Went shopping BY MYSELF yesterday! Then came home and did 2 1-mile WATP's. I had to stop in the middle and watch West Wing. It's one of my favorite shows and last ninght was part 2 of a really good one. It's only got 2 or 3 more episodes before it's off the air permanently, too. Anyway, after it ended I went back and finished what I had started! I HAD to--it was my Day 100! I bought my stability ball while I was out, but I couldn't find ANY store with the You Can Do Abs DVD. So I went online and found that overstock.com had it for a GREAT price! WITH shipping, it was less than at Leslie's store WITHOUT shipping!! Hopefully it will be here yet this week, but I'm not sure with the holiday.

Have a great Monday! And keep walking!!!

Michele

Misti in Seattle 04-10-2006 08:07 AM

Wow, Michele, you did great! That's a lot of miles for one day!! And glad you were able to find your DVD! Our total is now at 664. We are right at Vermillon OH

I did some extra walking before in order to get to 2 miles! My exercise plan for today: aerobics and weights. Also, if I'm at the computer, I plan on getting up every hour and walking around for 10 minutes. That should get me plenty of steps!

Apple Blossom 04-10-2006 12:26 PM

4/9....3 miles.....21 total

I would like to help out with the "research"....I just thought little tidbits of info would be fun. This is what I found on Cleveland:
Moses Cleaveland was the founder. The spelling was changed in 1832 so that the title of the Cleaveland Gazette newspaper would fit on one line!
First city to be lit by electricity, 1879
First traffic light, 1914

Now don't you feel educated???!!!

I went for a beautiful hike with my family yesterday. I wish we could do that more often....

Apple Blossom 04-10-2006 12:53 PM

Okay...Vermilion Ohio, founded in 1837. On Lake Erie. I was watching some trivia show a while back and the guy didn't know the names of the Great Lakes!!!:nono: They are: Erie, Huron, Michigan, Superior and Ontario.
Anyway, Vermilion is the sister city to Paimpol, France. I don't know where in France that is though.
It hosts The Woollybear Festival every year in October. It is the largest one day festival in Ohio, celebrating the woollybear caterpillar which is supposed to predict the upcoming winter weather according to the size and color of it's brown & black bands.
Thats enough for now. I certainly can't do this everyday, but it is kind of fun!

Thanks Apple Blossom for the history lesson. Little tidbits about places that we go through help make them seem more real.

I went flying off the treadmill a few days ago.. :cp:

Please, please hold the applause until after the show. :D

That has never happened to me before but it was quite scary. I've bruised the muscle in my upper arm and have a "cute" burn from the belt on my butt/thigh area. I guess that is the closest I'll get to a tattoo.

Was I going too fast? Was I faint?
No, I was stupid.
My shorts were not hanging comfortably so I attempted to adjust them WHILE THE BELT WAS STILL MOVING!

My only consolation is that I was not at a gym.. man oh man that would have been a sight. :o

Apple Blossom 04-10-2006 01:12 PM

I hope you're OK, Jayde..don't be afraid to get back on!!!
Paimpol is on the north coast of France, 245 miles west from Paris...
OK, I'll go away now...

Ciarra 04-10-2006 01:36 PM

We have come 691 miles - about another 44 miles to Toledo! Tomorrow it is supposed to be partly cloudy and between 51 and 71 degrees. Great walking weather!

Toledo is the 4th largest city in Ohio and covers 83 square miles, with a population of 300,000. Note info is from the official city website.

Maumee Valley Walleye Weekend is April 16-17 but we will be out of town by then probably!

From other sites... Toledo was settled in 1794 with the name Fort Industry, after the Battle of Fallen Timbers. However, after the War of 1812 everyone fled and it was resettled in 1817 with a purchased syndicate and called Port Lawrence. Three years later syndicate failed and residents joined up with settlement called Vistula, and the joined settlement was called Toledo; several different legends as to why.

Had another good day! Getting back into the swing of things and upping my steps during teaching. Plus I've been trying to do at least 2 miles of fitness walking everyday.

I've already done them this morning because we have soccer and then son's music program--we'll hardly have time to eat supper in between!

Have a great Tuesday!

Hi guys you're doing awesome. I live just north of Toledo but am in Michigan. Did you know there was a battle as to which state would get claim of Toledo. Michigan "lost" and was rewarded with the upper penninsula. (Which to be honest is a much prettier place to visit.) Toledo is also the GLASS CITY. Home to Libby glass and currently hosting a Tiffany glass exhibit at the Toledo Museum of Art (one of the coolest things in the city!) Have a great journey as you continue!

Shopping, shopping, shopping! I did quite a bit of walking yesterday when I went shopping with Mom again. It's always funny going shopping with her. We were out for 4 hours yesterday and got: paper plates, plastic cups, orange juice, some reflective film for my windows, soap, and vitamins. 4 hours!

Ciarra 04-11-2006 11:15 AM

4 miles today.
Have a great day ya'll!

AnnieFannie 04-11-2006 11:19 AM

It's raining today so I don't think I'll get out for a walk...I'll try to at least put in 1 mile, but I usually walk in the morning and that ain't gonna happen today......
Thanks for the Toledo facts, Misti!

Brandy.. thanks so much for sharing! This was especially interesting to me as the Seattle area is also "big" into glass. We have Dale Chihuly who is fantastic! In fact when my niece comes to visit we are going to the Tacoma Art Glass Museum the day before we leave on the cruise!!

And great job everyone on the miles! Mine for today were 7.0965, and our total is 733.70... wow!!!!! We are about 30 miles from Wauseon OH... then another 20 to Montpelier!

AnnieFannie 04-12-2006 12:50 AM

Now when we get to Seattle, are you going to put us up for a night or two and show us the sights? Going to need to rest before heading back to Iowa.

Misti in Seattle 04-12-2006 01:25 AM

Yes, I am already arranging to rent a cyberhall. :) Plenty of gorgeous scenery here too, that's for sure!! And LOL are you sure about going back to Iowa...? There was talk of walking down the West Coast to California LOL. Pac Hwy 101 is gorgeous!!! :)

My walking is going great, but my food intake has been HORRIBLE this week! I gained 2 pounds according to my Tuesday weigh-in . I am SOOO angry with myself! I'll never see a 10 pound loss (Let alone MORE), if I don't get my willpower on the same page as my exercising ego!

Anyway....it feels like it should be Friday, which would be great, since there's no school. It's already been a LONG week for only 2 days!

Hope everyone has a nice day--I'll check back in later!

Michele

Misti in Seattle 04-12-2006 08:14 AM

Hang in there, Michele! We all have our weak moments but you are doing great and you will beat off those two pounds again soon along with more of the silly things!! :frypan:

Slow day yesterday. Mostly just did housework and yardwork. A friend of the family flew in last night, so I have a feeling that the next two weeks that he's here I won't be getting as many miles in (unless, of course, we go to Sea World next week!)

Apple Blossom 04-12-2006 12:35 PM

Well, I never got a walk in yesterday.:( And today its pouring down rain again....:rain:

Wauseon and Montpelier are both really small towns. Wauseon has a pop of about 7,000 and is the home of Barney Oldfield, a turn-of-the-century auto racer. (personally, I've never heard of him....)
Montpelier is even smaller at about 4,500...home of Dr. Paul Siple, developer of the wind chill factor. And yes, it is named after Montpelier, Vermont. One of the city founders hailed from there....

AnnieFannie 04-12-2006 01:39 PM

Thanks for the info Apple Blossom. I was just going to say that when I heard Montpelier, I was thinking Vermont. Seems like we would be going backwards then. I lived just a few miles away from there in a town called Barre (pronounced just like berry). Did you know that Montpelier, Vt is the only state capital not to have a McDonalds. Strange, but true. :D

Hey ladies, I'm new here so I just wanted to say hello. As you have guessed by my name I am trying to get in shape for my upcoming wedding. However, it is quite a ways off and I really want to change my lifestyle. My fiance is in great shape and enjoys hiking and backpacking. I want to be able to enjoy the things he enjoys without worrying if I'll be able to walk the next day. We both want to start our lives together as healthy as possible. I chose my avatar because I'm getting ready to graduate college and my schoolwork has always been my excuse for not working out. Well, the school got a new recreation building and the exercise equipment has book holders so now I have NO excuse! Bookworms need exercise too! Sorry for the long-winded introduction but I just wanted to say hello...
Keep on truckin' ladies!!

Misti in Seattle 04-13-2006 05:08 AM

Hi everybody... and welcome Gettingready!!! Glad to have your little feet walking along with us! :)

LOL I didn't realize I was giving such small towns in our location... guess my map searching could use some help LOL. I just can't find any map sites that give you the names of cities in between or exactly where I90 is!! They are frustrating!

Grand total for us = 760.14

We have about 45 miles before we hit Angola IN... yippee not sure where the state line is but we have probably crossed it by now!

I've done at least 2 fitness miles everyday since Saturday! It feels good to get into a routine. Now, if I could only make that routine include losing weight--lol. Today is my last day at work this week--YAY! It has been a LOOOOONG week for only 3 days complete! Poor hubby has to work tomorrow--the price of owning the company! I'm looking forward to hitting 200 miles this year either tonight or tomorrow for sure. It's great having so many little goals--then I'm always heading for one!

Have a great Thursday!

Michele

Sorry for the MIA

You guys are doing great! Sorry I've been MIA, we are just about ready to open the store where I work back up, and have been working as many hours as we can. We actually ended up pushing the opening to Sat instead of Fri, but I will be back on with the website later. Also, no walking... :o I've been a bad girl, but will be back on track tomorrow.

Dee
