Love it RUTH . . . we all just get into our own litte grooves sometimes and it just takes a simple little comment to break us out of it . . .

Speaking of simple little thoughts . . . Just looking at my e:mail on the way out the door and saw this little gem from the latest D:Life bulletin . . . something to keep in mind . . . http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowCo...d_washing.html . . . I've certainly never thought of it.

Hello World . . . it's Saturday afternoon . . . and things around here are all quiet as is the usual way for the weekend. Just thought I'd pop in to see if anything was happening . . .I've been having a pretty quiet day myself.

Hope Daisy is getting settled in . . . ROSEY . . . And that the almost-Las Vegas weekend is going great.

My BGL was up in the 7's this morning and then, to make matters worse, I totally forgot to take my 10:00 am insulin . . . something I seem to to a couple of times a week, as a matter of fact. Didn't even think about it until almost 2:00 pm and by then it is way too late.

Well, hope everybody is having a great moving and shaking time out there. I'll drop in tomorrow to see if anything is happening.

Happy Sunday Morning . . .

Seems even quieter than normal around here this weekend . . . I definitely seem to be talking to myself.

Also notice that this little time change is quite haphazard. My computer didn't make the automatic change; 3FC didn't make the automatic change; the local TVGuide channel didn't make it; but the Weather station did; and the local radio station managed. I've seen a few news blubs this morning, from both US and Canadian stations that have their visible time-stamp still on Standard. This is shaping up to be more fun than that infamous Y2K fiasco that never quite materialized.

Anyway, gang . . . hope you are having a really fun weekend wherever (and whenever) you are. Have a great moving and shaking kind of day and I'll hope to see you all tomorrow.

My computer made the change but I had to go into my 3FC profile and make the change. I also turned off the "automatic" DST thingie because I'm sure it will kick in and change the time again on the first Sunday in April!

As promised, I am checking in with BGL - 6.8 (122.4) this morning which is up a bit from my usual 6.0(108). Indian food last night may have done it!

It's going to be a wonderful mild and sunny day today. I hope to get all the snow off my back deck this week so the Girls and I can loaf in the sunshine. Bring on Spring!

Hi guys! I've been really busy lately, so I've only been keeping up by reading the threads. I lost 4 more pounds at last week's weigh-in, but I'm worried about tomorrow's weigh-in. Things are so hectic here. My daughter turned 13 in December, and it seems like she became possessed at exactly the same time. I tolerated her tantrums much better during the so-called "terrible" two's. We just aren't as close anymore, and I really miss our relationship. I certainly would love to know that we will connect again. She's been losing weight, too-she's down 12 pounds. I had hoped it would help her attitude (by increasing her self-confidence), but no such luck, yet. She's name-calling (me and everybody else), cursing, not turning in homework, getting in trouble at school--and this is all brand new behavior for her. Her teachers tell me it's normal, but I am really concerned. She was very disrespectful tonight and punched the wall--all because she thought she should get to stay up until her "real" bedtime. It's not her fault the idiot's changed the time. I'm sorry to rant, but I am avoiding eating everything that is not tied down.
Rosie, I am jealous because of your little dog (and your winnings, lol). Meowee, I love to read about your life. I don't know where you're from, but I imagine you're living a city life. Ruth, it sounds like we appreciate the same things in life. Glen, I think you're probably the smartest man on the web. Your posts are full of wisdom, short & to the point. Thanks for letting me rant, and sharing your lives with me.

Okay . . . it's Monday . . . OMG, you have no idea how much I hate time changes . . . my body/mind reaction is always way out of proportion to the actual event.

Yesterday afternoon, I couldn't stay awake and my BGL really bottomed out at 2.9 (52); then last night, I couldn't go to sleep and about 2 am, I decided NSA ice cream would help . . . it didn't. Finally got about 3 hours sleep and was up again and raring to go at 5:30 with a BGL of 4.7 (85) . . . wonder what happens next? Oh well, I usually settle down in about a week. Right . . . if you guessed that I don't travel well either. I think I'm the reason they coined the phrase jet-lag . . . one or two time zones and I'm useless for 3 days.

Anyway . . . it's fairly mild, still hanging in there at just about the freezing mark (hit +8C/46F yesterday) right now. Hope the sun comes out soon.

RUTH . . . Please ship that great weather this way, ASAP. Seems like the new location of the testing supplies is working so far. I never seem to forget that morning test . . . but sometimes I have trouble remembering my 10 am insulin shot?

GLEN . . . Keep getting those good BGL readings, boy. How's the Toronto weather?

ROSEY . . . Do you ever lose, girl? Glad you had such a great weekend. Enjoy Daisy . . . just like our kids, they grow up sooooooo fast.

NESIE . . . Oh those wonderful teenage years. I only had boys, so my memories are different, but just as aggravating. Trust me, you'll both live through it. She will think you are incredibly stupid for the next 5 or 6 years and then, you will suddenly smarten up again . Hang in there . . . this too will pass. BTW . . . I live in a little town of about 4000 . . . actually just about everywhere in Nova Scotia (except Halifax) is what I (having been born and raised in Toronto) would call 'rural'.

Anyway . . . I think I'll get myself dressed and out for an early 'mall-crawl' today. Hope you have great moving and shaking good times today, gang. I'll see you all later.

Quick good morning. I'm still up in weight and am insisting it's the swelling in my knee. BGL was a good solid 5.9 this morning. Now I am going to eat breakfast before it gets forgotten ans Monday unfurls! It feels like a bran buds, blueberries and skim milk morning.

Cool

Hi, all. Have had a frustrating few days. My office upgraded our computers (from Windows NT97) to the latest. Change is sometimes good but it is also frustrating having to learn the new ways and figure out the new Word so I can do my work! Was so stressed Friday night I bought a bottle of wine and blew my fast. Oh, well. The good side is the computer is faster and everything works better. Plus I can download more games!
The weather has warmed up here (75 today) which unfortunately means the A/C menace is back. They had that thing on all day Saturday! Plus the landlord is making trouble. All this makes me so depressed and I have a hard time no turning to food for comfort. The time change hasn't helped either. Hopefully my weigh-in tonite will show some loss as I have been good most of the time.
Some of you have problems forgetting to test your blood sugar in the a.m. I keep one of my meters at my desk at work and take it before I have my first sip of tea. On the weekends I do it while my tea kettle's on the boil. My doctor wants me to take it at other times of day and I have difficulty with that as I eat irregularly and it just slips my mind. I have my computer programmed to remind me to take my after lunch pill though because I'm always forgetting that.
Rosey - Daisy sounds wonderful. Glad you had a wonderful Vegas weekend.
Nesie - sorry about your teenager problems. My mother hit menopause when I hit puberty - you can imagine how those years went. Wel'll both have to try not to let our frustrations sabotage our weight loss.
Glen - lay off the beer -- or have it once a week as a treat.

Good Morning, Gang . . .

Spring has still not Sprung here . . . but I do think it is getting closer . . . the snow is almost all gone and there are definitely a few green shoots mixed in with the brown of my lawn.

Definitely the knee, RUTH. Just keep doing the good stuff, girl.

That's for sure, GLEN. Less beer will definitely keep the BGL readings in better shape.

Good to see you, JEANNE. All that extra exercise definitely accounts for that hypo; glad you mostly had fun, though.

Oh wow, ROSEY. Your place must be really fun with both the grandson and a new puppy. Kids and puppies are such a perfect team.

Sounds like you will really enjoy the new computer software when things settle down a bit, ROSETTA. Too bad about the A/C and the landlord- .I really got a kick imagining the horrors of you in puberty and your Mother in menopause. Hope the weigh-in went well.

Nothing too exciting for me . . . have to run to the store for a few things I forgot. Spent the early hours of today, re-reading some of the recipes in one of my cookbooks . . . Volumetrics Food Plan . . . some good sounding stuff in there. Anyway, everybody . . . keep on doing the good stuff like moving and shaking your way on down the bumpy road to better health and fitness. See you soon . . .
