Hello all

I haven't really joined in on the chat thread until now. I have just updated my weights for the last four weeks on the weight thread. I have been tracking my weight but didn't get on here to update it. Eek! I am up 1.4lbs on my start goal. I seem to have been in a cycle of losing lbs one week, gaining the next. Am not sure what is causing this, maybe when I lose weight I subconsciously don't focus on what I am eating so much?

I have definitely struggled since returning from my holday five weeks ago. At the beginning of August I really seemed to have the willpower to do this for the first time in my life and now I feel like I am stalling.

I did some exercise for the first time in a long time yesterday and have ordered the 30 day shred as this seems to get good reviews.

I am loving the challenges on here and am hoping they will keep me motivated. I have taken my measurements as follows:

Bust - 43"
Hips - 43"
Waist - 35.5"
Stomach = 41.5
Thigh (R) - 25"
Thigh (L) - 24"
Arms - 12" each

Goodluck all with your weightloss.

HI Lisa,

Great to see you here, good luck with having a few blue weeks in a row! I really hope everyone who has taken measurements will see a big difference by Christmas

I hope to get more people involved on the challenges from here on in, just need to come up with some good ideas to keep us all on track (if anyone has any ideas, please PM me!)

Well, I've just weighed in (well weighed and reweighed about a million time in the last couple of hours) because I'm apparently 6.75lbs lighter than this time last week, I have found the good side of sickness bugs! But, will I be able to keep it off and use it as a kick start to my weight loss? I HOPE SO!

My BMI is now 30.1, so my aim for next week is to be no longer obese, whhoooop! (I got there in April and vowed never to go back, but here I am trying again!)

Horrible dark wet day here in the north of England, perfect for getting on with my uni work, YAWN! At least I get to catch up with the first live shows from x-factor at 1pm (UK version of American Idol) the highlight of my day!

Everyone please weigh in today, I'll do results tomorrow evening UK time.

Please also post in here how you've got on with the cardio challenge

More challenges for next week, I'll try to post them tonight my time so we get a whole week to do them!

Good luck everyone

My update for the week:
Cardio challenge: done, 6 days of 60 minutes or more. Today I think I will take a rest day, but will see how the day inspires me.
Yesterday, I avoided all kinds of good ballgame snacks and stuck to my plan. I was even under on calories which I try to not do too often, but I was just being so good! Some days are so much easier than others.
Taking control, way to go this week! Sorry you were sick, but glad you are feeling better now!
Lisa, I struggle with gaining and losing too. It is nice to see a trend over time though, and as long as you are getting lower on the trend, it is okay.
Ange, great week for you! Don't know how you do it with all the traveling! Kudos!

Okay, have to go update my weight. I have always used Sunday as my official weigh day even before this challenge, but I swear, I am usually the lowest on Friday or Sat and then Sunday, I am up some from that. I try to be really focused through the weekend, but it just must be the change in schedule or something. Oh well, it's like I said before, it is the trend over time, not week to week, right? So if I remember right, I think I am at -0.6 for the week. But since I saw a lower weight this week, maybe next week will be better I will take any loss though!

Looking forward to see everyone's weigh ins and updated progress.

I think I will grab my measurements and post them to see what happens by Christmas too. I just took them last week, just have to find them. . .

Hi Jo,

Well done on the cardio challenge! What sort of exercise do you do? I really need inspiration! And great work on making good choices too I also hope you see a bigger loss next week, but remember any loss is a loss, they all soon add up over time.

OK everyone....

24 HOURS UNTIL WEIGH IN FOR THIS WEEK CLOSES!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE, LET'S HAVE MORE PEOPLE BACK ON BOARD THIS WEEK!

CHRISTMAS IS CREEPING EVER CLOSER!

Welcome to Week 8!!!

I'm putting up week 8 challenges now, but won't be doing results for week 7 until I get in from uni tomorrow, about this time. So you still have time to weigh in, even if you haven't done it in ages, jump right back in!

From the results coming in so far there are lots of great losses for week 7, so well done everyone!

Here are the week 8 challenges.......

Challenge One

The 'Pledge' Challenge

OK, for this challenge, everyone who would like to take part needs to make a pledge (or a number of pledges) for this week. If this works well and people find it useful, I think we should then add to the pledges week by week and see how far we can progress between now and Christmas.

The pledges are up to you, but write them down on here, I'll put them all together in the results thread, and at the end of each week we can check who has successfully completed their pledges.

Example pledges could be, mins/days of exercise in a week, amount of water drunk/veggies eaten, amount of treats eaten/alcohol drunk (wanting a low figure), amount of hours spent watching TV, amount of hours sleeping, number of times you walk instead of drive/ride, the list is endless and hopefully everyone will pledge things that fit in with their own personal goals and diet

Challenge Two

The Do Something Different Challenge
This one explains itself, I challenge you all to do one thing this week that you wouldn't normally do. It's up to you whether this thing is big or small, whether it's diet/exercise related or not. If you take on the challenge all you HAVE to do is post here and tell us what your different thing was and how it was.

I'll post my pledges in separate post.

Remember if you have any challenge ides just PM them to me and I'll use them in future weeks

Good luck everyone

x

In fact, I'm going to make my pledges in the morning, I'm knackered now and don't want to agree to anything I'll later regret!

TC Good idea re challenges and pledges. Thanks for organising!!

ok my New-Things-Challenge for this week is to try out a local trekking group for the first time. They are starting a new season (i found out on the internet) and i can try one 'session' for free. So on Thursday night from 7.30 to 10.30pm i'll go see what it's like. They are meeting in a very remote place and will trek from there, so it's rough ground and head-torches stuff.

I'm not going to be here for next week's weigh-in though as i'm off to watch the rugby world cup in New Zealand from Thurs til the following Tues.

I'm a bit stuck for a pledge this week, because the NZ trip marks about the half way point from when this challenge started until christmas and i'd sort of promised myself that i would be allowed a weekend off the diet at this mid-way point. So maybe i'll save any pledging until next week, when i'll have to pledge to get strictly back on the diet again!

jomatho - well done on all that cardio!! Yes, tell us what it was you were doing. I traditionally do my weekly weigh-in on a Friday for the same reasons you mention - i.e that i tend to relax a bit over the weekend and who wants to weigh in on a sunday morning after a saturday night?!!!

omg I feel like it has been forever!! What a CRAZY week! I really hope this week is much better.

Anyhow, I lost back what I gained last week (plus 1/2 a lb) so I'm glad with that (especially considering it's TOM - it coulda been bad! haha Maybe that means next week will woooosh!??).

So i'm off work tomorrow (Columbus Day).. and am grateful for an extra day off (it's the 1st time in a month that I've had 2 days off in a week!). Wish I could just lounge, but have to plan meals, grocery shop, cook, go to the gym, and do copius amounts of laundry and homework. Argh! I just wanna sleep! haha

TC, the 2nd and 3rd training session went well! I am not as sore as I was that 1st time, which is great. He sets up about 15 or so stations around the room that target different parts of the body. You're at each station for 1.5-2 mins I think.. and then he'll also bring us to the mat to do abs, additional legwork, and back work. The stations vary from calf raises to lunges to pushups to bicep/tricep curls to a treadmill. It's cool stuff.

Hope you all have a FANTASTIC Monday!

OK, on a dark dingy wet horrible Monday morning here in the north of England, I hereby pledge:

1) to only drink alcohol one day this week
2) to have 5 days this week choccie/biscuit/sweet treat/crisp free
3) to limit my TV time to 2 hours an evening
4) to only weigh myself once between now and Sunday
5) to track my water and fruit and veg intake, and see how I'm doing.

And for try something different, I am going to try to find out about different indoor exercise options around here and get involved with something! If this is winter setting in, my dreams of jogging outdoors are dying until next spring it seems, meh!

Back later with personals, time to battle through the wind and rain to the bus. BOOOOOO!!!!

Wow! Some big goals TC! That's awesome

Did another trainer workout today - was great. I need to get my cardio in somewhere though... life's been so hectic though. UGH! I just don't know how to fit EVERYTHING in! I'm sure many of us share that problem... it's frustrating.

Congratulations TC - that's a massive weight drop!!
Ryler - you've had a massive weight drop too, AND you won the weekly comp not long ago - Fabulous work!

When i started this challenge 6 weeks ago (and 9lb heavier) one of my main motivations was to get back into my work pants which i had made for me in Hong Kong when i visited a year or so ago. They've not properly fit since really. Well today i wore one pair of them to work, and they fitted absolutely fine!! Not tight at all!!

I've still got a collection of clothes that are for a half size smaller, so i still want to lose another couple of kilos ideally before christmas and comfortably fit into them, but going forward i'm hoping that this will be my top weight of any fluctuations - in fact i'm already thinking of having it as a New Year Resolution for next year to stay under 127 (because if i publicly make a New Years Res i tend to be stubbon enough to stick to it!)

Whoop well done Ange! I can't wait until I get to goal, how exciting! And you do soooo right letting your hair down a little and enjoying your NZ trip

Slimmer - nice work on the training I also need to start fitting exercise in, it's all kicking off at uni and I'm really busy, I think I could easily work 24/7 if I didn't need to sleep, but I'll be pledging next week to fit the exercise in, somewhere! I hope you're having a good day off

HI Carla, I hope you had a good job, and you're not as busy this week!

OK, first two days of my pledges are going pretty well:
No alcohol or treats yet.
Hardly watched any TV yesterday, just watched an hour now, and saving my other hour for don't tell the bride later. After I've written this it's back to uni work!
I haven't weighed in since Monday AM when I pledged, but this is soooo tough for me! I've got far too used to jumping on the scales every time I walk passed them, not anymore!
Water, I'm doing really badly with.
Fruit n veg, better today than yesterday. I'm at home tomorrow and Thu so will do much better then!

Take care everyone x
