I went and ran on a treadmill yesterday (pouring rain outside) and it wasn't as bad as treadmills usually are for me. I'm jealous of the 6 feet tall guys who run beside me and their feet hit the ground at the same pace... but they're going 7mph and I"m going 5.5-6.0 mph. I"m happy though I managed about 2 mins at 6.8mph. Little steps.. haha.

Unfortunately, I think I"m getting sick... have a sore throat and cough... and... I have a 5k tomorrow. That's going to go well.

Whoohoo, just got back from the gym and did my 3rd day of running in a row, and I'm still alive lol.
I was SO tired this morning I really didn't feel like going but I forced myself to go and actually ended up having a really good workout. I beat my 5k time again and went from 38mins 35secs for 5k to 38mins 20secs I think it was, so really pleased with that.

Fatpants - good luck on your race! You are ready and will do great!

Loving - congrats on shaving some time of your 5k pr.

Jane - congrats on the getting a treadmill workout in.

I was TMing it yesterday, too. 5 min brisk walking to warm up, 10 minutes easy jog, 15 minutes of interval (1 minute sprint, 2 minutes recover - 5 repeats) 5 minutes of slow jog with increased incline, and then a cool down. Almost skipped the workout b/c I didn't have a chance to get it in until late (after 8 pm) but I did it. How do y'all do your intervals? I've heard 1 minute on, 4 minutes off; two minutes on, three minutes off - different combos. And how many repeats? I do like mixing it up from my usual steady state running, and it's awesome to see the treadmill at a 7:30/mile pace even if it is just for a minute!

Happy weekend running and good luck to folks racing!

I ran a lot yesterday. I really quite surprised myself. I did a 20 minute run with no walking at 5.0, but had to slow down to 4.7 half way through. Then I did some strength training. Then, because I had time, I hopped back onto the treadmill with a good friend and alternated running/walking every 2:00 for 40 minutes! And I found it quite easy. I think I'm just plain going too fast for my C25K runs. On Tuesday I'm going to attempt the full 5K at a slow speed and I just bet I can do it.

Hey guys!! I finished my first half marathon yesterday.. I had SO MUCH FUN! It was tough, but a good kind of tough. I ran the entire thing except for walking through a few aid stations. The weather was perfect and it really couldn't have gone any better for my first half. I had good legs, no tummy troubles, and overall felt pretty good running. I finished in 2:45:09 which is on the dot where I predicted I would finish. FUN!!! I have already signed up for another half in October.

I put some pictures on my blog if anyone is interested: http://adiosfatpants.blogspot.com

I'm sore today but not as bad as I thought I would be. I'm taking a few days off to recover but already looking forward to my next run!

Congrats Fat Pants! That's so amazing that you felt good & ran the time you expected. And signed up for another one. You just keep running.

Ok runners, I am at the point where I can run 4 miles at a stretch, but still having consistency issues. I want to run 4 times a week, but it's more like 3. I want to run 4 times this week. I go on vacation next week & won't have much of a chance to run at all. I want to enjoy this week & the May weather.

Congrats FP! That is awesome!

And Jane, big congrats on your sub-30 5k...that's what I've got my eyes on, too!

Eliana - way to go with the long running. You are making definite strides (no pun intended!) as a runner.

Rainy today and I have a headache and luckily today is a scheduled rest day, but inspiring to read about everybody's successes!

Fatpants: Congratulations Very nice. You are a half marathoner now !!!!!!!

sznn : my half is in 6 weeks as well. I'm doing the Seattle Rock and roll (June 26). I haven't had an eight miler yet. Next week I think .

momof5k: do it! do it ! You already did half right......

Jane: a sub 30 min 5k is next on my list.

LM: I have a garmin 305 and I really like using it too. Congrats on all your success.

Blue: When I do intervals I change the times and distances. sometimes I do shorter faster times. sometimes I do longer(400/800 ) at the local track. it's all helpful.
