Prayers for you and your family HILARY!
Off to work.............. |
Gary: I will definitely keep Ryan in my prayers. That IS a tought decision to make. He'll make the right one!
I took out chili for tonight. I'm getting better at getting meals ready for the week so I'm a little more prepared when I get home from work. I had my blood work done last week and the doc wants to see me. I think it's about my Cholestrol but will have to wait til Monday to find out. I think that's what's got me in a bit of a depression. I was sticking to my diet really closely and have lost 20 lbs in the past year but when I went in to see her for my yearly my BP was up again. I really don't want to take the medication. I will try not to stress about it until I find out exactly what she want's to see me about. Sprout: Hasn't it been a wierd winter? We are usually in a deep freeze right now but it's been consistantly around the freezing point. The roads have been slushy all winter - never heard of! We broke all sorts of records dating back over 100 years ago. I for one am enjoying the warmer weather. It's such a nice break. Glad to hear you're doing so well with your walking. I am going to get going too. I know I need to exercise but I just haven't had the umph to do it. I just need to get going and then I'll be okay again. carol: Welcome! I hope you'll come often. this is a great place to be no matter what stage you're at in your weight loss journey. Margie: I should follow your example and keep track of what I do for exercise. It might inspire me. I'm on my feet a lot at work so I find it hard to exercise in the evenings but maybe if it's just for a few minutes?? ttmom: Another example for me to follow!! Is your Y close to you? Well, gotta go to work now. I wish I had time to address everyone! Have a super day. |
Good morning crew!
Prayers going up for all in need..Hilary, for you and your family..Gary..for your son and his job decision.....and for your pastor! That was the response I'd "lost"! I did read yours about the golf ball hit, and the other one as well. VERY bad... OUCH! And what a good thing to do, having the tournament in honor of Wade. Praise God for the safe return of many of our troops.....and prayers for the family's of those lost. We rent to so many of them at our facilities. The family I work for has 3 locations and we have the Air Base here. Our manager at one location has a son over there. Ryan got to come home for a month and went back. Another manager has a son-in-law there. Hello Carol! And Lori! Howdy Margie! It's good to see you all here! I got a "scare" a few minutes ago..computer freezing up, kicking me around..I logged off, tried to log back on and got an error message...something about "missing kernal blah blah no can do,girlfriend"? Like Four times. So I thought maybe she's crashing on me? I mean HE's crashing on me? My truck is a girl, this computer a guy. Anyway..had to shut down manually and restart...and hooray! it worked. Anyway.....I wdid NOT get anything constructive done yesterday so will try again today. I did get lots of good rest and let me see..I'm doing James Burke, James Siegel and a Robin Burcell this week, Gary! I did the Siegel one on Sunday...yep the whole book. "Derailed". No wonder I get no work done! SHHH! I'm off to get me some breakfast. I long for IHOP but refuse to spend the money right now. Yep, Gary..where did the lovely $4.00 breakfast go? I remember the .25 cent coffee too. I think gas was .89 cents a gallon somewhere too! Have a good day all...be good to you and yours and be more blessed than stressed! Bren |
Hi everyone. I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long. I've been horrilbly sick with the flu. My husband and 2 little ones had it, too. So, I've been trying to take care of them plus get myself on the mend. Praise God we're feeling better. Not 100%, but getting a little better everyday. I still have no singing voice and have worship to lead Friday night and Sunday morning, so would appreciate prayers for that. I will have to take some time and go back and read all the posts I have missed later. Have to get my 4 year old on the school bus in 20 minutes. God bless you all. And sorry again for "disappearing."
In His Grip, Kirsten (pronounced K-ear-ston, yup I'm a Swede) |
Hi everyone, sorry that I've been MIA for a few days, but I had a big presentation for school this morning and was holed up :write: preparing for it earlier this week. The good news is that it went very well, and I got a lot of positive feedback from my co-workers. There were a few technical difficulties getting my laptop hooked up to the projector, but no biggie. I am breathing a huge sigh of relief now that it's over!!! (Of course I have another in a few weeks - that's how it goes in the final year of a PhD program!)
I have to get back to work shortly and eat lunch :hungry: somewhere in there, so I will catch up with individual posts later, but I will talk to you all soon! All of you are in my prayers, as always! |
Hi Everyone,
Nice to meet all of you. Gary, have a great day at work ! Wilma........Thanks for the greeting. Hope your day is going good. I appreciate your friendlyness. Blondee......Hi to you also. Praying is a big plus on this Thread! How great to know people care enough to take time for another person. That's what it is all about now isn't it. None of us need to be alone in our daily struggles. Fortunately we all have one another, plus the biggest thing is the Lord. How sweet it is! Kirsten.......Hope your singing voice gets up to par quickly. I will pray for you. I know how very important praise & worship is to the flow of a service. Many times in scripture Israel sent out the musicians before they went into battle. I guess that's why I enjoy having a song in my heart and worshiping the Lord so much. I know it helps me overcome lifes struggles. My husband pastors an Assembly of God church here in our community. We've been here for 23 yrs. now. Unless the Lord changes things we will be here until hubby retires. ( From Pastoring that is, not from ministry ) We will always be involved in God's service in one capacity or another until we meet Him one day. My day is going good. Staying out of things to eat pretty well. Struggled a little just before lunch, but I think I have it under control now. I see to have a few minutes a couple times a day where I just want to eat. I try not to at those times, but if the urge is to strong I grab something low points, or no points to eat. ( I'm on Weight Watchers at home) So far so good. Going on 2 weeks now. This isn't new for me, as I have lost on this plan before. Three years ago I lost 93 pounds, and then got lazy. Needless to say I gained a lot of it back. Not all however, so that is good. Well everyone take care. I will pray for all of you today. Life is good! God's Blessings........Carol |
Lots to read here today!!
Just logged on and found a lot of posts to catch up on - great.
Is overcast here - wanting to snow but a bit to mild so it is drizzling rain. Yuck. But it is nice in the fact that it is melting the ice and snow Hubby just went to a meeting at work - and Koko (our dog) is driving me around the bend. Koko knows Norm has not left for work as he did not take his work bag - and when Norm leaves without him he drives me crazy. He is sitting on the floor by my feet whining - sounds between and whine and a howl - and he has been out for a walk already and for a car ride - oh for the day to come when Norm is retired and the dog can be with him 24 / 7 :D :D crk: glad to hear your presentation went well. Keep coming back when you can and sharing with us how things are going kirsten: sorry to hear that the family has been sick - I know up here where we live there is a lot of strange flu and colds going around - but so far we haven't gotten it - have felt a bit strange but not sick enough to stay in bed. As for your name - it is very pretty - we have friends that have a daughter with this name Bren - isn't it something how we react when the computer does these things - mind you when it does 'go down' it can be costly to get it back up and running - thankfully you didn't have anything serious there. Sounds like you are a reader also - I average 1 book a week and when I think of it I really don't know how I fit it all in - but I do - must be because I enjoy reading. Just about finished a good one right now - 'Last Light' by Terri Blackstock. Very easy read and very enjoyable. About all the power - for eveyrthing - goes out and how these people in a big city suburb handle it - something along the line of Left Behind - good read. Wilma - Chili - hmmm sounds good - haven't made that in awhile - will have to make up some in the coming week - usually make up enough that I can freeze enough for 4 - 5 extra meals. Isn't it something when the doc's call us back - can be scary but if it is your cholesterol this can be monitored rather easily - hubby has just gone on med's for this even though he is as skinny as can be but his was high and doc thought it best for him to go on meds. Yet the doc I go to won't put me on it even though mine is a bit higher so I will be seeing my doctor again within the next 2 weeks to talk about this. Not that I want to be on meds but if mine is higher and there has been heart problems you would think he would suggest the meds. I know for the blood pressure the walking has really helped me. I have just purchased a funnly little thing from Avon - you sit on your kitchen chair and pedal - something like riding a bike - but it was such a nice price I couldn't turn it away ($30.00) - my daughter loves it - so now both of us are going to be Walking Away the Pounds as well as the pedal machine. pixiefalls - praying for you and your family Gary: I like that pasta diet and the info on the other countries and that it is English that is the problem. As for the prayers for your son - he is being held up before our Lord and Savior - he will make the decision that he is to make. Will have to see about watching Ghost Whisper on Friday - did not see the ads for it - will have to pray over it before watching - so that of us that 'know better' will not be affected and for those that watch and don't understand about people 'passing over' will go to those that can give them the correct answer. Did I make myself understood - not sure if I did. My son - prayers for him - it will be a year that he has not lived at home - he is doing terrible in school (went from B+ to failing and C- average) and just in general is on the wrong road for having a successful life - hard to watch but he won't 'listen or take advice from his dad and me' as he says 'he has matured and can handle it all' prayers are what is needed at this time - prayers that son will open his ears and eyes and realize he needs to ask for help and guidance that he doesn't 'know it all'. At this time it looks like he is heading towards being a burden on society - by this I mean welfare. He just is not interested at all in any kind of work - wants / feels that everyone else should support him due to to the fact that (1) he is adopted (2) he is half native american and half Italian. We love him dearly and did what we could to instill good values and all in him as well as helping him to be proud of who he is but when he became a teen - like he closed his eyes on all that he had been taught and reopened them to see things so differently. Anyway please continue to pray for him. ttmom - keep up the good work with the exercise - we don't have a YMCA here but it would be nice if we did. Will post the journal of the day shortly. |
Journal of the day
Do you doubt God's care for you?
Have you been trying to reach your goals without His help? Tell God about it and ask Him to lead you to victory. |
Hello to all
It is so awesome to see all the new people. Welcome to all of you!
It got busy yesterday at work. I was typing proposals for 2 different salesmen and everyone else needing something. It is funny how some days can be a sleeper and others just the opposite. I like to keep busy. Marilyn We are having a bit of rain here too. Except it is kinda warm. I have been doing alot of walking too. I am hoping that I will eventually be able to get off my BP medicine. I think I might check out Avon to for the little bike thingy you were mentioning. It sounds neat. Lydia Mae Welcome. I used to be on WW now I go to TOPS with my mom. We just got started a couple of weeks ago. My downfall is in the evenings when I get home from work. I crave salty snacks. Chips, peanuts, pickles. Pickles is my drug. I am addicted. I think it has something to do with my BP medicine. Anyway, that is the monkey on my back. Otherwise during the day at work (controlled environment) I do OK. Post often. The more support we all have around here the better. Christina So glad to hear that your presentation went well. How have your new living arrangements been for you and DH? Hope it goes well. Kirsten Prayers for continued healing for you and your family. The "yuck" has been making rounds all over. I think my household and work area are all back to good health for the most part. Well Swede, I'm a Dane. So I guess that makes us fellow Scandinavians. :) Bren Ditto on the prayer for our troops. I don't think there is anyone out there that doesn't have a family member or close friend that isn't over there. For me it is my cousin (marines - flies cobra helicopter) and best friends little brother (army - jumps out of helicopters/planes). Fortunately they are back here for now. But no one knows for how long. I can sympothize with you on the computer. I was having problems with my Outlook at home last night. It kept freezing up. It is time to reimage my computer. That will have to wait till the weekend. Wilma Good luck at the doctor's appointment. It can be daunting not knowing what's going on with your own body. Good luck also with the exercising. Getting motivated can be difficult. I find myself getting sidetrack after a couple of weeks being good about it then I stop for another couple of weeks. I try really hard during lunch to at least go walking and some days I do my upper body workout with my hand weights. I am thinking it isn't enough though. Hilary Hey - prayers for your family. Hope everything is going well for you. Remember we are here for you. :^: Gary Hey, I like pasta. Tee hee. Cute. I will definately remember your son in my prayers. It sounds like either way he chooses will be a good deal for him. He just needs to evaluate and figure out how much that 5000 would mean to him. ttmom Way to go on the YMCA. Keep up the good work. Do they have babysitting there? That would be really nice. Margie Yeah for your nephew being back home. That is awesome. Sorry to hear about the union contract failing. Prayers for you on that one. It is good that you are taking a class. I always loved being in school and learning new things. We get to do our taxes this weekend. We could do them now, but DH is in class tonight and working late all this week. Gotta run. Have letter to type. Take care and God bless. |
OK, everyone, just stopping in because I have some great news (this one's for you Gary!)...
I GOT MY FIRST LAW SCHOOL ACCEPTANCE!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Out of the blue, the Dean of Admissions at one of my schools (one of the more desirable ones, at that) called me to offer me a place in the 2006 entering class! I was so excited that I could hardly respond. She also mentioned the possibility of a fellowship, which means less student loans. I'm so excited! Have a great evening everyone! |
Congratulations Christina!

Hello
Good Morning,
I was so happy to find 3fatchicks.com, I was hoping to find a place for support, information and here it is, then to be blessed to find Christian Encouragers support group. God lead the way! My name is Amy, I'm married, I have 3 girls, and have been way over weight since the becoming pregnant with my first girl 8 years ago. I"ve lost weight at times, even up to 40 pounds, but have always regained it, due to stress, etc. I truly want to be motivated and just by reading these posts I feel enlightened. I look forward to coming to this site for support and to give to support, and with God on our side! How awesome is that! Amy:hug: |
Hello everyone!
Welcome Amy!! I'd do some of the cute smily things if I could.....they are there in my mind! LOL! Christina! HOORAY! WOW! That didn't take long and from a top contender as well! Woohoo! (insert dancing nanners and stuff here.) Gary..I printed the Pasta "Diet" and other to share with my co-worker. That was FUNNY! Sue.....I too have lost my grip and tho I sent the sugar devil to New Zealand and my friend assures me he's parked at her place, he must have underlings to kick our butts while he's away. Did you take notes, make plans at the first of the year? WE can do this! It's God's will and our desire, that we have a fit body, and be in the best condition we can be. God will provide the INSPIRATION and the PERSPIRATION is our part! Do again what you know works..I will as well. We won't let another week slip away without working on our goals, feeding ourselves healthier foods and moving.....MORE! We all hit the wall occasionally and may stay down a few days but we are NOT quitting and will never give up! Know that God is bigger than anything and he cares about this part of our lives as much as any other. Let's pick up, dust off, get back on the wagon and carry on! Prayers for all of us here......for various needs and heart's desires..to be met and exceeded abundantly. Love and hugs....Bren |
