Hello all!! I am new to this and was just wondering if anyone could help me out. I can't figure out how to get registered on this link. I am a Christian and trying hard to lose weight. So having other Christians to support would be GREAT. Thanks so much, Mindy

missed you all
Hi All,
Have been away for a while but am glad to be back!:) Many prayers for Christina and family.....what God leads you to, He leads you through! and you've got lots of prayers and support to help you. Glad to catch up on some of the posts as I've been away. Went for a long weekend to visit my younger sister and her family in DC...lots of fun visiting w/ her family....it's easy to forget how much fun and work little people (age 4 and 6) can be. lots of work at school but i'm seeing some progress with my group. my fam is doing ok, DS has some illness issues that are weighing heavily this week but we will be ok as He is in charge.... my best to everyone....chris |
Thanks everyone! I did get to the Dr. right away and got a + urine test (still pregnant for now), but they won't know too much until we get the results of the quantitative blood test back. The # from yesterday and the # they'll get on Wednesday will tell us whether I'm good to go or starting to miscarry.
So I don't have any real news yet, but the miscarriage-like symptoms have let up quite a bit and I'm feeling VERY pregnant this morning (pukey, tired, upset tummy). I feel more encouraged but I will definitely have a better idea when the office calls me with my quantitative blood result. And I thought waiting on law school acceptances was making me anxious?! HA! Keep praying for me, everyone... |
Christina: I am keeping you and your little one in my prayers. HHUUGGSS!!
Mindy: Welcome! I don't know how to register for the links but because you've posted you're one of us now. Post often! Gary: Your recipe sounds great. I know DS would love it. I've taken out chicken breasts for tonight. I'll probably do them with roasted potatoes and broccoli. The doc said I have to lose some more weight and smarten up with my diet so here I go again! My BP can't seem to be controlled with diet anymore so the doc's put me on a diuretic and is sending me for an EKG. I am the only one in my family so far that has high BP and I'm stuggling to deal with it. I know I have to eat better and exercise more. I now have a very serious (to me) reason to do it. Please keep me in your prayers. I'm having trouble dealing with this. Carol: I know what your mean. Just look at the day of eating the wrong things as a pot hole in the road. Climb out and keep on going! My prayers are with you. Have a great day! |
Hi everyone: just a quick update. I haven't heard back from my Dr yet but the scary symptoms I was having yesterday let up and practically disappeared! I am still having beaucoup pregnancy symptoms - tired, queasy, don't want any food, lots of potty breaks, cranky, so maybe things are looking good?
:dunno: I will let you all know as soon as I get the test results...going crazy with the waiting but trying my best not to stress out! :faint: Thank you all so much for your prayers and words of encouragement! Love and hugs :grouphug: to everyone! Mindy, :welcome2: I know you're going to love it here! |
Good afternoon everyone
quite the day here today.
It is son's 18th birthday - he had caused such a turmoil yesterday was not sure about being with him today. But all seems to be back to what could be called normal in this case. Tomorrow we are going to go to the bank and see about a home equity loan or about selling the house - am really thinking it better to sell the house rather than the equity loan. Just before retiring we don't really need another payment. But will see - need to pray about it more - in the meantime we are doing some fixing up - about to start painting the living room and the kitchen and then putting down hardwood in the livingroom - would like the hardwood in the kitchen also but we will see. So much work to do - now if only we had all the money to do it all at one time. Feeling somewhat better - haven't had a bad headache now in just about 2 weeks - so am glad for that. I no most of my problem is due to stress - and to be told 'just relax' well I just can't seem to get that part done - could it be because of the 'mother thing' in me. crk - glad to hear those symptons seem to have disappeared - praying for you, your hubby and bab(ies). wilma - so many people seem to have high blood pressure - makes you wonder doesn't it. My mother and both my sister have it and are on med's for it. Mine is somewhat high but the doc has not put me on med's for it - have to see him about the cholesterol as it is also a concern for me. Praying for you. Chris (keepingthefaith) - glad to see you are back. Having visits with family is so nice - and the children at that age can really keep you going - glad you had a good time. Mindy (alwaysfaithful4him) - :welcome2: I am sure you will find the group here very encouraging - come often and let us know how you are doing. Gary - as always those recipes sound sooo good. No new tails about the dogs? My little guy is really a handful and he is only 10 pounds. So funny when Norm puts the harness on him - he lets Norm put the harness over his head and then he automatically holds up his one front leg (the correct one at that) to put through the necessary spot in order for it to be buckled up. Didn't realize he would learn to do that. Then when we are in the van, Koko wants to sit on Norms lap but only if he will open the window so he can stick his head out. He knows I won't open mine for him to do that. Cold as it is you see him with his head out the window and all the hair blowing behind. And when it comes to eating - Koko knows just where to go. Norm pulls up an extra chair beside him, Koko jumps up on it and waits. Norm than puts some food onto the chair for him so they can 'share.' Of course after all the eating is over with Norm is 'told' wash down that chair now please. Koko never comes to me to get fed from the table - he knows better - we got Koko 1 year ago this week for my birthday - and it has ended up that Koko has definitely become Norm's dog. All the other dogs we have had over the years were very protective of me - but not this one - I can call out and Koko comes running and helps out Norm rather than 'save' me - is actually funny to see. Carol - struggling with food issues / being tempted - difficult isn't it. It has taken some time for Norm to understand this but he is pretty good now at not bringing into the house things that could tempt me - but must admit every so often he does. Funny thing is though that some of the foods that were so tempting before now when I eat them I feel sick to stomach shortly after - must be the Lord talking to me right? Keep on keeping on - you will get there as we all will By the way has anyone heard from Sunny or any of the others that are MIA. Journal of the day will be next post. |

Have you studied God's command and plans for you?
What does he want for your life? |
Thank you so much EVERYONE !!! As I said this is all new to me and I really do apperciate the support. If any of you have any good tips, would you please share with me ? I am doing the body for life program. I done it about 2 1/2 years ago and did very well. But in the last 5 months my dad has had many health problems. I have come to reallity that I am on the same path. I am about to be a grandma(yeah I'm a little young but I'm lovin it). I also have 2 teenaged boys at home. I don't want my family to go through the pain and turmoil of what me and my husband have been through with my dad. So it is time to stand at the plate and get myself in shape. I know I done it once, but this time it just isn't as easy. Once again, THANK YOU!!!

New to site and looking for friends and support
I am also new to this type of support. I seem to have been dieting all my life. Recently had surgery and now I have to keep the weight off or start risking other health issues. I like to exercise but I get tried of eating the same food everyday. Looking for help in new menu ideas and recipies. Have gone back to doing my devotions each day. I haven't been very disciplined in this area for awhile and it shows in the amount of weight that I have gained. Need to get back to the obedience in following God's plan for my life instead of my own. Then hopefully I can get the weight back under control.

Good Morning!
It's a brisk -20C here today. I think we're finally getting winter. The weather has been incredible for which I'm very thankful. I can take a few days of this kind of weather because I know it won't last long.
I've been on the diuretic for one day now. I can't believe how fast they work. I spend my afternoon running downstairs to the washroom. I'm supposed to get more exercise so that's a bonus. I started back into my walking yesterday. I did one mile and I must admit that even though I was tired afterwards I did feel good. Now, I just have to keep it up! I'm going to lick this BP problem!! mavnan: A big welcome to you! The people here are so supportive. I know you'll feel right at home here. I am with you on the devotions. I've been back doing them pretty faithfully as of the New Year. Now I need to spend more time praying. Alwaysfaithful: I'll keep you in my prayers. It's so hard to stay on program. Just keep going!! Sprout: Thanks! I guess I think I'm too young to have this problem when in fact some people have struggled with it a lot younger than me. I'll be praying for your decision with your house. I know how hard it can be to make those decision. You'll make the best one for you!! Gotta get going to work! Have a great day! |
Good Morning!
Good morning everyone! I hope you have all been doing well. We are literally buried in snow with more coming down. It's insane. I can't really complain as it has been the most mild winter in a long time, but, holy cow!:moo: Seems a little ridiculous. Oh well!
I am doing well. Getting ready to go use the bowflex. :tread: Haven't worked out in a few days, so have to get back on track. My husband...who is very overweight, went for his physical yesterday. All his bloodwork came back negative. He's lost 43 pounds since Dec. 1. God is good and I just want to praise Him! :cp: I haven't stepped on the scale this week. Will be surpirsed at my W.W. meeting tomorrow night. :goodscale Christina-Hugs to you and your hubby. Have been praying for you and will continue to pray that God protects you and the baby. God bless you. Mindy-Welcome!!:welcome2: Nice to meet you. You will like this group. I do. I've only been on a few weeks now, but it is a nice place to come for encouragement and lifting up one anothers needs. Praying for your weight loss journey. Mavnan-Welcome!!:welcome3: I stumbled across this website looking for weight watchers recipes. It's a great site. Praying for you to be obedient and to allow the Lord to help you be disciplined. We serve an awesome God. Nice to meet you! Gary- Thanks for the recipe. Sounds awesome!!! Hope you have a wonderful day. Your posts always make me hungry....:hungry: Sprout- Will be praying for your day with your son. That God will direct you with your selling of your house or equity loan, and for you to relax! :beach: Wilma- I don't think I've met you yet, so Hi! I will be praying for you and your blood pressure. Trust the Lord to see you through this. Keep your chin up!:flow1: Carol- Hi there! Keep up the healthy eating, Run the race and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He'll get you through!:carrot: Well, my prayer request is that I stay encouraged with my dieting and I keep in God's Word. I haven't been faithful with my devotions the last 2 days and can really feel it. Please pray for me for obedience. And also that this darn cold would vaporize and be gone. We just can't seem to get rid of it....Thanks so much! God bless you all , Kirsten :snow4: |
Hi everyone, no updates, I'm afraid, but I am leaving for the doctor's office in 30 minutes for another round of bloodwork. Hopefully they will give me the results from Monday. But, in other news...
I got into another law school! With a scholarship offer! :carrot:  :cb: :dancer: UNC - and they offered me a good bit of money, not enough to cover everything, but still a good amount. It will reduce the amount of loans I'll need to get from the six figures to the five figures    So happy! It was nice that God provided me a joyful little distraction while I continue to await news on my pregnancy. I'll keep you all posted! Thank you all so much for your devoted prayers. So much appreciated, and just know that you all are in my prayers, as always. I am so grateful to have your support as I've been going through the ups and downs of the last couple of months. :grouphug: |
Hi all,
Mavnan....Please join us. We welcome you to this site. It has been a big help to me. I am sure it will be to you also. What plan are you using for eating? I think there are several good ones out there. Just plain old common sense, and healthy eating with a little exercise can do wonders all by itself. I personally use Weight Watchers point system. It is pretty basic , and I use a lot of their recipees as well. It helps to prepare ahead. Kristen.....Thanks for the encouragement! I appreciate that. Christina....... I am also praying for you, husband and your baby. Just trust the Lord in this and pray for His will to be done, but don't stop asking Him to take care of your baby and bring health. We must persever in things we want and hope for. God hears you so hang in there! Mindy.......Hi there! So nice to meet you. Hope you can get some support here. I am pretty sure you will. Everyone is so nice in this thread. I feel like family and I have only been around for a couple weeks I think. Join in ! Melinda.......You are right on track. The first step is always coming face to face with our foe. Over eating is definately our enemy. Just do what you know works for you, and if you have something that doesn't go quite right one day then correct it the next. It will work for you. God bless you! Wilma.....thankyou for the encouragement. I need to be reminded that it's not over just because I make a mental error, or just plain give in and eat wrong. Every day is new. Jesus said He is fresh and new everymorning.....so why should we be any different ! WOW....I think I hit a heart string in myself with that one LOL. God's Blessings......Carol |
