6--Bike to work and back, about 40 min/13K; 60-min upper body/abs class; 30-min run, 6.2 mph, 30:22
Echo and patchworkpenguin--I started off running by doing one minute at a time, and then walking for a minute. I did that for half an hour or so, and I was wiped! I moved up slowly, to a minute and a half at a time, then two minutes. One day, I was supposed to be running for 5 minutes, and I realized I was feeling good enough to keep going, and before I knew it I had run 10 minutes. Keep at it--you will be there before you know it!
I don't think there are very many people on the planet who feel
fantasic when they run--it's hard work! Most people I've spoken to have bad days, when they can't run worth a damn, and some days that are pretty good--as in, once they got past the initial "this sucks! why am I running?!?" they felt okay when they kept going. Running is mostly a mental game--I run because I
choose to do it, and to keep going...not because my body
likes it, or it's "better" than other cardio. I choose to do it, I
choose to push myself. And you should both be pleased with yourselves--you are pushing yourselves too. Well done!!
