Had a gorgeous walk on a nearby track with a colleague yesterday afternoon! It was so nice to get out with a friend and walk and talk! It was bright and sunny and about 70 degrees and I LOVED it! Now it's supposed to rain much of the weekend, so it's back to inside walking. I agree with you, Misti, that when it gets too hot I don't like to walk outside. But it has to be hotter than 70 before I'm uncomfortable. To each her own right?!?

Going to TRY to get 30000 steps done between today and tomorrow. Another challenge I'm involved with has a goal of a HALF MILLION steps in 6 weeks and it ends after Saturday's steps. I was doing pretty well, but my meeting Monday and conferences Wed slowed me down and now I'm behind. I REALLY want to meet this goal, so I have to kick it up a notch (again!).

Hope everyone has a nice Friday!

Didn't have a very good day yesterday, today's shaping up to be just as crummy. I'll try to get some walking in, though.

kristine724 04-28-2006 01:15 PM

I didn't walk last night. My allergies are kicking my butt! I was exhausted yesterday, so I just plopped myself on the couch and watch our new NetFlix movie that came in the mail.

Today is a new day and I plan on walking to night with my husband.

IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!:carrot:

BlynC 04-28-2006 02:13 PM

Good Afternoon! Thank goodness it is Friday!...the weather here is supposed to be rainy all weekend! I will have to walk on the mill I hate that! I love the rain!...and the cool...no hot for me. Grew up (26 years) in AZ. Way to hot!!. Have a great weekend everybody!... Blyn:D

Blyn I am with you... I love the rain too and do NOT like the sun and heat. Except I don't get it... if you like the rain why do you have to walk on the mill? Do you live in an area with lightning and stuff? We hardly ever have that so it is safe to go out in the rain.

Kristine I can relate about the allergies... mine have been bad too and had to go on the prescription meds.

Michele, we are a little wimpy here in Seattle about the heat. LOL it doesn't get that hot here so other people laugh at us when we think it is "hot" But I have lived in those super hot places, thanks, and have NO desire to go back LOL

Wonder where Chris is??? Haven't seen her here lately.

Well, I was at work yesterday when I wasn't supposed to be. Several weeks ago, I requested a personal day (we only get 2 a school year). The sub was lined up and with my late meeting on Monday and conferences on Wednesday, I was READY for a day off by myself! On Wed morning, the secretary called me a told me that my sub's wife had had their baby and he was taking the week off. She tried to find another sub, but there were none to be had. So, I had to work and choose a different day off. I was mad (and still kind of am!)! Hubby (sort of) helped by offering to take the family to dinner at a restaurant we have heard good things about but have never been to. I say sort of, because I didn't make the best choices, but I enjoyed the time spent as a family and the food WAS good.

Today is a new day and we have our son's final soccer game at 10am. Then the rest of the day is ours with NO COMMITMENTS! I don't know what we'll do, since it's raining off and on, but we'll think of something!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

We are about 150 miles from Sioux Falls, SD!

Was too busy yesterday to get much walking in, but today it's beautiful outside. I'm definitely going for a walk. I'm in a SUPER good mood this morning. Last night, my boyfriend let me know that he'd purchased his tickets to come visit me! He'll be coming next friday :D

Misti in Seattle 04-29-2006 10:44 AM

Today is the "Walk for Life" for our local Pregnancy Resource Center. I do it every year but might skip out this time because I need to get things in order for when my niece comes to go on our cruise. But it is important and helps women in tough situations... and will help me get in my walking so I am going!!

iowasteph2 04-29-2006 11:22 AM

I didn't do much yesterday. I have one heck of a cold, plus we've had rotten weather. I won't use that excuse today though...I'm going to get moving regardless!!!

Can we say the weather sucks? I'm going to chase it away. :rollpin: and try to get the :sunny: back. I'm not sure what I am going to do about walking today or the whole weekend for that matter. It's suppose to rain all weekend plus Monday. Yuck. I don't have a treadmill to walk on and don't have any workout videos. So I am kinda wondering what I'll do. Here are my miles from yesterday. I did manage just a few even though it started to rain on us some while we were out.

This weather definitely does suck--big time!!! I made myself go out in it today. I kept myself laughing (to myself) and motivating myself, but thinking that I was a WARRIOR!! I kept reminding myself that I was out there, and no one else was, and I am becoming more and more healthy!!

I need to grab the DH's umbrella and just make myself go out in it even just for a mile. Atleast there isn't any severe Thunderstorms for today. Plus I haven't seen any lightening so I should be pretty safe out there. Unless I encounter a big water puddle. Hopefully, I don't get splashed by a car.

Well, we will see what the day brings. Need to get shopping for my daughter's birthday. She's turning 4 on Monday and I still need to get her a card. I got her a present on Ebay, but it isn't going to get here until after her birthday. Would you believe it is coming from Washington State. Should have it sent to you Misti and I'll pick it up. Anyways, got her a brand new pair of tennis shoes(Vans). Got them for only $7.50 before shipping but that is a pretty good deal on a new pair of shoes. Ok.. gotta go.

Hi all..

I am back from my trip and about to get in a late night jog on the mill. Just popping in. Wow do I have a bit of catching up to do.

Where is Chris?

And hasn't it been a looooooooooooooooooong time since Dee has posted?

DEEEEEEEEE where are you? If you are busy with the store we hope everything is fine and you are still moving. Pop in and do a drive by post at least.

Jayde

Misti in Seattle 04-29-2006 09:46 PM

You are right... Dee hasn't been around either!! Hope both she and Chris are okay!

LOL Annie you could have saved the postage as I could have just got it and given it to you on the walk. <G>

BTW another newbie signed up today... she should be here soon!

Congrats Misti!!!! You must be walking on air now.. :)

It was a good thing I took my jump rope with me on our trip. The gym at the hotel was a sorry little place.. wall to wall equipment with no room to move. The only piece of equipment being used was the treadmill. I never saw anyone use anything else.

I jumped rope in the corridor outside the gym at night and just outside the exit during the day. When I was finally able to get my turn on the mill, I was SO disappointed. The machine was so horrible I couldn't walk but a few minutes. I now really realize how nice my machine is that honey bought for us. I got a lot of jumping in, twice a day at least. Then got on the mill when we arrived home.

Oh, and I stayed with my eating plan yet still enjoyed every bit of the trip. Sometimes it just required a little planning and a little defensive eating.

Glad to be home.

Misti in Seattle 04-29-2006 11:14 PM

Good for you, Jayde! So glad you did so well and great about the jump rope!!! I would love to get one but I am on third floor LOL.

yah it was pretty neat all right to hear those women cheering for me as coming in first. Of course it was not a race but just a walk and all in fun but still... yay!

Keya 04-30-2006 04:33 AM

There is rain here this weekend too. I don't normally let a bit of rain stop me. It feels nice when it falls on my heated body and keeps me cooler. Today it came down in buckets but it did stop for a while and I went walking in the refreshed air.

Go Misti Go

Good thing you took your jump rope Jayde.

Well, no commitments meant little exercise. I spent much of the day at the computer helping research our vacation to Yellowstone this summer. Therefore, it was almost 7pm before I even popped a tape in (and then only because of my streak). To make matters worse, we went and got ice cream afterwards. Today it's still rainy and windy, so I will walk inside again. I also will not procrastinate like I did yesterday! My daughter has her dance pictures right at suppertime tonight and then a couple of my favorite shows are on TV (West Wing and Gray's Anatomy). So I will get my walking done much earlier today!

Have a nice Sunday!

Misti - I'm from the UK and would love to join in, I walk aprox 6 miles per day Mon-Fri to work and back (no buses) and about 16 miles over the weekend. I've been keeping a Spreadsheet of my miles and since I started my weigh loss journey I've currently walked 730 miles since the 11th January.

Another so-so day yesterday. I ALMOST hit 10000 steps, and I SHOULD have. But I got busy doing things around the house that had me sitting or standing still and I just didn't walk. I DID do a 2 mile WATP, though.

May is a new month and I'm in a challenge on another board that I've committed to 65 miles in May. I have to get back to a minimum of 2 miles most days and a few 3+ mile days. That will also increase the chances of my hitting 10000 steps+ for this challenge! I've found that I almost always hit 10000 when I've done 2 fitness miles, but I don't usually if I've only done 1. And the difference is only about 15 minutes! I CAN DO THIS!!!

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Hey, team, you are doing great! I am concerned about Chris, as she has not been here in quite a while!

And Keya, you are soooooo right about the rain... feels SO nice and cools you down, huh? Jayde, you don't know what you are missing LOL.

Michele, 3.2 miles is not exactly slacking LOL.

Sorry!

So... I'm BAAAAAAACK. Sorry I was MIA for awhile, especially since I was supposed to be getting a website up and running, but our internet went out, and it has taken Comcast this long to figure out the problem.. Wow, you guys have been booking. I guess total you can add me in for about 10 miles, I haven't been as productive as I'd like since I started working, but tomorrow is my reboot day, to get my butt back in gear. I just found out that my 10 year class reunion is going to be in October, so I have that much time to kick off some weight and get down to some semblance of what I used to look like or better. Hope everyone is doing well, and Misti.. way to go on that NSV!! YAY!! Can't wait to get back hopping on here.

I don't have access to the "net" at home, so I'll have to post my weekend walking on Mondays. I haven't weighed myself for the month yet, but the capri pants I wore to work on Sat. sure did fit looser around the waist and hips. I'm pushing to .50 miles each day this week and see how it goes.

Happy Monday everyone!!!

Well if we are nearing Sioux Falls, Sd then we are close to ME! Actually I live in Dell Rapids which is 13 miles north of Sioux Falls. Sioux falls is 150 years old this year ..Here's a link with information. http://www.siouxfalls.org/Planning/h...entennial.aspx

Dell Rapids is rich in history dating back to 1871. We have a huge quarry in our town. Rose Quartzite is the rock crushed and shipped to most of the Midwest states. On a scale of 1- 10 [diamond], this rock is 7.5. Some of the hardest in the world. And because of it's beautiful rose color, is shipped all over the world.Another unique feature of this mine, it has its own railway! We have Quarry Days every June on the last weekend. You can take a railcar down into the mine. We are a bit early for Quarry Days..

It really is pretty here! I have lived here for about 15 years. We love it!..

No miles to report this weekend. It was raining and cold and I just hunkered in. Have a Great May Day! Blyn
