Carol Sue Congratulation on your DH winnings. Glad you slept well and woke up without pain.

I forgot about y'all getting fish sandwiches from Arby's. I just told DH today that when I get my hair cut that we will be near Arby's and could get a Ruebin Sandwich. I've never had a good fish sandwich that was takeout.

I've had a good day. I sleep to late to get everything done that I want to do before DH gets up. Speaking of DH. he has a 3D movie going and he gets upset if I don't watch it with him so I guess I will go watch it with him.

Trish, Arbys has 2 different fish sandwiches. Regular and Deluxe. We get the regular. They have tartar sauce and shredded lettuce. They are just ok. They are not as good as other fish sandwiches but they are better than McDonalds, and I used to like McDonalds fish sandwiches.. I love fish and I have never had a fish sandwich that I didn't like but some are better than others. The deluxe has cheese on it and is on a Hawaiian Bun. If
never had Arbys Reuben sandwich but I've had their original gyro and I like them. I know they are not the healthiest. For 2 for $6 the fish sandwich is good. That is a special price for during Lent. A. I think Wendys has a fish sandwiched h during Lent but I never had one from there.

The scale said 174 today. It still gives me an error message and tells me to try again but I accepted the first answer. Maybe the sensors need to be cleaned.

I think we are getting snow tomorrow. I should go to Wal-Mart and get a few things. I want Cheerios. I haven't had them for a few years but I like the off brand from Aldi's better. I need butter and a couple other things.

Carol Sue I am so ready for the weather to warm up. I hope we are past any chance of snow or extremely cold weather. I keep a box of off brand Cherrios on hand all the time. I get hungry for them sometimes for breakfast or night snack. I love them plain with just enough milk to leave the crunchy with a little bit of Stevia. They fed them to me in the hospital. I came home loving Cherrios, oatmeal and orange juice, I drank orange juice for a while but then it hurt my stomach so I don't drink it any more. I also love tomato juice and drink it from time to time. My latest favorite is quinoa. I keep it cooked in fridge and eat just a little bit to keep me from being too hungry. It only takes a few bites.

DH would only eat the Arby's sandwich with the fish and maybe the tartar sauce so that would be a waste of money even on sale. I'm controlling my sodium by eating it only at dinner and keeping it to a minimum the other meals. That way we can eat what we want for dinner and I eat just enough at the other 2 meals to satisfy my hunger without loads of calories or sodium. It seems to be working today. My calories were around 1300 today and sodium was less than 2100 mg. I will go on line and look up the Arby's menu and see which sandwich I like that is the better choice sodium and calorie wise.

Weight has been 156.6 for 2 days. I am feel like I am getting better. I am really hoping my lab work will be much better Tuesday.

The Pastor I wrote called me today. He said he got my letter and read it just as he was getting ready to leave his office. We had a good visit and I told him that I had never gone so long without a Pastor or home church. He told me that he will be my Pastor and the church will be my home church. He is adding us to his church and a lady will call me Monday to set me up in the system so I can be a part of those praying for the prayers people call in for us to pray over them. I am so excited to have a church DH and I can agree to go to together.

So I have had another good day. I feel like things are beginning to look up for me.

Goodnight!

Last night I typed out a post but it would not post. Then I closed out of the forum and tried to get back in and it wouldn't come up. I think it was a forum issue, not mine. Today my post isn't here.

Yesterday we went to the local casino. I didn't want to but you know how that goes. It ended up that I won a small jackpot and we came home with $1300. So maybe things are getting back to what they used to be. I still don't like that they don't have anywhere for me to sit to read. They sent me an email survey to see how I liked the casino and I told them I read while hubby gambles and they have no seating area, plus they have no where to get water or soft drinks. The other casino has them free. I think I could buy water at the bar.

Trish,do you still take Berberine and what kind. I might switch from Metformin. I just found out that my fluid pill interacts with Metformin and causes Lactic Acidosis. That could be why I'm tired and muscles hurt. Legs mostly but arms too. Hi am still investigaring.

I bought Great Value Crispy Oats (Cheerios). and ate some for lunch. I missed them! DH wanted me to get brand name. But I went with the cheap ones. They are fine.

I forgot to weigh today. I think it would be down. Maybe tomorrow.

_____________
I didnt feel like going out to eat but I would have gone. But DH said not if you don't feel well. He talked to his daughter and she ordered a fish sandwich and fries for him from the firehall. He ate that. I tasted it. It was ok but not great. At least he got something to eat.

I read about Berberine and I don't want to take that either. I think I will work harder at low carb and cut back to 2 Metformin a day. I usually take 1 at each meal and one at bedtime. I just hate how tired and run down I feel every day. I don't know for sure if I have lactic acidosis or what to do about it. Its always something.

Carol Sue I've used Berberine for years without any problems. We take another Blood Sugar pill with it but I think they must be going out of business because I can't get it anymore, but I don't think I'm going to replace it unless I absolutely have to. I will take what I have on hand and then see what happens if I go without it. DH and I are checking out some of our supplements to see what is in them because sometimes they have other things in them that I shouldn't be taking while still on any form of chemo.

I got my hair cut and it will be cute when it gets a little longer. My beautician chose the pixie cut and DH and I both like it. I'll make do till it gets long enough on the sides for me to fix on my own. She said Chemo puts metals in your hair so she did a treatment when she was washing to strip it of the metals and that even changed my color. It is a salt pepper color with beautiful highlights. I asked about coloring if I can't perm and she said "No you are not going to color it. It is a beautiful color". She said I can strip it and perm it. In the meantime, she is going to find me a new beautician and she said she will tell them how to treat my hair. Makes me feel so good about myself. I don't think I'm going to buy a wig. I'll dig out my curling irons and learn how to fix it like it is. She was surprised it didn't come back curly, but she said it is curly in the back and it is dark in the back. The front and sides are straight and highlights of gray and silver. She says as more grows in that it could still become curly but not sure.

We had the Rueben sandwich for lunch. It actually is one of the lower calories/sodium if you can trust their nutrition menu, but I think I like the French Dip Swiss Sandwich better which of course is more cals/sodium. However we don't eat them often so I don't think it will hurt us/me.

Carol Sue I am so sorry you have been feeling bad and didn't feel like eating. Try to remember that your body is still healing from your procedure. I was tired after my outing. I remembered that I am still healing and this was the first time for me to be out not going to a doctor or treatment. I didn't even do all my exercises. I thought about doing some tomorrow but you have to learn to work with your body because if you aren't careful, you can push it too hard or too fast. It is like we learned with diabetic diets, One Size does not fit all. Y'all are a lot busier than we are and I came home and ate and ended up sleeping. DH woke me up and said I had slept through to movies.

Hope we both have a good nights sleep. Good night.

Trish, I don't know how I found this out but my fluid pill should not be taken with Metformin. I think that's why I don't feel well, run down and achy. There is a long list of symptoms for lactic acidosis. I don't have most of them. I could call my doctor and get tested but I think the only remedy is to stop taking one of them. There were a few things about Berberine that I didn't like. Plus I don't pay for Metformin with my insurance and as far as I know I haven't had any problems with it. I take the max dose so maybe I can cut back. Im not sure why they took me off Lasix. There was a reason. These are just 2 meds I need. I don't see a doctor until June to discuss it. I will discuss it with the pharmacist but they can't change my meds. Another thing, my A1c went up and my reading have been up, and my fluid pill raises blood sugar. This is why its so important to be healthy so you don't need these meds. I think I am going to push myself to exercise even though I'm tired. It might help, and if its not good I can stop. No rule that I have to keep going.

We got several inches of snow overnight. They predicted 3-5 for us and 5-8 for south of us. It is very soft fluffy snow not wet and heavy.

The scale showed 178 this morning. Yikes. I wiped it off and reweighed and it was 176. Still high. Plus for some reason every time I weigh it tells me to weigh again. So there's some issue. I need to get out my other scale and try that one but I like this one because its rechargeable.I just charged it last week.

I want to cook chicken tenderloin casserole today. I cover them with cream of Chicken soup and frozen hash browns and bake. I saw woman on TV make it and she added a layer of Swiss cheese. I don't know if we would like that. . And I will cook a vegetable.

I wanted to run this by you. I saw recipes to make fudge with Velveeta cheese! Both chocolate and peanut butter fudge. I wonder how that would turn out? I might try it. It says it makes it creamy and it had good reviews. Velveeta is not a strong cheese. DH really likes it for mac and cheese but I add other cheeses, too.

_______________________

We ate and it was pretty good. I mixed sour cream with the cream of chicken soup and it was tasry. DH wanted it to get done faster so he made me turn the oven up and the chicken got overcooked. I hate when he does that! One of the reasons why I don't like to cook dinner anymore. The vegetables got done early so he wanted to start eating. I tell him to stay out of the kitchen and I will tell you when its ready. When we go out to eat I tell him to go back into their kitchen and ask them why your food isn't ready. He said he wishes he coyld. No wonder his first wife left him!! He has his good points but some bad ones, too.

Carol Sue Maybe you should find out from your doctor if you could go back to the Lasix if the new fluid pill is causing your blood sugar to go up.

I've never heard of making fudge with Velveeta. Might be good. I found some cream cheese in the freezer and opened it to eat with my 1/2 potato I ate today and it was pretty tasty. It was the only thing I had different that I ate today and I've had potty issues. I've decided that when I go to Walmart that I am going to get me some Lactaid pills and see if it helps because I might be sensitive to lactose. Sour cream mixed with chicken soup for chicken sounds good to but who knows if Mr. Picky would like it or not.

My goal is to work into getting myself ready to go to Walmart Tuesday after my Lab work. My new shoes came today but I was too tired to even open them. I want clean socks on when I try them on so will do it tomorrow. Catch you tomorrow.

Scale was 176 this morning. I have to do something about this.

Step daughter is making stuffed cabbage today. She never made it or even was here when I made it. I just told her how to do it. I don't know how hers will turn out. She already texted me a question. My sister in law taught me but she was here showing me step by step. I am so glad I learned that because I love them! She is really late getting started but they never eat dinner til 7 or 8 at night. Last night she called us and she was outside in the cold cooking on the grill at 7 oclock. My step son eats dinner late, too.

I loved the taste of the sour cream in the cream of chicken soup. I think I will do that all the time. But your DH might not eat it because he likes the cream of chicken soup. I like it too but I also liked them combined. If he likes the soup to be like gravy he might not like it.

My step daughter is Lactase intolerant but she was not when she was growing up. She used to get belly pains but not potty issues.

When I was in the hospital the first time, I had kidney issues. But that was because they were limiting my fluid so when they gave me the dye they would not let me have water to flush it out of my kidneys. My urine got very dark then I quit peeing. When they switched me to Bumex the nurse told me its not as hard on the kidneys. I would like to discuss this with my cardiologist face to face but I don't see him again until June. I have been having the dye since 2000, 24 years. They always stressed to me to drink lots of water to clear out the dye. They wouldn't listen to me. I went into the bathroom and got water from the sink. I should have done that more! I can't discuss this with my PCP because all he wants to do is write a new prescription.

Oh Carol, I am totally sympathetic. I have not weighed in a while.
I am really working hard at it now. My mantra is "I can do anything for 6 weeks."
I am eating low carb, not trying to fast except the TRE.
I have not weighed. My FBS is 6.1, so not as low as I would like.
My surgery is March 25. I want to have blood sugar in good control and will hope to lose weight if I stick to plan.
Every time I am tempted to carb food I remind myself.
Last night went to a social event and took veggies and dip. I did not have junk food.
I am not hungry but sometimes meal planning is a pain.
I have taken to googling low carb meals and choosing from what comes up. that helps a bit.
It's really nice that you and DH are winning again, but I hope it doesn't fuel his addiction.

Trish, I am very happy you have found a church and pastor you can enjoy. I know prayer and a church family are important to you, and you need it in your life.
I am glad your weight is stable and you are not regaining what you lost. I am sure your blood sugars must be pretty good now.

Have a good weekend friends.

Fatmad Glad to hear from you. I was wondering if you were able to get a surgery date. I know you will be glad to get it done and head toward healing. I hope you will able to reach the goals you have set for yourself for surgery.

Carol Sue Only one time in the hospital when they used the dye for my testing did they stress that I needed to be sure and drink plenty of water to flush it out of my system. I'm not sure if anyone else has done that or not. I do remember one doctor having me on limited liquids but haven't had that limit since then because they stress I stay hydrated. Now when I drink the dye for CT Scans, I make it a point to drink plenty of water to flush it out.

I am thinking the potty issues is caused from fat. I had DH get me a new jar of coconut oil to brush my teeth and I put a small amount in my 1st cup of coffee. Then I had him get me some beef jerky. I suddenly realized last night that the extra oil in the coffee and the spices in the jerky really caused me some problems. I will still try the Lactaid to see how that effects some of the lactose foods I like but have stopped eating. My baby sister is lactose intolerant but was not when growing up.

We are having boneless pork chops today. I'm trying to add some veggies into my woe too so will have French green beans. I notice DH is buying the low/no salt can goods. I want to go to Walmart and get a few can goods I like. I love green beans in any form and also Italian green beans. DH couldn't get the Italian at the local store, but I know Walmart sells them. We should go to Aldi's for can goods. They have great canned asparagus.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

I agree that Aldi has good canned goods. And Walmart, too. I buy mostly frozen veggies. My favorite green beans are frozen at Aldis. They are called Extra Fine Green Beans and they are long and thin. I still keep some canned cut green beans on hand. I like frozen peas but DH likes canned, and so does my grandson. Sometimes when they are visiting and he gets hungry mom will heat up a can of peas for him. He also likes green and red peppers cut in strips. He likes a lot of healthy foods. I hope he continues that way. DIL and her family are all healthy eaters. Her father is diabetic. He follows a strict diet. Her mother cooks a full meal for dinner every night.

The next time I get the dye I will make sure to stress to them that I need to flush the dye out. They will always limit my fluids because of the heart failure. The nurses see the limit fluids on my chart but don't take the dye into considerarion.

I made halushki with the second head of cabbage so it didn't go bad. DH wants me to make cabbage rolls next week.

Step daughter made stuffed cabbage rolls today. Her first time. She never saw me make them but I told her what to do. She said the cabbage kept tearing. It was not good cabbage for cabbage rolls. Both she and her hubby said they don't taste like mine. I don't know why they wouldn't but she is going to bring a couple tomorrow so I can try them. I think someone gave her this cabbage from their garden. It is fresh, so it cooks much faster than older cabbage. I usually buy cabbage from the local grocery. Their cabbage is very good for stuffed cabbage. It is just something you learn over time.

I ate a Reuben from a restaurant tonight and it made me sick. I feel a little queasy after eating it. I haven't had a Reuben in years!

I think I want to eat very low calorie for a couple days to get myself back into diet mode.

My weight was still 176 today but up to 176.8. I want to get back to eating more vegetables. I think that is a lot of my problem. I just learned that my fluid pill increases blood sugar so that's another thing I need to discuss with my doctor when I see him. So it increases my A1c and it also interacts with Metformin to cause lactic acidosis. Im falling apart!

Carol Sue If I don't do something, I'm going to gain weight too. My weight was157.4 this morning. So I need to start getting my act together too. I never did the fast with the other church I used to watch so maybe I will just start doing a fast for the next few weeks to see if I can get my eating under control. I will probably start doing the fast after my infusion next week. My infusion is on Feb 27th so I will start on the 28th. I will work toward eating 2MAD fasting 4 hrs between 3 and 7 pm. I do hope I can di this. I have lab work in the morning, then we will be going to Walmart. All my exercises were done today plus a few I had stopped a while back.

Right now I'm trying to drink plenty of water so I'm hydrated good tomorrow.

Scale continues upward. 177. I don't know what I'm going to do. Im supposed to contact the doctor because this is supposed to mean I'm retaining fluid. But I'm up 10 lbs since coming home from the hospital. I don't think its fluid. My legs /_feet aren't swollen. My rings aren't tight, but they also are not loose. If my hands are swollen its only slightly. I've had this belly problem for years since my bowel surgery so its hard to say if my belly is swollen. I've been worried sick about my blood sugar. Its been sky high. My fluid pill raises blood sugar and the metformin interacts with it. I know I need to talk to the doctor but getting an appointment with the cardiologist is close to impossible. Trish,I didn't hear of you having a blood sugar problem with Lasix. I don't know why they took me off it. They never really explained it to me except that this other one does the same thing. In the meantime I'm going to try very hard to eliminate sugar and carbs and also exercise to see if I can lower my blood sugar. Im very upset, but bun I can't discuss this with DH. He doesn't understand blood sugar. He's will tell me to stop taking the fluid pill. They started me off with 1 a day, so maybe I can cut back and see if that helps. I won't see the doctor until june . I don't know what will happen between now and June.

_______________

I read about Lasix and it says that I does raise blood sugar, but maybe not as much. I guess maybe all diuretics do that. I was reading about foods that lower blood sugar. One is oatmeal, but oatmeal raises my blood sugar but not a lot. I guess I will do the best I can until I can pick up my meds and talk to the pharmacist. They always say the pharmacist knows more about meds than the doctors do. I know they can't change my meds but maybe suggest something. My PCP is going to be shocked at my next A1c.

I had eggs today with one slice of SL toast. I sometimes buy the Nickles 35 but it is the same as SL Delightful. I have some protein shakes I bought so I can fall back on them. I don't know what I will have for dinner. But I will be sure to stay away from snacks that DH eats.

Hope everyone is doing well. And I hope your treatment goes well today. Do you still use the wheelchair or do you use your walker?
