Passing by........
Hey everyone.
Christina Yeah. and more to come. You will be able to choose between more than just the one I'm sure, but it sure is great to get the first one. Now you can just sit back and wait for more. :carrot: :bravo: :flow1: :woo: :encore: :cheer: Ok, that's enough. Sue We are right there with you. So many of us can relate. I started at the grocery store. I quit buying so many of the bad things and replaced with better things or things I know I won't eat as much. For example, I used to buy alot of chips. I have 4 kids that take lunch to school and they want chips, except it gets eaten at home too. Now I very rarely buy chips and if they want them they have to buy them at school. Also, I know that when I screw up, I know that I can start over. Plus, we have not 1 but 2 fruit bowls at home. My family and I have done great eating more fruits. Now we need to work on the veggies. That's what works for me. That and constant conversations in the car with God. Yes, people passing by may think I am a crazy woman talking to myself, but who cares. You can do it. Amy Welcome. We are happy to have you here. Come post often. And we love to hear about each others kids.:welcome: Prayers for all. Gotta run. Will be back later. Take care and God bless. |
Hi everyone! I finally had chance to come and catch up on everyone's posts! It's been a busy week and it's nice to have a little breather today! I am going to take myself out to lunch to celebrate my law school acceptance and spend the afternoon catching up on some research that's been neglected FOREVER thanks to my law school apps and presentation.
The new living arrangements with DH are going all right. A little stressful since we're pretty cramped (and DH has a TON of stuff - way more than me) but it will be all right for six months until we move for law school! It will be good practice for living in a small apartment, which we may have to while I'm in school (especially if I go to one of the DC area schools). I suppose I can't complain too much! Blondee ~ I'm so glad that Hope got through her surgery safely! Continued prayers for her and Laura. LydiaMae ~ :welcome2: Gary ~ Lots of prayers for your son! at the Pasta Diet and the other joke you posted. Good thing I can speak Spanish!   Thanks for all the smilies! They made me :D I'm not sure how I'm going to celebrate, but I know I'm going to par-tay this weekend!!! Wilma ~ I hope everything turns out all right with your bloodwork! kirsten ~ Praying for your recovery! 3girls4me ~ :welcome3: MargieB, fitchick2be, JParker777, sprout, pixiefalls, beth, endirka ~ Hi! I hope you all are having a great week! |
Top 10 diet mistakes active people make
Top 10 Diet Mistakes Active People Make
Guide Picks from American Council on Exercise Though active people typically pay close attention to their fitness regimen (proper cardiovascular workout, strength training and stretching) they may be making crucial mistakes in their diet. Not putting the right nutrients in your body could ultimately affect the overall fitness benefits of an active lifestyle. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) shares the following nutrition mistakes commonly made by active people. 1) Skipping Breakfast Experts agree -- skipping breakfast just means you'll be hungrier later, which can make it more difficult to control both your diet and your weight. More: Healthy Breakfast Recipes 2) Not Eating Before a Workout Providing the body with food for energy allows for a better, more productive exercise session. Try eating a pre-workout meal consisting of carbs, a little fat and some protein. More: Eating Before Competing 3) Waiting Too Long After Exercise to Eat One of the best things you can do to prepare for your next workout is eat a small meal that includes both carbohydrates and protein within two hours of your last session. More: How to Feed Your Muscles 4) Replacing Meals with Energy Bars or Replacement Drinks Many energy bars offer little more nutrition than your average candy bar and replacement drinks may lack adequate fiber. There's really no substitute for healthy whole foods. More: Healthy Meal Recipes 5) Eating Too Much Protein and Not Enough Carbs The current popularity of low-carb diets has many people trying to fuel their workouts with poultry instead of pasta. But carbohydrates are essential to effective workouts. More: Energy for Exercise 6) Trusting Dietary Supplements Labels and Claims Because the supplement industry remains largely unregulated, manufacturers can make unproven and untested claims about their products. Do your homework before putting anything into your body. More: Supplements and Sports: Good, Bad, and Unbelievable 7) Consuming Too Many or Too Few Calories for Your Activity Your caloric intake should be sufficient to support your active lifestyle, but not so abundant that weight control becomes a challenge. My calorie calculators include a Calories Per Day Calculator that can tell you how many total calories per day your body is burning, plus activity calorie calculators to determine how many extra you may be burning. More: Calorie Calculators 8) Believing That You Can Eat Whatever You Want if You Exercise Whether you exercise a little or a lot, you still need to follow a healthy, balanced diet and watch you portion sizes. More: Calories Per Day Calculator 9) Not Drinking the Right Amount of Fluids Dehydration can be a serious problem, especially if you exercise in hot, humid environments. Drinking fluids before, during and after exercise will help you maintain adequate hydration levels. More: Water Calculator 10) Jumping on the Latest Diet Craze to Get an "Edge" It's tempting to believe there is some magic formula out there that will dramatically improve our performance or lose weight, but the best approach is to stick to the basics and follow a healthy, balanced diet. Hi everyone ! Hope your day has gone well. It's so nice and refreshing to come here and know that I am among friends and Christian people who care how each of us are doing on our weight loss adventure.
My day has not gone to badly. I had a few extra things today that I had not planned for, but nothing to serious. I am pretty confident I am still within range, since I have my flex points still this week. I find I have some days where I can breeze through, and others when I need a little taste of something that is a little higher in points. ( Weight Watcher at home). I did have 1 brownie ! Sooooo tasty. It was enough to satisfy me so I was happy with myself for not eating more. Congratulations to those who did so good today! Congratulations to those who struggled, but are on track now. We just all have to do what we can, and if we get off a bit then just get right back with it. Many of us, if not all do that from time to time. Jesus didn't point a fingure at us, He just loves us and helps us get going again. Thank the Lord He does. I have a question , I have noticed so many of you have these marvelous graphic on your entries. Where do you get those? They are so cooooool! God's Blessings, Carol |
Hi Again,
Sprout, I answered your challenge just now. I can #1, Trust God more, #2 I can stop telling Him what I need Him to do, #3, Ican be thankful for all progress, no matter if it's a pound lost, or a habit broken! Thanks for making me think. It didn't hurt either LOL ! Carol |

Hi!
It has been about a week since I been here and there was pages and pages, sorry to say I skimmed them to tired to read them all, but wanted to post before going to bed. Thanks to all who said prayers for Maryanne she passed away last Sat. Her funeral was yesterday. She had no family that was active in her life except the staff that cared for her. They were unable to locate her sister. But she is at peace and with Jesus so by far better off where she is now. I been busy with funeral arrangements and planning and all. But now life will return to normal again. We will soon be canvasing for another client to fill the open bed. That always is challenging as sometimes requires going to other facilities, to canvas. But pray the Lord gives someone alot like Maryanne to love and care for.
Welcome to all newbies, since I have been away!! Christina- congrats on news from lawschool how exciting. Beth- prayer is great, and should find time to pray more than I do sometimes gets pushed to the back burner when so much is going on. I am very involved with our youth group, which is very rewarding and fun. We have an awesome group of talented Christian youth. We also take prayer requests very seriously. We have a full page printout every week at prayer meeting for each person, to serve to remind us who needs prayer and we also have a prayer chain when something is urgent and can't wait the chain is called and alot of prayer warriors get busy, it is amazing to watch the Lord work when the answer come back for everything from healing to test results to some one on the way to the hospital who is sick or injured being o.k. E.Z.- sorry guy I still owe some pics I got them developed but wanted to clean them up on my computer as the are cloudy like. Will get them done. I enjoyed Annapolis- It was all about a young man who promised his mom he would go to Annapolis. He gets accepted but tries to make it completely alone. He does alot of growing and changeing through out the movie. My nephew who is so interested in the Navy loved it. He is 15 Kaylee spoiled never !!! Ha ha ha. My father calls her mulelee- because she is so willfull and can be stuborn. I also loved the pasta diet, that caught my attention. There is another movie coming out that is suppose to be really really good. It is called something like "The Pointed end of the Spear" About missionaries that are killed and their wives going back and continue to be involved with the same tribe that killed them. It is suppose to be done from the Natives point of view sounds good though. Well gotta run, tired. I had a trustee meeting tonight at church about finances- boring but necessary and I am whipped. So hi to everyone else, try to post more often now. Gotta catch up on daily devotions another area that was left - behind three days now. Good night God Bless catch ya all later. |
Good Morning!
I have just a few minutes before I head off to work. I'm so glad it's Friday! We are getting overnight company tonight. They won't be here for supper so I don't have to worry about that too much. It'll be nice to see them again.
I've been feeling better about myself lately. It's scary how one little comment can send your confidence out the window. I know I shouldn't let what people say get to me but I guess I want approval too. A co-worker just made a comment in passing that wasn't even that serious but I took it personally. I know I'm too hard on myself and that makes things even harder for me. Everything is okay between us so that's good. Being in a supervisory position is a lot harder than I thought it would be. doitforme: I'm so sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing. You're right though - she's not suffering anymore. Even more tragic is the fact that her family had no contact with her. Gary: Dinner sounds really good. I think tonight I'm going to get DH to order me a veggie pizza. Christina: CONGRATULATIONS! You're on your way! Time has run out and I better get going. Have a wonderful day! |
Hello everyone. I pray that you are having a good day in the Lord. I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I started my life change on Jan 1st so the weight loss didn't start until the 5th, but about 2 plus weeks into the diet change I started breaking out! I now only cook with Extra Virgin Olive Oil , could this be causing my problems ? or is it the way I eat now , I mean I have always ate lots of vegies before and fruits , but could it possibly be the olive oil ? I mean I am 40 years old and am having break outs and never did when I was a teenager! lol . Thanks and God bless

Good morning everyone. Thank you for all the prayers...I am feeling much better now. My throat still hurts, but I know the Lord will see me through this weekend.
Went to WW last night. :dunno: Have been so diligent with diet and exercise this week. Only lost 1.4 pounds. A little depressing, but I'll keep plugging away. My husband lost 5.2 for the second week in a row. I'm so proud of him. We start our new youth group tonight, so would appreciate prayers for our activities. We are hoping to not only provide a fun and safe place for teens, but to inspire them to live wholly for Jesus. I'm looking forward to this new chapter in our lives. A side note, I've discovered that I love my bow flex. I'm using it 2 times a day and haven't been too sore yet. Go figure. I've hated exercise my whole life. (No thanks to gym class in high school I'd bet:coach: ) Lydia Mae ,first:welcome2: , nice to have you here. I agree with your thoughts on praise and worship. It is a battle, but thankfully it belongs to the Lord. I am honored He chose me to fight with Him! Music is a huge part of my life. Praise God He's given me so much to sing about!:flow1: Christina- :cheer:congrats on all your hard work and your good news. I'll be praying that God leads you down the perfect path He has planned for you. Amy- I have 2 girls, 4 and 5, :bubbles:and have a good amount of weight to lose. Hopefully we can encourage one another. Gary- :chef: thanks for the delicious descriptions of your meals, if only I could get my hubby to cook. I'd have it made! Sprout- :angel:thanks for the 10 diet mistakes...very enlightening. I identify with a few. Thank you also for the journal thoughts you post every day. I really take the time to think about my answers..very thought provoking and gets my mind focused on the Lord Higherfaith- nice to meet you..I don't have an answer to your question :chin: as I had the opposite happen. My skin totally cleared up once I started eating healthy and drinking my water. Drinking all that water flushs that bad stuff out. To everyone else...I hope you all have a wonderful day in the Lord. Be encouraged that as we honor Him with our lips, minds, bodies and hearts, He will lift us up and help us clear those hurdles set before us...:grouphug: God bless, Kirsten |
Hi Everyone,
Today is a new day, and the sun decided to shine, but then changed it's mind LOL! Hope all of you are doing good. I am so far today, and I think it will be a good day. I like Fridays, my last day playing teacher to my grandaughter each week. I have weekends off and that is nice. We have to get prepared for a special ministry we provide to people with disabilities one Sunday a month. This is that Sunday coming up. We do a dinner for them, and they all come for a fun time. I think we are up to about 60 now. Plus their care givers. So it is a big challenge. I'm the official cook! Don't know how that happened, but it is fun to see them smile. Many of them are like children and we have adopted all of them. Please pray for them would you please. Got to run now, Blessings to you all! Carol |
Hi!
quick note, I caught up on my devotions. Gotta go to work at 1pm
Wilma- Thanks! Her sister just called this morning she had moved and didn't recieve the letter Maryann was gravely ill. She had not seen her since Maryanne was 18 month old. She was 59 when she passed. Prayers with supervisor duties I know what your talking about. I try to give it all to the Lord, as I believe I work for Him. Sometimes easier said then done. Kirsten- You probably already know this but may not. Your husband will naturally loose much quicker as Males have more muscle tissue, women were blessed with extra fat pads for childbearing. Don't get depressed, also if you are working out you may be gaining muscle tissue, which weighs more than fat so in essence scale may be lying about fitness improving. I am highly involved with our youth group as co-leader with a Godly couple. The 3 of us work together with youth. There are many rewards, and blessings. Prayers yours goes well, and that your ministry bears fruit. Carol- prayers your ministry goes well. I work with very profoundly handicapped individuals. I run a community residence for 4 ladies for New York State. When churches open the doors to them, especially those that can learn with some extra asistance- it is a true blessing. Thanks for being a blessing to those around you! Off to grab some lunch before work! Hi too everyone else! See ya! |
Good afternoon everyone
It is so nice today - sun is shining, it is not raining or snowing - and is actually rather nice out for a short walk.
Lots of people posting in here since I checked in last time - good to see. Am running a bit short on time - need to get back to teaching daughter some school so will have to be quick here doitforme - hope you had a good lunch - and a great day at work. Sorry to hear about your friend Maryann -but she is in a better place - and how sad that her sister hasn't seen her for all those years. Carol - so you teach your granddaughter - interesting. I homeschool my youngest - she is 17 and has Down Syndrome. It is interesting to say the least. Kirsten - keep doing what you are doing - between eating correctly and all the exercise the scale will eventually show results that you will be pleased with. higherfaith - first of all :welcome2: As for the changes you are experiencing -it not go that way for me at all so not sure what to say. wilma - having company is nice - as long as they don't stay too long. hahah. My dear father used to say 'company is nice but after 3 days they smell' and I must say after about that length of time it is nice to get back to the regular routine. We are a people of habit - and when someone comes and says something that for whatever reason we take wrong - it can hurt - but we have to remember to try to let it fly over our heads as the person that said it is not worrying / fretting about it but has probably forgotten it. Harder to do than say though right Gary: Your meals always sound so appetizing. Keep telling us about them. As for the Ghost Whispter am going to try to watch it tonight - and share my thoughts about it with you Jouranl thought to be posted in next post |
