loveandlaughalways, Love your screen name!

Hubby and I belong to a gym, though because of my recent injury haven't been since June! That is where I swim; the pool is 25 yds long so I can get a pretty good workout. As far as bike riding, we both love to ride so we ride along the beach or nearby river trail at least once a week. When I do cardio at the gym, I split my time between 2 or 3 machines (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike). Sometimes I take a yoga class at the gym; usually I do a DVD at home (the classes are at not-so-convenient times). If my gym offered bellydancing, I'd try it for sure. I've heard it's a great workout and it does sound fun!

Hi Ladies!

Mind if I join? I've been going to the gym every other day for an hour. I'd love to try an exercise challenge and it's so much fun with all your support. :)
I'm going to challenge myself with 1200 minutes this month. So far this month I have 90 minutes of intentional exercise. I went walking for 30 mintues + too. I just love this site!!

loveandlaughalways 11-04-2006 11:24 PM

Hi sugarbaby glad to see you here. What kind of intentional exercise will you be doing?

loveandlaughalways 11-04-2006 11:29 PM

SF40 you are so lucky. I wish my husband would participate in a weight loss program and join me with walking and bike riding. It sure would make it nicer. I have thought about a gym, but am cheap and don't want to pay. LOL I think I will look at yoga videos for the home; that is a great idea!! Keep on truckin!!

sugarbaby269 11-05-2006 01:43 AM

Here's the scoop loveandlaughs,
I plan on going to the gym (curves) 3 days a week for an hour and walk 2-3 days a week for an hour. I should have room for mess ups. I am also going to try to start some exercises from the 6 wk body makever probably next week. I will try to do those 4times a week for 20 minutes if I don't walk or go to the gym. :D

loveandlaughalways 11-05-2006 12:00 PM

sugarbaby that sounds like an awesome plan!!! Off to Apple Hill today wish me luck.

Well..., he doesn't exactly particpate with me. He enjoys bike riding, so we do that together. He enjoys swimming, so we do that together also. The only time he ever goes to the gym is to swim. He won't do any cardio machines and won't strength-train. I'm trying to get him to at least work his core, because he has some lower back pain and I think strengthening his mid-section will help. We'll see. He could stand to lose about 30 pounds (he's 6'3") and knows what he needs to do, but is not ready to completely commit yet. I guess we've all been there ourselves and we need to show by example, right?? Maybe as your hubby sees you getting stronger and more energetic, he will join you!

Welcome Sugarbaby!

loveandlaughalways 11-05-2006 09:32 PM

I wrote this long thing and then the computer locked up losing all information. How exciting. LOL Oh well anyhow I can only hope my husband will follow because he has a lot of health issues. Of course he doesn't see it to be caused by his weight, but I don't think 5"8" man should be 300 lbs, but I could be wrong.

I did pretty good today at Apple hill. Only had a few sips of my sons apple shake that was really good. I didn't exercise today due to walking at apple hill all day. I did do some weight training only because I bought some new dumbells are they are fun to use. I can really feel it in my arms.

sugarbaby269 11-06-2006 03:12 AM

Hey thanks for the welcome jcatron and loveandlaughsToday I walked for an hour and 20 minutes. I think I need to get myself a time tracker. Just have to figure out where to find one.

RowdyBliss 11-06-2006 09:28 AM

Okay - this morning was a HUGE struggle... I'm retaining water, I'm cranky, I'm PMSing, and I stayed up way too late last night. The only way I could squeeze in a workout today was to get up while it was still dark and get myself to the gym... SO hard... but I did it.

I need to keep reminding myself that this is worth it. I also need to keep reminding myself that an early bedtime before a morning workout is a good idea!!!!:dizzy:

jcatron243 11-06-2006 12:21 PM

Suz: :) Great job on getting into the gym! It IS worth it!! DIdn't you feel great when your workout was done!!! I have been thinking about getting up early to do pilates and 20 minutes on my stationary bike, but dang it my son barely sleeps so I barely sleep. Wish me luck on getting my pilates done, both my kids are already whining at me!

shelliebellie 11-06-2006 12:32 PM

I'm a little bummed. I did not do any "actual" workouts this weekend, but I was rather active. I feel like I am not going to make my goal, and I need to get my hiney on track! Today I WILL workout for at least 1 hr., and I WILL workout every day this week. Rowdy, I feel ya with waking up to workout before the sun rises. I set my alarm for 5:45 so I had plenty of time to workout before work, but didn't end up getting up until it was time to get ready for work. :( It is worth it and we can do it.

loveandlaughalways 11-06-2006 01:21 PM

Sleep is so important

Rowdybliss Awesome job on going to the gym even though you didn't really feel like it!! :D I definately hear you with staying up too late (me too :dizzy:It's the only quiet time I have with kids a sleep.) and the PMS stuff; I have really noticed a mood change today. I am very aggitated. I was peeling hard boiled eggs this morning that weren't cooperating and I ended up throwing a couple down the disposal because they weren't peeling very well.:o I can tell a huge difference with myself when I get the proper amount of sleep. I think I will make that a goal for myself also; to get enough rest.

jcat I am sorry your not getting enough sleep either because of your little one; keep going though!! It is sooo hard when you have little ones still not sleepiing through the night. Maybe you can get a nap later then exercise after. You can do it!!:)

Shelliebellie put the weekend behind you; it's okay to skip a day or two in exercise as long as you can get back on the exercise wagon today. I was afraid because I didn't exercise yesturday that it would set me back, but I made myself get on the treadmill this morning and so glad I did. I have to keep going or I will slip back into old patterns.

I'm going to the doctor today to have them check my foot (ive broken them several times with stress fractures by just walking around doing housework or outside work in the yard, etc. still not sure why. I think it may be hereditary.) any how wish me luck when they put me on their scale.

Have a great day!

1200 minutes in 30 days

November 1-20 minutes
November 2-30 minutes treadmill
November 3-35 minutes treadmill, 4 reps of 8 times each with 10 pound weights both arms (not sure how to write that due to just started today; (LOL)
November 4-40 minutes treadmill, some weights for the arms, and started abs and thighs with pilates (a little tough though. I couldn't finish the whole thing, because I am so out of shape. LOL I may not have the beginner pilates; maybe i'll look around at the store for a beginner one).

November 5-slowly walked around Apple Hill (apple orchard), not even enough to break a sweat. and some weight lifting.
November 6- 50 minutes on the treadmill.

shelliebellie 11-06-2006 01:27 PM

Good luck Loveandlaugh! I know how hard it is to try to lose weight with an injury, my knee's been acting up lately. I hope all goes well with your appointment.
