Nothing new today. I pulled out some tops from the ones hanging in the laundry room to donate to Goodwill. Didn't even make a,dent. I'm going to have to go through them one more time. I also want to pack some away that I'm not sure about and I can decide later. I have to stop buying more clothes for awhile. I'm a compulsive clothes hog!

I have a feeling DH is going to want to go to the casino today and I don't feel like arguing.

I'm going to try to go back to the way I ate when thin and single. My body is used to the way I eat now and that could be effecting weight loss. I will eat 1 egg early, and another one at brunch instead of waiting and eating a bigger brunch. I'm back to liking eggs again but mostly fried, not scrambled. I started eating scrambled when I started eating out, because they don't know how to fry an egg to my liking. I have DH trained! But he cooks them in butter and I use cooking spray. I want to cut back on fat. No low fat products necessarily. I never buy low or fat free dressings or condiments, but I used to eat lean meats, and I want to go back to that. Just an idea.

We are going to the store for ground beef and potatoes.

I got my hair cut finally yesterday. My stylist was on vacation so I went to someone new. I asked for a trim, but my hair is now shorter than it's been in years! I don't know what she would have done if I asked for a cut. DH hates it. Luckily my hair grows fast. My head looks like a bowling ball.

Trish,I hope you're feeling good today and eating well.

Company is gone. They will head to Hot Spring, AK tomorrow. We enjoyed visiting with them. but I am tired. Now I will be getting ready to go to Austin Thursday for my surgery.

Wannabehealthy 05-29-2023 08:59 AM

Trish I am glad you enjoyed your company. I will be praying for you on Thursday and afterwards for your surgery and recovery. Put it in Gods hands. He will see you through.

I was up early this morning. 6:30. I cooked potatoes and eggs for potato salad,,chopped the celery and bit of onion, baked brownies for DGS, and was finished before 8 am. Luckily I work up feeling good with lots of energy. After the potatoes cool I will make the potato salad. In the meantime I will take a shower.

We had another lousy visit to the casino. I don't understand how he cannot get tired of losing all the time. I pray that he does.

Have a good holiday!

Nice day yesterday but I think I got sick from the potato salad. In the bathroom til 3:30 am so not much sleep. Everyone else said the potato salad was good.

I really enjoyed seeing DGS. Growing up so fast.

Scale stayed at 179. I guess the potato salad kept me from losing.

Miss you Trish. I'm a little worried.

pattygirl63 05-30-2023 03:13 PM

Carol Sue I'm sorry you got sick from the potato salad. Glad you had a good visit with family.

I'm still here. Just staying quiet. I've been sleeping a lot lately but not sure why. I can't believe that it is time for the surgery and I pray it goes well. DS says I will sleep a lot after surgery too. She had this surgery 30 yrs ago and said she slept a lot after while healing. Of course, they do things differently now a days so we will see how it goes. I'll just be glad to get it done and get on the other side of it. I am moving around more but legs are so heavy from the swelling that it is a chore to walk, but I do it any way.

DH is cooking pork chops today. Not sure what he is cooking with it.

I will write again tomorrow and then I won't write again until after I get back home from surgery. We have decided not to take our computers with us. I won't feel like being on the pc any way.

Have a nice day.

Wannabehealthy 05-30-2023 05:21 PM

Trish, my friend is also sleeping a lot after her surgeries. She sometimes takes a nap and goes to bed early. I know we won't hear from you for a while after surgery but I will be praying that all goes well and recovery is good.

hi everyone: I am home again for a few days. Can't believe my trip to Iceland is only a month away.
I was 173.5 today, so I will not get under 170 before the end of May, obviously.
But did not gain, so I will take it.
Will be thinking of you Trish, may everything go well.

Carol, I also went off scrambled eggs. DH likes them, so I have them occasionally, but have to smother them with Ketchup, LOL.
I am happy with omelettes though. how odd. I prefer fried or poached, and a bit runny. I agree the toast is important.
out to walk before the heat hits. Have a good day.

I am just barely holding below 180, by tenths of a pound but I am determined to continue downward.

My DIL has Parosmia from Covid. If you never heard of it, look it up. She cannot eat many things, they taste like garbage. No meat, no tomato or tomato sauce, no mayonaise, no eggs. This has gone on for over a year. Some people, like my step daughter thinks its a mental thing. I have no reason to not believe her. Now she thinks she is gluten sensitive. She has an itchy rash, and Celiac is in her family. One of the things she can eat is pasta but no tomato sauce. She does Alfredo or pesto sauce. She said she will buy gluten free. Because she is eating mostly carbs she is going to try GOLO with her mother. But GOLO includes a diet that is rather low carb so I don't know if it will work for her. I feel bad for her. Her husband is very big on grilling and he and grandson eat a lot of meat. I think she can eat chicken but not hot. It has to cool to room temperature. And she can eat fish. I think I would do that instead of all the carbs. I prefer chicken or fish over beef or pork and have for most of my life, but I am able to eat it.

There was a recent discussion on Twitter about ketchup on scrambled eggs. My Dad started me on that as a child. I also like ketchup on meatloaf, macaroni and cheese because of him. My mom got mad because he put ketchup on spaghetti!

Hugs to you, Trish!

fatmad 05-31-2023 09:32 PM

I like Ketchup on those things as well, and also potroast and beef stew. And of course burgers. Drives DH crazy, he was never a fan, except fries.
I hit a wall with all the cleaning today. All the windows and our front door were replaced while we were gone, we have to cover everything with plastic and move furniture before we left.
So I have gotten two rooms (our bedroom and the kitchen) and the front hall cleaned up. More tomorrow, but I could not do any more. When DH got home we did a bit, and I took Buddy for a short walk. I had not gotten around to making the stuff for supper, so we went out. DH was happy with his chicken parmesan, and I had a salad with Shrimp.
The salad was good, nice dressing, but over dressed. I could not quite finish it, so brought some home for tomorrow.
I know its only 930, but we are heading to bed.
Have a good night.

Wannabehealthy 05-31-2023 10:52 PM

Mad, I am in bed by 9:30 many nights. But I wake up around 5 am and usually can't fall back to sleep, so I get up and read. Its my quiet time until DH gets up around 9. I could do other things but we have a,small house and I don't want to make noise when he's still sleeping.

DH thinks ketchup on Mac and Cheese is strange. I've never known anyone else who does it. My grandson used to put ketchup on all his meat, even turkey on Thanksgiving. He's 14 now and I haven't really noticed him doing it anymore. His dad would kill him if he put it on steak!! He eats a wide variety of food now, even grilled salmon and sushi.

Tomorrow Trish has her surgery. My thoughts and prayers will be with her.

pattygirl63 05-31-2023 11:08 PM

The hospital called and they have moved my surgery up. We have to arrive by 8:40 am and surgery will be at 11:40 am instead of 2:30 pm. If all goes well, I should be able to come home Friday. I will check in as soon as I am back home and able too. We are going to bed early since we have to get up at 5 am and leave here by 6 am.

Wannabehealthy 06-01-2023 12:25 PM

Trish,I pray for a successful surgery for you. I am shocked that you may come home in one day. Things sure have changed!

Wannabehealthy 06-03-2023 09:15 AM

Yesterday I only ate when hungry and stopped when hunger stopped. As a result my calories and carbs were lower than usual. I only needed 1mg of G all day from a prescribed dose of 4 mg total throughout the day. I got on the scale expecting a drop but there was none. That's ok. I know weight is controlled by more than what and how much we eat. If I stay in this mode I will get result.

The most important part was how I felt. I had energy and felt happy. I was able to walk better even though I don't know what that has to do with it. I can't say I was hungry but I didn't feel stuffed like I sometimes do. I started to get sleepy but got up and moved and the sleepiness went away. I want to feel like this every day.

I'm learning to respond to DH with "No thank you" and "I'm not hungry.". " I'm not hungry" is as much for me as it is for him. It reminds me that I should only eat when hungry, when my body needs nutrients. I have made big changes to my compulsive over eating.

I bookmarked some articles I want to read about circadian rhythm and how it relates to eating. I think I'm finally getting to the root cause of my eating and weight issues. I used to hear about behavioral change and now I get it. What took so long? A lightbulb moment!

Trish,I hope your surgery went well and you are resting and on the mend.

Wannabehealthy 06-03-2023 11:33 AM

I read the articles about circadian and eating. There was a lot of technical information that I didn't understand. What I got out of it was that an earlier shorter eating window is better for older adults. Me. This is how I tend to eat. I've been having my first meal around 9 or 10, but I've been getting up at 5 or 6am, so I AM delaying my first meal. Dinner is usually at 3 or 4. Night snacking varies. I'm trying to keep it to a minimum so I go to bed on an empty stomach. I started taking magnesium again and sleeping better. I have another full bottle left but might switch to a different one after that one is gone.

Wannabehealthy 06-04-2023 01:37 PM

I hope you're,doing ok Trish.

I've been doing very well with my eating and blood sugar is really good, but no weight loss. I'm glad about the blood sugar but disappointed with the weight. But im not gaining! I didn't sleep well at all last night. Tossed and turned. I got up at 5 am, starving, so I cooked 1 egg and 1 piece of toast. 5 hours later at 10 am I still wasn't hungry. How could that small meal hold me for 5 + hours? I had some leftover pulled pork for lunch and now I don't want dinner. DH will want it though.
