GOALS:
1. 1800 minutes of intentional exercise, most likely walking.
2. I might also start the pilates tomorrow. I have never done any fitness videos before so I dont want to make any promises other than that I will try! :D

Walking is a great way of racking up the minutes! It is also great for your heart!

Sojourner 11-01-2006 12:11 AM

Wow you guys are really ambitious with your exercise goals! I am just ramping up with exercise so this will be a good challenge. My goal is to exercise a total of 900 minutes in the month of November... this averages out to about 30 minutes per day which would be a great accomplishment for me. I anticipate not working out every single day so some days will be more and others less but this is a good goal to start.

November
1 - 15 min brisk walk with dog, 50 minute killer spin class, total 65 minutes :)
2 - 30 min brisk walk with dog, 30 min swimming (1,000 yards/20 laps... a little over a half mile), total 60 mins
3 - 30 min brisk walk with dog

I am so overscheduled for November, it's not even funny...

...but I refuse to use my busy schedule as an excuse to not work out! So today I sat down with my calendar and scheduled my gym time just as I would my rehearsals and my appointments. I scheduled 23 days out of the month - 2 extra days in addition to my 21-days goal just in case there is an emergency or illness.

DH, incidentally, officially thinks I have become a freak. When I told him that my goal was to get to the gym five days a week, he told me "Honey, only bodybuilders do that!" Am I crazy for wanting to go to the gym five days out of seven? It's not like it's cutting into time spent with him because a good portion of my gym days are scheduled for the morning, and he's out the door by 6:30 a.m. anyway.

I guess I'm a little bummed out because it seems like he's trying to burst my bubble.:(

Rowdy, don't let him burst your bubble. Five days is fine. I go Mon-Fri before work for 30 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weights 3 times a week. Take a look at the following link. It states that we should get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week, if not all days of the week. So you are right on track.

Suz: I work out almost everyday! Last month I had only 4 or 5 days I did nothing at all. 5 days a week is great! But then I guess I am a freak :)

Sojorner: 900 minutes is great!

Okay November is Here!!!

Jasmine31 11-01-2006 11:57 AM

Dolly you are a brat! Just teasin. How did you already get 50 in!?! WTG!!

Don't let him burst your bubble! We should defo be getting 30-60-90 minutes of cardio every day in! The only thing I am unsure of is the lifting weights stuff. I think I heard you should have a day break in between for muscle repair or something.

Well my stats are in for walking for last month! 2080 minutes of extra walking! That is 34.66 hours and 104 miles of walking!!! Whoohoo!!! I am all fired up for this month. That is an average of only 3.35 miles and 67 minutes a day. Definately doable for me!

Jasmine31 11-01-2006 11:58 AM

Hi Sojourner! :D

jcatron243 11-01-2006 12:15 PM

Wow Jasmine! Great Job!

shelliebellie 11-01-2006 12:40 PM

Sounds like fun! I'm new to this, so can anyone tell me the best way to go about joining in on the challenges? I would love to start in on this one.

Jasmine31 11-01-2006 12:58 PM

Thanx jcatron! Hi Shellie! The best way is to first decide how many minutes you want to do. For me I walk alot so that is what I do for my challenge but I am also hoping to start pilates today. :D

jcatron243 11-01-2006 01:02 PM

Shellie: For this challenge just give yourself an exercise goal and post here to help keep yourself accountable! I think most of the other challenges would welcome you, just join in!

callystia 11-01-2006 01:09 PM

Sojourner, I'm with you on being a little intimidated by the amounts. :)

This is my first exercise challenge, and I don't really know how much I'm capable of sticking with exercising "every DAY". Frankly, sometimes my health issues just get in the way and it's all I can do to get out of bed.

But I'm going to try for an even 1000 minutes of intentional exercise, and hope for more! :D

Off to dance now....

jcatron243 11-01-2006 01:17 PM

Callysta: this is my 3rd exercise challenge, my first I did 1200, second was 1300, now it will be 1500 (mostly because I am in the Thanksgiving day challenge and I have 9 pounds left and I want to get it off!) Make sure you don't over do anything!!! Do what you can, be proud of yourself no matter what as long as you try!!!!!!!
