Can someone explain what deficits are? I'm using a software program to track calories. No mention of deficits.

Hi Jazz bird. A deficit is the difference between calories burned in a day and calories consumed in a day. I use fitday to figure out the difference

I was high on calories again today. Hopefully I'll do better tomorrow.

Wednesday: 2211 calories, 468 deficit, 45 minutes curves

Oh, I see. My program calls that calories remaining. Sounds like FitDay works a little differently. I try to keep my remaining calories pretty close to 0, because the software gives me a new target every day based on my goal and what I weigh. I think the concept is pretty similar, though.

Humm this is how I do my deficit- I calculate my bmr which is 1620 for my height and weight then add up what I eat which today was 1300 calories then I minus out my exercise which was 350 calories burned so my total for the day is 950 then I minus that from my 1620 and I have a deficit of 670 calories. Is that how others are doing it or are you just minusing your eaten with your burned calories? Anyways I had a great day!

Deficits? Yesterday my fitday.com says I ate 1654 and used 2412 so my deficit was about 750 calories.

Well, back from a great 2 week vacation and weight is up 5 lbs!!! I was hoping some of it was water but no luck!!!

So today I am back counting calories and pushing the water....I may have withdrawal symptoms....lol

Good to be back, you all are still doing great.

Gio I saw ya on another thread saying you where gonna skip lunch and as all the replies said I agree dont skip meals just cut back a bit on each meal to lower your calories but keep your metabolism going.

I've had a GREAT deficit day today....Saturday evening. 1308. I was trying very hard to achieve this and had a total of about 1200 cal. for the day. Coming off a vacation it has really been hard to get back on track with my calories. So the effort paid off today, I usually aim for 1400 cal/day so this is "a very good day".
