  • AAAHHH!!!! Back from my trip to the spa, and feeling refreshed.....

Had a hard time waking up this morning. I was feeling sorry for myself last night and stayed up until 2 in the morning playing "heroes' on the computer.

FINALLY got the propane tank mess cleared up!!! It wasn't me, I'm not crazy, 2 of the tanks at the store were ALSO screwed up!!!!

    Jennifa-Welcome!!!

    Mrs. M-How are you?

    Leens-Hope you can post today!!!

Ellis-I started tracking yesterday. That site Ruth gave us is GREAT!!!

DS#2 came home from school yesterday very upset. Some kid got him in trouble in Math class, and was bending his fingers backwards the whole time that he was telling lies to the teacher, and the teacher didn't even notice. I HATE THAT PLACE!!! The only good thing to come out of it is that they are being separated. We were going to talk to the teacher, but our son was afraid that would only make things worse!!!
  • Oh my I am so sleepy. And I've been wearing my contacts for an unheard-of length of time, and I think they're glued to my eyeballs.

Den, are you alright? You sound a little iffy. You went to the spa!?!?! Holy petolies, you lucky girl! What did they do to you? I don't know what I was thinking... after my 30km bike ride, there were volunteers giving massages. There was no line-up, but I was too uneasy to get one. I'm ready for one right now.
Listen, I can't find the goll-darned art museum thingy, but I'll keep looking while I'm burning the others. And do you have Traitor's Gate? I just noticed that it'll run on a mac. Let me know and I'll send it, too.
Yeah, that site from Ruth IS great. Unfortunately, I'm in constant need of someone with a whip at my back.
I'm so sorry about your son. That's terrible! Why don't you talk to the teacher, anyway? I know how your son feels, but I don't think it's wrong to "tattle" anymore... not with all the bullying crap going on at schools. And if my child were bullying someone else, I'd want to KNOW about it.

So, should we change the name of this thread to the C-section Legends or the Sexy C-sections, or something? How bizarre. Just think... 75 years ago, we'd all have died in childbirth. How thrilling.
MrsM, isn't the hospital dreadful? The only thing I liked was the wholewheat toast. And those darned nurses kept waking me up at 5 AM to take my bloodpressure!
Leens, you got cheesecake in hospital?!?!?

I figure since joining this site last month I've gained a pound and a half. Get out the whips.

I'm going to bed. I'm reading the most pathetic book. I could read the same paragraph every night, and just conk right out.

    take care darlings...
    ellis
  • Ellis-I am a bit iffy right now. Don't know why, since things are BASICALLY okay. I was joking about the spa (can't afford it!!). I had a nice hot bath instead......but a sexy man did come in and wash my back for me!!!!
Speaking of whom...that may be why I am feeling a bit down. He is off for the summer unless we get any last minute calls for him to teach a class, so money will be VERY tight. AND we are trying to keep savings intact so we can afford to buy a car in the fall. And we are waiting to see if he got an interview for a full time position at a local college. I am the main source of income for the summer, which is pretty dismal!! Don't worry about the museum thingy silly!!! I appreciate anything you can send, and I DO NOT have Traitor's Gate-sounds like fun!!!

I remember having an awful ham dinner in hospital when #2 was born. The reason It is a GOOD memory, is that #1 was sitting on the bed sharing with me!!! I took chocolates to the hospital so I could give him treats when he came to visit. #1 is now exhibiting signs of a mustache!!! I can't believe how quickly they grow up!!! I know it is a cliche, but it is still true!!!

Leens-Is the boss there today? I hope that you can get away and come play with us!! I'm having another slow start today. I should be working, but i wanted to check in first. The problem with setting my own hours is that I am NOT a very motivated person!!!

Mrs. M-I hope you are still with us!!! We miss you when you are gone.
  • Hi Ladies,
Sorry i have been gone for a couple of days. I had some things i had to take care of but those are now done and things are getting back to normal. I'm doing well and today i'm finally coming out of my funk!!

In the few days that i've been away i've made some decisions. I'm going to take a more hands on approch to my health and am going to start MAKING more time for myself and my family. Hubby and i just purchased a brand new Camper (Today) and are going to give camping a try. We both grew up in the county and love being close to nature. Of all the Dr's i've seen they all have told me to reduce my stress level. Well we're hoping that by being able to get away atleast once a month as a family without anyone to disturb us that we all will be able to relax and destress. When i'm under a lot of stress my down days are a lot more frequent. I hope this makes sense.

Today i also started back on WW. I do the program on my own so i won't have meetings for support but i did it once before i can do it again. So any of you out there on WW I made need a little advice once in a while.

Well i better get to work so i can earn some money to pay for that new camper. Everyone have an AWSOME DAY!!!
    MrsM
  • I'm about to eat a Whopper with cheese and some fries. Don't try and stop me. I'll talk to you tomorrow. burp.
  • WOW!!! You are up LATE Ellis!!! Hope everything is going okay. Why are you eating a Whopper, and why this late? Is it dinner or a midnight food run?
I used to get hubby to go out and get me/us fries or ice cream. I feel like I ate a lot today, but when I put it all down on Fitday I came up under 1200 calories for the day!!! I think some of their calorie estimates are low though!!!

Mrs. M-Sounds like you have been making some great decisions!! I wish we had a camper too!! We go tent camping, and LAST time we went it poured, and the tent leaked!!! Imagine DH and myself trying to put a tarp over the tent in total darkness!! It was raining so hard that the TARP was filling with water, and I had to keep on pushing up to get it to empty out!!! I was afraid the whole roof was going to cave in!! The kids slept through ALL of it!!

    Leens-WHERE ARE YOU????
  • hi ho

Why oh why did I eat that Whopper last night? My DH had to work a 1 - 9 pm shift yesterday, so by the time he got home, we were looking for something to make us feel good.
You know, I just don't look good in fat. My eyes look like two currents in a bun.

MrsM, I'm glad you're out of your funk. You've got the right attitude about your health... good for you! You'll have fun camping. It IS nice to be away from the phone and people you don't want to see. It's amazing how all the little extras can really get to you, isn't it? I spent last weekend at my parents' place doing some work for them, and this weekend I'm going back to refinish their hardwood floors. My parents are darlings, and they're so good to me, but all I want to do is stay home with my family. And this morning when I dropped my son off at school, another mother (who complains to me every morning about her problems) suggested that we get together sometimes in the mornings. Curses. The morning is my only free time to myself, and naturally I was too polite to deny her the dubious pleasure of my company. You know, we women just have to start saying NO to people.

Leens, are you alright? Is the dragon lady breathing down your neck again? Tell her it's recess time. Will you take holidays this summer? If so, what will you do? Is everyone going camping? My husband loves camping, but I'm pretty content just going up to my parents cottage. It's rough enough... no phone (a blessing except in emergencies), no running water, and an outhouse. But very lovely, nature-wise.
We usually camp at least once, though. We go with DH's sister and her girlfriend. My sister-in-law is such a riot that I don't even notice the little discomforts of camping.
Den, I can totally relate to your story... we have a tent, too. It's about 12 years old now, and starting to look VERY bedraggled next to all the young people with their trendy camping gear. We have to put a tarp on top of it now to keep out the rain. You were smart to get a camper, MrsM. You won't regret it, we assure you!!

Den, I'm making pretty good time with those cds, but I've got to pick up a few more blanks... Traitors Gate has 4 cds, and they require bigger than usual blanks. I'll definitely have them mailed out by mid-next week. I hope they run okay. I'm just dying for you to have a new game. I want everyone to be happy happy happy.
Oh, that's such a lovely story about sharing your horrible ham. I'll never forget my daughter coming to see me in the hospital for the first time after having my son. She was 6 1/2, and always looked like such a baby, but when she came into the room, suddenly she looked huge!! It was a little sad.
I hope that things work out money-wise for you for the summer. I know the experience all too well. We've had to borrow money from my parents to fix up our income apartment this summer. (which is why I am very willingly working on THEIR house). They would give it to us, but I hate being "given" money. There are too many ties.

Listen girls, what do you say we have a spa at MY house? We could kick my family downstairs for a week, and we'd have the whole attic to ourselves including kitchen and bathroom. We could make homemade beauty preparations, give massages, go for brisk walks in the morning, perhaps some yoga in the afternoon in my big sunny bedroom, we'd pick up all fresh fruits and vegetables for our meals and watch movies at night while eating low-fat dip with vegetables. Sounds pretty good, huh? I figure we could lose 5 pounds each, have a holiday, and get onto a healthy lifestyle all at once. Okay, next summer? Come on... it would be a riot.

Sorry... long-winded today... all I can think about is sanding those goll-darned floors. I'm going to reserve next weekend for ME!!

    Take care, darlings...

  • HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Ellis-I know what you mean about those other moms. I used to run into that too. It seems like there is less of it when the kids start middle school. Now I can also tell people that I'm behind at work and I can't!!!! You give up your weekend to your parents, which is understandable, but then you can't even have your Friday!!! There is nothing WORSE than spending what little free time you have listening to someone complain all the time. It is one thing when you can comiserate, but listening to someone ***** about nothing is REALLY irritating. GRRR....

It is strange when you have those moments when the kids all of a sudden look HUGE, isn't it? My Mom took DS #1 to England with her last summer, and when I first saw my son coming out of customs when they got back I was in shock!!! He looked like a young man! (He also spoke with an English accent for 2 months after that, but that is another story!!)

I wish we lived closer together. I think your idea of getting together is a great one. We have to put up with people we can't stand, and then when we meet people we like, we are too far apart to meet!!! I was looking at an Atlas a few days ago, and you are even further away than I thought. it also made me realize WHY I thought DS#2 was stopping in Montreal. That is where I stopped on the way back from Quebec when I was in 8th grade. And whatever I did is what my KIDS do!!! (brain fart!! )

Well......better get going. Leens and Mrs. M, I hope you are both doing GREAT, and that you get a chance to post today!!!
  • ALL RIGHT!! WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYONE!? Den, I know YOU'RE there.

Yup, none of my DAUGHTER'S friends' mothers want to be friends with me, thank goodness. What is it with these YOUNG mothers? I hope I wasn't like that!
Your son's getting a mustache, huh? Does that make you a bit queasy? I know I felt queasy when my daughter started developing a chest. It seemed very unnatural. When I see young men with a couple of hairs on their upper lip I want to reach for a razor.
Are we that far away? I should look at a map once in a while.
I picked up some new discs on the weekend, and I'm very close to being finished burning. I'll keep you posted.
Just got back from a picnic... gotta go and rest...
    hello MrsM and Leens

    talk soon...
    ellis
  • Hi Ellis!!!

You probably WEREN'T like that!!! I was as anti-social THEN as I am now!!

YES!! I feel queasy about my son getting that mustache. I am glad for him, because he is still rather short and worries that people think he is younger than he is. He is at that "couple of hairs" stage that you referred to. It shows up though because he has my pasty skin, and dark brown hair. (Darker than mine was at that age, but lighter than hubby's.) I can't really reassure him about his height because he could be taking after either one of us at this point. Hubby had a LATE adolescence, but then grew a lot. He is now over 6 ft. (barely), but he says at DS's age he was about my height. Our son is taller than me now, but not by much. His hands are long and slender like his Dad's though. Even scarier...the 12 year old's hands are now bigger than mine!!!!! Okay, mine are small, but STILL!!!! I can wear his shoes too!!!

A picnic sounds nice.....It is COLD here, is it still cold there? i wore my winter coat when we went for our walk this evening!!!

Mrs. M and Leens-COME BACK!!! PLEASE!!! sniff
  • Ha! I WAS anti-social, but I was also POLITE!! (damn those British parents)
It's tricky with children... you want to reassure them on something, but you don't want to lose their faith in you if you're wrong. Tell your son that I am personally convinced that he will grow up to be tall like his father. But in case he doesn't, I know a LOT of very sexy short men.

The picnic was fun... we went to a place called Mooney's Bay on the Rideau River in Ottawa. It was pretty chilly. We flew a kite, etc. I forgot one thing about picnics... the frigging seagulls and squirrels. THOSE NASTY LITTLE RODENTS!!! One of them kept trying to jump on the table while we were eating! Fortunately, we have a very energetic 6 year old... he kept the scavengers at bay.
Let's see... weather for Ottawa... low of 4 C, high 19 C . Not warm. And the occasional warning of snow flurries or ice pellets. Honestly.

Listen, I've finished the burning and I'm going to package and mail the stuff tomorrow! I once sent a bunch of books and software to a friend in Ukraine. Apparently I was lucky that they went through... according to my friend, they stop literature and software from going into the country, and the border officials are notorious for "removing a little something for themselves".
YOUR border guards aren't quite so devious, are they?

Leens and MrsM, where are you? Den, is it because we don't shave our legs? COME BACK!!
    xoxo

  • Hi Girls,

Sorry I've been missing in action. Been having MAJOR BRAIN FARTS lately. I've been incrediably busy at work and have had no time to breath. As you can see in my daily posts they are short and sweet.

Nothing's new here SOSDD, just truckin along...don't even mention diet. Hey while I was scrolling down the page (not reading the posts ... sorry) wouldn't you know it I did see that Ellis was eating a whopper w/cheese and fries HAAAAAAAAAAA I'm such an *** Figures I would notice that huh.

I'd love to see pictures of you guys, can you post some ? you can post them for a day or two and then delete it if you want or we can email eachother ? if not its okay.

okay chickies, some day my life will be normal

And you wonder why I put this --- >
    by my name

    Love, Leens
  • HI!!!!!

LEENS!!!! GLAD TO SEE YOU!!!!! I have brain farts all the time, think nothing of it!!!! I have an old picture of me (15 pounds heavier!!) but the bonus part is that my huggy (OOPS!!! I mean hubby!!) is also in it!!! I would prefer to e-mail it to you though. (I just am still not all that comfortable with pics of myself!!!!) It would be great to have a mental picture of who you all are!!!! I don't think life ever will get normal. I think we all need to learn to embrace the bizarreness that is life!!!! I don't know about you, but it seems to me that whenever one area of my life starts getting on an even keel things go KABOOM in another area!!! I just appreciate it when EVERYTNING isn't nuts at once!!!

Ellis-The picnic sounds GREAT!!! Our cat is a lot like those squirrels, but I love her so much that I tolerate it!! I gave her some turkey off my salad today.....THAT'LL TEACH HER NOT TO BEG!!!!! I don't think there'll be a problem with our border guards. They seem to have very little imagination!!! One time my Mom, DS #1 (a baby at the time) and I were coming back through Port Huron. The guy looked in the car, rolled his eyes, and said in a disgusted voice, "go on". Now who BETTER to smuggle than an elderly woman, a baby and a young mother? As a matter of fact, the time before that my mom smuggled meat pies in!!! (OOOOHHHH!!!! THE SECURITY OF THE NATION HAS BEEN COMPROMISED!!!!)
  • Hi Ladies,
Sorry i've been kind of MIA this week, It's been busy. This is our busiest time of year where i work so they have kept us all hopin.

At home i've been trying to get our new camper all cleaned (it was filthy when we picked it up) and set up ready to use. I think today i will actually get to start putting things in it.

My mood has been pretty stable this week so that's good. I just hope it lasts. On the subject of pictures, I have one of me that was taken in january of 2001 on my web page. My page is still under construction but it's far enough elong to see what i look like. Well sort of, I have cut all my hair off since that picture was taken. I know have super short hair and am about 20 pounds lighter.

Well I must get back to work. Talk to you all again soon i hope.
    MrsM95
  • hiya!

MrsM, you're lovely! And you're hardly fat at all! And your chest doesn't look THAT big! I taught myself HTML a few years ago and made a web page. It was fun, although I haven't done anything to it in over a year. I should get back to it. Sounds like you're having a good time getting your camper ready. Make sure you take good and healthy snacks with you when you go camping. Something that you really enjoy, because when you're dirty, wet, cranky, etc, sometimes those bags of chips at the camp-store are PRETTY darned tempting.

Leens, I'd be glad to send everyone a picture of me... just let me network my computers, first. This computer works with the Internet and has a burner, and our other computer has the scanner attached to it (darned scanner won't work on this computer) and no burner. Curses. I'll see what I can do. I'd love to see what all of you look like.

Den, your new adventures are in the mail. Airmail takes 8 business day , so don't hold your breath.
Geepers, how many meat pies did your mom smuggle in? We used to live near the Ogdensburg border and would take a picnic and spend the day. And then do a big, cheap grocery shop at ummm, what were those stores called.... something biggish. The guards weren't the slightest bit interested in our low-fat groceries.
Can you email me that picture of you, too? Please.

oh, hold on... I found a picture of my husband and I that someone emailed me. It's really poor quality and it's in my mother-in-laws' kitchen, but I'll send it anyway.

Speaking of brain-farts, I had some turkey for dinner last night, and oh geez the gas!! It was horrendous.

    ta ta for now...
