Hi encouragers...I just had a bit of a break in my evening and thought I'd stop in. DH is at trucking school, I've packed in the dissertation for the night, and I'm just vegging out, something I haven't done very much of lately. It is nice just to sit around and be a couch potato a little bit! My week is going well in spite of all the stresses surrounding me. I can't complain too much.
Hi Sue! Welcome back! So glad that you are home safe.
Lori, glad to hear that you're doing well! Prayers that your LAWL appointment is successful.
truetohim, I will be sending prayers and hugs your way.
Everyone else, I hope you are having a nice week so far!
It's a dreary cold morni ng here. I need sunshine!! I've been doing pretty well lately. We took the family bowling on Saturday to celebrate the 2 birthdays. It was a lot of fun. I felt it a bit the next day but not too bad. I think we're going to try to do things like this together more often. It gets everyone moving and it was a lot of fun.
DS is enjoying his job but is home sick today. He got the flu and it keeps hanging on. I sure hope it clears up soon so he doesn't lose this job.
Gary: I tried your salmon recipe on Monday. (The one with ginger, b. sugar, soya sauce, mustard) It was really good. I'm using the leftovers in my salads for lunch.
Christina: I'm glad you're taking a break. It's important to make time for yourself.
Lori: I'm so glad you're doing so much better. You are still in my prayers. I am a faithful American Idol watcher. Who do you want to win? These last 4 are so close it's anyone's guess. In my opinion they all deserve it but I want Chris to win.
WILMA: Well, let's see - I think Chris and Katherine are AWESOME! Taylor is pretty good and I'm not crazy about Elliott. Randy, Paula and Simon were WAY harsh on Katherine last night - she is so good! Thank-you so much for the continued prayers. With God's help and the new meds, I'm doing really really good!
CHRISTINA: Thanks for the prayers! I think I'm finally READY again!
GARY: You are welcome for the pics! Did you get the Indian princesses too???
Can I ask you to pray for something for me? My son (the one who just got a job) has been really sick. He's worked only 2 1/2 days of the last 5. I think it's a really bad flu or cold. He's going to the doctor today if he can get in. His new employer told him yesterday that he won't have a job if he doesn't go in today. He is way too sick to go. I understand where they're coming from but if you're sick you're sick. Please pray that he doesn't lose his job and that he gets over this. It is sooo discouraging for us. He has struggled to find work and he does like this job.
Thank you so much. I do know prayers from my friends here help a lot.
WILMA~ Prayers for your son! He sure is going through a tough time at the moment. I know the job was hard to come by but there will be other jobs. Right now we focus our prayers on his health!
LORI~ So ggod to see you back here. We have been a little "slow' on posting around here. We all have such exciting lives I have actually spent a lot of my time at the American Idol thread making the gals I think your rose shrunk!! I did get the pictures of the four kids lined up, is that the one you meant?
CHRISTINA~ Glad to see you finally got some "ME" time!
WILMA: I will most certainly keep your son in my prayers. That's a shame his employer isn't understanding about his being sick! I will keep it all in prayer!
GARY: Speaking of American Idol! I was SO SHOCKED last night! I always cry when it gets down this close to the end because I really feel for these kids - well Bob and my mom just think I'm NUTS! LOL! Bob goes, "Knock it off!" Well I can't just turn my tears off like that! I figure they'll all get contracts anyway when they've gotten this far though -
Hope you all are doing well - if anyone can figure my rose dilemma out, please let me know! LOL!
Hi everyone! Happy Thursday...almost Friday! It's kind of a grey and dreary day here in FL and I'm a bit under the weather. Kind of nauseated and yuck. I think it may be a new medication my doctor's trying on me, but I'm not sure. Possible I may have some sort of crud...or something. I was able to take it easy last night though. I went to dinner with one of my good friends, who is having a rough time. His marriage is falling apart. His wife just left him one day because she decided she wanted to go off, date, and "find herslef" and she took their two kids with her. There's no official divorce at this point but the future is not looking great. Prayers for him would be appreciated...
That's it for me. I still have lots of work to do, so I'm going to get back to it!
Wilma ~ Prayers for your son. I'm sorry that his employer isn't being too understanding.
Been so busy at work haven't been able to get back, then went to dentist today, and travel agent, put down payment down on next vacation- in Jan. to Carribbean that should be nice. I had agreat vacation, it was fun good weather on the trip I just got back from, we only had one bad day. where heavy winds, and waves ect. But other than that it was awesome went to fast. We went to San Juan- St Thomas, and Tortola- The new cruise I just booked will go out of Ft. Lauderdale to several different Islands. My next get away, not vacation though is in July with youth missions to New Brunswick, which is alot of work but always a good time. Enough about me-

It's finally a sunny day here and the weather is starting to warm up. Should be a nice weekend. To update you on my son: he is still sick and is going to the doctor this a.m. this flu has wiped him out. He did lose his job BUT because he works for a temp agency they told him they might have other jobs for him once he's well so that's what we're praying for. He is so discouraged. He says "When something good happens to me something comes and destroys it" He's suffered so much health wise this past year and I feel so bad for him.
Morning everyone! I am feeling better today, and I'm glad the yuck feeling passed! Today I am meeting DH for lunch which is a special treat. I haven't seen him much at all lately since he's working during the day and going to trucking school at night. He handed in his notice at his job on Wednesday, so this is all starting to feel real! He's already filling out apps for trucking job, so I'm praying that he'll get with a carrier he likes. This afternoon I'm going to work on the old dissertation some more. I hope I have a reasonable draft to show my committee within two weeks!
Wilma ~ I hope your son feels better soon and I'm praying that the temp agency will provide him with another good job opportunity.
Pixie ~ Thanks! It still feels a long way away, but really it's only three months! After five years in this graduate program, I am so excited to be almost done!
Sue ~ I'm glad that you enjoyed your vacation! It sounds like a lot of fun. That's really neat that you're doing a mission trip later in the summer. I would like to try something like that when I have a little more free time and money.
It is 53 degrees and sunny here in southwestern IL! Bob (dh) was off all week and this is the first day for the sun! Hopefully it will stay out all day - we've definitely had enough rain!
SUE: Thanks for the instructions! For some reason when I left click on the properties, it isn't bringing up the address - sigh - I have my kids' pics on here now - I tried to reduce the larger one some more but that's as little as it gets - ahhhhhhhhhhh technology, you gotta love it!!!
Wilma: What is wrong with employers who fired people when they are sick? When I worked at the post office many moons ago I got in trouble for having major surgery every year - now who in their right mind would have major surgery to get out of going to work? I had cysts and tumors all over my female plumbing and had them removed as needed - as if I wanted all that stuff in the first place!!! Then I had a nervous breakdown in '92 and I received a demotion! Prayers for your son in a big way.
