Lena - That's great to have some kind of exercise that's fun, too. I hate every minute of it, so I invent little games in my head to challenge myself. Well, I enjoy the stretching part, it's kind of meditative, but it just breaks my heart to get on that bleep elliptical.

And great job everyone on keeping up with the exercise plan. We rock!!

So, Day 1 of Housework Frenzy is done. I had boxes and boxes of books and Star Wars memoribilia to move out of my library/guest room so that mum in law could have a place to sleep. (I cleaned out my storage unit at the beginning of the year, and that's where it wound up.) I also did a serious hands and knees scrubbing of the bathroom. I have one of those huge walk in showers that's floor to ceiling tile on three sides and the bottom as well - it was one of the big draws when we bought the house but cleaning it is a huge pain!

So, I'm laying off the weights tonight because my back is again quite sore, but I am going to try the stretching and see if it helps or hurts more.

Happy Thursday!

Lala-great job on the 1lb...I tried the elliptical yesterady at the gym and I could only manage 3 1/2 mins and my legs were burning so bad...How long did it take you to get to the bluid up to 30 mins?

Plb how is your eating going today? were you able to keep your craving away.

Lena - wow you go girl..thats a lot of walking..You sound like you had a fun day though..I haven't played ping-pong in years.

As for me I've gone to the gym for the last 2 days but I'm going to take today off...My muscles are a little sore and I don't want to wear myself out...Plus I'm really tired...I haven't gotten to bed till after midnight the last few days and I get up at 6am

Have a great night

Pebbles - I have to force myself to keep going on the elliptical. I started out at about 10 minutes, but I used to walk a couple of times a week before that. Then I added an extra 5 minutes every week. Stretching out and warming up are also very important - I get a lot of leg cramps in just my right leg, so I go for 5 minutes, pause and work out the kink, then go another 5 minutes.

Also, we put a small TV in that room and I play a DVD while I use the elliptical. It keeps my mind off of just watching the numbers roll by and the general discomfort.

Hi, girls! Wow... we are just exercising fiends, here!

Donna, I'm so glad you're enjoying the gym! Yes, take a day off, hon. You need to let your body heal.

plb, you must have abs of steel! I'm very impressed.

Fishwoman, you're doing so well with the walking!

Lala, I can't remember... is your MIL coming to live or to visit? Is that stressful for you, or are you okay?
Take care of your back, hon.

Lena, you are going to BREAK that pedometer.

I had a 30 minute exercise class last night.
Then my trainer took me aside, and tried to convince me to sign up for a triathalon. I can't swim, though. (yet!) I think I might just do a 5km run for now. My trainer gave me a program to start running. I was feeling pretty gung ho last night, but now that I have to start it this morning, I'm feeling a wee bit lazy.

Good morning, everyone! TGIF!!!!

Wow, Ellis! You are making some fantastic strides, since your trainer thinks you're ready to start working toward a triathalon! That's great!

Donna, Lala, all you folks who do elliptical, my hat's off to you! Back in the days when I was going to the gym, I tried using that confounded thing and it just felt so awkward! Took me nearly 6 months (if memory serves) to get to the point where I could do 30ish minutes (if the person next to me distracted me by talking to me), but even my cheeks felt like they were jiggling about. I just never got past the herky-jerky movement. Never got it smooth.

Lala, sounds like you got quite the workout getting the room ready. Housework Frenzy! I like that term! That shower sounds divine. I've always wanted one like that. Watch your back, though. Don't want to have any injuries.

Plb, glad to hear you had a great food day!

As for me, nothing out of the ordinary. Finally got myself working at about 6:30. Strength, then nearly an hour on the treadmill during AI. I think the right folks went home last night and the right ones stayed. I do wish the performances has more pizazz, though. They keep picking/performing such blah material!

That, and there are far too many commercials! Sheesh! 7 minutes of show followed by 8-9 commercials/promos? When did the show become something to fill in the time between commercials?

Make it a good one today, everyone!

Ellis - training for a triathalon? That is impressive! I always said that i would do one if I learned how to swim and ride a bike . Maybe I should stick to just running!

Lala - housework frenzy burns calories too! I hope all goes well with your MIL.

It sounds as if everyone is having really great workouts this month. Let's keep it up! Have a great weekend

Ellis- My 9yrs old joined girls on the run program and will be running a 5k in June. I hope she can do it they are going to train for 10 weeks. I was thinking about doing it with her, but right now I don't think I could and would hate to slow the girls down.
As for the swimming you can do it !!!! WoW ...wish I could even think I could do a triathalon . You'll do great!!!!!
No abs of steel yet only when I dream. LOL
I've had 5 kids(girls) and they had to cut open with the first one ,so it will take a while to get the abs in shape .

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE !!!!!

Plb - One day I'm going to be as good as you

Fishwoman - great job on the walking

Was dog tired last night and just couldn't bring myself to do any strength training, so I'll have to make that up today. Did 3 laps at the mall yesterday, though. Word of warning: do not mallwalk through the Food Court! That was a temptation I didn't need! . I resisted though -- just kicked up the pace a bit to get out of that area!

Fishwoman, you must have gone through 10 pairs of walking shoes already! Good job!

Great job on that elliptical, Donna! I'm so glad you're enjoying your gym expierence!

Plb, 5 kiddies and you can still do 100 crunches? Ow ow ow! How do you break them up? Spread out over the day? 5 sets of 20 or something? 100 all in one go? Ow ow ow!!! Any way you do it, it's most impressive!!!

Hope everyone is having a Super Saturday so far!

Lena-Food Court that's too much of a temptation for me ! Good job on getting out of there with out eating anything!!!
As for the abs 4 sets of 25 in about 10mins or so. If I would spread them out I don't think I would end up doing all of them. It hurts ,but after 5 kids it's the only way to get them back in shape.

Donna - I started out doing the elliptical 5 mins 2x a day about 2 months ago and have been working doing a little more every couple of weeks . The first time I did it I couldn't walk right the next day I was in so much pain. LOL It's kind of funny now, but not when I was hurting.

That's why I'm NOT doing a triathalon! Can't swim. YET!!
Isn't the weather fabulous!? It's going up to 10C (50F) here today, and I am THRILLED! Spring is coming. Happy walking!

Plb, FIVE KIDS!! Wow, you are awesome, girl! That's how many we wanted, but when we it seemed we couldn't have anymore after our daughter, we thought, "Okay, one is good and easy!" We sold/gave away all of our baby stuff, and BANG! Pregnant with number two. I had two c-sections. My stomach is unbelievably ugly. Ah, well... I've never been the bikini type.
That's wonderful that your 9 year old is doing a 5k with her friends! Kids just bounce back, don't they? I mean, she'll probably run it with ease, and experience no pain afterwards. Whereas you and I would be grunting to the finish line, and then have to lie around afterwards with ice packs on our shins.

Lena, what's AI? DH and I haven't watched tv in about 17 years. What am I missing?!

Donna, great job on the elliptical!! That's a big jump, hon!

Let's see... what have I done... Oh! I did my first day of training on Friday for the 5k. Two minute walk, then one minute run for a total of 22 minutes. So I got in seven minutes of running in total. I know I could have run for longer in one stretch, but I'm going to take it easy. I don't want to hurt myself.
And then yesterday I went to my 30 minute weight/cardio class.
I am feeling very powerful!!

Keep up the great work, girls!!

Ellis - AI? That wasn't me, I think it was LessOfLena, but I think she means American Idol.

Let's see, I guess I haven't updated for a while... ummm... here it is, the last thing was Housework Frenzy Day 1. Day 2 was all sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. DOH! I forgot to dust BEFORE I vacuumed. Oh well.

The stretching is definitely helping with the back strain though. There was some tenderness but it didn't ever actually go out on me. Yay! 'Cos sweeping and vacuuming are definitely hard on me... But, that was the day that I still hit the elliptical for a while, even after cleaning, then went for the three mile walk with hubby at 10 pm - I think I posted a happy-hoppy kind of NSV thing in the Success Forum about it, because in the "old days" (tee hee) I would have said no to the walk just on general principle (on the principle that I'm generally lazy)!

That means, Saturday... oh, yeah, yesterday! I'm so confuzzled! Yesterday was AM stretches & crunches (I skipped the weights) then PM stretches and the elliptical for a whopping 35 minutes (my longest time yet).

So, I think that's it for me for this week... We're leaving in the morning for Virginia, but I'll be back in touch next weekend. I hope everyone has a great week!

Lala, I'm sorry! I'm getting my "Ls" confused!
Wow, you're doing great with the exercise, hon! (I hear ya re: being lazy. heh heh) I'm glad your back is feeling a bit better.
Have a wonderful time in Virginia with your DH.

Thanks, Donna...
Oh, my gosh! You're up to 17 minutes already!! You are AMAZING, girl!! Doesn't it feel great?

Okay, I really have to adjust my treadmill today. For real. I've got my run to do, and the belt is slipping. Very unnerving.

I hope everyone has a good workout/rest day today!
