Holly
Thank you for the very kind words. I appreciate them. The fear and hurt re: my mother's health is way too pervasive. Sorry they are taking way too long fixing your bike. Hopefully Monday. Its supposed to be 80 in Burlington... I think. Sorry the seedlings died in a couple of weeks it will be officially safe to plant. This whole lime tic thing is cramping my style. I heard on the news that VT now has the second highest rate of lime tics in the country. I will not use chemicals on my skin. I plan to ask a local herbalist if there is anything to prevent tics from attaching. Although I doubt it. She has horses and has been bitten many times by tics. I call mosquitos and tics "vampire bugs"

Hi to everyone

I signed up for some kind of a very large group healing thing taking place on May 28th. There are recommended pre-requisites. One of which is No sugar 3 weeks prior So, I am bidding a fond farewell to sugar. Except in my Trader Joe's version of Barbecue popchips. I have my limits in addictions I am willing to give up giving up cocoa powder was a miracle. I will be okay with giving up other processed sugar. Will be a challenge. But I have done it before. And its a good thing to do. Just don't ever expect me to give up decaf

I hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday. I am going to work in the garden. Making things pretty. Pat

Hi ladies,

I'll try to come back and post personals soon. I'm still feeling quiet.

I fell in the kitchen today. I slipped on water and went down for the count. Not my finest moment.

I'm ok. Well see how I feel tomorrow.

Hello friends!

Lisa sorry to hear you slipped and fell! are you bruised?? glad nothing broke!! kitchen floors are hard! Hope you aren't too black n blue tomorrow!

Pat - THREE WEEKS WITHOUT SUGAR I applaud you! I jumped the gun (as I always do!) and planted today. My deck container pots AND stuff in the ground. Please pray for them I KNOW our safe date is Memorial Day but I just couldn't wait!! What did you do in the garden today?? do tell love to talk gardening. My husband grew from seeds - pansies, petunias, nastiumsiums, squash (Blue Hubbard and Boston Marrow), pumpkins, morning glories, hollyhocks (something new for us) and zinnias (again something new) and tomatoes and sunflowers. Got all but the tomatoes and morning glories either in planters or in the ground.

I had the best day today!!! slept normally, got up, 3 cups coffee worked out for 40 minutes, went to town and bought alot of potting soil and dehydrated manure (not the Moo doo brand though, lol) and a few more bedding plants, came back, unloaded it all and started potting it all up. Then stuff in the ground. For 4 hours then our older son came over with a plate of promised deviled eggs, love those! we had dinner and dessert and then I went back outside to plant some more! stayed outside til almost 9 pm . It was SO lovely!!! soft breeze, the stars coming out, our solar lights twinkling, the green green lawn, stuff coming up to help fill in the bare spots (thousands of ordinary orange day lilies but they are so pretty!) I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR

Goodness sake, flower,

I'm diabetic and even I have not given up sugar. No thanks. LOL You are more woman than I am.

Oh gosh.....tics......*shudder* if Vermont rates that high in tics, spray me down with chemicals. LOL I'm a wuss.

I am sorry about your mother, flower. Watching our parents struggle with their health is beyond painful. If there is anything we can do, just ask.

Lisa so glad that you are able to now watch TV. Sometimes I just keep it on to keep me company. Try to watch happy or funny shows. Re Iron supplements, I was just reading on fb that a bunch of people were needing iron. Hope your iron levels are soon back up to normal

Hi to everyone else

Today was an emotional day. My mother does not want to eat. She no longer has working taste buds due to age. Being stubborn and does not eat or drink enough to keep her alive. BUT she is very clear that she wants to live. Just the most stubborn human being I have ever met.

A few days ago she ended up going in ambulance to hospital. They kept her for 2 days. Her MD is very attentive and had previously prescribed antidepressants as an appetite stimulant. And maybe because of depression as well, although he would never tell her that. She was in complete resistance re taking them. She despises depression, anxiety or any psychological conditions. She is tough as nails. Finally she took one tonight. But she told me that she is not supposed to drink and take the pills. oops, my mother is an alcoholic. no drinking? that would be so hard for her at her age. No wonder she resisted the pills

I feel bad for her. Since her son, my brother died she started drinking again. I would fall apart if something happened to her. I am way too close to her emotionally. As odd as that sounds, considering she is so hard on me.

So I have not been doing well at all. Weepy, fear etc. No husb. No kids. father died 38 years ago. A surviving brother who has big anger issues. And is the height of intolerance. Especially toward my mother and me. I try to avoid communication with him. When we talk I just tell him everything is excellent. She is really it for me. Alone in the world. So I have not been great. Trying to keep the food in check Friday. Thursday was frighteningly fattening
Thank you for listening to my all too verbose tale of woe, lol.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. Pat ♥
I know your name is Pat but I'm still going to call you, flower cause well, I love flowers.

Mothers can be stubborn, mine did not take very good care of herself. My sister always said, "you talk to her. You are her favorite." She would get UTI's constantly and not go to the Dr. She passed in 2016. I miss her but she's not sick and struggling now.

Post here when you need us. We're always here.

Holly,

I'm still not myself but I am improving. I'm still taking my iron pills religiously.

I cancelled my PT appt, today. My right knee is grinding, after my fall yesterday. I rescheduled for Thursday. I'm ok but not sure if I need to see the ortho again.

Lisa - thanks for the movie and TV recommendations! I love it when it's bedtime for me, i get into bed with my Kindle and watch a movie or something.
Oh, it was bad to hear you say your knee was grinding sounds painful!! and we hope you feel more like yourself NOW

Flower/Pat wow was it warm yesterday!! we do need some rain though. I would love it if Mother Nature decided to just rain softly and thoroughly at night, then nice sun during the day I don't ask for much, do I

HI to everyone else

I went to the Tech center yesterday to see what's up with my bike, she was up on a lift with no front tire the mechanic said that he didn't trust patching it, and had ordered a new tire for me. I trust his judgement, but he should have asked me first. Whatev <---- that's me being mature and cool about it, lol. I am waiting for the dirt road to work to be a little better shape anyway, before riding to work.

I am still a teeny apprehensive about the new chef but I think he realizes that I just 'do my thing' . On my to-do list at work today - bake 100 servings of White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake ( for tomorrow night's dessert) make the raspberry sauce to go with said dessert, bake a big coffeecake, figure out some gluten-free desserts for a celiac guest.

Hi everyone,
I haven’t been posting lately and not fully caught up on everyone’s updates-
However I did have some good ups past weekend and today, which helps a bit with my mood.
Still struggling though.
Anyway, I just took some meds and watching some youtube video of someone’s vacation trip /review, and it was entertaining and relaxing- until my screen popped a message from my ex fiancé.

I last saw him in Feb, and last heard from him 2 months ago after he sent a text saying he can’t see me anymore. That was all he wrote and I didn’t bother to reply. Now tonight out of the blue he texts me to ask how I have been. I don’t want to reply. He had responsibilities and chose to abandon me instead of upholding to try to fix problems he caused to my life. Things are not the greatest for me but past couple days have had some ups- he doesn’t deserve the piece of mind to know that I am managing at the moment despite everything.

Hello everyone,
I’m caught up on everything between avoiding sugar and making cheesecake. Ironically I drink coffee without any sweeteners but I ate 2 pink snow ball cakes as a meal today. I tend to avoid drinking too much sugar or eating sugary meats (sauces?) but don’t have as much of an issue with giving in at times to sugar in a dessert.

Lisa I am sorry to read about your fall. I am going to try to find the suggested movie.

I am soooo glad that several weeks ago I took some to me to schedule upcoming days off. Because not only has it since become very busy again but also now someone in my dept left the company. So I would have felt guilty requesting time off. I have every right to take my time off, but requesting it ahead of time feels better than requesting it after knowing we are short staffed.

This month seems to be flying by.

Flower - I've been sugar free (except for the week I was abroad) since January. It's not that bad now. People have come up with all sort of ways to cheat at sugar free dessert now - like avocado chocolate mousse! I tried "nice-cream" and energy balls, which were good. I did cave and eat a little chorizo (which has sugar) and I've used a little maple syrup to make some salad dressing (but sugar doesn't count if it's on salad ). Hope you manage alright for your retreat!

I'm really sorry your mom is so poorly just now I know a lot of of people eventually reach an age where they give up on food - too much hassle, unless it's a cream cake! But I hope she'll find some new foods that suit her and it will help her perk up a bit.

Lisa - how is your knee doing after your fall? That sounds super painful! I hope you're ok!

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot recently, I've just been a bit short on time. I'm working a bit later than usual, and having to spend a long time cooking and meal prepping when I get home. I don't have much down time after all that, and not much to report in with anyway! Unless I talk food

Holly - so glad the warm weather has finally reached you! We've been pretty blessed ourselves recently, it's so lovely seeing all the green coming through now. Let's hope it keeps up!

Well I hope your new tire comes quickly! You've been way too long without your bike, and it's wasting all your good bike riding weather! But I guess it's more time for gardening

I'd really love a garden, so I'll remember where to come for tips when we finally get one! We only have a tiny balcony just now, and everything I grow gets infested with green fly/aphids, I've about given up trying to grow anything

Panda - I'm so sorry your ex disrupted your week like that! I think sometimes exes like to tease us along, but it's not fair on you to have him blowing hot and cold like this. Do you think you'll respond? I would completely understand if you chose not to - your energy is better spent continuing the fantastic life changes you've been working on!

Hope you have a great few days off - so you have anything planned?
