50 Miles in October: get moving!

  • It's October, and if you are in the Northern Hemisphere it is going to start to get cool and darker early this month. It will take some determination to stay moving, but here is my plan: this month, I am going to spin (stationary bike) 50 miles.
    Please go 50 miles with me by walking, running swimming spinning, biking, rebounding (mini trampoline) or even dancing
    If you can normally walk a mile in 20 minutes or 30 minutes, and you swim or dance or bounce for 20 minutes or 30 minutes, you can count that as a mile for the purposes of this challenge. Make your own rules using whatever you think is fair, and that you can keep up with.
    We won't come to your house and check to see if you are cheating by dancing or doing aerobic housework
    Just put in some miles, one at a time and join us.
    We need the support and will give you ours by coaching, cheering you on, or kicking your behind as needed.

    Please post your mileage at least once a week; daily is helpful, but I know that not everybody can post daily.
    Those who can post daily are very encouraging for those of us with weak wills who need lots of support. :-)


    Go team! We'll have a Happy Halloween a few pounds lighter and a few miles closer to being fit!

  • Wanting, your enthusiasm is contagious! I'm definitely in!!! I want October to be an awesome month, because I know Nov & Dec will be difficult, with the holidays.

    My goal for this month is 60 miles. It will be mostly biking & walking, but [whisper]I'm starting to add some running intervals in there. [/whisper]

  • I am in too. This will give me no excuses to get out of walking. As a matter of fact I will try to increase my walking to running by Halloween I can't wait to get started.

    Nancy and I (Scott) are excited to get on board. We have been running a mile and walking a mile on the treadmill, and we are ready. Nancy is hoping she can get started losing 20lbs. I think she can do it. She looks good now but she want be in better shape. I have already lost 42lbs and want to lose another 20lbs. So we are excited... chumping at the bit to get started!

    I'm glad you are here! Looks like you know how to post, so just go take a walk tomorrow (or a bike ride or a swim or something) and drop us a line when you do.
    You can make a ticker to keep track of your miles if you want. I think they are under the signature page. If you made your signature, you can make a ticker. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll figure it out and post here.
