Hello! I was wondering if it was too late to join your group? I've been working out alone for about a year & really need some group support to keep moving!! Do I just post my miles any time or should I do so once a week? Looking forward to walking across America with y'all!! (I'm in the south & have never even seen I-90, but would love to learn about the northern part of our country!! ;o)
Colleen ;) |
Hi Colleen. Welcome! We can use all the foot work we can get! Most of us post our distance every day in this form:
Date: Miles: Total so far: Some of us only count our workout miles; others combine their workout steps with steps recorded from using a pedometer during daily activities. Post whichever is most comfortable and helpful to you. So glad to have you. |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/17
Steps/miles for that time: 2.5 Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 35.5 |
I keep forgetting to add that I know quite a bit about Wisconsin and Minnesota, so I can supply some info when we get to those states. I use to live in La Crosse, WI (right on I90), and I drive on I90 through Minnesota quite a bit.
|
Well, today has been my highest walked day since I got my pedometer. And I'm not done yet! :D
|
Hi... sorry I am so slow in posting, yikes
My miles are 4/16 = 1.2745 4/17 = 6.2535 Our total = 906 so we are almost to Gary IN Welcome, Colleen! Glad to have another pair of feet!! :) Steph, thanks for the offer for some info when we get out your way!!! |

Date: 4/17
Miles: 1.5 Total so far: 9 miles Welcome Colleen, I just recently joined the walking here myself. Annie good luck with your interview. I didn't feel like walking today but forced myself out the door tonight. The I don't want to exercise feeling comes after a day of not the best food choices . I had to do something to turn this day around so made myself walk at least a bit tonight. Tomorrow will be better. |
Date: 4/17
Miles: 6.3 TOTAL: 147.3 Busy day yesterday. I tried out my new stability ball and You Can Do Abs workout after I did my 2 mile Abs workout. It was challenging, but kind of fun. I think I will enjoy using it a few times a week. Tonight is going to be a bugger. I have to pick my son up right at 4 because my sitter has a Bible study class at 5. Then I have to turn around and drop him off at soccer at 4:30, so I can be at a 4:40 dentist appointment. THEN, it's back to soccer to pick him up at 6, followed by a quick supper (hubby's in charge). Finally, I have a 7:00 meeting to organize for a trip to Spain with my students next summer. I will collapse when I get home! Fortunately, I already did a mile so I can keep my streak going and not feel guilty at 8 or 9 tonight! Have a great day, everyone! Welcome to the new walkers! Michele  |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/18
Steps/miles for that time: 5 Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 40.5 I'm so proud of myself that I walked to work today. It's a lot earlier than I like to wake up, but it's nice to have my exercising out of the way for the day. |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/17
Miles for that time: 4.18 miles!! Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 48.27 miles 11,525 steps, 3103 of which were aerobic. And you know what? I think I could do it again today if I had to. I feel very very good today. I ate a bunch of sodium-laden food yesterday, so I've retained around 3 pounds of water weight hahaha. Ah well, c'est la vie. |
Mornng:
5 miles. |
Date: 4/18
Miles: 1.4 Total so far: 59.5 More than 4 miles, Lydia! You must be in a hurry to get to Seattle! :) I jogged on the mill today.. yes jogged.. I could hardly believe that I could sustain jogging at 4.8 mph with only a couple of brisk 3.3 mph walks. Of course I kept the incline at a mere 1%. I wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes at my usual incline. hehe It felt good for a change. Granted it didn't burn the usual calories.. and the workout was short.. but I'll call today my "off" day. Happy walking all! |
I'm back and I've missed chatting with all of you!
Hi everyone-
I got back late Wednesday and popped in quickly on Thursday, but then was away unexpectedly for the Easter weekend. So now I will try my best to catch up quickly. Where are we? I'll have to look, thank goodness Misti is on top of things. BTW- Misti, love the Omron, and finally figured out the clip if you haven't yet. :) |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/18
Steps/miles for that time: 1.5 miles Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge:48.5 miles Got a bit of walking in, but not much. Keep up the walking gals. |
Hey everyone - I am new! Just started today! I just want to say quickly that I usually walk on a treadmill but some days I walk outside. I normally walk at least 3mph mean that it would take about 20 min to walk 1 mile (I don't have a step county thingy). So today I walked 45 min outsite witch would mean 2.25 miles. But I am going to round down to 2mile (does that sound okay to everyone?) - I also walked on my treadmill:
4/18 = 3.9 miles total = 3.9 miles Did I get everything okay? |
Hi everyone, and welcome Sotypical! Glad to have your little feetsies walking along with us! Yay Chris... glad you are back!!!
Mine for today: Date: 4/18 Miles: 6.37 Total miles: 130.41 BTW Lydia, that is great that you got so much! Nice going! Jayde, great about the jogging! |
Date: 4/18
Miles: 5.8 TOTAL: 153.1 We had a great meeting last night to organize for our Spain trip! 19 kids were present and/or represented by at least 1 parent! We know of 2 who couldn't be there, so 21 with strong interest. We are hoping for at least 12 who actually apply (the teachers get free trips if that happens). With all the additional responsibilities of a teacher on these trips, I think it's only fair! If we get more, we may have to find a third teacher to travel with us--what a problem to have! Walking was great--I was so busy with the final details that I topped 10000 easily! Food was pretty good, though hubby made a very cheesy casserole for supper. I'm just glad he made supper (lol)! Hoping for another big day--I have a zillion papers to grade and phone calls to make. Everything pretty much got put on the back burner while we prepared for this meeting! Happy Wednesday! Michele  |
Hi Michele
The trip sounds exciting! Hope you get the trip free! |
Lydia - I hear you about the sodium gain. Me too - I'm up four! Ack!
Date: 4/17 Miles: 1.4 Date: 4/18 Miles: 1.2 Total so far: 41.2 Sigh... I really need to get back up on my feet more again... -Lala |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/18
Miles for that time: 1.21 miles Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 49.48 miles I will definitely be reaching the 50-mile mark today. My exercise plan is an hour of walk-walk-walking! |
A few days ago....1 mile, total walked 27.5
The day after.......1/2 mile, total 28 I can't really walk this week because the kids are home from school. If I had a pedometer I'd probably be able to add up alot, since we are visiting museums and parks and stuff. I don't really count that as exercise anyway. It's not aerobic at all. I will however, count 20 minutes of step aerobics as 1 mile, hopefully I can add a bit that way. Hello to everyone!! |
Hello!! This is my first day to exercise adding up miles....I've been doing minutes all year, but I think I'll enjoy seeing how FAR I'm going better!!
Date: 4/19 Miles: 2 Total so far: 2 Have a great day!! Colleen |

Miles: 2.1 Total so far: 61.6 Hi Chris, and welcome back!!!!! Welcome, Sotypical. Nice to have you with us. Also nice to meet a fellow miller. Another day jogging on the mill. This time with no incline (gotta cut something!! hehe), and I let the mill change the intervals from 2.6 to 4.6 mph. That and my yoga class today has me on an exercise high!!! |
Today is my break day - so no walking today! But you will see me back tomorrow :)
|
Date: 4/19
Miles: 8 Total miles: 138 |
I seem to be stuck on 1.5 miles, but it's more walking that I have down in the last year so I'll take it. I am really going to strive to get atleast 2 miles in tomorrow. Keep up the walking ladies.
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/19 Steps/miles for that time: 1.5 miles Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 50 miles |
That's great Annie! Remember it is not about how FAR we get but that we are hanging in there and keeping going!!! I am proud of you for doing so much walking!! :jig:
And Apple...up to you but a lot of us (self included) count ALL steps during the day. I take my pedometer off when I get home around 5 because I like to run around the house in a nightshirt LOL. But I put it on when I get ready to leave for work and don't take it off until I get home! I keep track personally of my aerobic steps but the ones I post here are ALL of them!!! |
Thanks Misti. I know it doesn't matter how far I go. The best part is atleast I am being consistent. I just know I have more in me. I need to find a time when I can get out and walk alone. I love walking with my husband and daughter, but feel bad because I want to just start walking fast and her little legs just can't keep up with me. I'm going to have to sit down and formulate a plan so I can get in some more miles. I am wanting to be walking 5 miles a day by the end of spring.
|
OH and Chris... yah I finally figured out the clip on the Omron LOL. They definitely need some better directions on that thing! :) Now that I have become convinced the only option is to keep it in my pocket I am really loving the thing! Just no way I could wear it on my waistband as I am up and down a lot and the thing fell off my pants a zillion times a day and also was SO big in the case it HURT! But I have adjusted -- don't know what I will do when I don't HAVE a pocket LOL. But it is great for a ped and I love being able to measure my aerobic steps also.

Date: 4/19
Miles: 1.5 Total so far: 10.5 miles |
Date: 4/19
Miles: 4.8 TOTAL: 157.9 Slow day yesterday. I have lots of papers to grade, so I'm sitting more. But I'm forcing myself to get up and take a walk or run an errand every now and then to increase steps. The weather has turned nice (for Iowa in April), but I haven't had the opportunity to walk outside yet. Hoping to go walk on our HS track this afternoon with a colleague. Have a great Thursday! Michele  |
Good morning-
Good morning everyone, and a big welcome to the newcomers. We are really cruising  Give yourselves a big pat on the back!
I am off to work now, but I'll log in tonight and get the new tally for miles and our new location. We'll be in Seattle in no time, Misti what shall I bring to the cyberparty? :) |
Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/19
Miles for that time: 1.01 miles Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 50.49 miles Grr. Yesterday was frusterating. I just did NOT feel like exercising! Luckily, I've already gotten 20 minutes of walking out of the way so far today. |
phew just got off my treadmill! it was good one today!
4/10 - 4 miles total = 7.9 miles |
Date: 4/20
Miles: 2.2 Total so far: 63.8 Again jogging on the treadmill at 4.6 with short breaks in between. I put the incline up to 1%.. still it was maybe too much for me at that speed. My legs have gotten sore these past few days. I thought it was the yoga, but now I think it is the jogging. But though I am sore. It feels great. I know that I am not burning up as many calories as when I walked for a longer time at a higher incline.. but the jogging is fun and I need a change in routine for now.. keep it fun.. that is what is important. Annie said it best: Quote:
Sotypical, I like your new avatar. |
Good evening everyone. I do have to say. I am being very consistent. I did another 1.5 today, but I know tomorrow I am going to have more because I have some errands that I want to run and I will be doing it all on foot.
1) Because we don't have a car as of yet. 2) I don't live that far from the square so it seems a bit pointless to drive even if I did have a car. So I know I am going to have more. Plus over the weekend we are going to take Emily to one of the little parks to play. I am not sure how far it is from the house, but I am guessing that it is atleast a mile. So there and back will be 2 miles. And it is suppose to be very nice this weekend.:sunny: The plus side is that I am doing my walking everyday and each step counts and puts us just a little closer to Seattle. I can't wait to have that cyberparty.:hat: :woo: Days that the steps or miles were logged: 4/20 Steps/miles for that time: 1.5 miles Total number of steps/miles, to date in the challenge: 51.5 miles |
Glad everyone is doing so well! Wow you are really cranking!!!
I didn't get my noontime walk in today as we had a birthday lunch so I am a little lower than usual. Wow, missed the walk too!!! Date: 4/20 Miles: 3.69 Miles to date: 142 |
