Carol Sue That is great that you could get the chairs you wanted. And congratulations on the 45 minutes exercise.

I did good even with the chicken from the local place here in town. DH doesn't like it too much because we got tenders and it was dry to him. They gave us an extra one and DH only ate 2 and I ate 3 and put 2 left over in the freezer so I can cut it up in a salad. I ate within a 4 hr eating window and I did get hungry later but I didn't eat anything. I've got to get this night time eating under control whether I do an 8 hr eating window or a 4 hr.

Goodnight.

Wannabehealthy 10-27-2021 07:38 AM

How about a 6 hour window, Trish? Maybe eat a little more at your last meal. Or maybe save something from your last meal to eat as a snack later. That way you will be eating the same number of calories. There should be some way to resolve this. Or maybe in time your body will get used to the change.

This morning the scale rewarded me with a drop of 1 lb even to 188.2. It was fluid I was retaining. Know how I know? I've been peeing gallons the past 24 hours. I really struggled with evening eating myself but it was not from hunger. It was habit or boredom. I didn't need food.

Fitbit says I only slept 4.5 hours but its wrong. I had to put it on the charger and forgot to put it back on at bedtime so I missed an hour or so. I feel rested, but may need a nap later on.

My son in law is coming today after work to haul the chairs. This store does not have delivery. I hope they don't have any problems getting them in the house. This is another bad thing about living with stairs from the driveway to the porch. In our hilly area its hard to find a house with a level entry. Our old beat up chairs are comfortable. Maybe if the new chairs are not as comfortable I won't spend so much time in them.

Hi there, today will be a fasting day again. Hoping this ability to do alternate day fasting keeps going. Supper is the danger time, and I will see what DH decided to do for his meals. I may go for a walk while he cooks and eats his supper. I am doing better with having salt, pickle juice or broth as needed during the day to get through, and I am seeing success now. I hope I have found the right way to keep going and can lose 2 or more pounds a week. See about getting to Christmas this way.

Carol: I was never crazy about KFC either, but we do like rotisserie chicken. the supermarket chickens are pretty good, and it seems cheaper to buy them cooked rather than a small, two person roaster and cooking it. I am duly impressed with your exercise, and hope you can keep that up. Even the gentle exercise will do you so much good and help regulate the blood sugar.

Trish, your own version of IF is doing well for you, as long as you don't do OMAD all the time and get too used to that, it will keep working for you too. Its great to have your DH on board as well.

Have a good day everyone. Out to walk the dog,

I'm rather surprised that I had the 1 lb loss even though it was obviously a lot of fluid loss. I don't plan meals or calories. I usually track my first meal then look to see how many calories I have left for the day then plan dinner from that. MFP allows me 1200 and I usually come to 1100+ to allow for errors. Yesterday I had 1300+. That's not a lot, but more than usual. This tells me that my weight is not just based on how much I ate the day before.

DH relapsed and cooked breakfast without asking again. I was hungry so I ate it. 10:00 am, so not too far from the 11:00 am that I prefer. I'm thinking 10 AM might be better because that will leave a longer period between my first and second meals. We might eat early today, around 3 because step son will be coming and they will be busy for a while. I hope he also helps DH get the old chairs down to the basement. We can put them out for the garbage man but only 1 each week.

Mad, you are lucky that DH does his own thing for meals on the days you fast. That's one of the reasons I can't do longer fasts, but I don't think I even want to. I do know that its easier to not eat at all than to eat small amounts. That's why the small snacks they serve before meals are called appetizers, because they are meant to stimulate the appetite. My appetite seems to be always stimulated!

pattygirl63 10-27-2021 02:09 PM

Fatmad That is great that your DH does his own meals when you fast so you don’t have to cook. Good idea to take your walk so you aren’t tempted as well.

Carol Sue Glad you had the 1 lb loss. Down is down regardless of what it comes from. Glad you will get your chairs today. I always liked eating brunch at 10 am and have thought about going back to it. In fact, I've been thinking about how I ate and exercised when I lived in SC. I was losing weight back then pretty good. Everything seemed to change when I moved to TX and started eating out with family.

I think I need to go back to using the recumbant bike more than doing the strength exercises that I’m doing. I can still do some of the core exercises but the bike did my legs better than the other exercises seems to be doing. As for eating I ate breakfast around 10ish and our main meal was 3ish and then I ate a little something later in the evening. I could definitely work that into an IF eating window of 6 or 8 hrs.

Today I am fasting again until 3ish mainly because I forgot to eat breakfast. So I will have a 4 hr eating window again. Weight this morning was back down to 184.6 and I sure hope I can keep it going down. I would really like to be down to at leas 183 on November 1st. FBG is around 100 so it seems to like me having something in the evening as well.

I’ve got extra lean ground beef out to make us an individual meatloaf for dinner. I may just break mine up into my salad and add some veggie with it. My second meal ends up being more of a snack than a meal. I am not tracking but I did yesterday to just see how I did and I ended up with about 1200 calories. MFP shows that is how many calories I should be eating everyday too.

Hope everybody has a nice day.

Wannabehealthy 10-27-2021 06:40 PM

The chairs are here and mine is put together. You have to put the back on. We had a hard time so this was our practice chair. I guess we will do DHs tomorrow. It should be easier since we now know how to do it. The chairs are a little smaller than the old ones. Its ok for me but I think it's too small for DH but he says its ok. The seat is a bit higher and its firmer, much easier for me to get up out of it. I think the old ones were just broken down from constant use. I will be using the recline feature but not the lift feature. It raises you up very slowly. That's for in case we ever need it, which I hope not!!

My exercise today was moving furniture. We took the old chairs out through the dining groom out the sliding glass door. We will leave them on the deck til we put them . out for trash. They used a dolly to bring the new ones around back and in through the same way. We had to move the dining room table into the kitchen. Like moving day. I want to clean the dining room before we put the table back. What a day. I think we will just clean the couch instead of going through this again.

I haven't figured out how many calories I ate today but I finished around 2:30. I am hungry now but I will have tea.

pattygirl63 10-28-2021 02:16 AM

Carol Sue Glad you got your chairs and hope y'all will enjoy them. Hope you will be rewarded on the scale for not eating after 2:30.

I had another good eating day of 2 meals within 4 hrs eating window. I did laundry and ran dishwasher so stayed busy and didn't get hungry tonight. Hope that means I'm getting used to this woe. Tired so and fell asleep in my chair so now I guess I will move to the bed.

Goodnight.

fatmad 10-28-2021 08:08 AM

I am not sure having the eating window less than 5-6 hours is always helpful. Its hard to eat two good healthy meals in 4 hours without feeling hungry later. I felt like it was easier to do OMAD those days, but really whatever is working for you is good.
Today I was 158 after my fast, so I am seeing regular loss now, which I wasn't even a couple of weeks ago. Its hard to count on it, because I don't know what I am doing differently but happy its all working. I am going for a nice lunch out with some other retired midwife friends. I am driving an hour away to do this, but its exciting to visit with people in person. We have to show our vaccine passport to do that. So at least everyone in the restaurant is also vaccinated. Feels safer that way. I didn't want to be ravenous for that luncheon, so I have actually eaten an early breakfast today.
I had some Keto scones from the market on Saturday, so I toasted those and had them with peanut butter on them. I am very full, since my body doesn't usually eat at this time.

Out to walk the dog now, have a good day friends.

Wannabehealthy 10-28-2021 09:23 AM

I posted this morning but I think I forgot to hit post.

I'm down to 187.6, another .6 lb. For me, I think its the early eating window. I ate high calorie food yesterday, not healthy, over 1500 calories but stopped by 2:30. This seems to be what works for my body, and my wake up and bed time hours. I do want to get back to healthier food, though. It seems that I lose a few lbs then fall off the wagon. I think I get too sure of myself thinking I'm losing well. I need an attitude adjustment to stay committed.

We put DHs chair together this AM. It was easier because we learned by doing mine! They are higher. Easier to get out of. I'm pleased. The other one was a rocker. I miss that. I used to raise and lower my legs and make it rock. Good leg exercises. But I still can raise and lower my legs while sitting. Any movement is good I believe. I had to give up the rocker feature to get the lift feature. I hope we never need it but its there if we do.

Mad, the way I understand the vaccine, it keeps you from getting a severe case and needing hospitalization or dying. You can still get a mild case or asymptomatic case and can still spread it to others. It should make no difference if others are vaxed or not. My vaxed brother in law had it with no symptoms but had to isolate for 14 days.

Wannabehealthy 10-28-2021 01:22 PM

Sitting in the dealership waiting for an oil change then on to the casino. I don't plan on gambling today, just sitting and reading. I have plenty of reading material.

pattygirl63 10-28-2021 02:13 PM

Fatmad Congratulations on being under 160 again. I'm sure it will continue going down. Enjoy your time wih your midwife friends. Sounds like fun.

My body doesn't seem to like the 4 hr eating window all the time. In fact, I don't think it likes having to eat by the clock within any set time. It seems to change according to my hunger and what we are doing or having. Today I am working on a 6 hr window although I still tend to lean more toward eating when I am hungry and not eating when I'm not. I've experienced a few times where my time between dinner and supper/snack was wide enough that I ended up within more of an 8 hr window and once even 10. As a matter of fact, back when I cnecked my BS more often, my bs seemed to stay lower when I did more of a 5 hr window between 3 meals which would give me a 10 hr eating window. Since I really do not want to eat by the clock, I feel it is better for me to go by hunger so I've never tried the 10 hr eating window although I have read where some people do very well losing weight and controling bs doing even a 12:12 IF ratio.

Weight this morning was the same as yesterday 184.6. I am thankful for that. I seem to be losing about .5 a lb a month if I can keep this weight till the 1st. Still hoping to see a more stable 183 again soon.

This morning I decided to change up the exercises as I'm getting bored with what I'm doing. So I went back to using the recumbent bike. I will continue my core exercises I learned from DH therapy years ago in SC. I can still hear the girl saying if you don't take care of the core you are wasting your time with anything else. Not sure that is true but they do help my back. So my goal is to do them at least 4 days a week and maybe even 5. I don't want to use my house work as part of my exercise any more because it becomes an excuse not to do the bike however, I will still count my walking in the grocery stores in place of one day on the bike.

I decided to get serious today with what I'm eating. Since we have only almond milk now, I am going to change the way I eat and try to do moderately low carb and maybe even slow transition into more of a low carb way of eating. I had 2 boiled eggs and 2 slices of bacon and a banana for breakfast and a c of coffee with my collagen powder in it. Cod fish is for lunch and I'm not going to eat salad for a few days. I will just eat veggies. This evening I will have a snack of popcorn and or nuts. I am going to try to keep net carbs under 100 g and calories around 1200 or less.

Carol Sue Enjoy your time at the casino. Glad y'all like your new chairs. Our chairs are electric but don't have the lift feature. I too hope we will never have to have that either. That is why we exercise and try to stay active.

DS read something on her recent doctors report and saw she has something she had never seen on there. She couldn't pronounce it but it evidently is why she has back problems and difficulty walking without a walker. It sounded like some medical term similar to arthritis but sounded worse. I hope she doesn't give up on weight loss.

Oh BTW DH was going through some boxes we hadn't unpacked from SC move and found 2 gowns and a pair of new pants that I had bought and never even took the price tag off of. I washed them last night and I am wearing the pants now. I seem to remember having bought them and got home and couldn't wear them. It is exciting to be able to wear them now.

Have a great day everybody.

Wannabehealthy 10-28-2021 09:55 PM

I had a good day reading at the casino but DH didn't have a good day gambling. I ate a salad in the food court. When we ate, a couple our age started talking to us and they live in our town about 5 miles from us. Isn't that funny? The casino is an hour away!

I hope your sister is ok Trish. Maybe her condition is treatable. I'm surprised the doctor didn't discuss it with her.

I think whatever eating window that works for you is fine, but I understand what Mad said about not getting enough nutrients. 5 hours is good between meals.

The electric chairs are nice, but I'm used to just pushing the handle when I want to raise or lower the foot rest. I know I will get used to it. DH is lounging in his right now!

pattygirl63 10-29-2021 01:31 AM

Carol Sue It took me a while to get used to pushing the button to raise or lower my legs on my recliner because I was so used to having to do it manually. The only problem I have now is when we have storms and electricity goes off and the legs are up. Thankfully that doesn't happen too much any more so I guess that got enough transformers for our part of town now.

That is neat meeting someone from your town at the casino. Sorry DH had a bad casino day but good you had a good reading day.

I did very well with my eating today and ended up doing 6 hr eating window. Yes I understood what Fatmad was saying about nutrition. I could probably do the 10 hr eating wndow to eat meals 5 hrs apart but I don't like eating after 7 pm. In fact, I try not to eat that late at all.

Interesting thing today is that when I made my 100 calorie popcorn, I didn't want all of it. I may have to start making it myself either in air popper or microwave because I don't like it leftover and inded up having to throw half of it away. I plan my meals on MFP but I don't always eat all of the food so not sure how much I ate. I'm happy to say that I am doing better with my eating lately and hope I can keep it up.

Wannabehealthy 10-29-2021 09:03 AM

Weight is up .2 Not a problem! 187.8

A woman on the internet has an electric chair that broke. She can't find anyone to fix it. So that could be a problem, plus power outage. We don't get a lot of power outages. If there's a storm I will lower the footrest. I have had my CPap for 13 years. In that time power outage kept me from using it two times. Not bad.

DH pops popcorn on the stove. If there is extra I put it in a plastic zip lock bag. Its not bad the next day but I agree, freshly popped is best. We have it maybe twice a month. It is good fiber.

I think that anyone on a weight loss plan is not getting enough nutrients. Some people never eat vegetables or very few. Look at me, I eat very little fruit. Never did all my life. Just think about those who eat a junk food diet. If my brother in law can stay alive all this time the way he eats anyone can. But he is very overweight with lots of aches and pains and very poor digestive system. He won't listen when told its what he eats causing inflammation.

i will do some cleaning and reading today. I hope to get some exercise. I feel much better when I do it, especially the recumbent bike. Very different from the regular bike.

pattygirl63 10-29-2021 01:01 PM

Weight seems to be stuck at 184.6 right now. So just thankful I'm not gaining at this point.

Carol Sue We seldom at fruit when I was growing up. I don't think my parents liked it. Once in a while wh nen I was in elementary school they would get fresh apples from Washington state and every child got one and I have to say I enjoyed them. Then when I went to live with my aunt, she was a semi health nut and we ate fresh bananas, cantaloup etc and I fell in love with fruit. She was big on veggies too so I also learned to like greens during that time.

When we our area was a new and so many new houses were being built, our electricity would go out a lot whether it was stormy or not. Now that new houses are being built further down from us, we don't seem to have the problem that much any more. It used to be so bad that when I knew we might have bad whether I wouldn't make yogurt for fear the electricity would go off and ruin it. Thank God I don't have to worry about that any more.

They say things are bad all over but I tell you they are building new houses all over town. Especially out here in this little town. Of course we have so many people moving down here and they say houses are selling as fast as they go on the market. We are still getting new business here in Central TX.

Doing more of a low carb day today. Eggs, ham and real grated Parmessan cheese for breakfast. I will cook chicken wings in airfryer. I don't like my oven airfryer. I wish I had one like I used to have. This one is so messy to clean and the other one was soooo easy to clean. Might look at Walmart to see if I can get another like I had before. May give this to babysister and have her see which one of her kids might want it.

DS got her booster vax this mornng. So far she is doing good. They are giving the Pfiezer but DH and I are waiting to see how it goes. She said there were a lot of people getting them.

Have a great day everyone.
