  • The weekend was filled with optimism. By that I mean I shopped our local farmer's market and picked up some really great produce and a piece of fresh cod that I cooked last night and ate with a couple of different types of squash. It just felt good to do something so blatantly healthy And while I still managed to consume junk this weekend, it was far less than the damage I typically do on weekends For these efforts the scale did reward me.

    Happy Monday to all!

    SW: 193
    GW: 183

    11/13: 192.6
11/14: 192.4---well, I guess it is better than up
    11/17: 191

Squash is one of my favorite foods. SOOOOOOO many ways of fixing it, it can be put in many different types of dishes and pick plus is VERY low calorie and high fibre Have you tried spaghetti squash? It also is lo cal and high fiber and is great just with some seasonings or used in place of spaghetti at 1/5 the calories of pasta.

If you like spicy foods I can share several delicious ways of using squash in it DELICIOUS and super low cal.

    Best for/2 ya

    (and all of ya)

  • curvynotlumpy I love squash! All of them, but butternut is my favorite. -- You just made me crave for some butternut soup, maybe I cook a batch today!

B F R Sometimes I cook butternut squash on stove top with onion and cashews and add minced habanero pepper in it; nice and spicy!

Talk about recipes; I made this awesome chicken yesterday and totally low cal. I popped the chicken in to my crockpot along with garden salsa, cilantro, squeezed lime and some chopped onions. Let it cook on low for 7-8 hours. I pulled the chicken and served with soft taco shells. It was yummy.

My birthday bloat is gone Took me 2 days of OP eating. -- Weight this morning was 142.2...I am so darn close to the 130's! I really hope I will make it there by the end of the month.

I walked the pup (she is 10 years old ) for 4.2 miles and after my volunteer day at the hospital, I dragged myself to the gym and walked another 4 miles on the treadmill. I was exhausted. -- Today more walking and weight lifting (ugh).

I am determined to get to 135 by the end of this year. 7 pounds in 6 weeks! I should be able to accomplish that.
  • That chicken sounds great Sum I will have to try that.

Here is one for you: Chicken breast, jalapenos and garlic sliced long ways, slivered (maybe 1/4 " by 1 inch long) salt to taste, take sharp knife, stick down into breast far enough to insert slices of jalapeno and garlic. Broil in oven or grill. One of my favorite ways for chicken. Sometimes I just split a whole chicken in half down the back and cook the same way.

A friend of mine gave me some butternut squash which I will be cooking before long. (they keep forever) Not sure which way I will cook them yet, but I do almost everything stovetop or on the grill.

Most of my food for the past few months have been meatless except for chicken once and salmon several times. But they almost always contain squash which lend themselves to many different methods of preparation and can be put into almost anything. Once a woman who did our cooking at a recovery home I had wanted to make spaghetti, which she made from scratch and was par excellent (also the one who I copied the garlic/jalapeno chicken from). She wanted squash to put in it, which was how she made it. I told her I did not want to go to town to get any, she could make it without squash in it this time. She got ANGRY and said it could NOT be made without it (I did not dare laugh at her though I wanted to ) I went and got the squash, zuccini, which she added to the sauce in chunks. And of course, it was absolutely outstandingly delicious. One of the persons staying there said it was Hotel Hilton, referring to the cooking

There are many ways of using squash, it is filling and almost non calorie.

I got another "whoosh" this morning, wt now is 204.4... I almost can't believe it myself. It will probably go back up a few (or more) lbs for a few weeks, but for now it is mine

Good Luck all, may the scales love ya today and tomorrow

  • OK, I am dying! Just sounds funny for BFR to jump in there and talk about my cycle! I needed a laugh!

Yes, TOM was last week. The way this works for me is that I bloat the first couple of days (maybe a day or 2 before) then I lose it quickly. BUT then I gain about 3-5 pounds at the end or just after. That weight usually sticks around for a few days and I have a whoosh that leaves me below were I was when this whole thing started.

I'm not down on myself, I just don't like seeing that number. Even if I know it will come back off it's not a happy time. And I did not do well on my diet last week which has left me feeling a bit blah.

Back down to 240.2 this morning......low was 239.6 so I am moving in on it. Hoping I am starting a whoosh! I haven't gotten to exercise much lately but started back yesterday.....that may make it go back up for a couple of days. I refuse to change my ticker or profile! Sorry, not doing it! I'll move it when the weight starts going down. LOL!
  • PMS sucks.... I have been eating EVERYTHING I can get my hands on!
  • Glad to give ya a laugh JB

Some things I remember purt clearly, some I don't. I made part of my wireless payment by debit last month and I "never" do that. Saw it on my bank statement and have spent the past hour going through it with my wireless co. They finally found that I did use it in one of those money machines at the wireless store to make part of a payment of that month, the rest was by cash like I "always" do. Well, looks like "never" and "always" had an exception this time... and I still don't recall it

    Oh well.

Sum, I am sending you some handcuffs to keep those hands where they can't get to anything, mean while, here are some to read and here is a to keep you occupied til they get there.

Get hold and hang on gal.

  • Hahaha, BFR... too late, I am like a racoon rummaging thorough my cabinets
  • I'm down .2 this morning. Not much but that's 2 days in a row that the weight has dropped!
My legs are SCREAMING from yesterday's water aerobics class. The instructor was a leg **** yesterday! I was pretty sure my legs were gonna give out and I was going to drown in the pool! Hoping today's class works some of it out. I stayed after class and did extra sit-ups. I'm a bit sore from that too but not as bad as I thought I would be so that's good.
After Thanksgiving I am thinking about starting the C25K training program. One of the teachers at my kids' school is currently doing it and he is so excited about it. He has been trying to jog for a while but just didn't know how to get started without hurting himself, then he found this. He actually did a 5K this past weekend but walked part of it. He said it was the greatest feeling on earth when he crossed the finish line. He told me he would be my cheering section if I start it. It's always nice to have someone that understands what you are going through....from personal experience. My husband is very supportive but he eats like a horse and never gains! I have had my reservations about starting the program but one of the PTO members had asked my opinion about PTO organizing a 5K, in the Spring, as a fund raiser. I told her I thought it was a good idea and that one of the teachers is an avid runner and she should be able to help her with getting it started. Well, I hadn't heard any more about it but my husband came in, last night, and said they were doing it. He has gone back to school to get his Masters in Elementary Ed and is doing observation at the school and heard the teachers talking about it. So, I guess that was the sign that I needed to go ahead with it. I want to be READY for the 5K! I never dreamed I would participate in something like that but I WILL! I'm not sure how it will impact my weight loss......we'll just have to see.
I'm planning on looking in some other support groups to see if I can find some other people that are doing it. I know there are some that are doing it, but not sure if there is a support group or not.

I hope everyone has a GREAT day and that we're all a bunch of losers!
