  • nothing like a little phallic humor to make you crack a smile when you're cranking out 13.1 miles...
  • So I have a new question. I've worked through the ankle pain - my ankle is stronger now so no more issues on my 3-4 mile runs, the stitches, etc. So yesterday I had pain about 2.5 miles into my run just below my sternum. any thoughts on that? Didn't eat anything 3 hours before my run, as usual.

I've also decided that running in full sun at 30C is not my favourite thing to do. I never thought I'd like clouds.
  • Hey runners - just found this thread and thought I'd chime in. I started running in 2005, then trained for and ran a Half in 2008. I quit running for a while during a "restricted activity" pregnancy (baby #4 born May 2009) and have been back at it now this last 6mo.

I was pretty excited to run my first 5 miler in a long time on Sunday. I'm doing about 10 or so miles a week right now, working my way up.

  • Ran just under 2.5 miles after taking a 2 week break today. It felt great to be back! The run was tougher that it should have been. Partly from the break, partly it's like my pace is like, increasing itself? It's weird, even since I ran my last 5K I run faster without intending to. Running slow is painfully hard too, so I just run at what feels comfortable. I think my lungs aren't used to it because I get more winded than usual (manageable but uncomfy winded), my legs are good though.

Ok, now that I think about it, I started strength training. That explains a LOT hahaha.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a fun run week.
  • Whoohoo, I really didn't want to go for my outside run today, but I did it and am so glad I did.
I ran the same route as my last outside run, 5.46k, but smashed my time by almost 3mins. I ran almost 32mins non-stop at the beginning and did 4.2k in that time, including the hills, then ran walked the last 1.3k or so as it was mostly uphill.
Last run my average speed was 7.3kph and I did 5k in 41.16. Today my average speed as 7.7kph and I did 5k in 38.59!!! I managed 5k in under 40mins, including hills!!!!! I am just so happy about this, because my aim for my first 5k race is to be able to run the whole thing and finish in under 40mins. The race circuit is supposed to be mostly flat so after today I'm thinking that this goal really might be possible. I know that if it hadn't been for another hill in front of me today I'd have been able to keep running for longer, but I'm still really proud that I managed the hills that I did.
  • Loving Me - Thats FABULOUS!! What a wonderful feeling to achieve a personal best!

Anyone got a Summer Goal in mind? Similar to LM, I want to improve my 5k time. My goal is 36min by the end of the summer.
  • summer goal - sub 30 5k! I have a race 3rd weekend of August where I'd love to hit that, but I have no idea what the route is like (hills) so need to do a little research. A 9:30 min/mile pace will get me there!

Looks like another big afternoon thunderstorm so no outdoor workout - gym for me, maybe treadmill intervals and some upper body strength work. No, what is that maybe, about? Nix the maybe, I'm DOIN' it.
  • I have been in a rut. Part of it might be that I have no upcoming races to keep me motivated. Another part may be the rain that has been pouring down here for the last week. Ugh.

At did get out and do 3.5 miles tonight. Woohoo! It wasn't a great run but not terrible either.

I am still on the fence about half marathon training. Maybe...

It's been kinda quiet here....here's to a wonderful June!!
