Default Mothers Day

Is it mothers day today in other parts of the world or is it just here in UK and Ireland? Anyway I have been eating far too much today and it is not even 2 o'clock yet So I have come to 3FC for some words of encouragement to stop me before I make a complete pig of myself
Could everyone tell a little about themselves and where you are from so I can get a mental picture in my head?
I am 50 years old (I hate admiting it) I am married with three kids aged 21, 19 and 16. I look after my mother , who lives with us. She will be 90 this year.
I weigh about 168 pounds and I am 5' 6". I have blonde hair (out of a bottle) God only knows what colour I really am now but I used to be light brown and I have probably got quite a lot of grey by now but I like being blonde and I figure that I should have been blonde as I have fair skin and two of my brothers were fair.
I like walking and do at least two miles every day and I go linedancing twice a week and once I get my Tae Bo tapes I hope to be doing that also. So I try to keep myself quite fit but I cannot seem to shift any pounds and I seem to store most of my extra weight around my waist and tummy. My problem is that I have a sweet tooth and have to have some sort of chocolate biscuit every day
Talk to you all later.
Anne

Hi mooz!
Mother's Day in the US of A is in May. The second sunday, I think.
I am 42 years old. I am originally from Indiana, but my hubby of 21 years is in the Air Force so we are in Wyoming until we retire in 5 years and move back home. I have two sons, 11 and 13.
I too have out of the bottle hair, red. LOL!! Recently I have been letting it grow though, and its kind of a salt and pepper. I have been coloring it since 1993 and just got tired of doing that once a month.
I was doing tae bo, but I could not get into the advanced workout, so I went back to my step aerobics. I alternate Jane Fonda with a Reebok step video. I work out every day. And I am following the weight watcher points plan.
I get additional exercise from yelling at 1 day and kicking her in her backside. She knows I luv her though ;-)
Seriously, 1 day, how's things? I see you have been busy at work. I am going to have a ton of OT coming up. We have a new computer system, and have to enter all of our Patient info into it.
Plus we are moving our offices the first week of April. I am having waaay too much fun!
Gotta get ready for work, ladies!
Everyone have a great day!

Anne, sorry that I didn't get on line yesterday, I hope you got through the day without hurting yourself TOO much on the chocolate. And I hope you had a great Mother's Day. Mother's Day in the US is May 12th this year.

I tried my first shot at Yoga Saturday. I really liked it and even though I didn't get my heart rate up it felt so good to stretch all those sleeping muscles. Of course I didn't come any where close to making my hands touch the floor. I would like to do it daily but the tape is an hour long and I don't know If I can work it in, in addition to my other exercises.

Did the Basic TaeBo this AM and have already downed 33 oz of water. I'm leaving work after I finish payroll, I have to take my car in for some warranty work. Everyone have a great day!

Mornin' ladies! Here I am for my morning motivation.

Well, here's a little about me.... I'm 29 years old, live in a dinky town called Middleton Idaho, my husband is currently in Fort Knox KY going through basic training, and I have a six year old son, and my daughter will be three on the 21st of this month. I am 5'5" tall, and guess what??? My hair is out-of-the-bottle blonde too!! Getting a bit brown around the roots again though. I was VERY active when I was younger and managed to keep my weight down. Then I got married, and went through 4 pregnancies. I lost the first two (1 at 3mos and one a 4mos) and I got depressed and put on about 40 pounds over those 3 years. Then with each of my kids i put on even more and never lost it. I knew I was fat, but didn't realise HOW fat until last February when my friend (who has gotten fat right along with me) got suddenly inspired to diet and in turn she inspired me. I bought a scale, stepped on it, and was HORRIFIED !! 246 pounds!! That was almost my full term pregnancy weight with my daughter. I ran to the closet. I'd worn nothing but stretchy cotton pants so I guess I didn't notice how much I was packing on. Surely I could fit back into my 22 jeans. But no! I couldn't get them on past my hips. THAT was the day I woke up and said NO MORE!! I am now 192, and happy to say I've given the 22's away, but I fell off the wagon for several months and am back on track now. OOPS! I guess that was a LOT about myself .
ANYHOO, I'm going to try my new Reebok dance video today. I'll let ya know how it goes!!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement and for telling me a little about yourselves.
Did you notice that IndyLauri and Semo submitted their replies at exactly the same time - 2.44 pm. Just another little piece of useless information
I didn't do too badly yesterday after posting my message - maybe just writing about it helped.
I received my 3 Tae Bo tapes today and just got to look at about 10 minutes of the instructional one. My youngest daughter is off school with the flu and she wanted to lie on the settee and watch TV.
My other two are both at university one in first year and the other in his final year. They are both in Belfast during the week and come home at the weekends mainly to get their clothes washed, get fed and get rested up for the following week ahead. :rolleye:
Hopefully tomorrow I will get a chance to get started this Tae Bo and when or if I get the hang of it maybe the pounds will move
Gotta go now but will call in later on in the week.

Hello all!
I started my tae-bo tapes again today after dusting off about three inches of dust. I was just curoius about how much weight each one of you faithful tae-boers have lost since you started the tapes. My birthday is the 23rd and I'm hoping to make some kind of difference in my body before then. I know that's around the corner, but hey, miracles can happen. I started a crazy diet of hot chocolate in the mornig and afternoon, since it fills me up alot. I have fruit in between and eat a sensible dinner. I gues you could say it's like slim-fast, but without the nasty shakes. When I tried the tapes before, I never saw any real results, but everyone around me did. Has that happened to any of you? Well, if you could let me know how fast you saw results and how many pounds you've lost I'd appreciate it.

Thanks a lot!
Kyra

Good Afternoon Ladies
A little about me... I"m 40, single & no children, except my dog...he's like my kid to me. When I first started I weighed 173lbs... and for the first two months did not really lose anything, I always had excuses of why not to exercise. Then Lauri, got on my butt & in the last two weeks i've lost 3.4 lbs.
I'm doing WW & for exericse I have a treadmill & taebo tapes & Richard Simmons tapes & Leslie Sansone & Jane Fonda & a healthrider in the garage... As you can see, I'm always looking for that "MIRACLE" exercise or piece of equiptment. But i've come to realize, the only miracle is to exericse & eat right. My work brings alot of stress & alot of eating out with the clients. I have gained close to 18 lbs in the last 1 1/2 years. My problem is when I go out to eat I eat the appetizers, then the meal & top it off with dessert. WW is helping me with my food portions...
Semo - Good for you trying yoga... I heard it really help the muscles with all that stretching... Just work it in when you can.
Lauri - Is there any chance that your hubby might have to go out of the country. I hope not..
Jen - I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. You went through such a difficult time.
Anne - work at your own pace on the video's. You can do it.. just be sure and modify if you need too..
we'll I better run...

Well, here's how the exercise went for the day....

I put in the Reebok dance video only to be proven a completely uncooridinated clutz!! I did OK for a while, then she started with turns and crossing over with the feet and I just couldn't get it right. I took it out and put my old aerobics video in and did that instead. All combined I got 35 minutes in....15 minutes of tripping over my own feet and 20 minutes of aerobics!! I will try it again tomorrow and see if I can catch on.

Yesterday I only did my 8 minute Tae Bo. I intended just to rest Saturday, but I think 3 hours of walking around stores shopping while waiting for my car to get out of the shop counts for something, don't you??? It's so hard to find a good video that ya like to do, that's not too hard, but is still challenging. I have one more coming in the mail, so I hope I like it.

Anyhoo, I've got to go...my children are telling me they're hungry....again.

hi girls!! I am in the need of a little backside kicking myself. I have been on this plan since 1 jan. And frankly I want a big mac LOL!!! I am trying to stay motivated, but I am having a difficult time. I don't think my hubby knows how to help me.
anyway,
1 day, no thank God my husband does not have to go anywhere. His specialty field was originally Missile Maintenance, Now he runs training. However, one of the docs I work for (there are 7 and he's myfavorite) was called over, because he's in the Wyoming Air Guard. Don't know what they want with an ob-gyn LOL!! He's actually a flight surgeon as well. So I am stressed worrying about my friend. He does keep in touch with me through email. And I talk to his wife about once a week.
Someone, mentioned some TaeBo for us old hags? I forget who that was, but are there really videos for those of us over 40?
I would like to check those out please.
You all have a good day!

Good Morning Ladies, I get so excited when I come back here and see lots of posts. Frankly I post on another site and it seems they start off great then fizzle out. So I'm enjoying being with you guys.

I had my car worked on yesterday too. I picked up my youngest son (college student) and we had a nice lunch and did some shopping (he is leaving for spring break on Sunday-FL) I enjoyed the day and went to the hobby shop and actually spent about an hour and a half just walking and looking around. (Usually I have someone tapping a foot because they are ready to go)

I have to add that I'm a blonde out of the bottle too! That's funny to me that we have so many blonde ladies. Heehee I think that I am almost totally gray by now, I had quite a lot of gray by the time I was 30. DH is black headed with very little gray showing. I've told him it's because I'm easy to get along with and he's not therefore I got the gray by putting up with him. Not really he's a good guy.

Did 30 min on the Orbritreck this morning and drinking my water. I've started taking my vitamins again and think that I'm feeling better. (more engery) Or it could be the exercise or both.

Well I had better get back to work, seems everyone dropped something off on my desk yesterday while I was away.

Lauri, I almost forgot to tell you that I was the one that purchased the TaeBo for over 40 and it's a little harder than the basic tape (or at least I thought so). Don't know how it would compare to the Advanced tapes because I don't own any of those.

Hello all!

I SO did NOT want to exercise today, but I did it anyway. I really need to find a video I like soon, or I might be heading for a burn out. Did 40 minutes of Tae Bo today. My muscles feel like jell-o right now. I'm not feeling sore or anything, but my muscles feel kinda weak....it's weird. I wonder if I'm not eating enough calories for the amount of exercise I'm doing. Is 1200 enough you think?? It's always so tempting to cut the calories, but after much reading on the subject, anything less than 1200 is counterproductive.

Oh yeah.....here's a big *KICK* in the butt for ya Lauri!!

Talk at ya later,
Jen

Good Afternoon Ladies
Jen - Way to Go on the exercise. I know you didn't feel like it but you stuck to it...There is a website that sells video's, I can't think of the name, but i'll look & see if i can find it...They have thousands...maybe you find something you like...Do you have cable? I know in the mornings on Lifetime channel, Denise Austin is on there every morning. On your calories 1200 does sound to low to...I'll see what some of the web sites say.

Semo - What is a orbritreck? I've been meaning to ask you. I also need to start taking my vitamins... I have some on the kitchen counter, I always seem to forget them...maybe i need to bring them to work. Your son is going to Florida.. he will have a blast.. TV has been advertising "spring break" on the MTV channels... boy some of those girls are barely wearing any cloths...(Wish I had a body like them)..

Lauri - sometimes your body just craves something fattening. One thing you could do, is order the burger, no fries & eat only 1/2 of it... maybe that would satisfy your craving.

Well for me... I been staying OP, and drinking my water... the hard part for me is still the exercise... but i did manage to walk 2 miles last night...
Need to run, talk to you all later...

Patty the Orbitrek is an elliptical machine. Go to your search and type in Orbitrek and the one I have is the original. The cost is a lot lower than when I purchased mine. It's a cross between a stepper and a bike, it reminds me of riding a bike standing up. Anyway, I've had quite a collection of exercise equipment and most ended up as expensive clothes racks. But I've had this for over a year and I'm still using it. When I started I could only do 2 minutes, (of course having the handle bars on backwards didn't help) and now I can go 30 to 50 min without having a heart attack. I just turn on the music and go.

Lauri, I still eat at fast food places every once in awhile. What I do is order a childs meal, fun meal, etc. That way you get to splurge and still not do too much damage. I'm not saying do this every day but when you have to have that hamburger you can.

I'm still playing catch up after taking off yesterday, so I better run.

Hello ladies. I went through the Tae Bo instructional tape today to try and learn the different moves - I think I will need to repeat it again tomorrow I suppose all you girls are by now experts at it
I didn't go to WW tonight as I felt fat and did not want to pay £4.30 only to be told that I had put on weight
My youngest daughter is still off school with the flu and she is feeling really miserable but there is not a lot can be done for it as I think it just runs its course.
I am really tired now and I really should be in bed as it is nearly midnight and I have to get up at 7 AM to make my hubby's lunch before he goes to work at 7.20
Will call again.

Just wanted to pop in real quick. I FINALLY found a new video. I had to run to the store, and next door to the store is a pawn shop. I just happened to peek in the window and saw an aerobics video. It was only $2 so I figured what the heck. I came home and popped it in the VCR and I LOVE it!! It's just what I was looking for. It's from the 80's, so the hair styles the girls have are a crack up, but the workout is great.

Anne: I don't think anyone is an "expert" at Tae Bo except Billy Blanks himself! Don't worry, it does take a few tries to get it right, but you'll have it in no time. Just stick with it!!

Anyhoo, I'm off for now.
