Got a question. My mom is about 5'3, weighs around 190. I am pushing her to go to the walking track after work or right before work to get some exercise in. I mentioned this to a co-worker and she said that the only way a person would see results from walking would be if she walked at least 4-5 miles at least 4 days a week. Is that true?
No news yet on the Y problem.. will update soon. I feel soooooooo bloated!! I hate it! TTOM is almost here.
I'm drinking water as I type here.. hoping to get it in today.. last 3 days I haven't hardly drunk any water at all! I'm such a slacker! That's probably why my weight is up a few lbs. too.. so I'm working hard to get back on track! Send me gooood vibes please!!!
Hope everyone is doing well today! We can do this!!
Today, I had a pleasant surprise. Today was my day off and my mom suggested we go shopping. Well, I decided I wanted to buy a new shirt, to perk me up. Well...I wear a medium now! I was so excited! I don't remember ever wearing a medium. lol That is what I needed to keep on moving.
I do have a question for those pear shape people out there. Does anyone else have a big difference in sizes with their tops and bottoms? I wear a medium shirt, but I wear size 16 in pants. I get very frustrated because I can't buy dresses because they are always so big on top. Has anybody else have a similar problem and how long did it take for your bottom half to catch up on losing weight? I also have a problem with pants because my waist is like a size 14 but the rest is 16. So, I always have to wear belts. LOL Oh well, I'm just curious.

Hello, Hello, Hello my walking friends...
*Welcome*
to all those new to the thread
It has been one heck of a week for me so far... much better today Over the weekend we got hit with quite a snow storm... very wet and heavy losing several shrubs and a very badly damaged crabapple tree And we were the lucky ones... so many lost trees, cars & some homes were badly damaged from falling trees! We were out of electric for 6 hrs, but some for days! There are still about a thousand homes w/o power. *What a mess!* Here are a couple pics of our home and what we got --- a total of 17" that stuck!
This was the start of the storm & our crabapple tree:
These are after the storm... look at our poor little tree
It's much better today --- Joe & I had to lift up 3 major branches (losing one), brace them and bind them with electrical tape (because it expands with the tree)... it looks pretty good today I am praying that it will heal up. The snow is almost gone now and with the rains we have today... hopefully it will all be gone soon.
Otherwise all is well... I walked this morning getting in 4.25 miles
Have a great day gals! You are all doing so very well!!!!!
Sunny, sorry to hear about your trees! Do you walk outside? 4 miles at a time, that's awesome! How long does it take you, if I might ask.
It's been cold and windy here so yesterday I only got in 1/4 mile but I also did some yoga. I'm going outside today no matter what. I really miss the outdoor walk.
Sherrita, I have a similar problem. I'm rather small on top but wear a 16 pant because of my big waistline. I'm not sure what the answer is. Congrats on your medium skirt! That's exciting.
Hi all! Just checking in. I don't have any miles to add. I'm pretty disappointed in my lack of progress. But its been sooooo busy. We've had so much going on. Helping friends move, went to a concert in Austin Monday night, etc. I just haven't had time. I'm feeling sooooo tired now and I tried on clothes yesterday and even though the # on the scale is the same I can feel the fat around my belly. Its so frustrating that it can come back in just 2 weeks. Grrrrrrrr But, I know its my own fault and I just have to do better!
Selina-Sorry about your problem with the Y. Never heard of that. Its sad that one person can ruin it for everyone. You shouldn't be judged on what that one person did. I didn't know you had foster kids. Bravo to you. You're a very special person.
Sherri-I have the same problem myself. My hips and belly are big enough that I have to wear a size 16. But I'm wearing a large top or smaller. Congratulations for getting into a size M shirt! Awesome!
Sunny-wow! Sorry about your snow storm! Those photos are wild! Turns out that we had a hail storm here while I was in Austin on Monday. There was almost a tornado too but luckily it dissapated. Whew. scary!
Thats all I have to say for now. Take care everyone. You're doing so well!
I haven't had a chance to get on here the past few days. Life has been crazy.
Monday night my oldest son was hit head on by an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler lost control and ended up totally in my son's lane and hit him head on. He is basically ok just really banged up, but we spent the entire night in the ER. Of course, his truck his totalled, but it was a miracle that it wasn't worse then it was! There were 2 other head on collisions that night in our city (it was rainy and wet) and there were fatalities in both of them, and they were just cars and pickups - not 18 wheelers. So we truly understand how bad it could have been!
Yesterday was wild (2 hours of sleep) and today I am taking him to see his doctor who will thoroughly check him out.
Basically, don't think I'll get much exercise in over the next few days. Busy with doctors and insurance companies and taking care of son. But will be here when I can.

Cathy, I'll keep your son in my prayers. SunnyD, I'm hoping some spring will head your way and knock that snow right outta there. Selina, good luck with the Y! Sherrita, I'm a pear. My waist is an 8, but my hips make me about a 10. I'm much smaller on top compared to my hips. I guess that's the hourglass figure I'm supposed to love Welcome all newbies! I haven't logged any more miles to speak about, but just wanted to say hi. Keep it up the hard work!

Morning Walking Buddies
What a beautiful morning it is!! Thank-you all for your kind words & concerns. It's finally sounding and feeling like Spring My front garden has the color of blue from our myrtle blooming We have some broken branches on our azalea's, but they aren't too bad... I still have not gone over to look at my English Garden on the side of our home --- maybe this afternoon. The sun is peeking out of the clouds right now and I have a couple buckets to remove from my painted daisies
I got in 4 miles this morning
That makes 44 miles walked for April...
I just may make 50 this month
*~*~*
Hi Cindy Gail, Yes I do walk outdoors... it was very cold this morning 34* I walk a 20 min mile... not very fast, but I am out there It takes me about 1 hour and 20 min to walk the 4 miles and I am out the door at 5:10am, so I can get it all in... me and my flashlight
*~*~*
You guys are not going to believe this!!!!
But as I am finishing up this to you all I looked out the window and it's SNOWING again!!!! Snowing... huge flakes!!!! I just cannot believe it!!! What is going on here!!!! Now... I am bumming... ... ... When will this all come to an end! It was so beautiful this morning and clear enough to see the stars
Have a good day everyone!!!
I'm sure gonna try to
Luvs & Hugs,
SunnyD-I LOVE the Glorious Day pic and the cute little SunnyD girl with her cat. Too cute! I can't believe you got more snow! Crazy! Hope it will clear up for you soon. Its supposed to be 90 degrees here today. Ugh. In April! I am NOT looking forward to what June and July will be like here!
Wow. Cathy it is a miracle! God is so good! I hope everything will go ok at the doctors visit. Truly amazing. Take care.
Cathie, I'm VERY sorry to hear that your son was in an accident... but I'm certainly glad he's alright! Sounds like someone was looking out for him! Let us know how he's doing, will you?
Sunny, Wow! Snowing again? That's some crazy weather you've been dealing with! Hopefully it won't last long and you can get out there and enjoy the Spring! Great work getting in all those miles! Keep it up!
Amy, 90degrees today? Man alive! It's been pretty nice up here the last week or so... hit 32C on Tuesday! We usually see a couple straight weeks of 40+ in the summer... unbearable! Eeesh. Btw, how's your cat doing? Much better, I hope!
Selina... Sorry to hear about the troubles you've been having at the Y! That definitely sucks that you're being penalized because of someone else's behaviour. Hopefully you'll get it all ironed out!
Everyone else... a great big ol' HELLO! Keep up the fantastic work, ladies! Two days left to rack up those miles, let's get out there and WALK... WALK... WALK!
As for me, I've been having a rough couple days. Tuesday, I had a ridiculous migraine (2 weeks and counting until I see the neurologist!) which lasted until late last night. I've also been dealing with a "body image vs. reality" issue. Is anyone else going through this? I haven't been this size (8ish) in 3yrs but still see myself the same as before I started losing weight. Even though I managed to fit into a pair of size 8 capri's, I'm stuck thinking I'm still the size 15 I started out at. Is that normal?
Anyhow ladies, I hope you all have a HAPPY and HEALTHY day today! Take care of yourselves, best wishes and I'll type you all later!
Just a quick check-in. I walked 1 mile yesterday and 1 mile today which makes 27-1/4 miles. I would like to get some 2-mile walks in and hopefully can next week when it's expected to be a little warmer and less windy.
Thanks for replying Sunny.
Cathy, I'm sorry to hear about your son's accident. I'm glad to hear he is ok. Hugs to you.
