Hello everyone!

First... Chris, yes I volunteer to keep track of the miles while you are away! I think I will start keeping a backup copy just for fun and that way during the times you can't be here I will have the info. Okay??? And the pedometer might be fine in a pocket but the pants I wear to work don't have deep pockets; also I like to be able to look at it just by detaching it and holding it up without undoing the backup clip and I don't think I could do that in my pocket. It sure is a nice ped though!!!

Michele... LOL a million miles indeed! Wow glad we are on your team; we will be all over the world soon! :)

Debbie, glad to see another rain lover! :) Most of the time we don't have a lot of wind here, and hardly ever lightning and stuff, so it is a lot safer to be out in it than in most places.

Dee, yes yes yes on the website! That would be wonderful. 3FC would probably let us link to that too I would think/hope!! ;)

Jayde, good job on the inclines... oh I am horrid at those LOL -- OTOH I walk up our Seattle hills!!

Annie, glad we are more entertaining than ole Spongebob LOL. Thanks, I think. :)

All the rest of the team (wow, need to put together a name list again; we are growing LOL). Keep up the good work. You are all a wonderful team!!

Oh I forgot LOL

Misti! 12,000 steps!!!! Two days in a row you seem to be so energetic.

You must be in a big hurry to get home! :D

Misti in Seattle 04-06-2006 11:50 PM

Hi Jayde

I am so thrilled to have my energy back after several years of being a slug! PTL I got an "all clear" on my thyroid levels so no more tests for a year, yay! And the way I do it is that I walk on both my breaks and most all of my lunch hour at work! And LOL since I got the Omron ped and it gives aerobic steps I am trying to get all of them I can so am really moving my butt LOL.

Michele L 04-07-2006 07:32 AM

WAY TO GO, MISTI!!! Keep up that pace--your body will thank you for it!

I've been over 10000 steps all but 1 day this month! I'm in a challenge on another forum that is pushing us to do 11905 daily in order to reach a HALF MILLION personal steps in 6 weeks. This is the end of week 3 and I'm a bit behind for the 3 weeks, but I'm AHEAD for this week! I'm promising myself to make up the 6000 steps I'm behind overall SOON! It's silly, but these little challenges have helped me stay motivated! Monday will be 100 days in a row of cardio--all due to another challenge I joined. Now, there's almost NOTHING that would keep me from exercising! Did I really say that?!?!

Have a great Friday!!

Michele

NavyWifeDee 04-07-2006 07:57 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, after taking the day off yesterday, it feels much better to have walked this morning. And I will be walking home from work this evening, too. So I will get my four miles in today. I think I'm going to stop taking any days off unless my heel makes me, cuz I always feel worse after I do. I'll work on the website this weekend and see what I can get going. Right now I'm off to eat some breakfast and clean some house. We are having a yard sale this weekend, and I've got to sort about a million boxes of books to see what can go. Have a great day all!

Misti- wow... you're so energetic! Great job!

Michele - I know what you mean about challenges, they really make me stay motivated. I've been slacking a bit lately, so I may have to join another specific one for exercising soon. Right now I'm just trying to walk as much as I can and lose 10lbs by the 29th.

Dee

Misti in Seattle 04-07-2006 08:03 AM

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy that's great, Michele! I am wondering how fast I can get to one million steps too! Since I started counting I am at 475,766!!! I will reach the halfway point this weekend!

The challenges really help me, too, Michelle! LOL I am in Beat the Bulge game and have had to start measuring because we get points for inches lost. I am working my butt off (literally LOL) and still not in first place! Wow that bunch is hard to keep up with! Game 2 is over this weekend and we start Game 3; and I am getting in better shape all the time LOL. But the neat part is we are ALL winners... or LOSERS depending on how you look at it!! \o/

Dee, I know what you mean about days off! I am getting to where I don't WANT them LOL! And can't wait to see the website!!

I reeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllly want that 25th pound to go this morning! It has been hanging on for dear life for over a week now! Yesterday it looked like it was struggling and almost ready to let go... but it just keeps on clinging! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh GO AWAY!!!

I am going to follow Lumi's idea and make myself a nice certificate for my wall for the 25 pounds... LOL it would be good if I could make it and put it up tomorrow!!!

I got in a little yoga, a trampoline warm-up and my regular mill workout. So I feel great.. During the workout I even stated running 3 times at 5.4 mph at a 7% incline.. ok.. not for long but it felt great. After the first two times I was determined to get 3 miles in under 1 hour. And I did.. barely.. just 11 seconds to spare. :carrot:

Misti in Seattle 04-07-2006 07:51 PM

Good job, Lydia and Jayde! Lydia, neat that you got to go walking with your Mom!! Spend time with her while you can!!

Almost 600 miles, wow wee!

Give yourselves a pat on the back, we have collectively walked 594.67 miles (with my 8 from yesterday and today), and we'll be at 600 miles in no time. It's 623 miles to Cleveland, OH so we are almost there.

Misti, way to go with logging those miles and getting rid of that 25th pound, all your hard work is paying off, and thanks so much for keeping the tally and location while I am away.

Michele, yes I meant steps, but still very impressive, LOL.

I am going to walk my butt off (if only...) while I am on vacation, I can't wait to log in Wednesday and report back.

Chat with you soon!

NavyWifeDee 04-07-2006 10:18 PM

Bad Dee!

Well... I was bad and didn't walk home from work today. But at least I did my two miles this morning! You guys are all doing great! Good job on that 25th lb Misti! I'm trying to make it to 20lbs lost, but I keep going up and down a bit more drastically than I want. Maybe I can make it this week. Hope everyone had a great day!

Had an OK day, considering all the testing. Exercising got put off til later in the evening because hubby decided we'd go out for supper. We went to the local Chinese place, which I love, but I don't usually make the best choices. I had sesame chicken with steamed rice. But the kicker was 2 egg rolls. I love them and don't often get them because I KNOW how bad they must be for me. However, I didn't eat much of my chicken, so I didn't overindulge and will have leftovers for at least 2 meals. It's a new day.....I can't dwell on the past.

Congrats, Misti, on the 25 pounds! I'd be thrilled with 10! I keep gaining and losing the same 1-2 pounds and it keeps me from losing my 10th. Believe me, you'll know it when I finally lose 10 pounds!!

Everyone will be gone from 9-12 this morning, so I'm planning on either hitting the elliptical at the middle school or doing a longer 4-5 mile WATP. Haven't decided which yet.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday! It's finally looking like we might have some sunshine instead of clouds and rain. Of course, that means lawn-mowing will soon begin again.

Been busy the last couple of days, I'll try to start posting everyday.
Thursday was 2 miles
Friday was 4
Today is a rest day (cause it's cold)

Misti in Seattle 04-08-2006 10:11 AM

Good morning, everyone! We are now over 600 miles wow. I am exhausted this morning so this may be a slow day for me, even though Saturday is usually my "big day" for walking! Hope you all have a great weekend.

AnnieFannie 04-08-2006 01:12 PM

Didn't get much done yesterday. I was pretty much a floor potato. I can't say couch potato because I don't have one. Haven't had a chance to move in any furniture. My parents are giving us 2 lazyboys and a couch(if it will fit) and they are getting new furniture. I will be happy to have something to sit on besides the floor. Better yet a computer desk would be nice. I have to use it on the floor til I can get one. I don't need anything fancy just something that won't break and I can use for awhile. Well, looks like it's going to be nice today. Still a little cool out but the sun is shining and I am hoping to get in a nice walk. Take care.

LOL Annie glad you got your computer up and running anyway! When I moved a few years ago I had it rigged up with the monitor on a cardboard box. <GGG>

I am cleaning house today and giving that a priority so probably won't log many steps. I did finally take the advice of others and give up and put this pedometer in my pocket LOL. There is no way it will stay hooked to my shorts with all the up and down, etc. But it is going to be okay there. It IS by FAR the best ped I have ever had!!! And doesn't feel nearly as awkward without the case which hooks it to my pants. I'll be able to use it that way when I am just walking but when sitting and standing a lot it falls off.

My allergies were horrid this morning too... I think I may have forgotten to take my meds yesterday. Took it this morning and it does seem to be kicking in again a bit!!!

We are "unofficially" at 612 miles... so about 10 miles out of Cleveland! We should make it today or tomorrow, depending on whether some of you are more ambitious today than I am LOL

I feel like I may have missed something, but oh well. I just don't remember if I walked on Thursday or not...
I was expecting a little more info about our geography on this journey. Am I missing something there too? I'll try to look a few things up later and post. Around Cleveland eh?

Misti in Seattle 04-08-2006 07:32 PM

Good job, everyone.

Apple I think problem with the geography is no one has the time to research it all so at least from my perspective, if we are going to do it, it needs to be a joint project. I agree it is fun, and perhaps when Dee gets the website up we will feel more connected!

NavyWifeDee 04-08-2006 07:56 PM

website!

I'm having a yard sale tomorrow, but am off from work, so hubby and I will sit down and see what we can do about getting some info for everyone up and running. Hope everyone is having a good day, I've been so busy I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Take care, and see everyone in Cleveland, lol.

Okay Ladies!

Allright ladies, I have started the website. I am having to go back through the posts to see what interesting places we have been. If anyone has anything to add about where we have been, please pm me a message about it. Also, if you have a specific place in any town we are passing through that you would like to see a satellite picture of on the website, let me know. Some towns I can actually show individual houses, etc, if you know exactly which house it is on the street (ie. it is the second house on the left side when coming up the street from the south.. lol.. pretty specific). Hope to have it up tomorrow, or if I get really ambitious, later tonight.

The rain has quit and our back yard was a lake for a while. The warm weather finally dried the back yard up. Everything greened up almost overnight with all that rain. My lilac bushes are budding. YAY

Blyn- DH just told me that his cousin is a doctor at one of the hospitals there in Souix Falls.

Misti- :cp: WOOHOO on the 25 lbs. I am shooting for 30 lbs. by Monday.

Dee- That is so awesome of you to get a website going for our trip, and Chris for officially keeping up with our miles.

Annie- On the floor potato. Hopefully you will get some real furniture soon.

Misti in Seattle 04-08-2006 11:10 PM

Yay team! We have come 629 miles which puts us right in Cleveland!!! Perhaps we can all rest there for the night and get a good fresh start out of town in the morning LOL.

I didn't do any walking today other than out running around, housecleaning etc so did pretty well considering! Hated to give up my Saturday walking but just had soooo much that needed to get done!

BTW I am much happier with my Omron since I gave up and started wearing it in my pocket. :)

I had an AWESOME day yesterday! It started when I decided to jump on the treadmill for a few minutes before I had to take my daughter to her softball camp. I only did 10 minutes, but it was .58 mile. When I got back, I had promised myself a longer workout since I hadn't done anything over 2 miles since last Saturday. I chose the 3 mile abs WATP. Later in the afternoon, I still had energy and motivation, so I decided I'd do 1 more mile. I chose the 1 mile abs workout. When I finished that one, I STILL wanted more, so I did the Power Mile with 3 pound weights. When I finished, I did the 1 mile Express with the stretchie. I probably could have done even more, but it was getting close to supper and I HAD to shower (lol). It was probably a good thing I did all this because we ended up getting ice cream from the local place. I ate WAAAAY more than I should have, but it was good and I don't do it often.

Today, the Easter Bunny has to go shopping, so I'll get lots of steps in. Sometime, though, I will do at least a mile or two--today is Day 100! Hubby agreed that I can buy myself a reward and I decided to get a stability ball and video to work on my middle. I've had 2 C-sections and need to do SOMETHING to minimize this bulge. When I've lost 20 pounds, I will buy some new clothes.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

I had an idea about getting the info on the places we are going. There are 15 states we are either going through or going to be very near on our trip. I know that we had agreed to do a little info on the areas we lived in as we went through, but for those states where nobody lives if someone could volunteer to do some research on the state, then we could forward the info to Dee to put on the website, that way she wouldn't have to be doing all the work; or it could be posted on here and maybe added to the website. I live in Montana so I will definitely take care of that, plus I can do Wyoming as I am pretty familiar with that area too. I would do another state too if the interest is low. What do you guys think??

Michele L 04-09-2006 07:44 PM

I'll be honest. I'm not sure I can find the time to actually DO research. I teach full-time and have TONS of papers to grade if I have spare time. I can tell you things about Iowa, if we go through it, but I just can't commit to any more.

Sorry!

Evening all. I hope we aren't going through Cleveland during rush hour. That's not a pretty picture. When we moved from Vermont to Iowa we took I-90 til we hit I-80, and rush hour is not fun. Anyways, I didn't get to post my miles yesterday because I was a bit upset. To make a long story short, my ex won't let me see my 2 oldest children or let them come over to my parents since I had been living there. We went to visit and get a couple of lazy boys and the kids called my niece and said they could come over as long as we aren't there. He was going to let them come over, but not go to the show. And then he decided they couldn't come over, but could go to the show 5 minutes before it was to start. Needless to say my niece made me feel badly by saying the kids wished I wasn't there because they wanted to come over. Not that they don't want to see me. More so they can get away from their father. Nonetheless, I feel like moving back sometimes was a mistake and I'm never going to get to see my kids. But I'm not going to give up. I just have to seek some legal help somehow. I am just going to try to put my anger towards the ex to exercising and losing weight. Anyways here are my miles for yesterday and today and sorry for venting.
