vegan meals already as I prefer that way of eating to tons of egg/cheese veggie meals. Akim, I am still holding at 140.5 as I have been for the last few weeks. But that said, with all the holiday get togethers, I am not really staying on plan and probably won't start up again until after the new year. I can't believe I haven't made my goal at all and am basically just maintaining...but the fact that I have been eating whatever I want (I am trying not to stuff myself, but other than that whatever I want) and still maintaining makes me somewhat happy. I don't know, I am mixed. I am still trying to be "on plan" for when I am not having dinner with friends, at a party, etc. But it's hard. I am finally, finally feeling better from my cold I had for the past 2.5 weeks!!! Going to try to make it to the gym at lunch tomorrow if I don't meet up with a friend for lunch. Yayy for a bit of running - we'll see how far I make it as i've only gotten a few short (2 miles) runs in the past few months. I think I'll go for 20 minutes. |
hey everyone!
I'm so glad I found this post. I find it's kind of hard to find people in my weight range sometimes on here that understand. There are great people on here i'm addicted..but still. So my story is...for the last few years i've been stuck in the 140s. I've never been happy with it but it's where i was and i was too lazy to really do anything about it. Last year I got married and the stress of planning..i dropped to 134 without even trying. however over the last year it's been creeping up. One day, i was looking for clothes and none of my jeans fit anymore..and i was in shock..when I weighed myself I was 157lbs!!! I gained 23lbs in one year. That's when i decided to make a change..that was in October...now im down to somewhere around 143-146. (no digital scale..that will soon be fixed)....and being in 140s depresses me..My goal is 115 but right now..i'd just be so freaking happy to see like 138 on the scale. |
Well I'm determined to get out of the 140 range. Starting Atkins today, it is the only thing that works for me.
As far as the marathon runner thing it does not surprise me. Fitness instructors teach loads of classes a week and still have issues with their weight....I know I feel hungrier when I'm working out and take in more calories because of that. When I hurt my foot and wasn't able to work out I lost weight! Ironic, isn't it? |
I just realized I can join this thread now! I recently hit 149lbs and today I saw 148lbs. I am hoping to be at 140-139 by Valentine's Day!
|
Hi Veela!
You and I have similar stats and goals. Into the 130s by Valentine's Day it is! |
I cannot wait to see the scale say 13_.... 22 pounds to go!
|
Hello, Everyone!
Wildflower- It's great to hear you are feeling better. Have you thought about making your plan to count calories? It helps me keep in check. I, too, feel like I'm maintaining. Angleluv- It sounds like you are on the right track! I think most of us can relate to waking up one morning and finally realizing it was time for a change! Well, this morning, I weighed in on my dial scale, and it was right under 140. But, again, it doesn't count unless it is REALLY under 140. I weighed myself again before I got into bed, and it was right at 140. Usually, when I weigh in at the end of the day, the scale is more toward 143/5. So, my fingers are crossed. I've been working out 5 times a week. Just 30mins on the elliptical, then, depending on how i felt, i would jump on the treadmill, crank the incline as high it could go, and then, jogging/running as best as i could for at least 5 mins. The most, so far, has been 10 mins. Most recently, I added jump roping. I set the goal of doing 100 nonstop, but I've been taking breaks. Also, I added in situps and pushups. I haven't lifted weights since I started the jump rope and SU/PU. I'm hoping this change will help me lose some more weight. ALSO (sorry to be long winded), I have been using the "Lose It" application religiously! It's helping me to stay honest and at my calorie goal! |
AKim, it sounds like you're there! I understand that you want your scale to be definitively in the 130's - it sounds like that is hours away for you.
|
I am so close to this thread I can taste it. It's making me a little crazy, I feel like I have been in the 150s forever, but that's not reality. Hopefully this week, though, I'll hit 149.
|
I don't mind the 140s, it's definitely better than the 150s for me but I would absolutely love to see a 13_ number on the scale as well. over the past few months I have bumped up my exercise to running 4 times a week. I just know that my food/calories needs to be controlled a lot better in order to get there. I have my days lke you all when I am awesome and then there are days when I am craving a huge juicy pizza which is ok to have but in moderation. I sometimes do a little too much, boderline binging. This is when I feel deprived in some way and justify eating too much. I have got to stop that some how.
|
Akim - Congrats on making it out of the 140s! Definitely sounds like you were there!
This morning I weighed at 140.2! I was so surprised to see something other than a x.0 weight for a second I thought i had gained!!! Ha. I know I was somewhat dehydrated though, as I slept for about 12 hours last night, but I can't help but feel happy to at least see the 130's so much closer on the scale! I even got to the gym to day for a run...It's been awhile and it definitely wore me out quickly. I guess it'll take me awhile to build my strength back up. |
Well since posting this Monday, I've been weighing in in the 140.xs the rest of the week and this morning was 139.4!!!!
Oh my goodness, I hope this stays and isn't just dehydration or something. Could I have really made it out of the 140's FINALLY? |
Wildflower! that is great! I bet you are out of the 140s for good! You must be so happy since you were sick and unable to work out for so long!
I weighed myself two days ago and I was below 140 and this morning I was below 140... i wish i had a digital scale. So I feel safe to say, i'm officially under 140. The arrow is at 138/139. I increased my elliptical to 60mins. I think it is what helped get me over the 140 hump! my goal was to be at 135 at NYE, but I'll take what I have without complaints! |
Thank you Akim! Congrats to you!!! 130's thread here we come!!
Hoping it will stick as I am a daily weigher and actually don't see much fluctuation in my weight usually. My NYE goal was also 135, and then even revised to 125 after a good weight loss after my first month on plan. I am a bit disappointed I didn't make either, but on the other hand I have sort of been taking a break and glad I didn't gain. So I have that going for me. :) |
Quote:
I finally made it to 139 on Christmas Eve morning and have been at 138 the past two mornings, it's definitely a great feeling to pass that milestone :) My goal weight was only 140, but I have a feeling I'm at least going to get to 135 with the little bit left I want to tone up. |
Wildflower and Akim: Congrats on "graduating" from the 140's to the 130's! Well done!!!
|
OH ladies i need a buddy to focus to get 4 lbs off to get to 139. ANYTHING. i haven't seen 139 in FOUR years!!!!! it definately would be a mini goal for myself!!!!!!
good luck ladies!!!! xx |
Thank you everyone! Congrats to you too Ashley 829.
|
Hello everyone!! Well, I'm firmly back into the 140's after a few days last week-- or was it the week before that in the 130's :( UGGGH! It's how "oh just one more piece of fudge won't hurt me, and it's my birthday" catch up! Now I'm up to 142.4, although I'm certain at least a pound of that is sodium because I ate out at Chili's last night (Had grilled chicken sandwich, steamed veggies, and only water to drink) and was 141 yesterday morning
I'm done with all the junk hanging around and will see the 130's again by February woohoo!! Good luck to everyone :) |
Count me in this thread!!! I went up to 144 lbs from 142lbs over this christmas. I have never been able to break 140lbs so far.
|
I'd love to join this thread too! I haven't been here for almost four years (and it wasn't ultimately "for real" last time). I went back to work soon after joining here in 2007 and before long added about 12 pounds!
Anyway, I'm hovering just under 150 right now, so have a ways to go to leave the 140s, but can't wait to join those of you who are so close to that milestone or have just passed it! Congrats to all who are doing such a good job - you are very inspiring! |
EEKKS..... Seriously, I have been a non stop eating machine so I'm back in the 140s. I increased my cardio to 1hr on the elliptical (from just 30 mins), but the last 2 days, I've been eating like crazy.
I've been using the Loseit! program on my iPhone... and it says, for me to lose 2lbs a week, i need to be at 980 calories a day. Which is actually achievable if i work out and eat sensibly. HOWEVER, sensible is the key word. I'm deployed to Iraq and I'm a vegetarian... so it's hard to eat quality food. So, my friend's mom sent me a tub of caramel popcorn. I seriously ate the 17 servings of caramel popcorn in 5 days!!! Also, a nice lady sent us boxes of candy, so I've been eating salt water taffy like it's my J-O-B. Anyways, I hope you guys don't mind welcoming me back. I totally hate the fact that I got below 140 and then I blew it because of the lack of self control. I hope everyone started 2011 on a good foot! It does sound like we are all determined to achieve our goal of getting back to our goal weight!! |
Wow AKim - you have a LOT going on to complicate your weight loss/maintenance plan!
Can I send you some healthy/veggie food?:) I'm serious, I would be happy to send you a 3FC-approved care package! |
