Hello to all. I'm a newbie here and found this site by accident ( I think God had his hands on me finding this site ). I've been struggling this past week. Today I found that I have a sever sinus infection that is causing me to have a lot of trouble reading ( everything gets fuzzy and my eyes are constantly watering ). My doctor has me on a medication that is making me get tired very easily, will give a week to see if that changes if not I'm telling him to get me on different a different med. My bs level for the past week as been between 165 and 180. Right now my bs level is 145 and that's two hours after eating. It doesn't help when my BF's dad is wanting sweets all the time. I've been lucky to find a bf that is supporting me. My doctor is proud of my weight loss and that my sugars are staying below 200, that he has allowed me to take one day out of every month to go a little crazy. And the day I've choosen to go a little crazy on this month is my daughter's 8th birthday ( 3/30 ). I'm going to pig out on taco's and have a little bit bigger piece of her b-day cake then back to the business of lossing the weight and getting my bs back to a normal level for good. I know where to go now if I need more support and to make some new friends. I'm glad that I found this site and I'm sticking to it like glue.

Hi gang . . .

I'm back and I have two functioning eyes . . . but they are not functioning as a set. The 'new' one now sees better than it has in almost 50 years, but the 'old' one still needs its glasses. Don't imagine I'll have true binocular vision again until sometime in mid-May (after the other eye is done too). In the meantime, I'm all lop-sided.

My eating is a bit out of sync today, too -- and my BGL is weird, also -- none of it too surprising and I'm sure I'll get settled back into the good stuff in a day or so.

LINDA . . . So glad to have you joining us. It's a long and bumpy road but together we can get there, girl. I know you will love it here. I also read your other post about your BF's Dad . . . feel free to vent on us all you want, Chickie. You've been doing well so far, getting your BGL under control and I'm sure you realize that stress has a very negative impact on BGL. Too bad the old-guy is so about it - you'd think he would know better.

Well gang, I'd better get going again . . the glaring from the 'puter screen is starting to give me a head-ache . . . Hope everybody has a great moving and shaking kind of evening . . . see you soon . . .

Hi GLEN . . . I'm here . . . it's been a busy day for me . . . had to go to the hospital again this morning (just a little check-up on the eye) and then do a little shopping and I was kind of at the mercy of someone else because I wasn't allowed to drive until after the check-up. Anyway, the surgeon was very pleased with his handiwork. I'm still feeling lopsided and although I certainly can't say I have any pain, I definitely know that eye is there, if you know what I mean. My BGL is still a bit erratic, but I imagine it will settle down soon. I'm trying to up my protein for the next few days to help my body heal the eye.

Hey, where are the rest of you? Please come out and play with us, we get lonely.

Hope everybody is having a good one. Keep things mov9ing and shaking, gang. . . see you later . . .

Hi ROSEY . . . Speaking for myself, I never get tired of hearing about pets.

IMHO, I think you should try to avoid juice . . . especially fruit juice. Eat the whole fruit instead . . . I don't know about apples in particular, but I do know that one 8 glass of OJ (unsweetned) contains the same amount of sugar (natural fructose) as eating 6 oranges. You also miss out on most of the healthy fibre content, too. Personally, I'd much rather eat the oranges anyway.

How has your day been?

Mine has been good... I'm tired this evening, but not as much as the other days this week.

I worked 1/2 a day today because I had a dr appointment in Dothan. The surgeon has released me. He said that I will still have days that I want to come home and stretch out on the couch... he said no horses or motorcycles for a while and to watch lifting for another week or so. Basically, he said if I feel like doing something, do it. If it hurts, stop... if I'm hesitant to do do something, wait and don't do it...

Oh gee . . . phooey . . .

Finally found the time to to check out the cat food recall list. Sure enough, all four varieties of Special Kitty foil pouches that I've got in the house are on the list and I imagine the four varieties they had already eaten before I heard about the recall were there too. So far no symptoms . . . Purrecious has thrown up a couple of times, but she is definitely not lethargic; Jazz, bless his little heart, is kind of lethargic from the diabetes anyway, but no changes in his other 'habits'; Mouse only eats dry food anyway. If any of you have missed it, here is a link to the recall information . . . http://www.menufoods.com/recall/index.html . . .

Other than the above, my day is going fairly good so far. The sun is actually coming out and the temperature is supposed to get all the way up to 11C (52F) today. BGL was a respectable 4.7 (85) first thing this morning. Unfortunately I still have the 4 lbs of WWW. Guess I'd better get used to the problem because I have so much surgery (and therefore interveinous fluid) in my Spring schedule. Also, my calories have been a little higher than normal the past couple of days (1800 vs 1600) because I'm trying to increase my protein a little to help the eye heal as quickly as possible.

Good to see you, REBA . . . take it easy and just follow the instructions . . . boy nice to hear a doctor that gives good common-sense advice.

Well gang, I'd better get a move one . . . need to make a couple more stops around the boards and then I'm off to WalMart to throw this contaminated food back at them. Keep things moving and shaking everybody . . . see you again soon . . .

Hello all. Things have been so busy lately, I've barely had time to read the threads each morning. I am keeping up though. I am glad to hear you are all doing so well. I love the puppy stories.
After being on South Beach, Phase 1 for a little over 2 months, my total weight loss is now 46 lbs. My bsl are between 150-200, and I haven't taken a shot in almost 2 months! Now, after being off work for more than 6 months, it looks like I am going back to work next week. I am so thrilled. My focus now is to keep my lungs healthy, so I don't have to go back on the steroids. My bsl averaged 400 from February '06 - December '06, even with 5 shots a day and all three oral meds. I feel as if I've won a lottery or something. This site means so much to me, because all this time that I've been off work recovering, I have read about your lives everyday, and I learned that there are people dealing with this who manage to live normal, healthy, interesting lives. Thanks so much for all the encouragement, and remember that even if all of us aren't writing everyday, there are many of us who read your posts every day, who count on you to prove that there is hope for a normal life. BTW, I am 1 size away from leaving the Plus Size section of the store! Never thought that would ever happen.
Have a great day, all!
