Morning everyone! I think I found something useful in keeping my bg down. Cinnamon! I had a teaspoon of it the last two days and my bg was 107 this morning. Everything else is same old same old...that is about the only difference.

NESIE: Thank you for sharing how this place has been helpful to you. We often forget there are tons of folks who just lurk, and who can be encouraged by what we share. I am so glad things are looking so much better for you! You are doing so awesome, and I know how good it must feel to see the progress you are making. I hope the bsl keeps dropping with your weight, and soon you can be all 'normal' !!

Cool

Hi, all. They've doing street work outside and jackhammers have been going all morning. Plus there's hammering on the roof over my desk. My nerves are jangled. Otherwise, not much happening at work today. Boss is out for the day.
Meowee - I had both my eyes done several years apart. The first eye was really bad because i had to wait for insurance to kick in before i could have the surgery. I remember how different my eye felt from the other one afterwards. But I could see and the colors were bright again. Once you get the other eye done you won't notice the difference. Glad your surgery went well.
Rosey - Hope you get some sleep soon. Not bored with puppy news yet. I get cravings for juice once in awhile. That was the first thing the nurse educator told me to avoid when I was first diagnosed with diabetes so I'm careful. Once in awhile I buy a bottle of pomegranate juice and have just a very small glass. It won't hurt once in a while but it's not good for us to do all the time or in large quantities.
I had a binge (meaning I had real meals) on Monday night and Tuesday. Then got back on the program. As of this morning, I've lost a few lbs. Hope that carries through to the Monday night weigh-in. Now have to survive the endless weekend.

Hi again, gang . . .

Great BGL GLEN . . . way to go, boyyo.

Oh Wow NESIE. . . So happy for you. Your post made me feel warm and fuzzy all over, girl.

Terrific MONET . . . Isn't it great to find something that tastes so good is actually good for you too?

Good Luck for the weekend, ROSETTA . . . I was thinking of that . . . when the other eye is done (and I can hardly wait), the difference will not be nearly as dramatic a change.

Both grandchildren and pets are given to us so we can spoil them, ROSEY. That was a great BGL, girl . . . keep up the good stuff.

Just got another of those little D:Life Newsletters and this one has a very interesting and informative quiz about our Kidneys . . . give it a try . . . http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowQuizPage?quizId=6 . . . ashamed to say, I only got 11 our of 14 right, hope you do better.

Have a great evening gang . . . see you tomorrow . . .

well, I got 12 out of 14... so about the same as the 2 of you.... I've had to have a kidney removed- not due to my diabetes though... weird/strange compilcations from kidney stones.... I kept developing scar tissue in the ureter (connects the kidney to the bladder)... every time they would try to open it up, I would develop more scar tissue... ended up losing function of the kidney.... so to take care of the pain etc, it was removed. My remaining kidney is doing fine!

Hey everyone! I have been busy in the 'garagio' today. That and taking care of the baby while my daugther slept. She had a flu bug...her hubby had it yesterday. They are better now, so hopefully our house is over it now.

I took that quiz on kidneys, and only missed one. It was the one on what percentage of function do you have to have...I picked 50% and it was actually 25%. Seemed like a trick question to me!

I need to go finish loading up the kiln.

hello all. I take 2 tsps of cinnamon every day, and it's making a big difference for me. My dr. suggested I try it, but he says that a lot of diabetics have to be careful because it can cause them to go too low (I don't have that problem yet!)
Well, I got great news today: I go back to work on Monday. I have been off work for a little more than 6 months, and I have missed my kids terribly. (I teach the A+ program at a Job Corps center.) I am a little nervous about how my body is going to hold up after being down and out for so long, but I truly feel like I am ready. Please keep me in your thoughts, because the Dr. says this is my last chance. If I end up in the hospital again, he's recommending permanent disability so it's really important that this works. I am 37 years old and can't stand the thought of being finished already. I'll keep reading everyday, and will keep you guys posted. Thanks so much just for being there.

Happy Saturday . . .

If today is half as nice as yesterday, it will be a beautiful one here in Atlantic Canada. We can hope, right? So far it is overcast and only 1C (34F). Yesterday was sunny and 12 (54) and it even had that wonderful Spring-like smell in the air.

Congratulations MONET . . . You are definitely the kidney-poll-winner so far. I agree that was a sneaky question; you had to be thinking 50% of one kidney.

You will definitely be in our thoughts, NESIE . . . Could you ask about doing 1/2 days or something for the first week or two?

REBA . . . Did you get the % of function question?

How about you, ROSEY . . .

Thought I'd found a great new cereal . . . WeightWatchers Fibre 'n Flakes . . . per half cup - 90 cals, 17 carb grams (9 fibre); 9 protein; 1 fat; sweetened with splenda . . . It tastes far too sweet to me. I'll probably finish the box, but won't be buying it again. I do not like anything sweeter than the natural taste of fruit for brekkie but thought I'd mention it in case somebody else might like to try it. I got it at WalMart.

Anyway, gang of mine . . . must get things moving and shaking around here. Hope you all have an absolutely wonderful day planned. See you soon.

Didn't get to weigh in this week. Don't think I lost anyway.
I did my first cradt show of the season. It was a total waste of time. I make doll clothes, ragdolls, baby quilts and bibs. Was in one of the classrooms,so we didn't get the main flow of traffic anyway. But from talking to some friends they didn't do that great either.
Next one is the third weekend of April.

Hi gang . . . Happy Sunday to all . . .

Well I finally got a decent night's sleep - didn't get up until 6:30 this morning - and the IV-induced WWW has finally dropped off, so I'm back to my ticker-weight. Now . . . if I can just stay awake and stop nibbling, things would just about be back to normal (or as close to normal as I ever get ) BGL was 4.9 (88) this morning so at least that's running fairly 'normal for me'.

The sun is out this afternoon, but it is definitely cooler than yesterday. Hopefully it will warm up a bit again tomorrow. Nothing else is new or different on my horizon. I've not even been feeling very crafty of late; but I hope your next sale goes better than this one did, JUDY. I'm sure things will pick up soon.

Have a great moving and shaking rest of the weekend, gang . . . see you soon.
