Okay so I kind of fell off the "wagon" for a couple weeks. Again. Yes, I just did that. Okay, back on and *need need need* to re-incorporate regular exercise or it's just not going to work. Deficit of 358 yesterday to kick-start this. See you gals tomorrow :D
|
Hellow everyone-
My deficit for last week was of 4656... the scale wasnt too happy with me today hope its just sodium from the mexican food I had on the weekend... Also lots of people have been mentioned that fitday overstimates the amount of calorie that we burn... I upgraded my age and downgraded my lifestyle and that brought me from 2700 to 2300cal a day...any thoughts on that? |
Well. I did ok today as far as calories. Last I checked I think I had a 700+ deficit but that was before DH gave me a lite beer and we ate some popcorn. Guess that wasn't too bad. I did get one of my Leslie Sansone Walking Videos in today for 45 minutes. Lynne my sweet little girl is still gone. Don't think I'll see her again. It's been 9 days. I live in the boonies, so I'm thinking the coyotes may have gotten her. I guess I'm accepting it a little better than last week. I don't cry as much anyway. Gave my DD her cat food as she was needing to go to the store for some for her kitty so I made her take it. Picked up her food dishes today...tomorrow maybe the litterbox. I'm sorry to ramble about her. Guess I'm one of "those people" who put their pets on a pedestal. Can't help it. I'll always have a soft spot for animals. Keep up the good work--what a bunch of LOSERS we are-LOL!! Maybe tomorrow I'll be brave enough to weigh myself.
|
I'm back from vacation now and I had a really bad week of eating...Now I'm ready to get back on track with counting those calories and deficits...I'm way too far behind to catch up reading so I hope everyone has been doing great.
|
Well I haven't been doing much of anything but drinking water. We are having a horrible heatwave here in Oregon, which is nothing that we are even used to. On the 5 oclock news, someone called in that only lives 15 miles south of us and reported it was 118F!!!:yikes:
|
Hi all,
My scale wasn't as happy today as yesterday. I'd better keep a closer watch. Melissa hurray :carrot: thats a great point, 20 lbs Michele, I hadn't heard about the heat there, do you have a/c. ICK I can't stand the heat. Ripples, that is very sad. Rebeca, I just look at the calories consumed. If I could keep to my goal of 1275 I'm sure I would lose. I know when I was 141 lbs I was eating around 1135 calories - maybe a little more. I'm 5'4". Now I'm older and the metabolism is slower. But I'm trying to walk daily. So I raised it to the 1275. |
Hey pebbles and blues!! good to see some old faces here again I was feeling lonely! :).
Deficit yesterday of 900 which I'm very happy about. I was a maniac at the gym this morning, was superwoman my first circuit, managed 20 dips, 10 pull ups and 8 leg raises and tucks! Of course, the 2nd and 3rd sets I only managed 14 dips, 8 pull ups and 7 raises and tucks but I improved some today. I love circuit training, although I don't like how my arms feel right now, kinda like a jello feeling going on in my shoulders :dizzy:. Couldn't hardly carry my gym bag into the office when I got to work . Ripples - we live in the boonies too so I'm pretty sure my cat has you know what. Yours still has time to come back and I hope she does, I'm sure my little bob isn't coming back though. Mel - 2lbs is great, well done. |
MELISSA & ELYSE -- We did have an AC, but something was wrong with it and we took it back. We live in a townhouse and just have several fans. This heat seems to be the worst I've ever experienced in my 38 years here in Oregon! They are saying that it's supposed to cool down to 90F today, and then in the 80s for the rest of the week.:o
|
Michelle-I sweat just thinking of you!! Take care of yourself and just keep drinking lots of water.
Mel-Great job on the 2 lbs!!:}} Doesn't that feel GREAT?! Lisi-My scale was up too 1lb. TOM came to visit a week early again for the third month in a row. Maybe it's a sign of "meno" setting in. I'm 49 in a few months and have ALWAYS been on time, so I think I'm starting to go thru my changes. Don't know HOW to feel about that?! Lynne-sounds like you had a great workout! I forced myself to do my eliptical today, but I felt much better once I got going. So sorry about your little bob too-sigh. I need to wash my windows badly, but am having a hard time b/c Layla left her little kitty "kiss marks" all over my 6 ft. long kitchen window above my sink and I feel like I'm washing away part of her. I HAVE to do it though. It's getting harder to see out my window between pollen, dust, etc. What a SAP I am!!! After lunch I WILL wash my windows. Wonder how many calories that burns-LOL!! Take care all. Keepin' the faith...Dawn |
Rebeca - that *might* be more accurate. I find for me that if my activity level is set on bed-bound/sedentary the "basal" amount they give is close to my normal maintenance level when sitting around doing nothing. I bet it'd be higher if I had more regular activity in my day, or had more muscle on me. I found out the "real" number through trial and error, and just use Fitday's basal as it gradually brings me down about 10-20 calories every 1lb or so I lose.
ripples57 - I know how you feel about losing a pet, it is like losing a member of the family and I don't think anything is wrong with you if you need to grieve for it. Wish you the best. Donna - welcome back! :D Michelle - wow, I didn't know it got hot in Oregon, especially not THAT hot, that is amazing! Mel67 - WTG!! :cp: LynneA - wow, wtg on the gym, that is awesome! you will be buff and svelt in no time! :D Deficit of 662 for myself yesterday (whee). Did not eat much, but did okay. No "bad" foods, and even got some fruit in with a little leftover for today. Also did 30 minutes on the DDR pad last night, and am logging again on the Presidential Fitness Challenge with a goal of 5 days a week of 30 minutes or more of activity. I managed to hit 6 weeks of that before so had probably been about 3 months of regular activity in there. Hoping to add in *more* weight lifting this time, and try to make it all a regular habit. Freak thunderstorm this morning but I missed it as was in a room at work with no windows. Kinda bummed, I do like a little storm here and there, we don't get them much. Take care ladies! |
MILES... In the 38 years of living in Oregon, it has never gotten that hot! The weather just seems to get more different all the time!:o
RIPPLES... I'm still so sorry to hear that your kitty is missing. I haven't seen Susan on here for awhile.:?: Has anyone heard from her and is everything going okay? |
Hi! So how are you all calculating your deficit numbers for the day? Is that something FitDay does for you?
|
Michelle that is HOT or Oregon!
Ripples Im still praying your kitty comes back to you! Melissa congrats on your loss!! :cp: Lynne sounds like you had a great workout! Lots of calories burned! :cheer: I had a good day OP today! Tuesday: 1206 calories, 1395 deficit, 35 minutes cardio, 20 minutes weights |
yesterdays deficit was 680..had a great day of eating...today I did good till supper...well not really that bad but I did have two potato skins(not healthy)
that put my calories higher than I wanted but other that that I did good today..I need to get back into the exercise routine...this week may be a little hard cause I have to work 6 days...I'm going to be a tired puppy this week. Lynne-you are a workout queen...keep up the good work |
Michelle, I live in Oregon too and have lived here for 38 years too!! I keep telling people that the weather is really unusual for us especially for this time of year!! It was awful on Sunday and Monday!! Thank goodness I have central air but Sunday I worked 16 hours and my work does not have good air conditioning and it was miserable. It was 90 according to my car temp thing when I went out today, felt A LOT better than Sunday and Monday, I'm really hoping those 80's come in like they were supposed to for the rest of the week!!
|
SUSAN... I like your new pic!;) At first I didn't recognize your post, but then I figured out that I have seen you around the board.:dizzy:
MELODY... That is so funny that we're both from Oregon and both have lived here for 38 years!:p I totally agree with you about Sunday and Monday; it was just so unbearable!:sp: :yikes: I'm so glad tonight it's supposed to get down in the 50s instead of the 80s like last night, perfect sleeping weather!:D |
SUSAN... I forgot to mention that I'm sure one of the ladies will be able to answer your deficit question. That is something I still have a hard time with!:?:
|
Thanks for the kind words ladies, "workout queen" thanks Donna!
Deficit yesterday of around 700, would have been over 1000 but I gave in to cheese AND ice cream last night . I really have to stop doing that! Val, Blues, Donna - good job on those deficits! :cheer: I had another top session at the gym this morning, some interval training on the treadmill then elliptical work. Hubbie commented this morning how "thin" I was looking, it made my day! Most of my weight is on my tummy/abdomen and I have noticed that the spare tire I have just under my bust seems to be getting smaller. At least I hope it is! I hate my tummy fat! Have a great day everyone. |
hockeyfan7 - I know by practice what my "maintenance" calories are (I go by the baseline on Fitday, 1461 for me at the moment), add in calories burnt through exercise, than subtract what I ate. Finding your real maintenance number might be the hardest part in all of that, mine was through trial and error, doing the math after I'd lost some weight, and seeing what I could maintain at when I went "off" my diet.
Valerie - nice deficit, wtg! Donna - nice deficit still, can't deny yourself everything. I know what you mean on the exercise return, that is a toughy for me as well. Melody - hope it cools down! Lynne - wow, excellent exercise! How sweet of your husband to say that, I'll bet that'd make *any* girl's day! Day 3 for me without useless sugar. Trying to give it up for a while as I know when I have it I just crave more. Silly waste of calories will end up turning into a whole week off plan. Aaanyways, just about broke even yesterday: deficit of 150ish or so. Went a little overboard for dinner, made up for it by doing 30 minutes of a new weight routine. Am loosely basing it on the Body For Life plan (upper body one day, lots of reps that focus on one muscle group at a time). Hopefully that will work out, I am really lacking in the "muscle" area. Anyways, hope today goes better. Am getting together with my future mother-in-law, and then afterwards with my mother and sister. Hopefully I will survive the day :D |
Thanks ladies! That makes sense -- you are basically not eating back your exercise calories. Calorie King works on a similar premise with net calories.
|
morning
I've made 3 days now back on track with eating and water intake...I only made it to the gym yesterday for weights but no cardio...also did some yard work...deficit of 1062...hoping to make it to the gym again today.. miles-I hear you on the cravings...sugars a killer..lol have a great day everyone |
Hey Susan happy to see you ....
I use Fitday to post my food intake and then add in the exercise, it gives you the numbers, then just subtract the exercise from the calories......yes, Calorie King does the same thing. I have been lax doing my Fit Day this week so I'll have to start again today. Calorie King said I needed to eat 1400 cal. or less to lose weight.....I know I've been over but usually I can average it out and be down for the week. Off to do my FitDay. Phyllis |
Deficit of about 475 for me yesterday. Continued with my weights and did lower body yesterday along with a little cardio and a little stretching. Boy do I feel it today, all over. Was planning on doing upper body again tonight, hope my arms will be "healed" by then. I think starting a new routine just made each day more painful than it will be in the future, but it's nice to feel that kind of pain (from work, not injury).
Now that fiancee and I live together I don't tend to cook big meals for the both of us. He makes what he wants when he gets home and I make what I want later on. I have realized how much time I wasted cooking and eating before that I am able to use now. Nice to have a little more time in my day, or it feels like it anyways. Enabling me to go vegetarian more often too, might have brown rice and kidney beans tonight, both are quick fixes and should be healthy if I can get the portions right just for myself. Take care ladies! |
Oh my goodness, last day of June already. Where is everyone? Deficit of 301 for me yesterday. Ate pretty decently I think (no *bad* foods) and got in more upper body lifting. Tonight should be lower body again but I might give it a rest day as I am still in pain from 2 days ago. Take care ladies!

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to get on these boards for days with the heavy rains we've had this week in NY. Terrible flooding not so far from here. We were very lucky. We have a stream right behind our house that turned into a raging river to say the least, but we are just high enough that it did not flood us out but towns within an hour away near us have been devastated. I only have begun to realize just how damaging the water can be. Like they say- you see it on the news all the time, but don't realize til it hits home just how bad it can be.
I have not been doing Fitday for about 4 days now, but have been behaving myself mostly. Just started a new part time job for the summer in a VERY busy garden/farm store and boy am I exhausted after 8 hrs. Good thing it's only part time LOL-this old body can't take these long hours anymore. The day goes by quickly though and I KNOW I'm burning tons more calories. My legs don't get tired anymore. Have not exercised in 2 days, but will do it tomorrow. Today I had a NSV-we went to a leather shop and I bought my first leather jacket for riding our new Harley! I had such a hard time getting one that would fit over my "girls" and yet not be too big for my belly. I can't believe how different the sizing can be. I ended up with a 2XL. I usually take XL in my tops and lately have been fitting into a large so go figure. I'm just happy I found one that fits and it looks good. I had a customer pay me a compliment at the store I work in who has not seen me in about 5 yrs. He said WOW you lost weight. I thanked him for noticing and jokingly said now I have to get DH to buy me clothes that fit. He got a kick out of that. It felt good b/c in 6 months he is the only person that has complemented me other than immediate family. Even my friends don't seem to notice, but thats ok. I know I feel much better. Michelle and Mel, so sorry about the terrible heat wave. Isn't it weird about all this strange weather? We have had such a wet spring and early summer. I can't even tend to my flowers b/c of the rain and the tent caterpillar infestation-YUCK!! I may attempt pulling some weeds tomorrow! Still no kitty-thank you so much everyone for the thoughts and prayers. It means so much. She was a very sweet little girl and DH and I and our dog Ripples miss her so. I think she will not be back but I'm sure she's happy wherever she is. She was such a happy kitty. I'm doing much better although I did cry meself to sleep the other nite. What a big baby, but I can't help but think of her before I fall asleep. Sigh. I miss her climbing on my belly when I'm sleeping. Time is helping me get through this. DH wanted to get me another one, but I refused. Oh well, I will survive. Sorry to ramble everyone! I just missed this board so much. Good to be back. Take care. Keepin' the faith...Dawn |
Dawn--I know we started a new thread, but I saw that you posted here so thought I would respond. Our weather had cooled down in the low 80s for a couple of days, but now again, it has been up close to 90 and yesterday it was in the middle 90s. I absolutely cannot take this heat; it makes me feel so sick to my stomach at times. I'm so sorry to hear about your heavy rains and the flooding. I did see that on the news and it looked like it could be very dangerous and scary. So glad your computer is up and running again. I know I rely on mine and this site so much! I bet you are burning so many calories with your new job; it sounds fun though. Hope you have a fun weekend!;)
