HI EVERYBODY ~ it's late, but I just want to pop in quickly and say Hi!
HEY MO ~ So glad you are back; I was counting the days off on my calender even; and sounds like you had a great time! What fantastic news ~ that Eric was accepted for in-home therapy; we are all so happy for you! I agree with MONET ~ 3 lbs is just peanuts: they will come back off in no time. I'm glad Curves is helping you out so much as well.
My hand is almost totally healed now; just can't quite get a perfect grip yet, but, my sis says that will take a little more time (she broke fingers in the past). I don't have to wear the metal brace anymore and I can type easier this week as well, so I have been posting more too.
CATS ~ glad to have you join us; looks like you are a returnee??? Sorry you have suffered so much; good for you for not giving up! Swimming and walking may be the best choices for you; they are for me (plus the hand-weights and chair aerobics).
HI MONET ~ so nice to see you pop in again!
Well, hope all our other visitors are well; take care and keep on, keepin' on ~ your fellow encourager ... ROSEBUD.

Hi and thanks for the welcomes... I'm in Ontario (GTA). I'm sort of a returnee, I had found this site before, somehow forgot about it, then was told about it again and didn;t realize i had signed on before but not posted. I get kind of distracted sometimes Anyways I am here now and looking for info on diet/exercise/nutrition and support.
Hope to start walking soon... swimming is harder, I can only go once a week.
BTW I did curves before and enjoyed it... till I moved house and the local curves is soooo unfriendly it just depressed me, i couldn;t face going any more. (I met another lady who said the same so at least it wasn;t just me!) i lost a lot on their low carb diet too but it turned out it caused other problems for me so i stopped. and i think you can guess the rest.
Thanks for all the good luck vibes for Eric, I will keep you all updated. Catshorses we just got back from visiting in the GTA area, before we moved here we lived in Oakville,Burlington, and then Whitby so we had lots of people to visit and my SIL lives in TO.
I know what u mean about curves my place is so friendly so that makes it easier to go, if it was different l would'nt enjoy it as much.
Rosebud, I am glad your hand is healing nice, and your sister is right it takes time so don't over doit or else you will have a set back, I can't wait to go home next year now that Eric is getting theraphy he will be a different boy.
I have scleroderma and associated conditions like Sjogren's Syndrome and Raynaud's Phenomenon, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia, and have had great success with an elliptical trainer. I was able to start out really slowly, barely able to go for a few minutes before my muscles started screaming at me, but it improved over a few weeks. I also use a heart rate monitor and stay within a range my doc recommended. Not only is this a good exercise on its own, it has improved my ability to ride a bike, so now I can add that to walking and the elliptical.
I've never been one to believe the adage about exercise improving the fatigue associated with autoimmune diseases and fibromyalgia, but it's working. For the first time in many, many years, I haven't had a major fatigue "attack" for a year (knocking on wood...)
On not having a attack in a year that is great news. I am also glad you found a way to exercise and feel good about yourself. You made a good point, nobody should do any exercise untill they talk with there doctor to make sure you don't do any damamge.
Your doing great and now that your starting to lose weight you will feel even better.
Rosebud How are you doing? haven't seen a post from you in awhile? How's the hand? been overdoing it? I am doing great lost 6.5 more inches and 7lb's in 2 weeks. Everyone at curves is so happy for me.
Well got to go and take Eric to school so everyone have a great day!!!
HI EVERYONE ~ ~ I tried to come in to post yesterday, but kept getting DATABASE ERROR MESSAGES; apparently, I wasn't the only one. Seems there was a problem for a while, but they seem to have it all fixed it up today.
And sometimes, this old PC gives me some trouble, as you already know; so I don't get to post as much as I would like. So, my DEAR SIS is sending me up another PC with more memory at the end of May via my Dad; what a sweetie she is; GOD bless her!
MO ~ that is such a beautiful picture of ERIC; what a handsome little guy he is; I'm so happy that he's getting to go to school to learn some way to communicate (just sorry he had to wait so long). We live in a very rich country; you know there are a group of lawyers fighting in Ontario right now for the rights of the disabled; and they are winning, MO! I am personally seeing the benefits of their efforts; and I hope this will spread to children like ERIC real soon!!!
CONGRATS on the NSV (non-scale victories); I also have lost six single sizes plus several inches too; my weight has plateaued, so I'm gonna have to watch a little more carefully and increase my walking a little to improve things. I know I can do better; I was going over my plan and I see some places where there is room for improvement.
Thanks MO ~ My hand is much better; and you're right ~ if I overdo it, it throbs; but it looks totally normal now (no swelling or color). I just have to remember that the inside needs to heal longer than the outside.
AMIE ~ I'm glad that you have found a way to exercise that helps you; I have been having some trouble. I'll have to go look up what an elliptical trainer looks like; can't remember ~ LOL! I get that tingly problem in my hands sometimes too, Amie (Reynauld's Syndrome); I did have bad frostbite on my hands when I was a child; if they get cold now, I get those weird tinglies; but my circulation problems were inherited.
HI TO ALL OUR OTHER FRIENDS ~ I hope you are all well and progressing with your goals; take good care of yourselves and keep on, keepin' on! Your fellow encourager ... ROSEBUD!

I am not certain whether i am posting in the correct section sorry if it is in the wrong spot. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999 but i have notice that in the past eighteen months my mobility has deteriorated and i now have a tendency to drag my right leg. Fatigue is the biggest enemy to exercise when you do a few minutes and all you want to do afterwards is go to bed and sleep not exactly conductive to weight loss. Most of my exercise is done later in the day when it is cooler and i seem to achieve more.
You found the right spot and hopefully we can help you with ideas. The way l look at it is any exercise no matter how small counts so don't get discouraged if you can only do a few minutes at a time. Remember to listen to your body it knows best so if you need to take a break after a few minutes do so, and when your stronger again do a few more minutes. I know how hard MS can be, my best friend has it. Just do your best and take care of your self. If you just want to post about struggles or even good things in your life please do and someone will answer you.
I have CP and fine bike riding and swimming is the best for me as walking is hard on my hips.
Rose bud How are you doing? besides computer problems that is. Glad your doing better and that your enjoying our nice weather finally. Enjoy your long weekend and remember to drink as much water as your body will let you, as it will make you feel great.
Well l got to go and pick Eric up from school so have a great weekend everyone.
I have never let multiple sclerosis rule my life I am its master. But it has taken me a long while to come to terms with its limitations. I do not beat myself up if today I can not exercise tomorrow is another day and that might be a good day.
When I have read through this thread with other people with varying syndromes etc. I realise how lucky I am and that I am really blessed that I have a wonderful DH who looks after me (he has given up so much to care for me but never complains and always puts me first) Plus I have a caring loving family who help me as much as possible.
With all the support I receive from people here on 3fc and my family and friends I know I am going to get to my goal.
I am going out this morning with my only girlfriend here in Calgary, we are gonna hit the used kids stores (she is looking for costumes) I want to see if l can find one of those bike trailers to hook to my bike so I can go bike riding with Eric, I have the seat on my bike but he is getting too big for it and is no where ready to learn to ride a bike so this way I can enjoy my favorite pass time bike riding with him.
Then we are going out for lunch, I am so excited haven't been out for lunch since we moved here. Then when I get home DH and I are gonna move his computer out of the spare bedroom to get it ready for Eric's theraphy room. I am so excited that he is finally gonna get the help he needs. And to top off this great day I lost another 1lb so everything is great.
Hope you all have a great weekend (long weekend here in Canada) and enjoy something beautiful each day to bring a smile to your face.
HI EVERYONE ~ ~ You wouldn't believe it unless I told ya; IT SNOWED HERE TODAY ~ ya, really! DH and I worked hard yesterday (more DH than me) tilling the garden; then we planted three big rows of potatoes and I planted my salad garden while refereeing between DH and three very small munchkins who kept running all thru his garden (one was 2; one 4; one 5); and they wouldn't listen until DH got really annoyed after fixing the rows five times; then they all scattered like bugs. It was hilarious, but taxing; I kept thinking of Mr. Wilson and Dennis the Menace x 3 ~ LOL!
ANYWAYS, we survived the day; and the (unchaperoned) kiddies had a blast annoying Gramma and Grampa next door (that's what they call us); but Gramma's got lots more patience, however thin ~ hehe! We're gonna make them their own sandbox to play in next week; cuz they'll need it for the summer; or DH may end up in the HOME FOR THE BEWILDERED!
ANYHOW, as for me; I'm really starting to feel better; the flu seems to be gone for sure, FINALLY! Unfortuneately, my legs have been giving me lots of trouble (pain); my knee has been collapsing more this week, maybe I strained it too much. Other than that, things are going great for us; I got all my housework done today; and baked some Apricot-Oat & Bran Muffins today and we had a lovely steak dinner.
PURPLEORC ~ glad you stopped by; we have three friends that have MS; one is in a mobile chair, and he's doin' fab; and two ladies who are very early on (one is doing well in every respect; the other one struggles with anxiety, but who can really blame her). Fatigue is a major problem for many of us; we have to rest when we can and do when we can.
HELLO AMIE ~ nice to see you pop in; your posts are short and sweet ~ LOL!
MO ~ that's so wonderful you have a good friend to go shopping with and out to lunch; all my closest friends have moved away. Most of my family live down south, so I really empathize with you.
My aunt & uncle came to visit me the other day; and my Dad and step-mother are coming next week all the way from down south (they come twice a year). Now that my health is getting better, DH and I will be able to make some trips too; before I got sick we used to travel a lot. Our biggest dream is to own our own home, and to travel more!
Well, I hope all of our friends are in good health, and staying OP as best you can. Take good care of yourselves; and keep on, keepin' on ~ your fellow
encourager ... Rosebud.
