Hey Pixi !! Welcome back :D

Jacqui - glad you got back to the 83 :) I can't wait until you get to that 178 !!

Soon2beskinny - your post reminded me to drink more water. I have a tendency to eat more sodium than I should, and the water really helps. Thanks!

Minneey I have so been there! If Will Power fairy visits, tell him I will need him at the beginning of next month for tests and finals. My neuro class sent me into an anxiety binge once this semester already, I do not need a second one!

Learning to Live even if you bloat up a bit, most people tend to have a nice whoosh at the end to balance it out :)

Rhiko wow 12km I'm amazed with you! I just did my first 5k a couple weeks ago, but I can still only run for about a minute at a time before I have to stop and breathe lol congrats and keep it up!

My whoosh is continuing but slowing. I am hoping it pushes me into the 240s again before abandoning me. I think Sat I will choose my official goal weight for the month as the whoosh should be pretty much done then.

Woohoo! This is the first time I've seen a 75 in 5 months!

SW: 76.2 kgs
CW: 75.9 kgs (-0.3 kgs)
GW: 75.5 kgs

I'm not a big fan of Will Power. He's way too fickle! Most of the time I do better by out-witting him with structures, strategies, rules, tools, techniques, and tips. They are much more reliable for me.

Jacqui_D 11-07-2013 09:47 AM

Yay! I'm down to 181 today! That's 30 lbs overall! :woohoo: 178 mini-goal, I'm on my way!

Turtle, yay on the 154!

Joy, Congrats on the 75! :bravo:

Boatingmommy, congrats on the lb down! C'mon 150's! :carrot:

Pixikat, we missed you too! So glad you are back and on track!

Minneey, you can do this! C'mon now! :dust:

Wannaskip, Great job on the loss! :broc:

LfChanges, Congrats on the big drop! :dancer: The spikes upward usually don't last long either and the shifts downward eventually stay down, so good job being patient! And good for you on the dips!

Learning_2_Live, the good news is that after TOM, you should have a whoosh coming! C'mon Whoosh Fairy!

Woodstock, yay! So glad to see a new low for you this month! :cb:

Rsadler, great job! That exercise is paying off! :exercise:

Kelijpa, I'm sure you'll find the overall trend is downward! Congrats on the drop! :cp:

Ah well, such is life...

Good Luck to everyone today!! :)

Ahhh , checking this thread feels good... Thanks all the personals - had a brief but flighty visit from will power. Also waiting for the earring fairy to return my lost earring please (have turned my house upside down this evening). The whoosh fairy might as well come along for the party then :-)

So, am back to my start weight (yay jacqui we got there!) after last weekends errr 'hiccup'. Bit worried about the weekend ahead as I'm going to Holland but don't want another week set back, so am aiming for -
Healthy dinner tomorrow
Only three drinks tomorrow eve
Only two stooopen waffles over the weekend (I'm addicted)
Healthy lunch sat
Healthy day all day Sunday! Salad for lunch. Soup for tea.

Sorry if this is about detailed, just need to put it out there to keep me focussed - in the absence of WP joy, am following your advice :-)

I'm down a half lb today; however, my scale is acting up. I think I need a new battery. I normally step on it twice just to make sure it gives me the same number each time, but today I had to step on it multiple times for it to settle on the same number in a row. It even went down to 179.5 at one point. (How dare it get my hopes up like that, lol!) It finally settled on 180.5 three times in a row. Just to double-check, I then went downstairs to my non-digital scale and it also gave me 180.5. The thing is I set my non-digital one by my digital one just a couple of weeks ago, so if the digital one had started to be off without my knowing it, they could both be wrong. I am not going to be happy if I have to change my ticker upward! :nono:

LfChanges, yes, it took me years to understand that fluctuations are all a part of the process. I'm glad you recognize it, so it won't throw you off your efforts!

Darius, it's a water thing, but it's not unusual. That's how it works. You go up and down and up and down, but overall you keep moving toward your goal, so you just have to roll with the ebbs and tides, and eventually you reach the shore! :beach:

Minneey, good job planning ahead! :cp:

Tuscany, I'm sure the whoosh fairy is close by! She never seems to go too far away from you! Of course, she might just send Baby Whoosh since you are at a healthy weight now. :bb:

Turtle, C'mon 154 and below! :cheer:

pnkrckpixikat 11-08-2013 08:12 AM

Good morning!!! picked up a new scale yesterday. The old scale has a memory function, but it means that it will weigh a person the exact same number day to day unless there is a fluctuation of greater than half a pound. Basically if you are close to what it weighed you at the day before it goes to that number. I want to see the fluctuations if it means I can see I'm down even just a little.

The new scale and the old scale are off by 2.8 pounds though. :s because I plan on using the new scale from now on I won't worry about which is "right" and just go with the new one. For todays weigh in I weighed on both just to see where I was at compared to yesterday. After today I will just have the new scale.

11/5 - 254.2
11/6 - 251.6 (-2.6)
11/7 - 250.8 (-0.8)
11/8 - old scale-252.4 new scale-249.6 (+1.6 from yesterday)

We usually play games, socialize and eat and drink...a lot! There's the usual holiday fare, plus tons of appetizers, dips and desserts. I have been practicing in my mind polite ways to refuse overindulging. Wish me luck! Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Minneey: excellent planning for the weekend -- that's exactly what I find I have to do to make special events work for me.

Jacqui_D: Woohoo! Good for you for getting your scale woes sorted out.

boatingmommy: good luck with your family gathering -- that's another sort of event that I need a plan for. Often it's "No snacks, focus on the veggies at the meal, tiny servings of everything else including dessert." And, I sometimes need to make a decision about alcohol. If the nephew in the wine business is there, my rule is usually "a small glass of each wine A is offering." If not, the rule is usually "no alcohol."

Nov 4th 174
Nov 6th 173
Nov 8th 172..kept hovering between 172 and 171, so just rounded it up as my scale is the old fashion one with the line by line reading and not digital. I also weighed dressed this morning, which I don't normally do.

I haven't been writing down calories or menu during the day, things are crazy. I have been watching carbs and calories, planning my meals ahead of time and using only the allotted calories. Seems to be working for me.

I am eating under 20 carbs a day, drinking my water, and not 1. over eating, or 2. binge eating..both of which have been my downfall my entire adult life. I am starting the 12th day binge free.:o I haven't been this in control of myself in many years and find myself having hope, but also being a bit scared as the weekend is coming and that is the time I have issues. Especially with all 5 kids home this weekend, my husband, and a birthday party planned for him Saturday.

Weigh in day :D

240.6 today
242.8 Nov start weight, down a bit

And Jacqui, when I first stepped on the scales this morning they said 238.4, so I moved them twice getting the 240.6 three times. I am going to use that same spot each time for weigh in's now. Doc's appt next week, will compare to doctors scales to find the true weight then.

Everyone seems to be doing fantastic, thanks all of ya :D

Your doing great, only four pounds left. Wow.
I need to drink my water today, I haven't had as much water the last two days as I normally drink. I notice I'm also a little extra moody when I am losing, like my body is working so hard emotionally it takes a toll. It might not be what is actually happening but I do notice I am extra emotional while pounds are dropping.

Congrats Joy! That's fantastic! :carrot:

BFR, yay on being 2.2 lbs down! That's great! :dancer: It will be interesting to hear how your scale measures up to your doctor's scale!

Woodstock, you are doing so great! I love seeing that steady weight loss! :trampo:

Learning_2_live, woohoo! Congrats on the new low! :yay: Just yesterday, I decided to start adding Crystal Light to my water. I know it has artificial sweeteners and that's not great, but so does my Diet Dr. Pepper and I kept reaching for it over water. Now I am drinking more water. I have no problem drinking water in the summer, but in the winter, it's so difficult for me. I took the suggestion to keep it at room temperature, but still, I wasn't drinking it like I know I should. Now I am. However you do it, drink up!

Mainecyn, my daughter watches carbs and calories together and it works very well for her. She doesn't journal but she does have the myfitnesspal app on her phone and she plugs in all the food she eats so she can keep track. I say do whatever works best for you!

pnkrckpixikat 11-08-2013 01:41 PM

oatingmommy Good luck with the family thanksgiving thing!!!! My advice is to pick one treat you love above all else and indulge in a reasonable bit of that and focus on veggies and protein for the rest.

Jacqui as it is the scale I will be using from here on out, in my eyes it is the accurate one! :) I'm glad that the batt fixed the problem with your scale!

gardener woot! maybe you will even see a new low tomorrow if the current low stuck with eating out

mainecyn congrats on 12 days binge free!!!! my will power is fairly weak so i feel you with worrying about a celebration! I find do best when I plan ahead what I will and will not eat and how much. Maybe try that out?

Jacqui: Glad to hear you confirmed the 180.5. Roll on 170’s!! P.S. I drink a lot of water, but I rarely drink it plain. I always add Mio to mine.

Joy: It’s nice to be able to eat out occasionally and not suffer any scale consequences.

183StGB: A nice day to you too!

boatingmommy: Good luck with your Thanksgiving celebration!

Woodstock: Not to worry…145 is just around the corner. Thanks for the cheering me on to 138…I hope my scale pays attention!

Pixi: I feel like I’m using a memory scale, given my weight is the same day in, day out!

Learning 2 Live: Congrats on getting to 158 for the first time!

Minneey: Sending more willpower dust your way…

kalijpa: Every pound counts…

Rhiko: Congrats on getting back to your lowest weight!

mainecyn: You no doubt overstated your weight this morning if you didn’t adjust for your clothes.

BFR: Congrats on this week’s loss!

It sounds as if everyone is doing very well. Hope you all have a strong finish this weekend.

I feel that I had a very good week this week. I was hoping to lose a bit more but I am pretty sure I have gained some muscle this week. I finished Week 1(6 days) of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. It was hard but fun at the same time. I hope that next week is a good number too. Today was my 11th wedding anniversary so my hubby and I will celebrate Sunday with dinner and a movie probably. Tomorrow is cheat/rest day AND I am going to see P!nk! I will behave and eat better but I will add some water weight I am sure;)

Good morning everybody :)

it's really cold over here, and my bottom jaw turned yellow yesterday :( I fought it with a lot of make-up and a scarf. Nobody would have noticed if I wasn't that much of an over-sharer ;)
I'm not in pain though, so there is nothing standing between me and studying today :) unfortunately.

Jacqui_D I think your scale was trying to make you happy with showing a low number -- you should let it ;) But I'm positive you'll get there soon anyways ;) well done on the drop anyways.

pnkrckpixikat yay, new scale!! Sorry to hear they are not showing the same weight. I was wondering -- is there a way to be 100% sure that the scale is right? I feel like they're all a little off, one way or the other. Congrats on the loss though!

boatingmommy enjoy your pre-thanksgiving! Like the other said, just fill up on the healthy options. And if you want something outside your plan, you should have a controlled portion of it, afterall you're there to enjoy yourself :) Hope you have a good time.

gardenerjoy woohoo!

mainecyn congrats on 12 days binge-free! You can will make it through the weekend, I'm sure. Enjoy yourself! :)

Big Fat Rooster Great loss! Well done!

Woodstock nice drop -- keep going!

Learning 2 Live never seen low? That's amazing! :bravo:

Minneey pizza and drinks and still a loss? I'm jealous! well done :)

Tuscany maintenance is better than a gain ;) you're doing awesome. It'll go down soon!

Have a lovely day everyone!

Good morning everyone,

Seems like 159 is holding on to me for dear life. I've gotta find a way to shake him off. Gonna hit the gym with my sister this morning for moral support. Plus the workout could won't hurt me either.
