Come join us to chat about Weight Loss with Diabetes!

I feel bloated and fat but the scale is down to 172.2. Go figure! I slept better last night. But I just realized I have my nightgown on inside out!! I put it on in the dark.

I just had breakfast, fried eggs, 1 SL toast and sauteed mushrooms.

Carol Sue I take Alpha Lipoic Acid, Benfotiamine 300 and yesterday I started taking Nitric Oxide Gummies. I've always taken Alpha Lipoic Acid and started Benfotiamine because I heard a doctor on YouTube say that all elderly people should take it. Then I read about Nitric Oxide that is good for neuropathy on that article you shared about beets have it. Then I read something about it on FB. Since I could never eat enough beets, I decided to try the this instead of buying beet powder because some of the people who use it say they switched because the powder clumps sometime. I bought all these at Amazon, but DH told me that Sam's club sales the beet chewable so probably will buy them from Sam's from now own.

DH has gone to the store to get my prescription and a few things we either forgot or couldn't get at the other local store. He will get chicken for dinner. The thing I like about counting calories is that I can play around with the calories to stay within the calories I want to eat that day. So far so good. Of course, I have to hope that MFP is at least close to accurate.

Weight today was up a tad of .6 lbs to 157.8 lbs. So that is good.

DH is back so will go help put groceries away. Have a great day everyone.

I have been very hungry for Mac and Cheese. I only like my home made, but its never the same twice. I put whatever cheese I have in it but mostly velveeta. Today I added American, swiss, Colby jack and Mozzarella. It alters the taste a bit.

I will go to Wal-Mart tomorrow because I am almost out of G. Monday is senior day at Goodwill and we try to go then. Its right across from Walmart.

I feel a little better today. This morning my legs hurt but they feel better now. They feel stronger. I will try to get back to exercise tomorrow. I have to be consistent. But if I'm not home at noonish I dont do it.

Tomorrow I will get back to eating healthier. I can't trust myself to eat just anything because I end up eating too much. I got my test results on my oncology portal and the BUN is too high. I looked it up and found that it can be corrected but I need to eat less protein and more fruits and veggies. Vegan is better diet but that isn't going to happen. So I will work at getting a workable plan that I can follow to get things straightened out. I will still eat foods I like but I will have to work harder at keeping more healthier foods and the goodies lower. Since I need to eat less protein and I will have to figure out how to balance the carbs and fat. Plus I need to drink more water and sports drinks.

Hope we have a good nights sleep and get ready to get back to my exercises tomorrow.

Trish, do you remember back when I said I was having kidney issues? It started in the hospital when they gave me the dye then limited my water and I could not flush the dye out. My Bun went up and also my Creatinine and GFR. Part of it was caused by the Lasix, too. I don't know if that's why they took me off Lasix and put me on Bumex. I don't know what the difference is. I think it said online to keep protein intake around 30gm. I eat protein but I don't think I eat a lot. Vegetables are good because of the fiber. I'm sure you will figure this out. This is why I have decided to fast before all lab work not just when it says fasting. Last time I ate because they told me to always eat before cardiac rehab. Then I went for blood work afterwards.

Scale went up 1 lb today. I didn't pee much last night but I did take my fluid pill. I didn't sleep long, 6 hours or so,but Fitbit says it was good sleep. They take into consideration how long you sleep but also your heart rate, breathing and stages of sleep. And I'm sure its not perfect! Just like MFP is not perfect.

I didn't have eggs today. We went to Wal-Mart for my G, and when I came home it was noon so I made broccoli,,cheese and rice, a Knorr packet. DH had Dinty Moore beef stew. I think I want to use our Gift Card for Bob Evans for dinner. Its up to him.

Carol Sue Thanks for sharing your experience with me. That is what happened with me when I was in the hospital. I had 2 times when I took the dye and liquid was limited.

Weight was up today, but then I ate like a horse. I cooked spaghetti today and it was really good. BBL

I really like spaghetti even though it is high carb. Now I'm supposed to avoid the red sauce because of sodium. I cooked it so much when the kids were here DH is tired of it. He is tired of the red sauce. He often eats Pastaroni for lunch but is has a white sauce similar to alfredo. I sometimes get Eggplant parm at Rodneys because they serve it with angel hair. It is a huge portion so I bring it home for lunch the next day.q. I really do need to cut back on carbs.

I was just reading an article about the importance of eating dinner earlier. Like you do, and we do. For years I ate breakfast and lunch but no dinner. I was thin and healthy. It was after the kids moved out that DH wanted me to eat dinner with him. Thats when I gained all my weight. Even when DH was in the hospital I didn't eat dinner. I lost 15+ lbs and A1c was great. I would love it if DH quit eating dinner but it is major for him. He believes in 3 meals a day, small breakfast and lunch but bigger dinner. He asks me every day what we are having for dinner. I am going to look into this further. Both my step children eat dinner late. 7:30-8 pm.

Today I dropped a fluid pill in the kitchen and we had trouble finding it. I worry about Rusty finding it. When we have to give him a pill it is a struggle but we have to be very careful about things on the floor because we see him eating things from time to time. I gave up looking for the pill but DH found it.

Weight stayed at 173. Sleep was ok. Not great. Just had eggs and toast, sauteed mushrooms. My little avocados are getting ripe so I will start eating them. I had one last night. I want to make guac.

Lots of snow in surrounding areas but none here. Our temps are getting colder. I just want to stay home today, nice and warm.

When I was at Walmart I bought some La Choy Chicken Chose Mein so DH wants that for dinner. Quick and Easy. Yay!

Hi gang: reached up to 180 over the holidays.
I only went to to the pool twice over the holidays. Odd schedules and so many kids there, which is fine, since it was rainy and muddy, precluding outdoor activities. Better they be active and having fun, and not being destructive.
But school started yesterday and I went back to my regular schedule, so went yesterday and this am. I am getting back to normal eating. Getting the crap out of the house. Can do a good shop tomorrow after getting the fridge cleared out.
We are having spaghetti with red sauce tonight. DH will have regular spats, I am using spaghetti squash. I have cooked both already.
I put chicken in with the Classico sauce, so there will be lots of protein. I have the makings of a good salad for our early supper. I ate early yesterday and that worked well.

I hope you all had good holidays.
stayed healthy myself.

Mad, did you ever try Pesto sauce with spaghetti squash? I like it so much better than red sauce. I also use it with zoodles. I buy it in a little jar. If you have Aldi's they have a good one. It's never tried map by my own pesto. Its just so easy to just buy the jar.

We had our Chicken chow mein. It was good. I buy small cans of chicken to add because the chicken in it is almost non existing. Some times I cook chicken tenderloins to put in it.

I talked to a friend I haven't talked to in a while. She told me about some vitamins she and her hubby have been taking that might help with my energy. So I'm going to go back to taking my BComplex, Ocuvite, and Chromium Picolinate and might go back to my Sub lingual B12. They both take Airborne. He takes it because he drives school bus and is exposed to so much with the kids. He said all the bus drivers take it. She said he is a very healthy 80 year old. So I might try it. I have to get my energy back. I hate feeling so sluggish all the time.

Our temps are going to get very cold starting next week. I'm going to have to get my warmest clothes ready.

Sounds like we are all working at getting back to eating healthier and getting rid of the junk food. I've got my routine exercises down and I am wondering if my 1 hour exercises are making me hungrier. I have actually gotten so used to exercising that I actually look forward to doing them. I heard that could happen but never thought it would happen to me. However it has finally happened to me and hopefully eventually the hunger will settle down.

Carol Sue There was a time when DH and I moved from FL to SC that we would never eat anything after 3:30 PM. We would go to the church activities where they served food but we went to fellowship but wouldn't eat because the meetings were way past 3:30. I would love to eat that way again. Perhaps I can get back to that woe this year. Imagine, I was doing IF before I had ever heard that term which tells me that if I did it back then surely I can do it again. One of the tv churches I watch is getting ready to fast for a month in February so I might use their fast along with them to get myself back to eating again the way we did back then?

Mad What was decided about your knee replacement? Have I missed something? I hope it is getting better.

Trish, years ago when I lived alone in my apartment before I met DH I ate breakfast and lunch but no dinner. I never really liked dinner food, didnt know how to cook it and didn't want to cook it just for me. I knew if I didn't eat dinner I would lose weight. Thats when I was in the 125-130 weight range. Art tee we got married and the kids were young I would cook dinner for the kids and DH then I would sit and read the paper while they ate. I might eat some if there was anything left while I was cleaning up but that was rare. It was after the kids got married that DH wanted me to eat with him and that's when I gained all the weight, in my 30s and 40s. I developed heart disease and diabetes. Even now I would prefer not to eat dinner. When DH was in the hospital I didn't eat dinner. I used to eat his lunch in the hospital because he never wanted it so I ate it and it looked like he ate it. If they knew he wasn't eating it they would have forced him somehow. But dinner is important to him and every day he asks what we are having. He doesn't want most of the things I used to make. So we eat out a lot and we can each order what we want. I with would cook what he wants, but he won't tell me what to make. Yesterday was an exception when he saw that Chicken Chow Mein and told me he wanted it. I'm really surprised that he eats that. He likes things that can be prepared in 15 minutes. He doesn't want things that take a while to prepare. I don't know how some women get these husbands who will eat whatever is put in front of them. I grew up that Mom cooked and we ate it. No questions asked. The only thing I wouldn't eat was pan fried fish because it had bones in it. It was too hard to eat to avoid the bones. He also doesn't like casseroles. He wants his meat, potato and vegetable separate, not all mixed together. Casseroles are easier I think. He says casseroles are for women. His mother never cooked like that. In fact, I might make a casserole tonight. Chicken tenderloins with cream of chicken soup and potatoes on top. Tomorrow I will make sweet sausage in the slow cooker. Whatever day he wants to go to the casino we will go to the local one. Probably Thursday. Today the weather is going to be cold and blustery with rain and snow mixed.

I'm hoping to exercise today because I don't want to go anywhere. Exercise doesn't make me hungry, it usually curbs my apperite. I have heard that If exercise makes you hungry you are exercising too hard and burning the glucose you have on hand. I know I never exercise too hard!! I am never huffing and puffing and out of breath. I exercise at a gentle moderate pace.

My rings are vert tight today which means I'm retaining fluid. I hope I don't end up in the hospital.

I've been reading that sugar plays a big role in fluid retention

Lots of a interesting articles and videos. This explains a lot. This explains why I pee a lot when I eat low carb.

I can't get the other link to work but if you type in "Salt only retains fluid in the presence of sugar" you get other articles and videos by Dr Berg and others. I don't know why the link won't work.

It ended up before a successful trip to the casino. I won $500 on one machine and $300 on another. DH didn't win, so its a good thing he took me with him! Ha ha. And we got home in 20 minutes instead of 1 hour.

My rings are still tight but I'm ok so far.

Hope you are ok Trish.
