  • Hi, all. Well, the weigh-in went well. Ten lbs. officially down. Now I'm only 20 lbs away from my tracker weight loss, which I posted a year ago. I celebrated the loss by having wine and a tuna sandwich. Will have to be strict the rest of the week to lose whatever I put on plus. Also rewarded myself with a bottle of perfume I've been wanting. I've pretty much given up most of my younger femmy habits (like makeup), but perfume is one thing I do love.
Meowee and Jeanne - I'd gladly trade our spring weather for your winter. For me, warmer weather means the corporate A/C problems. Had to make them turn it off last night. It's really frustrating that they don't live up to their agreement.
Rosey - I've been getting up earlier this week too. That's because when the weather's sunny there seems to be more street and neighbor activity that wakes me up. I'm a late sleeper. Not looking forward to the early daylight savings time. Hope your new puppy is easily trained.
  • Hello! My bg was awful this morning. I was so disappointed! I have tried to be very careful today about what I ate, and getting all my meds taken. We shall see what it is in the morning. I am baby sitting all night, while my daughter and son in law are off by themselves for the night. I probably will not sleep well, as I will be listening out for the baby all night.

I had to ship the controller and foot pedal from my wheel out to the company in California that will repair it. Then I found out, after paying $15 to ship the box, that my wheel is an older model and has to have a $300 conversion kit! Ack! The guy is supposed to call me to discuss it tomorrow. It sure would be nice if they gave it to me, or gave me a discount. Like THAT is going to happen! haha!

    Take care everyone!
  • Good Morning from Atlantic Canada . . .

Boy oh boy; Spring has definitely not Sprung around here. Those hairy frogs are shivering in their boots this morning. It's -21C (-6F) at the moment. At least the sun is shining. Hard to believe we are changing to DST this weekend. Think some of us are going to have to refer to this as "Snowboarding Forward" or something along those lines.

Hi GLEN . . . Thanks, I'll take a look at the Betty Crocker site. . . I know the Kraft site has lots and lots of valuable information for diabetics.

Hi JEANNE . . . Great to see you, Chickie and glad to hear you are doing well. I haven't tried those veggies yet. Thanks for the tip.

Hi ROSEY . . . At least I know (or imagine, anyway) that you're another one who is not exactly welcoming Spring yet. I'm on the waiting list for a mini poodle, but the mom isn't even preggers yet, so it will be a while.

Hi ROSETTA . . . Good for you, girl. Hang in there and keep beating those pounds off. I really don't like Summer, either. But Spring and Fall, I just love -- 'Sweater Weather' is my cup of tea -- definitely NOT "Sweating Weather".

Hi MONET . . . Oh wow . . . hope you at least get a nice discount. 'Planned Obsolesence' seems to built into everything these days. Keep fighting the good fight with the BGL, girl. Have you spoken to the doctor about it . . . maybe that 'Lizard Spit' isn't your 'thing' after all?

That said . . .my BGL was 6.8 (122) this morning. Still within normal limits but pretty high for me. Sometimes there is just no figuring it out. Maybe I slept through a hypo; maybe it's just the cold weather . . . I know I was freezing when I woke up. Hey at least the FFM was good to me and I got to kick another pound to the curb. Yippee.

No great plans for today . . . just trying to stay warm. Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of day. Just keep doing the good stuff as much as you can and the rewards will evenually follow. See you later, gang.

  • Hey all. Sorry I haven't checked in lately. I've gotten pretty busy. I work 7am-3pm And as the weather has been beautiful lately (60-75 degrees Fairenheit) I've been spending quite a bit of time outside with my 2 boys ages 2 and almost 5 (1 month away).

Easter is almost here and that means my nemisis, Cadbury Caramel Eggs, are. Although, surprisingly, they seem almost too sweet this year. This is definately a good thing as it means I don't want to sit and eat a dozen of them at a time.

I've walked at break every work day now for 6 work days straight and am starting to trade my Dr. Pepper for the diet version and more water. Yesterday, I managed only 20 oz. of soda and 80 oz. of water.

That's about it for me for now. It's very encouraging for me to be able to peek in here and read about everyone's progress. It definately helps me to feel like I can suceede to!!!
  • Good Morning, Gang . . .

Another cold, but sunny morning here in Atlantic Canada . . . Wow, I am sooooo ready for Spring. Oh well, it will eventually show up . . . and then, before long, we will be complaining about summer's heat and humidity again.

Nothing too big on my agenda for today. Thought I'd be doing another run to the Vet, but it will be tomorrow afternoon instead of today. So nothing to do but the normal junk today. My BGL is much better this morning at a more normal (for me) 4.3 (77). Actually yesterday finished up pretty good too at 5.3 (95). Hope the rest of you are reading well, too.

KITTY . . . Glad to see you Chickie. Know exactly what you mean about those Cadbury Eggs . . . I'm staying clear of them just as long as I can. Will I make it right through until they disappear again? Time will tell. Glad to hear you're making some headway on the troublesome little habits. Keep doing the good stuff, girl. You WILL succeed.

ROSEY . . . Wow, your puppy is almost with you. Bet you are excited. You reminded me that I must get my haircut; I've gotten way beyond shaggy. My puppy will probably be a fairly large "toy". The Mother is about 10 lbs and the father about 7 lbs. So the pups usually come out somewhere between. Eventually, we will find out, I guess.

Better get about my bits of business. My morning has totally disappeared and I've accomplished nothing. Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of day today. I'll see you again soon,

  • Hey everyone! Last night after dinner, we went to Home Depot and did a bit of walking around looking for a few things. I came home and was covering a board with canvas to use in the 'garagio' when I started to feel 'funny'. I checked my bg and it was 46! I was shocked at how low it was. At bed time, it was up to 85, and of course it was 135 this morning. I just can't seem to get it into the target range in the morning anymore.

My friend from up north in the mountains came and spent the day today. We had a lot of fun running around to pottery supply places...

ROSEY: Nothing worse than a cranky hubby. Sorry, but you are going to have to keep him!

JEANNE: I love those steam in the bag veggies too!

MEOWEE: I am jealous of your bg numbers...how sick is that?
  • Good Morning, gang . . .

The sun is shining, but once again it is bitterly cold. Wish I didn't have to go out. Oh well, cold and sunny is definitely better than cold and cloudy . BGL is 5.2 (94) this morning. Still good, but I really prefer the high 4's (80-90 range) because I seem to go up over the course of the day; so the better I start the better I finish.

JEANNE . . . Hang in there, girl. You can make it through the 'goody-fest'. Just keep remembering the good BGL reading and how much you'd like to continue with those under 100 numbers.

ROSEY . . . Sorry you've had a bad day; especially when it was brought on by a cranky DH. Hope today is better. When I hear stories like yours, it makes me glad that I live alone; although that too, has its drawbacks.

MONET . . . Thought it sounded like you could use a double this morning. I know how upset I get when my BGL seems to decide on a roller-coaster routine for a little while. I think I mentioned it before, but perhaps you need to talk to your doctor about changing up your meds. Could it be an interaction between the Byetta and your thyroid meds? BTW, I envy you the nice weather you are having right now.

Anyway, gang -- keep things moving and shaking just as much as you can today -- see you soon.
  • it's sunny here. rosey give him a kick in the butt.
    glen
  • Hi GLEN . . . Love it when a man, tells another guy he's being an idiot.

    BTW, boy, we've revived our Candian support thread. Hope you'll be a regular over there . . . here's a link . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106341 . . . look forward to seeing you there, soon.
  • Oh crap! I just never seem to get time to post in here! I guess I should because I keep forgetting to test my BGL in the morning. Yesterday I had coffee, got doing tidying for my cleaning lady and felt weird by 10:30. Sure enough, I was 3.5(63) and realized I hadn't eaten. It was probably 6(108) something when I got up. I need to smarten up!

I'll try to post more often and get to know you folks better.

For those of us in deep cold, spring is definitely going to come. We will be above freezing starting tomorrow and the robins are back in New Jersey. Next will be NJ asparagus.

Have a great TGIF and be brave, Meowee, and tackle the weather. We ARE Canadians!
  • RUTH . . . Smarten up!

My BGL will plummet (and then, sometimes, jump) if I do anything more than make coffee and feed the cats before I test. Start a new habit -- (1) put coffee on (2) open door for dogs (3) test BGL (4) post results on Dieting with Diabetes (5) open door for dogs - the return (6) resume old schedule at this point.

    See you tomorrow . . . And don't forget, http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106341
  • Meowee, I just moved my testing stuff to my desk. I log on first thing every morning and will test then after letting the dogs out. Duh! Why don't I think of this myself. It must be brain rot!
