  • After reading through this thread, I think I might start this program on Monday. All of the success stories coming from people who weren't runners before makes me think that maybe I can do it too. I really loathe running through....
  • Hi y'all! I'm new to the site but not new to C25K... this is my third try and I've always gotten to week 6 but never finished, eek! I'm sort of in week 7 now... I took about a week off of running because I was busy with family/holidays and then I got sick, and had two bad starts on W7D1 this week, so today I just gave up and "made up" my own C25K day, and did two 12-minute splits with a 3-minute walk in between, which ended up being super easy. After that I'm sure I'll finally feel confident enough to do W7D1 next time I run!
  • Hi all , I am making my 3rd attempt with C25K. I now have figured out modifications to hopefully make me successful.
  • I really like this thread. I am new to this Forum, new to my weight loss plan and new to wanting to run. I have never felt like I could run, nor wanted to. But, I have always envied those people who loved it and seemed addicted to it. I've been walking since starting my plan on Jan 2. Today I walked 5 miles. Feels great and I realize that I love walking outside much more than on the treadmill, even though I am in Philly and its cold here. I also seem to go much faster outside.

Question: Is this program an iPhone app? I dont know where to find the actual program.

Anyone else doing this in the Philly area?
  • Welcome to the thread, good to see more people trying out C25K. Good for you, Janey, to give it a go - if you find you still really don't like running, there are a lot of other forms of exercise to do; pick one that you love, the important thing is to keep on moving!

I don't know about the apps, I don't have an iPhone myself. Try googling C25K; I've been following the one from coolrunning.com but there are a few programs, take your pick!

I'm actually on Week 8 now - gee, the end is in sight! I'm so slow that I only cover a little over 2 miles in the 28 minutes, so I've got to work on increasing my speed. I'm just happy (and amazed!) that I am jogging for an entire 28 minutes now - don't think I ever have before in my life!
  • There is an iphone app. It gives the first week free, then if you like it, you can purchase it for like 2 dollars.
  • We'll I started c25k i did w1d1 twice as i still don't think i'm ready to move up (I still haven't been able to run a full min with out stopping within the last 15 secs although i do run during each run interval) wish me luck.
  • I started the program, but with modifications. Having to start out a little slower. Lol

You'll get there. Just stick with it and don't rush things. At the end of July, I couldn't run a full minute either. I ran 3 miles Tues, 3 miles Thurs, 3 miles yesterday, and 7.5 miles this morning.

Disclaimer, I did run it using 5/1 intervals. I'm coming back from a 3.5 week illness break and still working back up. I'm only 7 weeks out from my half marathon, so I'm trying to be careful not to rush it. I'd rather still be running intervals than not be able to finish the half. This week I'm moving back up to 8/1 intervals.
  • How are we doing ladies? I can't get to running today until my hubby gets out of work, I have a sick one home today.
  • I did W7D1 last night, the first time I've ever run 2 miles all in one go (I wasn't really at that pace the whole time so I had to pound it out for the last minute, but the point is that I did it!). Really good/easy run, although I think I have it to blame for why my thighs were burning so much at yoga this morning.

Congrats on starting, those of you who have! I think it's smart of all of you to do modifications where you need them, there are definitely days when I've felt like the program was pushing me too hard (but other days when it was pushing me just hard enough). I just always told myself if I couldn't complete a day it wasn't a failure -- because the point of C25K is building endurance, and even if I can't make it as far as it wants me to this time, it's helping me build up for next time.
  • I bought the iphone app last night and am starting tonight. I'm really excited! I've been walking alot since I started in September and have slowly been able to add in running without feeling like I was dying when I stopped but am nowhere near able to run an entire 5k. I really hope the program works for me.
  • I'm new to the thread but I am a former c25k graduate! That was before the baby came so I'm just now finding time to get out and run again. It's a little discouraging having to start over but I remember how good it felt to be able to run 3 miles so I think that will keep me motivated. I've got W1D1 finished so plenty more to go but I will get there.
  • Wow! Great to see this thread so active!

I graduated early from the C25K program, but am still working on improving my pace. I've signed up for my first official race in March, so I guess I'll just keep plugging away until then, when it will become more real!
  • tried to redo day 2 today, it wasn't in me. So I did intervals of just walking on the treadmill then went to the elliptical and the bike for a little bit.
