KAITIE -- we really do understand; I can't tell you how many jobs I applied for in my working life (hundreds & hundreds & hundreds, at the very least). That's the reason I shared with you what I did; I can recall when I was younger going away from interviews in tears (after I left their office or building, that is). They can be a terrible blow to your self-esteem. I wish the employers were more sensitive to how stressful these interviews and all those tests they make you do are. I really do feel for him and anyone applying for work these days, and we are still praying for him ...
^PRAYERS^ continue for you and yours ...

Thanks! No call back so he didn't get a second interview--again. I wish I could see a video of what he's doing during these interviews that's turning people off.
Kaitie-Try not to get too discouraged on your DH's behalf and also not let him become discouraged. My sister has been looking for a job for over 3 years (since getting her Master's degree) and she gets calls, goes for interviews, and never gets called back. There are sooooooooo many people out there looking for jobs and so few jobs available, it seems like a losing situation no matter how well you interview. At my DH's plant, they, by law, have to advertise any openings and show proof of interviewing, but, usually, they already know who's getting the job, because, I really HATE to say it, but IT IS who you know in this economy. If you can afford it, make sure your DH is out making contacts, while volunteering somewhere or even on the golf course (I know- I cringe when I say that because who has money to play golf these days). When my DH was wrongfully laid off last year (God and the union got his job back), I started applying and got NO calls, not even from stores. It's a hard world out there-I have too much education for many places to want to hire me (they're afraid I'll leave again after they train me), but I've been out of the professional workplace for too long for anyone to hire me in my degree profession. Prayers for you and your DH
KAITIE -- I agree with the others; encourage him to just keep on going becuz it may not be that he is doing anything wrong. They may be looking for a certain type of person or one with certain qualifications. Remember that they have so many people they can choose from that they can afford to be very, very fussy.
You know, I saw an Oprah show once where they sent out people for interviews and it was sad what happened -- the sexiest women got the job offers most often, even though others were attractive and had the same or more qualifications. Many of the male employers based their hiring on the instant physical attraction of the applicant. I recommend that people spiff themselves up as much as possible whether male or female but don't go overboard. You don't really want to be hired to be chased around a desk all day; I know women that has happened to, so you have to be careful how you present yourself.
So wait for the positions that are more serious and career-oriented. You know, unanswered prayers are sometimes the right answer; there are some jobs he may not really want. I always thanked GOD for helping me "dodge that bullet" so2speak on several occasions (that went for jobs and men) ...
RONNI -- I really agree with you about networking; and many, many teachers play golf: that is so true. Some schools allow you to volunteer and that is another way they can get to know you and your assets. You can join boards and parent associations to get better known as well.
UPDATE: My DAD and stepmother had to go back home early as the weather here was too cold and wet for them; their furnace wouldn't work and they didn't feel well. Now it is on to getting all the pre-op tests done as his surgery is booked for SEPTEMBER 27TH. We are praying ahead that all will go really well for him; he looked good and is very optimistic. PRZ GOD and thanks for your prayers for them.
UPDATE: We are getting some good help from the RED CROSS here to help DH and I each week. We met the supervisor this week and she will be coming again next week to arrange for more help for us. The respite care is too expensive for us; even supplemented, they want $36.00 each day and that would be almost $600.00; only the rich could afford this (anyone else has to forget it). Maybe it is for the best anyways.
UPDATE: The PGT Rep keeps asking me for more and more copies of various documents -- but won't say why. They don't seem to get that it costs us a lot of money for all these trips back and forth. I am doing the best I can and pray that the guardianship will be transferred to me asap. THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS; I am so trying not to be stressed out by the things they are doing. May the LORD grant me peace about all these matters in the meantime.
PRAIZE: I wanted to THANK & PRAISE GOD and you all for your prayers. We have had a problem going on here on and off since we returned home that was getting out of hand. Every time that I thought it was solved, it would come up again; so I prayed and prayed my head off asking GOD for a permanent solution which He gave me. DH was part of the problem and I had to talk to him to keep his part in this; and have to remind him daily becuz of his memory issues. Sometimes in life, we have to take drastic actions; and some things have to be sacrificed in order to see any lasting change. I am so grateful that I am finally seeing positive results and we have some peace again.
^PRAYERS^ continue for you and yours, as always ...

OUR FRIEND, MAGGIE -- is having problems with ongoing VERTIGO including dizziness, nausea, lack of balance, and weakness. She had to go to the hospital for it today. They don't seem to know what is causing it or what to do about it. That is the third person I know that has told me they had that problem; the other two are better now (and we just prayed for them and it went away). We ask that GOD will help alleviate these scary symptoms and the cause for MAGGIE too. THANKS WARRIORS ...
EDIT2ADD: was talking to my BIL and he told me that he suffered from vertigo in the past and it turned out that he had an infection in his inner ear that he wasn't aware of. He had to have surgery on it and has never had it again since. So we are praying the source of MAGGIE's vertigo will be found so they can help her permanently.

PRAYER REQUEST FOR CAROL -- who had breast cancer; they took the lumps out and believe they have it all, but she is starting radiation soon to make sure there are no rogue cancer cells left. Prayers for comfort and peace through these treatments for her would be appreciated. THANKS.
PRAIZE REPORT -- THANKS & PRAIZE for my Aunt's niece LAURIE, who also had tumors removed, is doing well at this time. She just finished her chemo (she had a different nausea drug to prevent her from gaining weight), but still has side effects like me (esp sore muscles and joints). It will take up to a year for these symptoms to leave our bodies. My numbness in my hands is getting much better, just have it occasionally now. Would you believe my wrists are really sore now; probably from the canes? It is a very cold & damp here right now; we are praying that when the dry cold comes all these achy symptoms will go away too.
ALSO, DH & have some kind of flu or cold bug that we would like to go away for good; it is breaking up in the chest for us (phlegm), but I think some prayers will help too. THANKS WARRIORS ...
THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS EVERYONE -- MAGGIE has been in and out and into the hospital having falling episodes, so they are keeping her in for awhile until they figure this out (they think she may have had a stroke, again). Still praying that the doctors will figure this out so she can get the correct treatments and feel well again.
We are praying daily for my DAD's (colon) tumor surgery that is booked for September 27 (this Friday). Praying for the surgeons for wisdom, knowledge, insight, and skilled hands as they take his tumor out; plus that DAD will heal up quickly and well, just like I did. PRAIZE GOD!!! Also LORD, grant him and Grace some special peace coming up to the surgery, so they wont worry. THANKS WARRIORS!
When I was doing my devotions last night before bed, I received some great reminders about remembering that GOD is MIGHTIER (Psalm 91) than any trouble we may have in our lives at this time. HE is mightier than any circumstance, any situation, any person, any problem, any health issue, any government, and any nation. I felt so blessed being reminded of this and will read that one more often. May HE give us wisdom and guidance as we trust HIM will all our problems each day. May HE fill us and our homes with HIS Peace, and HIS Love, and HIS Joy always!!!
PRAYERS continue for you and yours ...

I was wondering if people on this thread would mind saying a quick prayer for a friend of mine's wife (tricky to know where to put that last apostrophe!). She was having having dizzy spells and passing out for a couple of weeks, the doctors took some tests and instead of being told to go home and not work so hard, she is having a biopsy on a brain tumour on Friday. Please pray that it is benign and pray for her family (hubby & sons [20, 17, 15]).
Thank you all so very, very much.
DAD's COLON TUMOR SURGERY -- is scheduled for tomorrow, so we are praying for peace for him and Grace tonight as well as for the doctors for the surgery tomorrow. I know all our family will be on their toes until we hear that he is OK, just like they were for mine last December. THANKS for all your faithful prayers for my family; they are so needed, and so appreciated too!!!
