I've had a good day too. I had a salad so will see how I do after eating it. So far so good. My eating window is turning into about a 6 hr eating window each day. It seems to be my new routine time. No long fasts but a fast none the less.
Carol Sue Good for you not eating the macaroni salad. We are going to Walmart tomorrow and I'm going to look for some more sugar free drinks that I can get to drink at night. It really does help having it to drink as it does keep me from getting hungry. |
Scale stayed the same today, 187.2. Losing recycled pounds is disheartening but I know if I continue this I will get to new pounds lost.
I have read so many articles that say we should eat a certain number of calories every day, but in most cases if I eat the number of calories they recommend I will not lose. If you eat more than your body needs it stores it as fat. Apparently my body is not using as much as some others, and its storing more. We are all different. I think over time our idea of the right amount of food has changed. Its hard to change because it gives you the feeling of being deprived but yesterday, about 20 minutes after finishing my meal I felt satisfied and forgot all about wanting more. So it DOES take that long for your body to get the message that it has had enough. Unfortunately after you lose weight your body needs fewer calories. I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. __________________________ I fasted for 19.5 hours or so. I was really hungry this morning but held my ground. Don't know what we will have for dinner but it will be in 4 hours. Its up to DH. If I cook it will be stuffed peppers. _________________________ Stuffed peppers for dinner. They were good. I made 1 big and 2 small. They only had 1 big pepper. DH ate the big one and I had a small one. I want to eat the last one but I won't. I am no longer hungry. I tasted some of the macaroni salad, 2 bites. It is so much better than it was yesterday. I HATE to throw it out but I CAN'T eat it!! This is a shame because some people in the world don't have enough to eat. This is really hard!! I did some cleaning and paid some bills. I talked to my step daughter and she is getting nervous about cooking her turkey. I told her I will come over in the morning to help her get the turkey in the oven. I am going to tell her what to do but she has to do it. She never helped me when she lived here to learn how to do it. She liked to sleep late. |
Carol Sue Sounds like you had a great day. That is sweet you going to help DSD start her turkey for Thanksgiving.
I would love 'tstuffed bell peppers but DH doesn't like it. DH#2 didn't like them either but I could cook them and he would eat the stuffing and leave the pepper for me. DH wouldn't do that. LOL I fasted until 3ish today making me a 21 hr fast. I had a 4 hr eating window today. Weight still at 181 this morning. We had KFC since we went to Sam's and Walmart. Calories today were a little over 1100. I have spent the day trying to decide whether to just stay with Medicare or switch to an Advantage plan that is with our doctor's office and local hospital. Our Part D insurance isn't going to be working with Walmart so I'm going to have to switch to another pharmacy. It turns out that the pharmacy I plan to switch will be the same whether we switch to the Advantage plan or not. The nice thing about the Advantage plan is that we will have dental insurance with it and the plan is offered by the hospital that we prefer and our doctor's office is connected with. I finally contacted the doctor's office and we are now on the list to get our vaccine booster. So it has been a very busy but productive day. |
My weight is up .4 to 187.6. I think I did well with food, but this happens. You are doing great, Trish, holding 181. My blood sugar is so much better. If I can keep this up my A1c should be greatly improved. I hope my triglycerides and kidney function improve also. 82 days or so til I get blood work again.
I Trish, we have an Advantage plan. I sometimes want to switch to someone else but the one I'm with is the biggest insurer in Pittsburgh and we have both had them most of our life. So far so good but many people are on other ones and like them. I never know what to do so I don't change. I used to go to CVS in Target but was paying a copay but then found out Wal-Mart was no charge. I get some meds from mail order and I like that, too. My step daughter is very nervous about cooking for Thanksgiving and I'm nervous for her. I don't think she even knows where to put the stuffing. And has no clue how long to cook it. I dn't think she was thinking about that when she invited people. These people don't realize she doesn't know what she's doing. I hope it all goes well for her. If there was no Covid we would be going. I think she figured we would change our minds but I'm afraid to take a chance. I am thinking that I could lose better if I ate under 1200 cals or 1000 as MFP requires. I know that low calorie is never acceptable in the medical community. But think about people who have Weight Loss Surgery. Their stomach is so tiny and can only hold ounces of food. And even though they don't get hungry they still have head hunger and appetite. I know if I only ate when hungry and stopped when satisfied I would not be eating very much. I rarely feel hungry. I eat because the food is enticing. Like the macaroni salad. I kept going back and eating a forkful until I finally had to dump it down the disposal. Many times I feel hungry but after 2 bites or so im not hungry anymore. But I still continue. eating. It has nothing to do with hunger. Can you imagine going somewhere like Texas Roadhouse and stopping after 2 bites? Wasting a $15 meal? Another thing. Often when I do get hungry it goes away without eating. Very often. It happened last night. I woke up hungry during the night. I would never get up to eat. Eventually I fell back to sleep and was no longer hungry. Its as if my body has an auxillary food tank. I forget what that's called but its our body's way of feeding us when we don't eat. It releases glucose and curbs the hunger. I need to read more about that. __________________________ Here's what I found. https://fastingplanet.com/when-do-hu...-when-fasting/ Interesting article. When I was on the medically controlled 5 day fast in the hospital I remember after the first 2 days my hunger disappeared, and they broke my fast with broth, Jello and pudding. I also remembering Dr Fung saying that if you can get through the first 2 days of an extended fast it gets easier. Its all controlled with hormones. |
Hi all: 157 today after my fast. I want to get this number down, so today I will work to be careful and stay low carb. Eating on Monday was too carb-y. I had some beets and a date square. So way too much that way. So today I will have the left over crustless quiche from supper that day (going keto for my supper did not work with having so many carbs early in the day) .
For supper we are going to order pizza from a new place. They have many kinds of crust, including a gluten free keto crust made with almond flour. I am going to give it a try and see how it goes. I have no plans at this time for other meals out, although DD wants to do something for her birthday. Its not until December 6th, but she wants a family gathering at the end of November since she will be away for her birthday. Its a bit of a milestone for all of us this year. DH turned 65 in July, I turned 60, DD will be 35 in December, and younger DD will be 30 in the spring. I did not sleep well last night, so DH has taken the dog out for his walk, I will do the afternoon round for him. Its hard to get going without a good sleep, so I am going to bed to watch the webinar this morning. maybe the droning will put me to sleep. LOL have a good day everyone |
Mad, I have a question for you as a Canadian. I think the US is the only country using the Imperial system rather than metric. Do you know both? You seem to. I tried to learn metric once but it was too confusing, although it is said to be easier. The only thing in the US that I know of that uses metric is races that use meters or kilometers. Or bottles of soda that come in 2L. They were quart bottles when I was a child. I wonder if there will come a time when US will teach metric in school.
Are cars in Canada metric? My brother once had an old Volkswagen that was metric and he never knew how fast he was going. |
Fatmad That is great that you are still 157 after eating the celebrations meals. You are doing great. I hope you are able to get some rest. The carby food that you aren't used too probably is what is contritute to the way you feel.
Not much happening today. I text DH DD this morning to as about HMOs because he worked for one when they moved back to FL years ago. So still in the process of trying to figure out what to do. It would be nice to have dental, hearing and eye coverage which we don't have now. Having to stay within the network for allt treatment is no problem because we do that without being in a HMO any way. Our doctor's office and the hospital we like is all in the same network and we go to whatever specialist our doc recommends any way. DD says we can try it for a year and if we don't like it that we can change back to what we are in next year in October when it opens up again. Weight was up 1 lb today but that is normal for KFC eating. Haven't been all that hungry today, but then my hunger seems to have settled down lately. I've upped my collagen to twice a day and I am taking the brand that I thought curbed my appetite. We will see if that is true. Found out some of my drinks I've been drinking tasted soooo good because they have calories even though either sugar free or no sugar added. So I won't be using them any more. I got some fruit teas that are 0 calories until you add the sugar or sweetener to it. Might be what slowed down my losing. Carol Sue I have a problem switching to metric as well. I am always having to ask DH to explain to me so I know how to relate to it. I think if we had to do it on a regular basis we would get it, but we don't have to so we don't. I am sleeping so much better these days. Doc prescribed the Lasix to be taken once a day and I couldn't remember if I took it yesterday since I'm not used to taking it. But I take it earlier enough that I don't have to get up to go to the bathroom durning the night so I am getting more sleep. My body loves this time change and I am usually ready to get up by at least 7 or 7:30. |
My weight is up .8. I overate yesterday. Only 1200 calories, which is not too many, but I ate when I wasn't hungry but just wanted things, the wrong things. I'm learning. I think my metabolism is badly damaged.
I am craving steak. I have one in the freezer and I think I will forgo my eggs today and have that steak for lunch before going to the casino. DH doesn't like steak that has been frozen. They are sold in packages of 3. I cook 2 for us when I buy them and freeze the extra one. We ordered a new coffee maker and it is to be delivered today by UPS. I hope it comes before we leave because I don't want it sitting on the porch all day. It is supposed to rain. We went to Wal-Mart yesterday because they had called about a prescription a few days ago. Last night they called again. Its a robot call so I don't know if its a new Rx or the same one. I take too many meds. I might switch a couple of them to mail order. It is so convenient to just get them in the mail. Mail order is also zero copay for most of my meds. Trish, I hope your drinks you are buying are working for you. I have various teas I have bought from time to time because I like something hot in the winter evenings and I don't drink coffee at night. I have some things to put in my water and I use them occasionally but usually drink my water plain. I can carry them in my purse in case I buy a bottle of water out somewhere. Hope everyone has a good day! |
HI friends: just under 159 today after my eating yesterday. I was careful to keep low carb. We ordered pizza, first time having a take out pizza since I found out I was celiac.
Its a new franchise that has several options for crusts, including 3 different GF (gluten free) crusts, so I ordered the Keto one. It was ok, a little moist, but might do better with re-heating. They explained their process for making GF pizza, so I felt pretty safe, and no reaction. Just nice to have the option. Yes, I am indeed pretty conversant with both imperial and metric. I was in grade 5 I think when they introduced the metric system into our school curriculum. So I had learned imperial pretty well at that point. Most people here who are older still use imperial weights, and have recipes in cups and teaspoons etc. So just like we have packaging with 2 languages (French and English) many things published here have imperial and metric. In Britain we laughed, they still had miles per hour for highway speed, where we are fully metric. But it won't bother me to see imperial. I keep my scale to pounds for sure. We watched the Remembrance Day service on television this year again. Last year the did not have people come to the cenotaph, and did reduced ceremonies, this year we could go, but I did not want to stand out in the cold, so we stayed home and watched the national service. My FIL was a vet, and my own father was too young to serve, but organized a local service in my home town at our local cenotaph. He is remembered for this in the local paper the last few years since he died. Others have now continued the tradition. Blessing to your families on this day as well. |
Mad, I downloaded 2 books on Kindle for learning the metric system. I would like to just understand enough if necessary. Occasionally I see recipes that call for grams instead of ounces and I have no clue.
I ate my steak for lunch. It really hit the spot. I guess my body is not getting enough protein etc. I could do that more often. |
Weight down to 180.8 this morning. Don't know if it will stay but it is nice to have seen it. I was busy this morning so no breakfast. Only coffee with collagen and an apple around noon.
Still don't know what we will do about the advantage plan. I called and our eye doctors aren't included in the HMO. Although he is in the network, he isn't in the HMO network plan so we would have to do the PPO plan to keep him and his son. So hard to change to a new doctor when you are use to the one you have and like them. Of course, we can keep our PCP either way so that means a lot to us. DH says that he has had his eye surgery so we can just get another eye doctor who is in the HMO plan. Now I need to talk to an agent to get some answers to a couple of questions that I have. We really want the othe benefits that are offered and the HMO is the best plan for those. I want to get that all finalized next week so I can forget about it. Fatmad It is nice that you have a takeout GF pizza to order. You are doing good. Mad Have a great day at the casino. I woke up early and got up so now I'm tired and sleepy. Hope it is as easy to get up tomorrow as it was today since I have a beauty appointment in the morning. Have a nice day. |
You are doing great to see 180, Trish! :cheer:
I know it's a lot to consider to change insurance. I pray that you make the best choice for you. Not a great day at the casino but that's how it goes. You can't win all the time. I am very tired. I,was actually dozing off on the ride home. So I'll just take my pills and go to bed. I am the opposite of you Trish. This time change in the fall is terrible for me and it takes me look it to get my sleep adjusted. |
I slept better last night, after I put a blanket on. Didn't wake up til 8 am. So maybe the colder weather was keeping me from sleeping well. Also my weight is back up to 189. I don't know. Guess I start over, AGAIN.
|
This is a quick flyby since I'm headed to beauty shop and store after.
Carol Sue I am sleeping better too and not having to nap much unless it is time for me to go to bed which helps because I head to bed about that time any way. Got up early ready to go this morning. Any way, my weight this morning is 179.6. I am so excited because I believe this is real. I'm eating much of what I want but only when hungry. I hope I can keep this up as I don't want to mess it up. Even DH is noticing and told me last night that I am looking good and he thinks I look better than I did when we were younger. He said keep taking the collagen because we both noticed that even my turkey neck is looking better. BBL |
179!!! :carrot: That's wonderful. I am so jealous  but really, you are doing so well on plan you deserve it! I can just imagine how much better you feel and can understand your DH telling you how good you look! I hope I can use this to inspire me to do better. I don't know what's wrong with me. :?:
