Morning. Yesterday was fun. Left work early to take my DD (see I am getting the hang of it) to the doctor. She was having serious abdominable pain. The conclusion was stomach virus, plus she had milk for breakfast and stomach virus and milk.......well you know. She's ok. Lotta of crud going around. Is it just here or everywhere that crud is running rampant. Both kinds - stomach and flu/cold? Mike's (guy at work) wife is resting now. She is worn out from all the testing. They found a small hole in heart valve and they are checking for gallbladder problems too. Still waiting to hear final word. Now she feels fine. Thanks for prayers.

Prayers for - praise for Michele's beautiful baby girl; prayers for Wilma's son to find another job he likes and for the doctors to have the wisdom to diagnose and heal his ailment.

Way to go and keep up the good work - Hilary you have done fantastic for just getting started and in several months you will be knocking em dead with a lean mean body. Marilyn your perseverence is inspirational to all of us. One day at a time.

Christina - almost a graduate (Masters too) Awesome girl. Good luck with the applications.

Sunny D and Michelle - Where are you? We miss you. Hope you are doing OK.

Hi - Gary, Lori, Margie, Diane, Blondee, Wilma.......and aw heck, there's so many of you - hope I didn't forget too many.

Gotta run - will post more later - work has come in for me to do.

Default Hi ya!

Sorry! I was gone longer than I thought I'd be, last post was 12/23 I had an awesome Christmas and a great New Year's Eve. I organized the New Year's Eve celebration at church, we played biblical pictionary, bible trivia, and name that hymn snacked, and spent time fellowshiping and reliving the events of the last year. Kaylee did well for Christmas (my Chinese niece.) She took all day to open her presents as facinated with the paper as much as the gift. She was alot of fun. Maryanne my client returned home on O2 and new meds, there is no treatment really except making her comfortable, but at least she got to come home, and didn't have to move to an alternate location. I think I got caught up with reading but apologize in advance for anyone I leave out and pray you all had an awesome holiday.
E.Z.- Happy New Year! so sorry your team lost. I agree love the Christmas story especially the dogs running through the house. Our niece was scared of her rocking horse, but within a couple days was sitting ot it. I gotta get my pics developed then will send one. I do have a couple to post that where taken by friends that were up from N.Carolina, they e-mailed them to me so I can post that one.
Blondee 51- prayers for you! that your able to hear well again, and prayers for cecila! Thanks for praying for Mary anne.
Margie- I fully understand the need of seniority as I work for the State Goverment and that is what determines who switches shifts locations ect. pray it all works out.
Beth- how exciting a new car maybe.
Welcome to all those newbies! (soybella 716, sandygirl, sharon- prayers for Jackson, and son, diane- agree loved the movie, rollingstones, miarocks, keeping the faith, mel and anyone else i missed

Default me again!

Sprout- glad things are going better for the most part. I agree loved Narnia- but wish they had made Asland- more regal and the scene on the stone, more of impact. then they did, I am not sure that anyone that doesn't really understant Salvation will get the dipiction of Christ. One can only hope. Over all very well done though I thought. As far as New years resolutions- I am trying to be better about being in God's word daily and praying more, and starting prayer journal so can see the hand of God working even more.
bunna, and canadian mickey-WELCOME BACK to both of you! Sorry to hear about your trials of the last year, pray for a better year in 2006, but know that Faith in the Lord will take you through the storms of life.
Hilary sounds like your busy busy busy working out- you go girl!
Christina- Prayers all works out with school and you get some R & R timeas well.
Wilma- I am sure you'll get back on target and loose that two pounds you have done so awesome.
Lori- sounds like your doing well I could go for your idea of decadence, I love chocolate.
hi to all I missed and all MiA's sunny mitchy ect. I have a terrible chest cold, and am working a double today, OT comes in handing paying Christmas bills though so catch ya soon.
post one more time today new pic! Love Sue

Hi, Sue - your neice is such a doll.

Just got back from looking at facilities for my 20 year class reunion. The committee changed the date from June to the last weekend in September. Yeah. 3 more months to lose more weight. All of you are going to have to keep me motivated and going. I want to WOW them with how great I look. Tee Hee.

Default some good news and not

Hi All....thanks for the warm welcome i'm having a mixed week...some good news and some tough days at school (i'm a reading teacher). the good news is my nephew is on his way home from iraq, having finished his third tour. ..the tough days at school are because we are having quite a problem with violence. since i'm an emotional eater, this week i had tons of chocolate! but i have also been walking about 3/4 mile outside and some at the mall almost every day...soooo i guess it has been a wash since the scale didn't move. frustrating! thanks again for the warm welcome and i hope to be a "regular" soon.

Smile Feeling so good

I have been able to walk to the walking tapes for 6 days in a row - that is really a biggy for me.

And the food consumption is beginning to look different re portion size - I am really aware of not putting a large amount in everytime I sit down to eat. And I do believe it is going to pay off.

Keeping the faith: How nice it is that your nephew is coming home - I am sure the whole family is going to be very happy about this. Violence in the school - we have it here to and we are a ver small communit - don't like it at all - as my son told me the other day when he visited - kids just don't care today and are so bored that they think they have to fight to have fun - and this from our troubled son that does not want to live at home - guess we might have done something right. Keep up the exercise you will see more results soon

Beth - 20 year reunion how nice. My older sister (she is 10 years older than me) well her and her hubby just celebrated 45 years of being married and during the summer returned to our hometown to celebrate their 40th reunion - hard to think of my sister being that old when thinking of reunions but in fact I don't think she is old at all - even though she is 67 and I am 57 (have a sister in between there also) and we don't feel our age at all - except for the aches and pains - guess I must be feeling my age.

doitforme - Kaylee is so sweet. My younger brother married a Japanese girl and had three beautiful children. Unfortunately 16 years ago when he was 33, wife 33, and kids ages 11, 9, 6 they were in a fatal plane crash - he was the pilot and they were flying back east for the first family reunion in 25 years of Margaret's family. Dan (my brother and baby of our family - only brother), Margaret and their youngest - Danica were killed but the two boys survived. The oldest of the 2 boys has been married a number of years and his wife's name is 'Dani' - makes us all feel so good as that was his dad's name - and they just had their first baby - a littler girl - named Katie Margaret (Katie after Margaret's mother and after Margaret) She is so sweet - not looking very Japanese though as Blair (my nephew) was 1/2 so it is getting 'watered down' but what a beautiful 'mix'. Your comments about the movie - I do agree with you - the death scene of Ashland could have been a bit more dramatic to put over the significance - but it was still a good movie. Try to go see the movie 'Rumor has it' - we saw it the other night and had a very good laught very funny

Beth - sorry to hear about your DD - hope she is getting well. Lots of flu / colds going around up here in my part of Canada also

Diane: The battle wth cancer has been a long one - but I have been really blessed as so many others have suffered so much more than I have. My first bout with it was in 2000 when I needed to have surgery, then in 2003 I was rediagnozed and needed 9 weeks of radiation - that was a bummer - the treatment didn't hurt but feeling ill was not nice, takes a lot of your energy - and unfortunately I have all the top side effects fromthe radiation - permanent damage - but I feel blessed as I am still here and last March was 2 years clear so am praying that my next exam will be the same making it 3 years - bad side of it all is that when I have to be seen by the doctor I need to go to the hospital and be put to sleep as the radiation has done so much damage that they cannot exam me with me away due to the pain of the procedure - to much scar tissue. But God is good and I believe He is keeping me free from this disease

If I have missed anyone - sorry

Will be updating my weight tracker on Monday but sneak preview shows that I have lost 1 1/2 pounds since Sunday so am hoping to be able to show on the tricker 2 pounds gone - but will wait patiently to record it the.

January walking goal: 31 miles
Miles walked in January: 8 miles
Miles to be walked to reach goal 23

Cool Tgif

HI GALS

I have a few minutes to catch up while my wife and daughter go on a run with my dogs. My wife is training again for another 5K in April, daughter always running or exercising anyway so she will be ready. My son will probably run in it and I will walk it most likely. It is the worlds fastest 5K, very big event here in Carlsbad Ca. I have run/walked it several times over the years but not for a few now.

ANGIE and I are celebrating our #10 anniversary today

AUNT SUE~ You are back! Kaylee is so cute, and you sure can tell how SMART she is from the picture too. Sounds like you had a great time at Christmas and New Years. I watched a MONK marathon that week-end. I had never seen it before ~~ got hooked! I just noticed the signature thing too. Prayers for Maryanne.

MARILYN~ You are workin' it girl What a sad story about your brother and his family. Your family sure has had some tough luck the last few years hasn't it?

DIANE~ Sounds like your guys like to eat like myself and nephew. My wife and kids are much better eaters than us two. All that athletic training for high school and college sports paid off in their mindsets on food and health. My two kids are out of college and work full time, but they still find time to run or work out almost everyday, my step daughter is down to one sport now, still in high school, but she works out most days too. Now me and my nephew... ...hardly ever.

KEEPING THE FAITH~ Congrats for your nephew. A good friend of our family from church and school was killed in action there last year, 26. We have another dear friend there now in the Army he is Juan, 24. He should get home in Janruary too. My wife is a 6th grade teacher, she was attaked last year by an 8th grade boy, it sure is getting bad isn't it? My son is a first year high school history teacher.

HI WILMA~~ HILARY~~BETH~~CHRISTINA~~ where are you SUNNYD and MICHELE and all the others...have to run..........

Gary

Wow you guys, the violence in school is now hitting us right in the stomach here. I live in a very small community. We do have a large juvenile hall and jail but house lots of out of county inmates. (husband works for probation). This last month we had some death threats against a vice principals at the one jr. high that holds most of the delinquent kids. It's the main school for one town but it's district is where all the low income...not that low income makes you a bad person. I'm not making a stereotype comment...here there are a lot of low income people who live involved in drugs and bad stuff. I have good frineds who's kids are there and that's what scares me. 6 girls decided that they were going to kill the vice principal because she put one of them on restriction. They had the whole plan and were ready to go for it. One of the girls got a conscience and told the principal about the whole thing. They were finally charged and expelled. The paper said if they do well on an alternative program this next year they can come back to the school for the next year. What??? This is how things get out of hand. These girls need some help and they shouldn't come back to public school until they get it!
That was the long way around that wasn't it?
That's all!

Mel, oh honey, schools are getting so bad lately! I'm a Senior this year in high school and we have had 3 bomb threats since it started in August and one terristic threat. *shakes head* not to mention all the fights.. It's so awful.

Gary -- Hey there, what's going on lately and what's on the menu? .. You guys seem to have the best food over there.

Sue!! There you are. I'm glad you had a wonderful time over the holidays! Haha I'm trying and it's making me feel so good.

Beth, thanks a bunch, I really hope to. Are you going to the gym?

Wow, I found this thread almost two months ago.. and it's been great. But where has the time gone? On a different note, I went to the gym tonight.

Default Some thoughts

Just reading the posts before I head of to bed thought I would comment here

Gary - you mentioned all the things that have happened to us. It is that time of year that it really gets me thinking about it all. Don't mean this to sound morbid or sad in the wrong way but a lot has happened to the family. As mentioned in my previous post re the death of my brother, sister in law and their 6 year old daughter. This happened 1 week after having a big celebration for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We were blessed that we were all together at that time - and during the dinner my son (parents only son and their youngest child) got up to talk on behalf of us siblings - we were so glad that he did that because of what happened one week later. At that time also my dad was very very ill - doc's could not pin point it but he was having a terrible time breathing and we all believed it was his heart as most of his siblings had heart problems. Anyway, a week later his only sons passes on but bless dad's heart he handled it so well. We got through the funeral considering and then dad took a turn for the worst. Nine months to the day dad died - we kept him home with mom with us three girls staying wit them helping to take care of him as he needed 24 hour care but 1 week before he passed on he had a heart attack and needed to go to the hospital where he passed on. After his death and autopsy we were told it was not his heart at all but lung cancer - he was not a smoker - but had worked in an asbests mine 51 years ago for 1 year - the cancer had done a thing on his lungs. We recover from that and then in Feb 2000 my oldest sister had to have a kidney removed due to arthritis - the meds damaged the kidney but thankfully she is doing fine. Then in September of the same year I have my cancer operation. The year before - 1999 - Norm's younger brother - was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder - was operated on also and was doing fine when I had my surgery. In 2001 Norm's brother remarries a very nice girl - lots younger but finally he had a soul mate - but his cancer came back and he was not doing two well. His wife get's pregnant and was due to have her baby December 2003. Beginning of November 2003 Les took a turn for the worse - asked the doctor to tell him what the baby was as he didn't believe he was going to make it till the birth - he was told it was going to be a girl - 5 days later Les passed on and 3 weeks later his widow gave birth to their only child - a girl which was named after her father - Leslie. When Les was in the hospital it was so sad - the med's were not helping at all and he was in so much pain. Meanwhile Norm's dad was not feeling well - took a bad turn (age 83) and finally got him to go to the doctor due to the pain - pancrease cancer - had to admit him to the hospital and we were told that if he lived 1 month it would be something - and in that month our daughter was getting married - she married the week before her grandpa passed on. It was so sad as he was in so much pain that they just kept him so full of meds that he would just sleep because when he was awake he would just rock back and forth due to the pain. After the autopsy the hospital wanted $1,000 to have the funeral home pick up the body and take it over to the crematourim - 5 blocks. That was money that just wasn't there and seemed so out to lunch re the amount. So Norm's other younger brother - bless his soul- went to the lumber yard, bought some lumber, made a make shift 'coffin' then borrowed a friends truck, drove to the hospital, went to the morgue, and actually carried his deased dad out of the hospital and put him into this make shift coffin and drove him to be cremated. Makes me want to cry as it was a hard thing to do but as Lylie said it was the last thing he could do for his father - same his mother a little bit of money - as his father had said - do not spend a lot of money on burying me - your mom needs all the money she can get.

Anyway, this is the time of the year that I get to thinking of all of the family but I am blessed in the fact that the all knew Christ before dying so I know where they are - -

God is an awesome God isn't he!!!!!

Smile Good morning all

Sprout.. Thank you for sharing your story with me. God is good. Trusting in Him is the only way to go.
Gary.. Congrats on the 10 years!!!! June will be 20 years for my DH and myself. And those boys. Yea. Never were the sport playin type. Mostly watching!!! The eating right and moving like we all need to is not something that comes to us naturally. Hay.. I have ran/walked a few 5K's, a half marathon and two marathon's!! Good luck in the one that is coming up for you. Do you have a time goal for yourself on this one??
Figgykitty. The violence in the schools is terrible. And all the time we have people fighting to keep God out of our schools. It is no wonder there are so many problems. My BIL and SIL are both guards in a prison here in my state and I worry about them all the time. Fortunatuly they both have God in their lives and I know that He watches out for them.
Everyone else.... Good morning and my God bless your steps this day!!!

Smile Saturday Morning

GOOD MORNING GALS

A super day here in southern California, supposed to be in the high 70's again today. A great day for my wife's 40 "something" birthday She took the dogs out for a short 2 mile walk/jog this morning...still out there. She was going to take it a little easy since her and my daughter ran them pretty good on a 3 miler yesterday.

In case Angie "lurks" in today...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE

We are taking the kids to our favorite Italian spot for dinner tonight. We realized that my son was the only one who had ever gone there with us ~~ once~~ and we have been going there for about 8 years! Usually we bring the kids a pizza for dinner or ~~ as in most cases~~ they have already gone out for their evenings with girl/boy friends. Which I like 'cause it saves me $$$

DIANE~ WOW! I am impressed ~~ GOOD FOR YOU! 2 marathons...Angie and I walked a marathon in 2001, we trained for it with a group for 6 months. We had pretty good times for it...5 hrs. 43 minutes which is pretty good for walking. We were the second fastest in the walking group (the speed walkers did not go in our group). We had a goal of 6 hours flat so we were very happy ~~ and TIRED!! I have only one goal for this 5K coming up ~~ FINISH!! I am so out of walking shape right now. Angie and I used to do quite a few 5K's, our son ran track and cross country in high school and college so we were always around it. We haven't done much in the last couple of years ~~ Time to start again!! The last time I was in the Carlsbad 5000 I ran it ~~ slow of course I forget exactly but my time was around the 6 minute 20 second mile figure. I could NEVER do that again! I will stay with walking! I am a much better walker than runner!

MARILYN~ Thanks for sharing your story. Every family has their pain ~~ seems some families take too much of the burden though, doesn't it?

HILARY~ Since it was my anniversary last night Angie and I celebrated by having leftovers and watching an old CSI, Ghost Whisperer, an old Law and Order and Monk on TV (that's what happens when you get old ). Besides tonight we are taking all the kids out to celebrate our anniversary and Angie's birthday. The menu for Thursday night was ANOTHER macaroni and cheese dish! Now up until the one I made last week, the last time I made macaroni and cheese was before I married Angie in '96! Now twice in two weeks This one I will probably never make again, it was way too rich with fontina cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese and a lot of whipping cream. The one I did last week was better, easier and better for you. It had cream in it but less, less cheese too, and only 10 ounces of gruyere cheese. Wednesday was pizza for the crowd that was here watching football. Tuesday I made a really super easy orange chicken and rice dish. You stay safe at school! I worry about my wife and son teaching, and my step daughter and nephew that are still in high school....guess it really doesn't matter where you are these days does it? Prayers for your safety.

MEL~ Ditto for the prayers for safe schools in your area. You are correct about the low income areas, it is just a fact and understandable. Unfortuntely, I think we try to be so PC these days that we fail to correct problems because we don't want to hurt anyones feelings!

LORI and MICHELE~ Where are you? Eloped with junior Michele? Lori did the boys tie you up

HELLO TO EVERYONE ~~ HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END!!

Gary

Default hi there!

I popped in real quick, gotta go to work, by 3:30pm, Wow! what a sad story sprout, but you are right praise the Lord you will see them all again, and they trully have graduated to the best place- seeing Christ face everyday. I rarely get to the movies, loved the story of Narnia and feel when you know something is biblically right put out by hollywood, you must support it. Prayers for a better 2006, dear.
Beth Thanks! cool what a big difference 3 months can make.
Keeping the faith- I love chocalate, so happy for you that nephew coming, thankshim for us for his service to his country.
Diane- busy, busy, busy- been there!
E.Z.- hey happy anniversary! Angie Happy Birthday! Dinnew sounds yummy one more time, it is amazing how quickly Kaylee has been catching on, she will soon no longer qualify for additional help from OT and PT as she has almost caught up to where she should be for her age group.
Figgy kitty- Crazy! That they be allowed to return at all! they should charged with bigger penalties, I just heard a case where a man in Vermont- abused a young girl for 4 years, repeatedly, and the judge refused to give him time, said he needed to be rehabilitated, not punished. He recieved something like 60 days whooptie do- He be out to do it again, well that poor child suffers the rest of her life. Our lovely judges that legislate from bench, should be stopped. He plead guilty too! I'd have to think about taking the law into my own hands at that point I think. So crazy.
Hilary-I agree with E.Z. tough job, prayers for your safety.
Gotta run, catch ya later.
