  • @tacocat1: Go for it! I was so glad I tried the program, then injured myself and got sidetracked for the last two weeks after getting through W2. Its great to hear someone new trying it out, I plan on starting slow again monday, but before I tried to run everyday, this time I think I'm going to slow down quite a bit!
@NEMom: Congrats on W3!! You can definitely do it, don't get psyched out!
  • I decided to redo week 3 because it was so wildly unsuccessful the first time around. I added some happy and varied songs onto my ipod and the three minute run intervals didn't seem nearly as unpleasant as they were last time I tried them It also helped that I was running at sea level instead of at altitude (I'm visiting my parents in Southern California this week) and that it was sunny and warm instead of windy and snowing.

But it's remarkable how much my difference in attitude affected my run. I've been really happy lately in life so even though running continues to be miserable and slow, I didn't have to talk myself out of quitting at all. And once I realized I had just run 2 miles (this doesn't include the walking part of the exercise), I was incredulous. That's really far for me to run!

I must be on some happy pills or something because I'm actually excited to go out again today.

    Happy running, everyone!
  • I started c25k this week....I have done the first two workouts of week 1. My last c25k workout of the week is tomorrow. Looking forward to getting into 5k shape as I lose weight!

  • Hey guys!

I'm an exercise-phobe and I'm hoping to start C25K tomorrow. I have 9 to 5 days most days and so I'm going to try and get up early in the morning to jog so hopefully no one will see me :P

I want to do exercise for a number of reasons, but mainly its to lose weight as I'm on the chubby side. Dieting never seems to work with me. Usually that's due to a lack of self control, but on occasion I have stuck to a diet for a while that seems to work for the rest of my family but never works for me! So I'm gonna try just eating healthier and give running a go. Have you guys lost much weight through running? I hear interval training is good.... would you say this is similar to interval training?

    I hope I stay motivated. I hate exercise with a passion. :P
  • I just finished Week 1 of C25K...will begin week 2 on Sunday.... I'm walking 3 miles everyday to build my endurance...
  • Hello! I want to join! I just finished week 3 day 1! It felt good and hard. The first day of the week is always harder then by the the 3rd day I feel so powerful and strong. Can't wait to get to 5 k!
  • I'd like to join in. Today I did week 1 day 1 and I felt so great when I was done
  • I'm starting week 1 tomorrow. Nervous and excited. My knees aren't great, so I hope I can di it and it makes them stronger!
  • I just finished w3d2! I felt awesome. I think I might run everyday as I run really slow right now and for such a short period of time.
  • I am doing a 5k mud run in June. I have always wanted to but didn't due to my weight. I just downloaded the couch to 5k app and will probably start tomorrow morning after my 30 day shred! Can't wait to start it.
  • Hi all. Just budging in on page 21 here. I've been trying to do the C25k plan since 2009 when I still lived in my college dorm! I have failed every time since then. Work, school, weather, moving - you name it, it was my excuse. I think the farthest I got was week 5 two years ago.

Anyways despite the freezing drizzle at 36 degrees with gusting winds outside, I went out for a run this morning! It was my best first run ever. Between being in better shape, weighing less and having better running shoes than my most recent restart (last fall), it went smoothly. I can't wait to do it again when the wind gusts aren't suffocating me and my face isn't numb.

Congrats to all who are chugging along!!
  • I did week1 day 1 today, and, to be honest, it was really hard! I felt great that I did it though, and I didn't even get mad at my zombie trainer! I'm hoping it gets easier though.
  • I just wanted to give a shout of encouragement to all you C25Kers. This program REALLY WORKS. I did it in 2010, and on W1D1 I couldn't run for 60 seconds and couldn't even finish the 20 minute workout! I kept at it, though, and actually did my first 5K when I was only 6 weeks into the program. I did two more 5Ks that summer and I totally loved running.

I quit running for a number of (lame) reasons and just started again today. I was afraid I was going to be right back to where I was when I did W1D1. But...I was actually able to run 1/4 mile before I had to walk, and was able to alternate 1/4 mile run - 1/4 mile walk to complete two miles.

Not only does C25K prepare you to be able to run a 5K but it actually does something in your brain and/or body that makes you a runner....even when you take two years off!

    Good luck everyone.
  • Ok after stalking this board today and reading everyone's posts... I want to do it too! Like really want to do it. I've been thinking about doing it for a year, but I'm nervous because I have plantar fascitis in both feet. I had surgery in 2009 on both of them, and while they are finally better this last year it still makes me nervous.
Maybe I'll just take it slow and repeat some days like some of you have. I think finishing a 5k is such an accomplishment, and it is one that I want. I know I can walk it.... but I want to RUN one! So... Starting Thursday this week, I'll work towards this goal... Unfortunately that is the earliest I can start since I work with my personal trainer tomorrow, and then work 9am until 11pm tuesday and wednesday!
  • Skinny girl - the program can take as long a you want of course! You don't even have to move on until you have mastered a week - I know in the past I've repeated week 1 or 2 especially. Chat with a doctor or a podiatrist about the right running shoes for someone with your history so you don't have any flare ups. I also did a lot of crosstraining before I began this week (heavy resistance on elliptical and upright bike). Take it slow and you'll achieve your goal!
