June Exercise Challenge

Hi Chicks!! Here is the June Exercise Challenge thread, started early, so that we can get a head start on getting people signed up! There is also a sister thread--the June Weight Loss Challenge: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172689. You can post any weight loss goals you have there and your exercise goals here! So feel free to join in! There is no wrong way to do it! Just state an exercise goal (or goals) that you want to accomplish for June and then work toward it, posting your progress along the way! We're all very supportive of each other here, so we'll cheer you on when you are doing well and help you along if you are struggling! ALL are welcome!! So, c'mon now! Let's start fresh for the beginning of summer! :D

Okay, so my June exercise goals are to strength train 3 days per week; to exercise for 30 additional minutes on strength training days; and to exercise for 60 minutes on 3 other days per week. This will give me a total of 6 days of exercise and 1 day off per week! Yep, I'm being daring and taking a day off this time! (But I have increased my exercise time on 3 of the days to make up for it, lol!) Woohoo! :cp:

Delphi 05-28-2009 05:10 AM

You know I'm in! So gonna step it up this month. Cardio for 60 minutes three days a week, the treadmill and strength training three days a week. I think I may update this with a total minutes of exercise for a more specific goal. I'll let ya know before we start June Jacqui!

Wifey 05-28-2009 09:35 AM

Here's my exercise challenge for June:

Dog walking - 900 minutes (30 mins a day for 30 days)

Get back to the gym! I haven't been to the gym in almost 2 months! I'll try the gym twice per week for 60 mins so approximately 600 minutes

I'm also powerwalking with a friend once a week for about 45 minutes so approximately 180 minutes.

That gives me a total of 1680 minutes of exercise for this month along with some cleaner eating! ;)

Good luck ladies!

P.S. I forgot to add that I have to start using my Wii Fit. I bought it 2 weeks ago and it's still sitting in the box! I might as well break that out for the June Challenge!

FullSteamAhead 05-28-2009 10:45 AM

Hi girls :) Not sure about my minutes yet, thinking about it! I'll be back before the first to let you know for sure. Looking forward to another month with you all. : )

ja23 05-28-2009 11:05 AM

yep going to exercise- aiming for 30mins jogging 5 times a week and fllor exercises 5 times a week
wish me luck!!!!!!:carrot:

glutio 05-28-2009 01:17 PM

Yesterday, I decided my June exercise goal would be to walk 20 miles. I'm really hoping to hit 30, but I figured I'd start with 5 miles a week since I'm still kind of struggling with the last 1/10 of the mile.

I'm hoping to hit the gym 5 days a week which will give me at least mile walking on the treadmill and 30 to 45 minutes of strength training every day.

gatorgirl6 05-28-2009 01:26 PM

Hello! I am very excited for June. I am just recovering from a broken ankle. I am in physical therapy now and just getting back into exercising. I am not sure about goals yet, because I'm not sure what my ankle will be able to handle in June. I am going to try to do what I can safely for the first week of June, then Ill update my goals, once I have doctors clearance for other activities.

lumifan4ever 05-28-2009 02:24 PM

I would love to join in on the challenge. I want to excersize at least (no less than but more than is fine) 45 hours out of the month.

Most of this will be in classes but other hours would include the treadmill and the elliptical and strength training.

FullSteamAhead 05-28-2009 02:38 PM

HI girls, popped in to say :welcome3: to you all........Jacqui said it best about our team here......it really rocks! I can tell this is going to be another great month! :)

Delphi 05-28-2009 02:42 PM

I think I'm following FSA around the forums today.

Welcome to all of you new gals! Welcome to the June thread!

May 2--30 minutes on the treadmill and walked over a mile. Ya!!! :D

Aw, still sweet as ever, but you are an EXERCISE BEAST now, girlie, lol! :jig:2000 minutes?! Amazing!! I'm so proud of you!!

Delphi 05-28-2009 07:57 PM

I know!!!:^: I just was so modest. If it weren't for you guys and our two threads, I don't know if I would be pushing myself though. I may have exercised etc..., but not to the point of wanting to really WORK for my goals. I'm gonna make it to my goal, and I hope it will be at the side of all you wonderfully inspiring ladies! I'm a cancer, so I'm a bit on the emotional side anyways, but the more we all chit chat and share this experience together, the more you feel like that virtual barrier is down and you're not on your own on this journey. Rather, you're taking it with friends! There is not a better feeling than knowing you don't have to struggle through this by yourself.

iDream 05-28-2009 08:15 PM

Delphi~ you are so right! I keep wishing that I could meet all of you ladies in person and give you all hugs and high 5's for doing such a fantatic job and for being so supportive and encouraging! :)

I'm still figuring out my June exercise goal...I know I'm going to keep on doing the Strength Training 3 days a week, but I'm getting bored with the treadmill and might start throwing in some other dvds or routines in the mix. I also think I might try taking a day off of exercise once a week as well...still not sure.

 Why did I even bother replying to this thread when I still haven't got my goal figured out?! Hahaha! Oh, that's right, to agree with Delphi of course! ;)

I'll think on it and be back later to state my Official Goal. :D

Jacqui_D 05-28-2009 08:50 PM

Delphi, I couldn't have put it better myself!! We really aren't alone in this journey! I've never felt support in my weight loss efforts like this before! And it's all because of you ladies! This whole site is amazing, but posting with all of you in these two monthly threads really has made a difference!!

CMof4, you're so funny! Lol! I'll put down your strength training since you know you're going to do that again, and then we can edit it when you figure the rest out! :D

Newshinyme 05-28-2009 09:54 PM

Of course I am in again!
My goals are:
To complete the 30 day EA Active Challenge and to add an extra workout on the rest days (except for one day a week). I might add a minutes goal for this month again, but I will have to figure that out.

SharMar 05-29-2009 12:12 AM

Hey y'all!

I just came from the June's Weight Loss Challenge thread. :D

My exercise goal is a bit complicated. I swim; and I plan to go to the pool 5 days per week.

The thing is that I'm not going to be able to differentiate between general lap swim and aqualogix class. I've been doing about 45 minutes of general lap swim and a full hour of aqualogix classes. However, whether I get to attend aqualogix classes depends on if I have a client appointment during the day and time of the class. If I don't, then I can attend; if I do have an appointment, then I won't do aqualogix that day, but will instead do general swim (because I can go early in the morning for that).

Ideally, I'd like to do general swim twice / week and aqualogix thrice / week . . . but . . .

I think instead, I'll make my exercise goal to be at least 45 minutes of pool activity each day; Monday - Friday.

Thanks!
SharMar

:swim:

Jacqui_D 05-29-2009 12:34 AM

SharMar, welcome! I've added you to the list above! I think that's a great compromise on how to list your exercise goals! Glad to have you here! Good luck! :welcome2:

Delphi 05-29-2009 05:36 AM

A big hello to SharMar! :welcome: to the June Exercise Challenge Thread. :D

...and Jacqui and Crazymomma big 's to you guys!

Jacque9999 05-29-2009 08:21 AM

Jacqui_D
Can you add to my goals....1900 minutes of exercise and 10,000 steps a day? I may change that by June first, I have to do some calculations to make sure it is realistic. Do you think it is?

Jacqui_D 05-29-2009 08:43 AM

Joci, yes, I definitely think you can do it, especially since the 1900 min would be covered by all your exercise--cardio, hiking, bootcamp drills, everything you do to exercise. If I've calculated it correctly, that's 63.3 minutes of exercise each day. And the 10,000 steps, which is a common recommendation, will be covered by your everyday walking and your hiking and other activity. So yes, I think it's do-able, especially for someone as active as you!

Jacque9999 05-29-2009 12:28 PM

Okay ladies...I love this forum. You guys have been a big part of where I am today. The support, the encouragement and the all around camaraderie is just amazing. Thanks for EVERYTHING!!!!

I hope I do the same for you all as you have done for me!!!

Delphi 05-29-2009 12:37 PM

Jacque ~ You definitely do. :) Oh and :congrat: on getting into those Sixes.

Jacque9999 05-29-2009 12:53 PM

Delphi Thank you so much!!!

I did 50 minutes on the Arc Trainer today!!!!:cb: I don't even know who I am anymore. This is the strangest thing that I have now turned into a workout junkie. I have NEVER in my life done 2 different workouts in one day like that!!! Oh yeah, plus I did 200 situps...:carrot:What a great Friday!!!:carrot:

Well I woke up this morning and really feel the fruits of my labor. I can tell I really worked alot of muscles that I didn't know I had and worked out the ones that I did know I had more then I ever had before....Thanks for the :jig:!!!

Jacqui_D 05-30-2009 12:09 PM

Joci, you may have to start saving up your money and invest in one of those armbands that Delphi has. I know you don't have much weight to lose, but it could help you to maintain once you reach your goal!

Tummy Girl 05-30-2009 04:40 PM

Ok, I'm jumping in to this one as well. I'm in for 1600 minutes of cardio and 500 minutes of strength training. Just a little bit more than May, just enough to make me work harder.

gatorgirl6 05-30-2009 04:54 PM

I think I am going to add something to my goal. How about 120 miles. So far I can use the exercise bike to accomplish that, and hopefully soon I will be allowed back on the treadmill. This should be a push that I need to succeed.

Jacqui_D 05-30-2009 05:16 PM

Welcome Tummy_Girl! I've added you to the list! Glad to have you! Good luck! :welcome2:

Gatorgirl, pretty avatar pic!! I've added your 120 miles to your goals. Be sure to follow doctor's orders, and good luck! :)
