6/3: 68 minutes (5 miles WAH), 30 min WiiFit (incl. 10 Min SuperHula!!)
6/4: 38 minutes (3 miles WAH) 6/5: 45 min walk 6/6: 90 min strength & cardio (a.k.a. clearing land) 6/7: 25 min hiking, 15 min Wii Fit 6/8: 20 cardio, 20 min walk This weekend was fun and productive. We cleared more brush and cut some more trees down on our land to make way for our future house. We were there for 5-6 hours, but I gave myself a very modest 1.5 hours worth of time for it. Hauling the branches (not to mention the trunk) to the burn pile DEFINITELY counts as strength training! LOL Oh, and our land is gently sloping, so there's the up and down hill trips over and over....a good workout to say the least! Sunday we went to the state park and had a picnic with the kids and hiked one of the trails that wound around a small lake. I LOVE getting outdoors and getting this kind of "exercise". It doesn't feel like work at all! It was great anyway and it's a little disappointing to go back to the dvd workout today, but it's rainy and cold today, so there isn't really a better option at the moment. Oh well, it's supposed to be nice again in a couple days...I can't wait! |

1.15 miles walked on the treadmill, finally up to 5 miles total! Did some weights at the gym today, but not my usual bit as I was running late after spending the ENTIRE AFTERNOON at the eye doctor's office! I swear, we didn't get out of there until 4:30p and DH's appointment was at 1:30p! Mine was after his, and I got called in and was done first!
EA Active has me on for today, so I may try to fit that in after dinner if I'm feeling any better. I think the PMS bomb is hitting, though. |
Well, I got my exercise in today. I didn't really want to go, because I put it off until the evening, but I went. The gym was packed. I found an empty elliptical, but less that halfway into my workout, my ipod died. Ugh!
June 8~ 4 miles elliptical |
Week 1 - Goal Met
Week 2: June 8 - 2 walks, 30 minutes workout - Goal met Bad news, though. :( I won't be able to get my 2 walks in for awhile because there is supposedly a cougar loose in our neighborhood. There have been 2 sightings and a dog was mauled a couple days ago. I am not convinced there really is a cougar, and if it were just me I would keep walking (I don't even walk at night, just after breakfast and after dinner). But I take my children with me, one is 4-1/2 years old and the other is 7 months. So I would rather play it safe until I find out more information. So Jacqui, until further notice I will just do 1 big walk (I'll drive to a local park), and my 30 minutes of working out. |

Daily Progress
Week 1 June 1 ~ 60 minutes on treadmill [45 minutes strength training w/My Fitness Coach] June 2 ~ 60 minutes w/My Fitness Coach [cardio] [20 minutes Wii Fit] June 3 ~ 60 minutes on treadmill [45 minutes strength training w/My Fitness Coach] June 4 ~ 60 minutes w/My Fitness Coach [cardio] [120 minutes of Moving furniture, laying carpet and sorting clothes] June 5 ~ 60 minutes on treadmill [45 minutes strength training w/My Fitness Coach] June 6 ~ 60 minutes w/My Fitness Coach [cardio] [30 minutes of Wii Fit] June 7 ~ Scheduled Day Off Week 2 June 8 ~ 60 minutes on treadmill [45 minutes strength training w/My Fitness Coach][30 minutes of EA Active boxing] June 9 ~ 60 minutes EA Active [30 minutes random boxing, tennis EA Active] I can not tell you guys how disappointed I am in the EA Active. A whole 60 minutes and didn't even break out into a sweat. Yesterday is was fun with my son, but today I needed a workout and I didn't get it. Very low impact, even when you bump up the settings. I love the customization, however, I think I'll leave the active for fun and the workouts to the My Fitness Coach. Very disappointed EA, but usually, EA is notorious for putting out under-whelming games. :( |
Delphi, thanks for the info on the EA. I know some people who like it so far but it's still too new to really give it a good evaluation. I really wanted to get it but I was so happy with MFC that I figured, why spend the $60? I love MFC, it's so much better than just a static exercise dvd (although today is my day off MFC so I'm doing Tae Bo).
I really get caught up in buying the latest gadgets and games, so I'm always interested in what others have to say. |
Pas de chaton ~ A lot of the girls here really do like it, I simply do not. I think you get a more fluent, high impact cardio session with the MFC then you do with Active. Active to me, is just a glorified Wii Fit and very low impact as far as cardio goes. I need high impact to burn the calories I want

Hey everyone, I'm brand new but I'd love to join in on this challenge if I can! Do you just post your goals and like a weekly or daily recap? I really need to get back into a regular exercise schedule so this is great :)
My weekly goals are this - do weights 4 times a week, and 3 times a week I want to run for 30 minutes, walk for 30 minutes, do my karate practice at home, and do yoga. So I guess that gives me at least 1 hour of exercise each day in addition to about 30 minutes of weights 4 days a week. I better get moving! |
:welcome: Bigknitter! Yes, you make your goal whatever you like. Jacqui will be around soon and she will add your goals to the list. You can come daily and post your daily progress or get encouragement/support or just check in when you like. That is up to you. :)

Good morning ladies! I'm sorry I wasn't able to chat yesterday. I had an extremely busy day and only managed to move the list to the new page. When I finally got on "for real" last night at around 11:00, I was so sleepy that I started on personals in the other thread but didn't even get through them. I'll have to go back to them this morning.
:welcome: Bigknitter!! It's good to have you! I've added you to the list! Good luck!! Pas, oh, definitely better to err on the side of caution with a cougar alert out!! And yet you are still determined to get to the park and walk--good for you!! That is fantastic! And I have made an exception by your goal on the list. Ms_P, you are definitely getting a workout!! All that hauling and clearing sounds extremely strenuous! It must be great to know you are doing it for your future house! Joci, oh my, girl, I am NOT looking forward to a yard sale! You are so right about all the preparation! I just can't seem to get into the mindset and yet I absolutely have to! I just feel like I'll be moving junk from one room to the next and I have so much of it, there's no room! Ugh. Delphi, I'm sorry to hear that you are underwhelmed by the EA Active. I know you were looking forward to it, but you have lots of things to keep you busy, and I'm sure more exercise programs will be coming out right around the corner! Looking, great job cutting back at the picnic! Just think of all the calories you could have racked up, and didn't! Gator, but hey, you got your workout in! Yay! Is your ipod fixable? CMof4, at least you have a head start if you decide to have a yard sale since you've been cleaning things out lately! Glutio, Great job getting your miles accomplished! Keep going, chickie! Dandk, that 30 min additional exercise along with 2 hours of bike-riding everyday and weekly strength training is quite a lot. If you find it's a little too much, just let me know if you want to modify your goals! Hi to all our chickies! Ladies, just so we don't get complacent in the middle of the month, let's remember that we are trying to turn our goals red and get a red MET GOAL!! next to each one on the list by the end of the month! That's not so easy to do with the weight loss thread because you only have so much control over your metabolism, but you have complete control when it comes to meeting your exercise goals, unless you have a cougar alert, etc, lol--just ask Pas (which is why I made an exception on her goal)! As a little motivation to keep you going, here is a cut and paste, edited from last month's list, of those who reported making their goals at the end of the May Exercise Challenge! (I missed that walking goal by a single day out of the whole month!) So let's blow last month right out of the water and see a whole lot more RED!! We CAN do it!! :woohoo: FullSteamAhead: Complete 1200 minutes--MET GOAL!! Jacqui_D: Strength train three times a week--MET GOAL!!; walk 30 min every day Jacque9999: Stick with exercise program set up with workout buddy--MET GOAL!!; make sure daughter starts (and sticks with) boot camp starting May 19th--MET GOAL!! Lene1974: Exercise 800 minutes--MET GOAL!! SuperChix: Jodi: Start exercising--MET GOAL!! Lewisempire: Complete 50 miles of walking/hiking/nordic track--MET GOAL!!; do weight training for 20 min, 3 times a week Newshinyme: Work out at least 4 times a week for 30-45 min with a mix of cardio and strength training, for a total of 510 minutes--MET GOAL!! Delphi: Use treadmill for at least 30 min every other day--MET GOAL!! Crazymamaof4: Do cardio daily--MET GOAL!!; strength train at least 3 times a week--MET GOAL!! Sotypical: Exercise regularly--MET GOAL!! Terapet: Complete 1800 minutes--MET GOAL!! MY EXERCISE: June 1--60 min on recumbent bike June 2--60 min strength training; 30 min walking June 3--30 min walking; 45 min on recumbent bike June 4--60 min strength training; 30 min walking; 40 min walking June 5--40 min walking; 20 min walking June 6--60 minute strength training; 30 min walking; 40 min walking June 7--Scheduled day off WEEK 1--ALL EXERCISE IN June 8--45 min weight training; 30 min walking |
I got in day 3 on Active this morning. I'm still getting something out of it, but I am SOOO not in to high impact right now like Delphi. Today was my easiest day, no sweating, but there wasn't a lot of running for me today. I'm not now beginning to regain some control over my leg muscles after Friday's workout! I'll still be hitting the gym this afternoon for my treadmill and strength time.
Welcome, Bigknitter!! :val1: I'm a knitter, too! I also crochet and would love to learn to spin eventually. |
