  • You're the BOMB!!!
  • Went to the gym with DD yesterday at 5:45 am. Actually felt very good. She can only be there about 50 minutes, I felt like I could go longer. Usually the minute I get in there, I can't wait to leave... do not enjoy working out when I first start. Then I overdo it three to four weeks in. I do not lead a balance life. Can't figure out how to do that, never could.

Kiddies wear me out when they are all here after school. I get them supper and then wait to eat after they are picked up at 6pm. This is just Mondays.
    Then I want WINE!

With the help of MikkiJoe, I am planning Thanksgiving. It occurs to me that the idea of stuffing myself even just one day has absolutely no appeal. Where in the heck did we get the idea that this was good. We stuff ourselves and then spend the next few days trying to recover from the bloat and weight gain. I realize that it is a reason for families to get together. I decided that am going to have a much pared down version of the traditional.

    Turkey
Mashed something either potato substitutes like rutabages/turnips/parsnips or cauliflower.
green bean casserole with all primal ingredients including the onion rings
    sweet potatoes primal
real cranberry sauce with coconut sugar
    pumpkin pie with almond crust
    cream gravy and primal biscuits

My turkey is pastured and huge and somehow I am going to have to brine it, maybe in the bathtub?? Just kidding...

My husband also bought some russet potatoes before he was really committed to primal and I will mash those up, for the folks that gag at the thought of mashed cauliflower, just to use them up.

Speaking of DH. The man is off donuts and pastries and anything wheat. He is also experimenting with eliminating dairy for a couple of weeks to see if he can get some more tummy reduction. He took off his pants without unbuckling or unbelting Sunday. I told him, it is time for new britches. I cannot believe that he did it. He has such a sweet tooth. He goes to the frig and grabs a slice of meat and a romaine leaf for a snack, instead of a cookie or muffin or piece of pie. Whoever said, set an example and your DH will come around, was right. I would not have wagered any money on it at the time.
  • Sandy, what is the coconut sugar? Can you tell me the brand name? Is good/healthy/safe? I use splenda and stevi to cook some things and I'm worried about it. I've heard erithrytol was a possibility.

However I know it would be best to not do anything at all and I'm working toward this......

Tol' ya!! .... 50 minutes is more than enough time at the gym!! YAY for going When's the next time?
  • Sandy -- @ your DH ...
  • Any thoughts on fermented foods? I've been having a tough time the last few weeks with stomach and headache/sinus problems. I dont' know if it's an food allergy or I just have gut problems.

I was thinking of trying some fermented food but I think I will have to buy them online.

    Any suggestions?
  • Don't tell me anything bad..
    until after Thanksgiving LOL

Remember when Splenda was supposed to be great....couldn't even get in the US until way after Canada. So who knows if this stuff will be OK next year.

    oops forgot the link http://www.coconutsecret.com/
  • I know I know

Actually today same time, same duration. Felt like I could've gone another 10 minutes on the treadmill at least but DH had her monthly visitor and felt wuzzy.

I would really rather go by myself but she seems to need me to go with. I am not into the buddy system (except here ). I like to react to how my body is feeling and adjust accordingly. I hate going with the husband who wanders around and rests too long between heavy lifting. He could be there 2 hrs or more. I want to get in and leave when my body says so.

    Am I grouchy?
  • And oh by the way, Ilene, I gained a pound this am........
  • Just listened to a Robb Wolf podcast where he mentioned coconut secret sugar.
He said that it looks like it's mostly inulin and legit but it is still a processed food and one should not go crazy with it.

Good enough for me for now. I will just use it to make special occasion things.
  • Speaking of fermented foods. We get raw milk weekly and DH is the biggest user. I never seem to be able to spare the carbs. So we have about a half-gallon that is not sour because raw milk doesn't really sour. I found a recipe for homemade yogurt using the crockpot that I am going to try. It said it was fine to use sour milk.

    So we shall see....
  • Quote: And oh by the way, Ilene, I gained a pound this am........
That is only temporary, when you first start working out your muscles retain water... Actually it isn't temporary because I still am up a pound or two the day after an intense leg workout... BUT it's only water retention... I will convert you
  • Coconut Crystals (sugar) is also available at Tropical Traditions, and theyshould have another free shipping day soo, make sure to sign up for their newsletter, seems they have it twice a month and give you just a days notice
  • I am so flat lined.......plataeu as some people call it, but I struggle so much as spelling that word I just make up my own title!

SO I think I am going to have to tweek something, maybe go back to calorie counting? I dont know, mnot going to go off the plan, just tweeking, been at this weight for 5 weeks now
  • MJ,

I was listening to Robb Wolf on the treadmill this morning and he commented that a certain population of folks have an insulin response when they look at a sugary carb, and some have the response when using sugar-free sweeteners.

He sighted a study where runners when they hit the wall, were given either a little water or a little water with artificial sweetener. The last group was able to go on, the water only group was not. The last group's body response to the no carb/calorie was like they were given a little glucose.

So I think that our bodies compensate in ways that we have not come to understand completely. My opinion is that you are just too good of a cook. How about your daughter and husband. Are they stalled as well?
