I'm home. In a lot of pain but I have pain meds waiting to be picked up at pharmacy tomorrow. Will write more tomorrow.
Good night. |
Oh Trish, that seems odd that you have to pick up meds. When I picked up my neighbour from the hospital after the knee replacement, the hospital pharmacy came to the bedside with the meds. There was the pain pump with nerve block on the leg already, then several little pill bottles with anti-inflammatories, narcotic pain relievers, tylenol, blood thinners etc. Everything needed for the first week. The rest was faxed to the home pharmacy for refills once my neighbour was more mobile.
This is even more important now that pharmacies are supposed to get ID and see you in person to fill narcotics prescriptions. For my husband's dental surgery, we got the prescriptions for pain meds the day before surgery so we did not have to go in for the narcotics while he was in pain. I hope you were able to sleep with the pain, or that you had something to get you through the night. I am leaving soon to see DD and ask my travel questions. She is such an experienced world traveller so I think she is the expert I need. I am not fasting and losing the weight I wanted to, not sure going forward what my plan should be. Got my covid booster yesterday so I will be over any side effects and have the immune boost at full peak for my travels. Made a plan with the pharmacist to have all my meds ready to go. TTFN |
Trish, I am happy to hear from you but sorry you are in pain.
Mad, we haven't had prescription pain meds for awhile but I think I was able to pick them up for DH. We come home with just enough for a day or 2. It might be different between US and CA. I am celebrating today. Bedtime blood sugar was 85. Fasting morning blood sugar was 85. No dawn phenomenon. If only I can continue this eating pattern! |
One of my biggest fears happened today. I fell. I'm not sure but DH thinks I tripped over the bag of garbage he had ready to take out but I think it was out of my way. I was coming out of the kitchen with a full cup of coffee. I felt myself flying across the living room. Luckily I missed the tv and glass coffee table, going between them, landing on my left knee (the good knee) and smaking my head into my recliner. It took a long time to get up with DHs help. (I've fallen and I can't get up!). I feel fine now but might have pain tomorrow. Luckily I fell on carpet. He feels guilty for leaving the bag there so I'm milking it. I should probably get up and move today to limit the soreness tomorrow.
I didn't get on the scale today. We had spaghetti for dinner but I only ate 1 serving. Blood sugar went higher than its been but meds kept it reasonable. I am not going to stop eating carbs but I will limit them to occasionally. Trish, I hope you got your meds and are feeling better. I have heard that the recovery can be very painful. I hope you were able to sleep. __________________ My back is,starting to hurt. I took Tylenol Arthritis to try to head off any major problems. I don't think its anything serious, though. |
I only have slight ache in my arm and back today.
I think my weight is back over 180 today according to the balance beam scale. I don't know why. We went to the casino yesterday and I don't eat dinner when we go. I was under 1000 calories and 60 carbs. But my belly is bloated today so I don't know what is going on. I think I need to switch to all vegetables to shake things up. I am worried about you Trish. I hope you are ok. I pray for healing for you, sweet friend. |

Hi LadyBinger! Good to see you posting here. I will come over to the Accountability thread and check it out.

My new stove is being delivered tomorrow so today we are preparing. We will leave the old one on the back porch until the junk man can pick it up. Once he shuts the gas off I can't cook anything. No breakfast tomorrow morning. When we moved in 42 years ago we had no stove. It was a,weekend and it was being delivered Monday. We ate out all weekend! The very first day I dropped a spice bottle on it and chipped it!!
I think I'm back up to or over 180. Grrrrr!! |
Hi friends: up here on Manitoulin. Doing ok, but a few things affecting me now. My x-rays show severe arthritis in my knee. I will be getting in line for a knee replacement. There is a shortage of x-ray technicians so getting a bone scan may be difficult. I am going to call a hospital where I used to work and see if I can get in there.
I don't have a lot of pain and am still very mobile, but it can take a while to get the surgery. The price of free medicine is waitlist, LOL. Up here, the smell of smoke was bad for the first few days, but the air was clearer than in the city. Today was better, not as smelly. I am working on my goal of walking 5 km a day, not including around the house, but real walking, to be ready for my trip. I will be taking wraps and a light brace sleeve for the knee. Best wishes, will check in again soon. Hope to hear from Trish soon! |
Mad, both my knees are bad now. I don't want to have surgery, I've heard many bad things about it. I use brace sleeves on the right, none on the right so far. Rub it with cream, Australian Dream. I used to take HA and might take it again. I always think I won't live long enough to worry about it but I keep waking up each morning.
We have some haze from the fires. Warnings for air alerts, stay in, but no one listens. :hug:Trish. . |
How is the new stove Carol? We are really happy with the new BBQ and hope you are as pleased with your new appliance. It's a big investment.
I just had the best BLT I have had in 5 years. I tried the Schaar bread. And this little bags for toasting thing in when you don't have a GF toaster around. It all turned out well. Not good for weight control but made my mouth happy. Re knee surgery: I was speaking with a friend who is also quite worried about having surgery. I reminded her that limited mobility leads to increased obesity, heart problems and diabetes and all that comes from those. The rate of death over time is higher for people who don't have surgery. Just less obvious. Each of us must weigh the risks and rewards of a treatment, or not having the treatment, and the importance of the benefits to quality of life. I am only in my early sixties, so years ahead of limited mobility and pain is daunting. The knee is locking and clicking and hurts to do some things. I'm not doing that for the next 20 years. Trish, we are thinking of you and hope recovery is going ok. Blessings and light being sent to you. |
Mad, it might sound morbid for me to say I don't think I'll be around long enough to worry about knee surgery. And I'm not saying a hard No. I understand its, different for you at your age. Two people went thru horrible pain with knee surgery. One other breezed right thru.
 Hugs to you, Trish. |
I understand that Carol. as I said, we all come from different places in life, and one person's situation is different from another. That's why I want mine surgery now, so I can enjoy to better mobility and reduced pain now. And prevent myself from the complications of not doing it.
I am not doing well with eating. DH leaves overnight on Wednesday so I will fast then, less temptation here. Had good news about my taxes, and things are going ok in terms of preparation for my trip. Have a good day, and hugs to you Trish. |
I hope your trip goes as planned, Mad.
My weight was 178 today. Yay! I went for labs this morning and will get the results in a couple days. I'm hoping my A1c is down from December. It was 6.8. As usual, I had a high carb day today now that labs are done. I had oatmeal for breakfast, cheesecake for lunch and I'm having Chinese with white rice for dinner. Back to limiting carbs tomorrow. |
I am so excited! My A1c was 5.8. I worked very hard to keep my blood sugar down this past 6 months and I was successful. I have changed my eating and now I need to keep it up. My triglycerides are high so I need to fix that.
