I've been really floundering lately at exercise, and I know I won't be able to get to the gym regularly because I'm about to go spend two weeks in TN with my Dad, so no gym access. But I want to get back on track, so my goal is to exercise for at least 20 minutes each day. It doesn't matter what, when, where, or how, I just need to do it! Thanks again, Joy!
I'll be out of town for nine days this month with limited opportunity for measurable exercise (although I anticipate and will push for lots of activity). So, I'm going to set my goals based on the 22 days when I have more control.
ok, while I actually did move and exercise a WHOLE lot more last month than I had in a long while, it wasn't consistent! (or it was, but not really easy to track as it was moving in like - MOVING - boxes, storage, etc)
Now I have a treadmill desk! I plan to walk on it every day that I'm in the office - Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - so 10,000 steps each of those days.
Then on Wednesday, Friday and either Saturday or Sunday I am promising myself to do something on those days. It might be a walk, or an exercise video, or laying our new basement floor or painting... SOMETHING! So, 6 days a week of some sort of movement.
I will go with 750 minutes of exercise. I'm pretty sure the apartment pool will close sometime this month, so I might lose my favorite way of exercising, but I'll aim for 750 minutes.
10/1 45 min swim pm
10/2 60 min swim pm (pool is getting mighty chilly!)
10/3 60 min swim/water walk am (pool is warmer than the outside air); 30 min swim pm
10/4 30 min swim am; 30 min swim pm
10/6 30 min swim pm
10/7 30 min swim pm
10/8 30 min swim pm
10/10 60 min swim/water walk am; 30 min Light the Night cancer walk pm
10/12 35 min swim pm
10/18 30 min walk; 30 min swim pm
10/24 45 minute walk am (pool has closed until next April); 20 min Classical Stretch on PBS
10/27 45 min walk pm, rest period, then another 20 min walk
10/29 50 min walk pm
10/31 15 min classical stretch am; 35 min bike ride pm

1 7000 steps on the treadmill and 2 hours of house cleaning

Berryblondeboys I'm jealous! would love a treadmill desk at work, enjoy!
Thanks! It was pricey, but if day one of using it is indicative of anything, it was worth every penny. I felt blah and tired and having cravings before stepping on the treadmill. I felt energized, cravings disappeared and I felt uplifted while walking. AND I was getting work done at the same time. Last winter was tough... and I gained 55 pounds. If I can control all of that easier with movement during the day, man... it's worth it's weight in gold!
That's fantastic news, berryblondeboys. Wouldn't it be amazing if physical exercise was part of our daily work routines like they do in Japan? Everyone deserves a walking desk!
My fitness goal for the month is to do my kundalini yoga set, entitled "Optimal Health", every day. It's so fun and crazy, with things like 54 cobra lifts and 6.5 minutes of half wheel pose. I definitely get a workout from it!
