Ladies, I am new and need this challenge. I will be 37 in May and am a mother of five (5). Making time to exercise is such a challenge for me as all the kids (ages ranging from just turning 1 yr. to 14) crave my attention when I walk through the door (from my desk job)... After they go to bed you say? --Well, that's when my husband wants my attention! (No time for me). Help!
I am seriously hoping you all can help me with ideas to cram in some exercise time (I get up at 4:30 a.m. to go to work)... from one exausted mother...thx!

Definitely getting in on this. By June 21st, I'm going to lose 11 lbs.

176 lbs -> 165 lbs

Woo!

Good morning all! I'm going to have some super minutes/miles to add when I get back to work on monday (no internet at home on weekends). I'm doing the relay for life walk w/ my church tonight on top of my regular exercise routines.

Kem: I'm not a mom, so I can't completely relate, but I am a pro at squeezing exercise in. The first suggestion is to deliberately go out of your way when walking somewhere. For example, park in the farthest possible spot from the building you work in, that gives you 10 min each day of extra walking. If you have an option of stairs or an elevator, take the stairs. If you have to walk to someone else's work space, take the scenic route around the office. Also, there are lots of stretches and exercises you can do with your legs while sitting at a desk that help even if you don't think they are. As a matter of fact I often have my students dance in their chairs (while remaining seated) to get some of their extra energy out, and those would work too. I work my abs by sucking and holding in my tummy for a 10 count then relaxing for a 10 count (and repeat) during the day. Oh, have you tried to get your family on board w/ evening exercise? Even something as silly as dancing in the living room along to music on the radio works. (My mom use to do that w/ myself and my 3 sisters when we were growing up). I'm sure there are more you'll be able to think of. It takes a little imagination, but anything you do that is more than you normally do helps. Good luck. I know you can do it.

Kem -

Can you join a gym? Most gyms have childcare for the little ones and some have activities for older kids to keep them busy. It can get a little pricey, but if you can swing it, it's worth it.

Kern, I am not sure if this suggestion will help or if its even what you might want. Still when I read your post I thought why not give your husband a little heart to heart talk about your goals and get him to give you some time to workout every other day for say 6 weeks.

That way you still have time together and have some time to work out. If your working on muscle then the recovery time can be a good thing.

Also you have a time limit and at the end you can reevaluate. It doesn't have to be the perfect plan with kids its all about compromise and juggling

My two year old is crawling all over me as I type. I am a SAHM so I have time to grab a bit of exercise here and there but I always have an ear out for loud booms.

I did manage to get a good upper body workout in today.

Hey girls! Hope the weekend went well for you. It definitely went well for me...especially this morning. Stepped on the scale and saw that I lost the first TWO pounds for this challenge! Woo-hoo!! And I'm going to celebrate by going for a run in the nice weather!

Have a great Sunday everyone.

Afternoon everyone! TOM is gone and I hope WI isn't too bad on Tuesday. My goal for this week is to get back into water aerobics and try not to pull my hair out from nervousness. I have a interview for a much needed second job tomorrow and I still have yet to hear back from the VA about the position I put in for almost two weeks ago. Usually they are quick about notifiying you if you aren't qualified or just didn't get the job so I don't know what to think. Wish me luck!
