  • Quote: It's 11:40 a.m. in Key West, 80º Fahrenheit and I'm goin' to my outside water exercise class in about 5 minutes!
    I am soooo totally envious!!!
  • White and 7 degrees....yup, nice way to start the morning. Hubs took me to work and Mikaela to school. Was leary of my son driving to work, but I guess he made it OK, no phone calls.

Sparky: personally I think Shrinking Violet is a male, I was wondering before by the pattern of outlashing and the wording, and then when I looked up the journal and saw the pictures I really think it has to be a guy to be that ugly! LOL oh I am mean

Feeling the bloat from eating wheat this last week, my jeans are snug at the waist where they used to be loose.

Just curious, how many of you take your own bag to the grocery store, and if you do what do you use? One of those store ones they sell, or something more custom? I am thinking of making them with my daughter, with very nice fabrics, maybe lined in plastic. But I know even if I got the fabric on sale they would get costly if I went to sell them, probably like close to $20 for a larger, lined bag in fashionable good quality fabric.

HERE is a picture of what I am thinking about, would love opinions!
  • 80 degrees.........THAT was MEAN!
  • Totes
I have a bunch of totes that I have collected as give-aways at conferences, etc.
I usually buy too much and wind up using some plastic or paper, cause I didn't take enough.

I think your pattern is too nice LOL. I would buy that as a purse/travel bag.

My FBG was down to 82 this am???? I started using alcohol instead of just washing my hands. Could that make a difference?
  • Mikki, I agree with Sparky, those are way to pretty for groceries... I have about 4 of those bags, that I never use, I always forget them in the car ... I need the plastic bags for the litter box so I don't feel bad buying them...

    Sparky, your FBG is
  • Ilene-

Thanks, much. I haven't been dropping in size yet, but maybe am retaining muscle water. I hope it's only temporary!

Mikki-LIke Sparky i just collect bags from conferences. I do have a few nice one's that I bought from Trader Joe's. They are just the right size, and they clean up easily. We bought those on days we were there and had forgotten to bring one, so now we have a little collection.
  • Quote: Susan,

I thought you had been at maintenance (your current weight) for years and you were just chiming in to help us. I didn't realize that you have lost the weight since 2009. Did you do it all on primal?
I'm a terrible yo-yo-er. I first lost weight in 2004! My favourite has always been calorie counting. Lean proteins and things that grow. But PB is what's helped me get this low and stay here for months.
Details are kinda foggy this early in the morning but I think I was about 140 when I started PB, and much flabbier.
I was reading the weight lifters threads here. Kaw refered to some blogs, I read them and ordered the book.
  • Interesting....

I am up fairly early myself this morning. Have a full day of cooking/cleaning. I have had 2-3 days of my painful tummy problem, onset of a bladder infection and I woke up this morning with a headache which I rarely get. This all is not conducive to cooking a huge Thanksgiving meal. I really am doing it for others and would like it to be just another primal day for me.

Also, hearing on the news today that there are about 17 million children in the US that are "food insecure" (hungry), makes a big meal really unattractive to me. I should have given the money I spent on the grass-fed/organic meal to "Save The Children".

I am hoping that all my symptoms have to do with my body dumping toxins from the flab that is melting away. My waist measured 33" this am. When my waist goes down, I start to have backaches 'cause the blub is not there to support my posture. Like after you have a baby...

I hope you all have a good Thanksgiving with your loved ones...

PS-I just remembered that the Canadians here have already had their Thanksgiving.
  • Hey girls, hoping that if you are flying around the house trying to prepare for guests, or prepare to go elsewhere that the true spirit of the holidays finds you, and calms you. Its all about relationship, its not about how clean the toilet bowl is, or how moist the turkey is, what people remember for years is the stories told, the games played, and the time together with the people they love.

    "Good" is good enough!
  • Oh... MikkiJoe,

You are so right. Thanks for reminding me what is important.

    You are the best!!!
  • Thank you all for your friendship. Happy Thanksgiving!
  • Whew that was a lot of work....

But the primal food turned out pretty good. The Pumpkin Pave with Stevia was a bust. Very blah... The Apple Crisp with Coconut Secret crystals and the Sweet Potatoes with coconut sugar turned into keepers. I also made Biscuits with coconut flour that looked good but were missing something.

The Pastured free-range Turkey's little timer thing popped up 2 hours early!!
So I had to scramble to get the sides finished. Cranberries had stevia in them and they were good. Of course, we had mashed cauliflower with asaigo and chevre cheeses as well as regular mashed potatoes for others.

The gravy was the best I ever made, probably because I had time to chill the drippings and spoon off much of the grease. I thickened it with arrowstarch.

I ate one plate and was done. Just tasted the desserts.

Today we are taking the girls (7 and 5) to Tangled which I am excited to see. I love seeing the looks on their faces when they watch some of my old favorites like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Very politically incorrect but I survived these movies without becoming a threat to society.
  • Thank you Mikkie for the reminder ... Could you come back and repeat that same thing around Christmas time? Just as a refresher

Things are same ole, same ole here, hence not much posting from moi!

  • Back on Track
I have not been tracking for two days!!

Just so busy with leftovers, trying to turn not so primal leftover soup and stew into primal concoctions etc. Used sweet potato flour from Peru to make a roux. It appears to have worked with just a slight change in flavor.

My coconut secret sugar looks and tastes like brown sugar but doesn't dissolve or melt into foods like brown sugar.

I came to realize how we got ourselves into this refined predicament. Refining makes ingredients work better with regard to pastries, breads etc. We, as a nation, probably demanded the "pure" white sugars and flours. Ultra fine sugar? Pastry flour?

It tasted so good to get back to plain meat/fish and veggies yesterday. I craved a simple apple (can only eat one half at a setting).

I think we made a breakthrough with my SIL. It appears that he was not embracing good fat and protein. My daughter made him the pork chops in mushroom cream gravy last night and he just couldn't get over that this was OK. My 2 year-old grandson apparently stood at the kitchen half-door yelling "Bacon, more Bacon" yesterday. SIL still blames my daughter, that she is not "helping" him by prepping food. She has done that many times before just to find McDonald bags stuffed under the car seat. She doesn't believe that he will change. I try to help by making more and freezing a little for him. But it is good, expensive ingredients and I worry that the food will rot in his refrig at his office.

We waste almost nothing here. Food costs too much, and I hear tell it is probably going to get worse. I have even been making my almost sour raw milk into yogurt that DH thinks is the best he has ever tasted, mixed with frozen organic fruits and a little sweetener.

Anywho, time to get back to serious business. Tracking helps me feel secure in what I am doing.

A news item yesterday said by 2020, 50% of Americans will be diabetic or pre-diabetic.
  • Ilene--you can guarentee that there will be a Christmas message for me to share, probably much longer!

Well, surprise surprise, I have been OFF track since Wednesday! Go figure, never saw that coming!

I have 3 inches of bloat around my waist, actually it goes from my rib cages to my waist!

It was so bad that I was buying dinner rolls every time I went to the store? WHY, just so we would not run out. I purposely made soup (primal) so we could have the rolls! CRAP! I threw out 4 bags of them last night.....tonight is chicken breast with veggies ONLY

BUT I had a great 4 day weekend, the tree is up, and our mini tree too, and my mantel is almost decorated, so we are 90% there---I dont decorate throughout the house, just the tree and mantel.
