  • Happy Anniversary Wilma!!! Hooray for anniversaries! I've only been through one but it was great!

DH and I had a relaxing weekend. His ankle is already starting to feel a lot better. He is still walking on crutches but is at the point where he'll be ready to start walking in the next couple of days. No further medical intervention (or surgical, whew!) will be necessary. And he is really looking forward to starting driving school in two weeks.

This evening we sat out on the patio to eat dinner because it was gorgeous weather, not too hot or humid yet! We bought some salmon and tuna and DH grilled it up for us. I could have eaten two pounds of the stuff it was so good!

Busy week coming up for me. I have a big presentation, the last one before I get to the BIG PhD defense. It's kind of a dress rehearsal for the big defense, I guess you could say. Hoping that it goes smoothly. It's on Friday. I will also continue in dissertation writing mode. Tomorrow I get to meet an old friend for lunch so that will be a nice break.

I wish you all many blessings in the coming week...

  • Hi there !
I just popped in between getting last minute stuff done for trip, work dayshift tom. then home leave early Wed. morning .
E.Z.- You know me I am so shy and inhibited when it comes to saying what I think! I watched Noah's Ark done for t.v. a couple years ago and they had that all messed up, it was fustrating and I now I think of Lot in the wrong place. They had him panhandling in another boat, right there with Noah. I know that he wasn't there but still catches me. I can understand those that want to see it, but I also think it sends hollywood the message to make more movies like it, and they do such damage. So, I stick to my original answer, I'm not interested. But each to their own, as for luggage- You and angie have no problem there's No limit on it, they know me! I can't pack light, not often anyway. Sounds like your new employee, will have your work caught up soon, so then you can get some R & R , enjoyed your post Satan's meeting- so so true
Beth- nice seeing ya! Glad Easter was great, sounds like you had alot of fun, always is when visiting with family.
Wilma- Happy Belated Anniversary, prayers DS does well on his interview. agree about E.Z. "Satan's meeting" makes ya think doesn't it.
Christina- glad to hear hubby is doing well, prayers school continues well.
Hi to everyone else, gotta run, be back end of 1st week in May, God Bless!
  • This week has started out with confusion again. We were suppose to close on our new house on Thursday but the builder called to say there was a problem. For some reason they did not get the property declared a non-flood zone. This is now going to take 4-6 week to fix. It was disappointing, but we have not sold our house here so it is not a big problem. I am just really confused as to what God is doing in this situation. All last week my devotions were based off of Ecles 3:1-5. These are the verses about time. I know that all things work out for the good and in God's time. I am just not sure what that timing is now.

Thanks Gary for the thoughts about the Da Vinci code. I have decided that I am going to read it for the reasons that you stated. The more we are informed the better we are at witnessing. I mentioned this to my daughter and she said she also wants to read the book because they are discussing it at school all the kids.

Wilma congratulations on your anniversary. We will be celerbrating 21 years in September. Hope that your son was successful at his job interview this week.

Christina it is good to hear that your DH is getting better.
  • Hi!/Bye!
Well! I am off, just popped in to say - see ya! Later! Post when I get back!
  • Hi everyone!

Wow, this thread is quiet this week! Anyway, I hope you're having a good week so far. I'm busy getting ready for a big presentation (which is Friday) but since my brain is feeling fried I thought I'd take a little break from working. I cannot wait until this week is over! DH's ankle is doing better. He is already walking (limping a bit) and driving - of course, typical DH, he did all this before the doctor advised him to. He was supposed to be on crutches for a couple more days. Oh well, what can you do??? Well, he will almost certainly be 100% in time for his truck driving school on May 8.

Sue ~ You probably won't be reading this til later but I hope you have safe travels and I look forward to hearing more from you when you get back!

manvan ~ Sorry to hear about the hassles you are going through with your new house. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be! Prayers that things will come together nicely in a few weeks.

Lots of prayers for all of you!

  • Good Morning!
It's a bright sunny day here and I'm up early. It's been a good week at work so far and today is the middle of the week. I've been doing well with the eating and not so great with the exercise. I'm on my feet most of the day which is nice but I'm really tired when I come home from work in the evening.

DS had his interview yesterday. He says it went well and will hear within the week whether they have a place for him or not. Please pray he gets something for the summer.

Mavnan: It's so frustrating when things don't go the way we expect them to and then to have your devotions talk about time on top of it. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Christina: Glad to hear DH is doing better. How long is the course he has to take? Things have changed so much since my DH got his license. We're just thankful he kept it up even while he wasn't driving. Up here in Canada you have to take the course which costs approx $5,000.00 and then get the license. Praying that your presentation goes well.

Sue: Talk to you when you get back!

Gary: Angie and I just know how to pick good men!!! Every day I look at mine and thank God for him. He's one of the most patient, supportive people I know. We also have a lot of fun together. I have to say that he's my best friend and I guess that's the way it should be, right?

I wish for all of you a really good day!
  • Hi there,I have just joined this website.Looks great.Still finding my way around though. I am a Christian from Queensland, Australia.A homeschool Mum of 4.I have been doing WW for over 2 yrs working there(taking everyones money). I love going, it gets me out of the house and talking with other women. I believe it has, finally clicked for me. I get embarrassed about not getting smaller and working there. I have had a bad 2 weeks since easter. I want to buy new clothes etc.Anyway Hi glad to be here.
  • Eyesarebright: We are glad you joined us. Please post as often as you can. You are going to find this bunch to be very supportive.

Didn't do much last night. I am a BIG Amazing Race and American Idol fan so you can guess where I was last night. After a busy day at work it's nice to escape for a little while.

No word yet on DS's job but I have great hopes!!

    Have a great day!
  • checkin in
Been awhile I know. But have been very very busy re selling of the house.

On the sale of the house - it is a go - it has been SOLD - and am so happy about that. We got what we were asking for it also -

Left here on Sunday and drove to Kamloops to look for a place to live - we are going to rent - Monday at 7:30 we found a place. It is a two bedroom 1/2 duplex no basement. So it means downsizing but that is ok as it is time to do so - when you get to be seniors on a pension you don't want to have a lot of things around that you aren't using - at least we feel that way. The rents are horrible in Kamloops but to buy is out of the question - a very plain 2 bedroom house - old - starts at $175,000. To much for our pension. Some suggested that we look at getting mobile home, putting down $5,000 towards one worth about $40,000 - $50,000 - but all of those are like 25 - 30 years old and just not worth it really in our opinon - and far to small. I couldn't imagine being in a mobile home 12 x 60 even if it had an addition - not after having a two floor house.

The place we are renting is two bedroom as I mentioned - the bedroom are HUGE. We can move in anytime after May 1. We are now waiting to hear back from our real estate fellow to see if the buyer of our home would like to move up the possession date to May 16 rather than May 31. We just would like to get moved now.

Hubby is now doing some cleaning / packing. He has cleaned out the tool shed - good job done - and is working on all of the items under the stairway that goes to the basement - packaging up all his tools extra.

Sometime today I will be packing up all my pigs that I collect - and I must say I have a lot of them to pack - and then I do all the good dishes that we don't use every day. Then comes time to go through all the books - weeding out ones we really want to keep and those that can go to the thrift store.

Figure if we do about 2 hours per day we will have it all packed up in plenty of time.

Doing well with the weight. From March 22 to April 22 (1 month) have lost 5.6 pounds and have walked 71 miles. The program I am using at *********** is really working - am not on a diet at all but with their help am learning how to make very small changes in my life style.

Anyway must go - have lots to get ready. Will check back in again soon.
  • Hi everyone and a special to eyesarebright!

I hope you all have had a wonderful week. I did my school presentation today. We had a crisis with the projector (basically it didn't work) so my committee had to watch the presentation on my small laptop screen but other than that it went well. I will now focus 100% on writing my thesis and will probably defend it sometime in the early part of June. Nervous but I feel more confident now that I know my committee is behind me and approving of my work.

Dh will be starting his truck driving school a week from Monday. His foot is well enough to go ahead. The class will take 4 weeks then he'll start training with whichever trucking company he works for. Another good thing is most companies offer tuition reimbursement so the school will cost us little to no money.

I'm going to get going, but have a grrrrrrrrrrrreat weekend!

  • HI GALS

I hope everyone is doing well. I know it has been awhile since I was here, but not really much interesting going on. Just hanging out watching the NFL draft this afternoon after working this morning for a half day.

Angie and I have the mutts back in "training" at obedience class~ they flunked their first day back! I think maybe their "parents" are not teaching too well.

Son and his girl are looking at the Saturday before Thanksgiving for their wedding if they can secure the hall they want for that day.

CHRISTINA~ great work on the school and DH and his truckin'!

WILMA~I have been over in general chatter American Idol thread making people Hope the boy gets great news on the job. Prayers

MARILYN~ Glad you sold your home ~ big steps coming!

    AUNT SUE~ Out there crusin'!

MAVNAN~ We should start a study on the Davinci Code at church tomorrow.

Well back to the football draft....

    Have a great week-end ladies!!!!!!!!!!
  • Asking for prayers for our CE friend Lori as she is having a difficult time right now.
  • EZ ~ Prayers for Lori. I hope that everything works out for her.

Sprout ~ Glad to hear that the sale of the house went through.

Prayer request ~ for one of my friends R. She has been battling cancer, and just found out this week that her husband has leukemia. She is trying to stay upbeat, joking that they get to be roomies in the hospital, but I know she is terrified about what she is facing over the next few months. Sometimes lightning really does strike twice

So begins another week! It's weird to be in official thesis-writing mode. After all that research building up to it I hardly even know what to do with myself. (Write...) Graduation is so close that I can taste it but I still have so much to do before then. No slacking off for Christina! I have to get my committee to agree on a defense date, write, fill out some graduation paperwork, get the law school paperwork in order, find an apartment in Durham, plan the move, get hubby through truck driving school, and so on...AHHHHHHHHH!!! So much. This is one of those times when I'm trying to put it in God's hands, but sometimes it's hard to surrender it to Him. Part of being a stubborn human I guess Well, I'm sure I'll be through all this soon and laughing about how stressed out I got over everything.

For now I must get back to work. I have to run to the campus bookstore to pick up a few supplies. Have a nice week, and all of you are in my prayers, as usual!

  • Hi everyone

Busy week ahead clearing out house. My son is back between breakes in semester so I have him cleaning out his room. I didn't realize what a pack rat he was. He has books from when he was a child that he doesn't want to part with. I am not sure that his sister and him have got the idea that we are downsizing to a smaller house. In Florida there also is no basement to store things in. Thank goodness the church is having a garage sale to get rid of some things.
Still waiting on God to find someone to buy our house. A lot of houses around here are up for sale but no one is buying them. Still waiting to hear about the one that we are trying to buy.

Christina will be praying for you and your husband in all that you have to get done. It is hard sometimes to wait on the Lord when you are ready to get moving. Will also pray for your friend for strenght and health.
  • Good Morning!
How was everyone's weekend? Mine was very relaxing. After spending the day cleaning, shopping, etc. we had a dear aunt in for dinner. Nice evening. I roasted a pork loin - YUM! On sunday we stayed at church for lunch and then came home and I read all afternoon. I haven't done that in a while and it was wonderful. We had friends in for coffee in the evening. all in all a lovely weekend.

Yesterday, DS found out that HE HAS A JOB! It's a 5 week term with a temp agency but that's okay. He's registered for school in fall so if he can get a few of these temps it'll get him through. A HUGE THANKYOU to all who prayed for him. He is really happy about this and is looking forward to getting out of the house more.

Lori: I am lifting you up in prayer.

Mavnan: I also have a packrat son. We edited stuff when we moved to this house and his room is full again. WIth him I think it's more laziness than sentiment although there are some things from his childhood that he just will not let go off. I think it's kind of neat!

I'm praying for the sale of your house. The right person will come!

Christina: Praying for strenght and stamina for you. I can't even imagine what you have to do. My SIL is a lawyer and she is loving the job.

Gary: Planning a wedding is so much fun. How involved will you and Angie be?

I checked out the American Idol site. Wow! Lots of opinions. Personally, I really like Chris and think he has a real chance at winning.

Sprout: I'm so happy you found a place to move to and that it will suit your family. My prayers for safety and that the move will go smoothly for you.

eyesarebright: How is your week going? Are you heading into your fall season there? Tell us more about yourself.

Well, gotta get going to work. Have a great day!
